Pokemon's Gift Chapter 12: Heat

Terra observed the rapidly passing clouds as they gently glided toward the horizon. She began to think of what those clouds would see in their travels; the love, the anger, the joy, the sorrow -- it was all theirs to see, yet never to touch. There were some parts of her life in which she'd wish she were a cloud, yet now she could never imagine that happening. She felt too loved to give it all away.

She turned and watched Ark as he chatted away the day with Raven. Her mate had what he wanted for the past few days and Raven was becoming a good friend almost immediately. Yet some part deep inside her remained very cautious about letting Raven become too close to Ark. For the time being she remained neutral toward the ghost. However, were Raven to ever make a move on Ark to steal him away from her... there would be hell to pay.

Terra gave it some thought during which some different scenarios of her setting up 'boundaries' came to mind. She almost shocked herself at how aggressive some of them were. She turned it down a notch, deciding the best way to address it was to be honest with Raven about her feelings and hope she wouldn't be offended.

"Terra?" Raven addressed as she floated away from Ark who was now sitting on a bench thinking heavily about something.

"Yes?"

"I don't know how to ask this to a human, and I don't think it would be an appropriate question to ask one either. What is it like to give the 'Gift'?"

"It's... well its not... it's unique. It's so simple to give it, and at the same time it feels like an impossible decision. I think I had it easy, finding Ark and all. It felt so wonderful to let him share in our language and to let him feel my emotions, and perhaps someday eventually share the thrills of parenting little ones. Above all else, I think it's one of those things that you can't truly describe how it feels and make it understandable to one who hasn't given it."

"Do you think that one day I might be able to give a human the 'gift'?"

Terra pondered the implications for a moment. Surely Raven knew that she could not give the gift to someone who'd already received it. She would then already be aware that Ark was out of the question. If unaware, the information could have adverse effects were Raven planning to give Ark the gift. "-No, I'm worrying too much. I just need to calm down and answer her truthfully-," she mused.

She cleared her lungs with a short cough. "I think there is a possibility, provided you can find the perfect mate untouched by the gift. The most important thing I think you should look for in a human is someone who understands you despite the differences that you have."

"A clear answer -- I like that. Also, on a side note, while I may like Ark, I have no interest in him other than as a friend. No offence, but he doesn't seem like one to hold my ardor for any length of time." Raven remarked before fading to an almost invisible state where anyone would have extreme trouble picking her out of any area larger than a tiny garden.

Terra, while she was relieved, still felt apprehensive about letting Raven too close to Ark for any amount of time. She wondered why she felt this way until Ark's alarm went off and distracted her before the group headed back toward the Pokémart.

"Welcome back. Perfect timing too. I'd just finished." The clerk grinned as Ark and his party entered the very quiet store. "I guarantee that this will install the chip without any difficulty. If it doesn't work I'll reimburse the entire cost out of my own wallet." The clerk gestured towards the red and white ball lying on the counter. For some odd reason he'd felt attached to the pure red and white as it somehow complemented the Pokémon it contained. However, he had inserted a small gold inlay to adorn the seal, only adding to its perfection.

The Sphere looked brand new and felt nearly frictionless in Ark's hands as he took it from the counter. He gripped it cautiously, fearing the orb would slip out of his hands if he didn't. It was perfect and it was what Terra deserved. He expressed his heartfelt thanks to the clerk before focusing on Terra. She stood her ground and waited to be placed into the Pokéball to get it over with. A soft squeeze bathed her in a crimson light and transferred her inside.

He held it for a few minutes, feeling what he guessed were the small vibrations of the installation mechanisms at work. Soon enough they stopped and with another quick squeeze Terra was back out looking as perfectly as when she'd entered. Ark worried that nothing had really happened on the inside, so he quickly scanned Terra with his Pokégear.

"Species: Lopunny, Approximate level: 25-30, Moveset: Magic Coat, Mirror Coat, Splash, Pound, Defense Curl, Foresight, Endure, Return, Quick Attack, Jump Kick. Please scan again for additional moves." It crackled, seeming as if every word ripped away the last little bits of its battery life. Another quick scan revealed the last few attacks Terra had: "Movest continued: Baton Pass, Focus Blast, Captivate, Attract."

"A long list, lets hope I can remember them all." Ark remarked, shutting the Gear down before the battery could die.

"Well thank you for fixing this." he said making his way out the door.

"Not a problem. Enjoy, and remember to come here if you have any problems with another Pokéball." The clerk called to him.

"I will, Sir." Ark called back, giving one last smile before he went on his way.

"Should we work on some sign language, Terra?" Ark asked, trying to find something other than battling to pass the time. It was nearing 7 PM and becoming reasonably close to dusk. It had taken a bit longer than expected to find a suitable camping spot since most of those close by town had already been taken by an influx of trainers who were on their way to obtain Eterna City's gym badge. It was around 3 miles or so from the outskirts of town, close enough to walk to in an hour but far enough to be largely left alone. Ark cursed himself for taking too long to reach it, they honestly should have been there much earlier but he'd insisted he knew a shortcut.

Terra weighed her options. There was very little she needed it for anymore besides privately speaking with Ark. However, they'd caught on so quickly to it that it would be a shame if they quit practicing altogether. "A quick session would be nice" Terra signed, grinning like a fool.

Quick as a flash they started signing different words to each other, figuring out which words they needed more focus on.

Raven floated around confused the entire time, wondering what they were doing and why. It was clear to her that they were speaking a sort of language without words. It seemed almost magical after Ark noticed her and started speaking the words for Raven while twisting and twirling different patterns with his hands, educating her while practicing.

After the sun had set, they stopped. Raven had just begun to grasp the strange dialect. It was made odd by the fact that her form couldn't support the hand signs, however she still absorbed the knowledge like a sponge since it was something unique to her and could prove to be useful in time.

In what seemed like a blink of Raven's eye the other two had set up a tent, fixed dinner and gone to sleep, leaving her alone with her thoughts until morning. She was a very low maintenance Pokémon, needing neither sleep nor food. She could eat and sleep, but the former was merely a waste of food since it only dropped through her body; as she was neither capable of tasting it nor feeling the texture, and sleep was nothing more than tuning out the world. She almost worked up the courage to sleep inside the tent but got cold feet when she thought about Terra's firm stance about how close she would allow her near Ark. She assumed that Terra had meant that, though she wasn't completely positive. Her insight was pretty good, but it had been wrong at times.

Raven floated to each corner of the camp waiting for something to happen. She felt protective over the two lovers like some sort of spiritual guardian sent to them by some great and powerful god-like entity.

"You aren't too far off." A Chatot spoke up, hopping close to the coals of the once grand fire. "You're a guardian, yes, but you weren't sent to him. That was your own choice."

Raven focused closely at the small little bird, wondering why it was awake so late and how it had pried that information from her mind.

"Let's assume for a second that I'm not a Chatot but something... more."

Raven could see the smirk though wasn't sure how considering the bird's beak remained as still as stone.

"Then what are you?" Raven asked highly doubtful of whatever it would come up with.

"A very unique Pokémon -- my lineage has been a project of Draven, the uncle of your trainer. I have been specifically bred for the purpose of spying. Teleportation, melding into shadows, and invisibility are just a few of the useful tools in my arsenal. My current objective is to observe what Ark is doing and assist him unnoticeably if I can. Such as you joining him."

"You're saying that you had something to do with my joining him?"

"Perhaps."

"I find that hard to swallow."

"And you'll have an even harder time remembering it." A quick flash and the Chatot was gone. A few seconds flew by before Raven blinked and woke up as the first ray of sunshine hit her body.

Her mind felt cloudy and fuzzy -- she knew something had happened but for the life (or un-life) of her she couldn't remember what. She didn't even know why she had set herself into a pseudo-sleep. She poked her head inside the tent for a second, seeing if the two lovers were awake. They weren't, but were still obviously tired from exhaustion. Raven could almost feel the heavy sexual scents in the tiny enclosure. They made her mind swim and fuzz even more. She waited outside, still trying to remember what had happened.

As was her tendency, Terra awoke before her trainer. Last night had yet again been amazing, though she was a bit sore from the activity. Her pubic fur was matted by sweat and from both of their sexual fluids. She tried to remove some of the matting herself using her saliva and hand.

"Mmmm." Terra moaned as her paw accidentally rubbed up against a small nub of flesh beneath her fur. She hadn't meant to at all, she had assumed it was sore. It wasn't, and now she craved more of that feeling -- a lot more. She needed it. She had to have it. Aggressively, she worked herself over, desperate to satisfy herself, moaning all the while. At this point she didn't care if Ark awoke, in fact it would be better if he woke. She could use him at this point. Her mind had taken a back seat now, all that mattered was pleasure. She needed it, as much as she could have. She fumbled around with Ark's zipper while still working on herself. Ark was just waking up from the noisy Lopunny.

"Terra wha?" Ark yawned, blinking the sleep out of his eyes and trying to focus. Terra blatantly ignored him as she finally unzipped his pants and yanked them off followed quickly by his underclothing.

"Mate." Terra barely managed to say as the heat took control of her body. She would have hated this if she were in her right mind. She wanted to make love, not just mate. She had received that last night, though she had felt her heat start last night.

Ark tried to resist but the Lopunny was just too strong for him. He realized she was going to get what she wanted no matter what and maybe it would die down for a while once she finished. He couldn't really say that he didn't want it as the flesh sticking straight up from his exposed crotch would tell her otherwise. This was heat -- Ark was in for about two or three days of this before it faded and until those days were up Terra would be in control, even moreso if any of her need came through their link.

There was no caressing, no little "I love yous" -- this was raw unadulterated sex. Ark was merely the object to temporarily sate the need. She didn't even hesitate to give him a single look of love before she impaled herself on his shaft, rolling her hips around and bouncing at the same time. Sexual sounds rang out loudly in the quiet campsite; no doubt Raven would hear each one. It felt good but not as good as the times before. Physically it was more than adequate, but emotionally it was not very enjoyable.

Terra moaned as her legs gave way a time or two during her plunge upon Ark's rod. Each bounce brought back a little control and with it her mind. "I-I-I'm s-s-sorry." She muttered in between moans.

If she could, she would have stopped right then and given Ark some love. She could only imagine how he felt at that moment. Surely he hated her acting this way but she needed it. She had to mate. The heat was just too strong to ignore.

Each bounce brought Ark closer to the point of no return. He was almost saddened that it would end this soon even though it was little more than flesh on flesh. It was unbearably wonderful being in her hot, tight, and most likely delicious center, and the amount of pleasure he was receiving was only enhanced by the domineering Lopunny on top. He was embarrassed to admit but he actually found it pretty fun letting Terra have her way with him. Ark shook his head trying to clear the effects Terra was having on him. Neither Mist nor Adair had warned him about the effects that heat could have on its receiver -- maybe for good reason, though he could not think of one at the time of his sex crazed beast atop him.

Terra felt a small spurt from her partner. She had gained a little more control but her need pushed her forward. She wanted it to end and she hated herself for acting this way. Deep down inside her, the primal instincts reveled as if they were feasting upon ambrosia. Secretly beneath all those feelings, in her cognizant mind she wanted all this. She wanted to mate constantly, living only for pleasure. It wasn't what heat was about, but it was an aspect. She knew why this intoxicating need to mate took place -- it was merely for expanding her population. The pleasure was there to ensure it happened, and what a persuasive thing it was. She felt the piercing shaft give a couple of twitches and spurt out fluid which her body took with great gusto.

Terra moaned passionately one last time as she withdrew the mighty sword from its scabbard. The passionate battle of her heat had come to an end for now, and hopefully for the day. However she was pretty sure that it would not be the case and she would of course get that uncontrollable urge yet again, most likely within a few hours. She couldn't keep herself under control for too long; her little 'washing' had proven that even a little stimulation could set her off.

"Ark... I'm sorry." Without even staying to hear his response she hurried out of the tent ashamed of herself.

Ark couldn't even begin to imagine what he should do. He felt her shame and wanted to do his best to ease it, but was unsure on how to go about doing it. He followed Terra out of the enclosure, trying to think of a way to put her at ease while doing so.

"Terra wait..." She paused instantly, she was no doubt trying to flee his nonexistent anger.

"What is it?" Terra asked not even bothering to turn around.

"Please look at me." The Lopunny did so, her face fixed on the ground as soft glistening tears rolled off her nose. "I... We knew about this beforehand, I knew that your heat was coming and we were prepared for it. I don't think you should be ashamed of yourself, Terra. It's not as if it was your choice."

Terra couldn't accept that she could be forgiven so easily. It was impossible. No one could ever forgive the one who took advantage of their lover. She was about to say something when Ark ran to her and embraced her tightly.

"Nothing you have ever done or ever could do would make me stop loving you, Terra." Ark said hugging her with all the love his body held. "I thought our oath proved that."

Terra melted like butter. She had forgotten all about it in her overly-emotional state. Of course he would forgive her. She was his mate and he would always find a way to forgive her no matter the sins she might commit.

"It seems that you've both had a very emotional mating session." Raven giggled cutely, watching everything that had taken place outside. She did let them have their fun in private though. "It's a good thing you two love each other, I'd hate to see what would have happened were you merely Pokémon and trainer." She invoked a dark feeling between the two lovers as they thought of exactly that.

"Yeah, it's a very good thing." Ark stated and Terra only nodded having nothing else to add.

"So what's the plan for today?" Raven asked.

"Well I thought we could go watch a couple of battles at the gym and figure out what kind of strategy we can come up with against the leader here. Supposedly she's pretty strong though I've only seen her on TV." answered Ark.

"Sounds like a decent plan. What do you say Terra? You are in your heat cycle if I'm correct. Things could get a bit... hairy if you started needing something again." Raven remarked.

"I...well, I think we should stay around here for the next two or three days. Perhaps practice some sign language and maybe find another member for our team. I don't really want anything to do with other humans. I just don't feel secure away from the wilderness." Terra admitted. It wasn't the true reason but it was reasonably close.

"Well I guess we can stick around here for that long. I have plenty of food and there should be a stream within walking distance. Speaking of food, what do you want for breakfast?" Ark asked the Lopunny who looked worried about what she'd said. Most likely she was hoping he wouldn't take offense to it, which of course he didn't.

"Oats sound good..." Terra felt a considerable weight lift from her shoulders. She was very sensitive in this cycle of hers. It had been repressed for a considerable amount of time. Now that she had a wonderful lover it felt like the flood gates had been opened and she was nearly drowning in emotions.

Ark gave Terra a quick peck and set to work determined to make the best oats he could. He poured a fair amount of the stale smelling water from his jug into the pot, and lit a fire. He reminded himself aggressively that he should replace the water every day as stale water was seldom good for anything unless it was boiled to get rid of anything that was growing in it.

After the water rolled into a boil and he added the oats he took pinches of whatever flavor enhancers he had and whatever Terra and Raven gathered; sugar, some berry juice (he stood clear of the pecha). Anything and everything that tasted like it would make something remotely edible went into the pot.. Remotely edible, it seemed as if that is what they would all live on for some time if he didn't make more money.

As Ark started stirring he mentally thanked his uncle for teaching him how to cook. It was by far the most useful skill he'd ever learned and probably would continue to be until the end of his life. He loved cooking. It was a passionate art of creation. Anyone could create something that fueled daily life and no matter what was cooked someone would eat it.

He fondly remembered the first breakfast he'd ever made. It wasn't anything fancy. Merely toast and a scrambled egg with a tad too much salt on top. It wasn't by any means the meal he wanted to make, but still it was permanently etched into his memory. He choked it down under the impression that his uncle would be angry if he didn't. To his surprise Draven asked for some when he came in from the morning milking.

The look on his face spoke to Ark in a way. He hadn't slept well last night and now he felt like he would collapse at any moment. He needed something to fill the void inside his stomach and maybe to invigorate him. Ark whipped up a batch of eggs in less than a minute. The love of his uncle seemed to guide his movements. He set the plate down and sprinkled just a pinch of salt on top. Draven looked at him in wordless sincere gratitude before he wolfed down the plate. A pleased expression filled his face as the taste filled his mouth. His uncle left to go do something without a word. He seemed to be glowing and had a noticeable spring in his step. It was then Ark realized that cooking was a talent that took love to master.

Love, of which he had a plentiful supply. Ingredients did matter too. All the love in the world couldn't make a scrumptious meal of oats but it did help. He mixed a couple of times more after removing the pot from the fire to even out the temperature and served the steaming bowls of oats to Terra and himself.

"Raven, would you like a bowl too?" Ark asked thoughtfully.

"Thank you but no, I see no point in 'eating' when I waste whatever I 'eat'. Thank you though."

"Not a problem." He replied. It hadn't occurred to him until now that she being a ghost and all wouldn't even need to eat, nor any number of things that normal 'living' beings needed to live.

Ark settled down with his bowl watching Terra eat. She looked almost like a human with the way she ate. He thanked himself again for teaching her how to use silverware.

The oats were of okay quality, a little too sweet and under flavored. It wasn't perfect like say waffles were, but as far as a meal went it tasted good enough for Terra. She ravaged two bowls before even starting to feel its filling effect. She must have been hungrier than she'd thought; perhaps an effect of her heat. She did remember how she was always nearly starving in it before. At least this time she had something to fill both of her body's hungers.

"Thank you my love." Terra said giving Ark a kiss before she put away her bowl. Instantly she wished she hadn't. Her body flared with the insatiable desire to mate. She collapsed, panting, as the powerful urge filled her to a near breaking point. Then just as suddenly it fell away.

"-Odd-" She thought. "-This shouldn't have happened. My heat doesn't just go away like that...-"

"I thought you would both like a break from mating while I spoke with you two." A figure emerged quite suddenly directly in front of the fire. It would have impressed Ark more had the sudden appearance made a sound or something to proclaim its arrival. Instead it was there as if it had always been there, just he hadn't noticed it until now. As far as he could tell it didn't even come from outside the camping area. How could it when it had fresh snow on its body?

The figure warmed itself for a brief moment and brushed the quickly melting snow from its body. Its body was wrapped in what looked like several layers of winter clothing. It stripped off the layers quickly revealing the figure's true form, which then mumbled something along the lines of "Damn teleportation."

"Uncle!" Ark cried as he embraced his uncle. "It feels like so long since I've seen you."

"The feeling is mutual I assure you. I wanted to check up on you earlier but that would have compromised my... duties." His face held a neutral expression as he surveyed the campsite. "I'm glad you've remembered everything I taught you about living off the land. I almost thought you never paid attention to what I tried to teach you. So you found a name for your little lover. Adair has kept me informed about your little budding relationship, but not how intense it was or even the small detail of your mate's name."

"I am Terra." Terra signed, very sure that Draven wouldn't pick it up.

"Pleased to meet you." Draven signed with a smile. "Sign language is such a wonderful thing to know, secretive and very helpful to use in the company of people that have hearing deficiencies." He finished with his voice.

"Thank you for sending Ark to find a Pokémon. I can't tell you what I would have done without him." Terra could in fact say what she would have done but she didn't think it would be something to say in company.

"Well, I believe the pleasure is all Ark's. Seeing as how you two are mated and all. It's so nice to see him with you. I always thought most humans wouldn't make decent mates. Some have the ability to be wonderful ones but they usually fall for Pokémon themselves. I think there is a reason for that but I've yet to ask the right questions to the right people to figure out for sure."

"Well, it is and I'm pretty sure you're right. Anyway, was there any other reason for coming here besides visiting us?" Ark asked hoping it was a negative answer.

"This visit is strictly personal, though it's not limited to only you. However, I don't think I need to say that you were the top priority on my list." Draven hugged Ark tightly.

"Thanks, Uncle." Ark said putting his full force into the hug.

"I...I cant even begin to tell you how proud I am. I cant even describe how it feels to see you truly happy with someone. Hell, just seeing you happy puts a spring into my step." A couple of silent tears ran down Draven's face. "Ark, no matter what anyone says you'll always be like a son to me. The son I was never able to have. While the conditions for you coming to live with me weren't ideal... I'm glad that it all happened. It made a wonderful lifelong impact on my life for the better." Draven couldn't even pretend that any part of that was false. He'd lost so much before Ark came, his mate being the biggest. It almost filled the hole in his heart, seeing Ark with Terra and now he had once more a Pokémon in his immediate family. Knowing that was probably the best news he'd received in a long time.

"Thanks, Uncle." Ark said, pleased that his uncle welcomed this relationship.

"Not a problem. Terra, please take good care of him."

"I shall." Terra signed.

"And I will too." Raven said from behind Draven, startling him.

"And who might this be?" Draven asked.

"Raven. It's a pleasure to meet you, uncle of Ark."

"The pleasure's mine, Madame. Oh, and before I go... The heat is going to be back at least four-fold after about a minute. I suggest you prepare, Ark." Draven's eyes twinkled. "You're about to embark on an amazing journey." Ark's uncle then vanished as quietly as he'd appeared. Pure silence dropped like a heavy blanket upon the campsite.

It was deathly quiet except for the dull crackle coming from the dying coals of the fire. Nervousness grew as the thirty second mark came and went ever so quietly before the silence was breached.

"I suppose we should go our separate ways for the time being. I think some privacy is needed for you two."

"Thank you, Raven." Ark said, and with that the Duskull left the lovers alone.

Ark had barely enough time to adjust the covers inside the tent before getting tackled by a sex-crazed Lopunny without eye-tufts.
