The rest of my Friday went like any other, but it felt long and drawn out. After meeting Faris and Husk95 I found it hard to just go about my day. They were new, they were different, and I wanted to explore them more. Even Faris had a type of hyperactive charm to him. I don't know why I asked to see his dick though. I don't think I expected him to be so nonchalant about it, but he was. They both gave me red flags to think about, but they were both redeemable enough to still consider.

Husk95 just wanted someone to use as a work out. I was a doctor, but the idea felt clinical even to me. I didn't want him to treat Gerald like a piece of equipment. That's why it's a good thing he told me he wasn't against being more than just sex.

Faris seemed to be almost an opposite to Husk95. He was raw and desperate, so I had no doubt he'd treat Gerald like a person. My fear was that he'd get to attached, too close, and want too much. But he was honest and upfront. I didn't get the feeling that he was holding anything back which was both good and bad for his case.

I was surprised MegaMaxxx didn't show up. Then again I shouldn't have been surprised. He was still in the closet and he made it clear he wanted to stay that way. What was I expecting him to do when I invited him to meet me and 2 other people in public? I should have known he wasn't going to make it. Or so I thought.

Because I pushed back my schedule to make time for everything I did that morning I ended my day late into the night. Usually I'd be home no later than 7 o'clock, but that night I was the last doctor in the clinic. There were no patience to see , no blood work to do, and paper work was done. All that needed doing was to lock up and turn off the lights. I went around the building turning lights off and checking doors making sure they were shut. When I made it to the waiting room , the last room, I noticed no one had picked up the magazines from the floor. As I walked over to pick up the mess and reorganize our outdated reading material he walked in. With my back to him I didn't realize it was Maxxx, and the fact that most of the lights were off didn't help ether.

Parker- We're closed until morning

As I got to my feet to turn around I could feel something was off.

Parker- we open at

As I finally made my turn my sight was cut by his chest in front of my face. He was taller in person than his online profile made him seem. I had to tilt my head back just to look him in the eye.

Parker- Maxxx?

Maxxx- sorry to show up like this

Parker- you can't be here , how are you here, how did you know I'd be here

Maxxx- there aren't many monkeys in town, even fewer that live in this area, and even less that happen to be in relationships with other males that are rats , actually only one...that being you... and you told me your name so that narrowed it down too

Maxxx was a very smart kid, that much was evident from that moment on.

Parker- this is not the place for... why didn't you come to the Caffè this morning

Maxxx- I was scared

Parker- this is scary, you tracked me

Maxxx- I'm not good in public places around a lot of people

Parker - this is not OK

Maxxx- does that mean I don't get to

I cut him off.

Parker- no, the other two were odd, but this , this is just crazy

Maxxx- I'm so sorry if I crossed a line

Parker- I need to finish locking up, so you need to leave

Maxxx- I really am sorry

He left without a fight or really any argument. The kid was menacing. He didn't need to be buff when he was that tall and tracked me down to my place of business. It was creepy, it was strange, odd, and not alright. Maxxx was a definitive no go. I figured it be best not to bother telling Gerald about him when I got home that night. I didn't want to worry him. Then again I couldn't even if I wanted to because Gerald was already sleeping when I made it home.

Saturday morning rolled in and there was plenty to discuss. When I woke up Gerald was gone though. I left our room, still nude, and searched the second floor of the house for him. His parents were old, retired, and shriveled up. They never came upstairs because the stairs were hard for them, so in a way the first floor was their house and the top floor was mine and Gerald's. I enjoyed my ability to walk around without worry of them seeing my banana or my nuts.

I couldn't think of anywhere Gerald needed to be on a Saturday morning, especially after losing his job. I took a seat in the theater and sent him a text.

Parker- where are you?

I flipped on the projector and let whatever was on play on the screen. Gerald sent a message back.

Gerald - with my mom looking for job

At least I knew where he was. I didn't want to tell him about Faris or Husk95 over the phone, so I waited to say anything else. It had been a while since I didn't have Gerald around, or have to go to work. I was already naked. It was easy enough to let my hand slip down my body around myself. But of course just as I began to lay back and shut my eyes I heard the door bell.

Parker- Fuck

I thought Gerald's dad might answer it if I just waited long enough. A minute went by and again I heard the door bell. I figured he was old so maybe he was taking a while to get to the door. Then there was a third ring.

Parker- Fuck

I went back to our room to at least put on a pair of shorts. I was hiding a simi tented package as I walked down the stairs. Gerald's dad was sitting in the living room watching TV. He could have gotten the door.

I opened the door, and there was a delivery person on the other side. They needed me to sign for a package, and I did. They handed me a small box the size of my phone and went on their way.

I took the package upstairs opening it before I was even at the top step. It was a transaction device. I'd forgotten we were supposed to get one because Gerald was on that site. It was a little flat white scanner. People would scan their card before they got play time then scan it again after they were done to be charged for the time they spent with Gerald. Holding the small device made things feel more tangible, real even.

I needed to relax and get my mind off of all that was upcoming. I put the device in Gerald and my room before heading down stairs to leave the house. I didn't know where I was going, I didn't even have a shirt on. I left my car and went on foot down the street. There were people jogging, a couple of kids riding bikes, and a few soccer mom's siting on a porch. It was a catalog style suburban neighborhood if ever there was one.

I didn't have many friends in town. When I graduated med school I left my home town to move in with Gerald. Don't get me wrong Tyra was a cool work buddy, but we weren't that close outside of the clinic. Sometimes I wondered what my old med school friends were up to, or what people from high school were doing. I had some of their numbers in my phone, but it's always awkward talking to people after so long of not talking. I found myself getting close to the neighborhood park. I found a bench and took a seat after wandering through a maze of trees. The park was pretty elaborate. It was a nice neighborhood , so I guess the big fancy park fit. There was a pond and bridges, so many big trees and bushes everywhere. If I didn't know any better I'd say I was in New York or Bandar.

Mark- It's nice isn't it

I turned my head, somehow I missed the part where someone sat next to me.

Parker- yea it's beautiful

He was human. A black haired skinny looking kid with blue eyes. He was shirtless too, and from the sweat on his body I could tell he was running for a while.

Mark- have you ever wondered why there aren't any birds of your kind

Parker- my kind?

Mark- furs

Parker- oh

Being a doctor I did know why.

Parker- it's because when the first hybrids were made they gave up on trying to give humans wings

Mark- hybrids?

Parker- the first furs were just humans that gave themselves animal parts , that's why there aren't any cow furs, or pig furs no one wanted to be one of those

Mark- I never knew that, you must be pretty smart or something

Parker- I'm a doctor, it's something they teach first years in med school

Mark- so if furs are just humans with animal parts then how are you guys so "furry" and not smooth skinned like us

Parker- you really wanna know

Mark- well I got a minute before I have to get back to my run so...

Was he flirting with me or was he just curious? Or was I just so pent up that I thought he was flirting with me? Either way I told him.

Parker- well furs and hybrids aren't the same , hybrids started as humans , but when they had kids hybrids gave birth to furs who were born naturally with a little more animal than their parents

Mark- must be fun

Parker - what?

Mark- you know, being faster, stronger, the sense of smell

Parker- that's actually a debunked myth, furs aren't any faster or stronger than most humans, well some are, but only a small percentage are born with those kind of natural gifts like the radar level hearing or the ability to smell pheromones

Mark- oh, well that's ...

Parker -boring?

Mark- well yea

Parker- I had a roommate in college, he was a rabbit, and he could hear so well it didn't matter how thick the walls were , he said he could never sleep

Mark- but your a monkey, you must be extra flexible or something

Parker - I tried to do a back flip once and I nearly broke my back in two places

Mark- shit

We laughed.

Mark- my names "Mark" by the way

Parker- "Parker"

I shook his hand.

Mark- you know I got another lap I gotta do, but if your up for it I was gonna grab a bite to eat after

Parker- oh um, I have a boyfriend

Mark- and I'm straight, you should invite him , if he's anything like you I'm sure you both can teach me something new over ...um , do you eat meat

Parker- yes I eat meat

I laughed.

Mark- then I know this great BBQ place

Parker- sounds good to me

I let him finish his run and as discussed we went to grab something to eat. He didn't change or shower, we were both shirtless as we got into his car. Admittedly it was a little odd going out to eat with almost a complete stranger, but it was a rather southern kind of town. I learned when I moved from my home town to Gerald's that people did things differently in different parts of the world. I took the invitation to lunch as just another example of southern kindness and welcoming habits.

Mark- How come I've never seen you around the neighborhood

Parker - I stay busy most days

Mark - because your a doctor right?

Parker- right

Mark- still can't believe what you said , I mean I have friends who are like you

Parker- monkeys?

Mark- furs, and they all tell me about how great it is

Parker- There's a certain belief that a lot of furs have, some people like to think because we're "animal like" that we are animals, it gets a lot of us in trouble sometimes because we aren't

Mark- don't tell me your one of those social justice warrior types

Parker- no ... but there's a lot that comes with being a fur , but super powers is not on the list

Mark- fair enough, we're here

Parker- this is the place?

It looked like more than just a place we could walk into casually. It was a red brick building with walls of more glass than brick. The name was in french I wasn't about to try to say it.

Getting out of the car we were definitely under dressed. Or we would have been if the French place was the restaurant we were going to. Like a bait and switch I followed Mark up to the building just for him to lead me to the back of it where the actual BBQ place was. I was shirtless with no shoes and lacking pants, under pants that is, so the sudden switch was a life savor. We got a table and ordered.

Mark- what happened to your boyfriend, thought he was coming with us

Parker - he's busy

Mark- too bad, is he a...

Parker- a fur? Yea

Mark- what kind

Parker- you seem pretty interested in furs

Mark- of course I am , you guys are like fantasy creatures... um in the best way

Parker- We're the same as everyone else

Mark- to a degree, but you can't tell me there isn't something special about you guys, I mean even just you , the Internet has been around for a while, people used to dream of someone like you being real and now here you are eating ribs with boring old human me

I thought I was making a friend, but the choice of topic that we couldn't seem to get away from was starting to bother me. He felt like a fan , but not for a right reason.

Parker- I think I should get home

Mark- but you haven't even finished your food yet

Parker- it's alright, I'm a light eater

I stood up to leave.

Mark - hold on let me get the bill and I'll drive you home

I put more than enough money on the table to cover the bill before leaving.

Parker - thanks for showing me this place, maybe I'll see you around

He followed me outside right on my heels.

Mark- come on don't be like this

Parker- I'd greatly appreciate it if you would let me leave

I tried to get a cab to stop.

Mark- OK so look , I might have lied OK, I'm not straight, well I am but I'm not , I just , look at you , I wanted you to come to lunch

Parker- Mark, I'm glad you like furs so much, but I don't feel comfortable doing this with you, so if you would please

Mark- I want you , not you specifically, I mean I want to be with one of your kind

My attention shifted.

Parker- what

Mark- I'm a little obsessed I'll admit it, but at least I'm not a part of some hate group, I love you guys

Parker- you know your right it's good that your not a member of one of the hate groups, but you love people like me for the same reason those hate groups hate people like me, not because of who I am or what I believe, but because of what I am and what I look like

Mark- but I could

Parker- but you don't, and that's why I need to get home

Mark- you know what screw you , you fucking monkey, I'm not gonna apologies , I was being nice, your the one making this into a race thing

Later that night, when I finally made it home, I was so happy to have finally seen Gerald. He was in the theater, in our spot.

Gerald - where have you been all day

Parker- Just out and about

Gerald - doing what

Parker- living life

I took a seat on the couch next to him snuggling him into my frame.

Parker- I think I found someone for you to hook up with

Gerald - that was fast

Parker- yea I met them yesterday

Gerald - and your sure you can live with me doing this

Parker- I don't know , do you ever think about how these guys want to have sex with you because your a rat, I mean you said it yourself they want you because your exotic not because of who you are

Gerald - well yea , at first, but aren't I supposed to meet them before we actually get to being in bed

Parker- but it doesn't bother you that it's not your thoughts or ideas that are attracting these guys it's what you look like , and in a way that's so speciesist

Gerald - we talked about this from the beginning

Parker- yea but now it's more real

Gerald- do you not want me to do this anymore

Parker- you know I can't say yes or no to that

Gerald - you can

Parker- I'm not going to, I just... people are speciesist and I hate it , even when it helps us it's still there and it's still wrong

Gerald- what happened today

Parker- I tried to make a friend, it didn't go well

Gerald - the way that I see it people have to fall in love with how you look first , even if everyone was the same species they'd still need a face to look at first before getting to know each other, so people are drawn in because I'm a rat, I get to make them stay because of who I am

Parker- and here I was thinking I was the brains, but that's a really different way of seeing things

Gerald - you might be a doctor but I think we're both well versed in the school of life

Parker- that is so cheesy and I love it

I kissed the top of his head as I squeezed him closer almost fuzzing our fur together.

Gerald - I have to wonder though

Parker- about?

Gerald - well how did you fall in love with me , what brew you in first if not my appearance

Parker- easy, you had this quote in some part of your profile on Strange Fruit "if there is a God then there is someone else who knows my pain , but if there is no God then there is only I who suffers my misery"

Gerald -that's what made you message me

Parker- it was the realist thing I'd seen on that app since I signed up, you weren't looking to get laid, you weren't looking for a friend's with benefits, you were just looking for someone to connect with , I didn't know you were a rat until hours later when I actually took the time look at your pictures

Gerald - then I guess you really do stand by your philosophy , but to be fair, I might have been trying to get laid just a little bit

Parker - Just a little bit

Gerald - just a little bit

Parker- I can give you a little bit right now

Gerald - I'll have to charge you

Parker- what have I done , my middle class rat has turned into a capitalist
