--Legend of Lupus--

I was one with the spirits. I was one with nature. I was one with my family and with the tribe. Perfection can be only almost reached, and life in the tribe was as good as it got. Coexistence between the different radicals of life, the trees and flowers, the wolves and falcons, the Mana and the Taluk, the spirits and souls. For most of my life, I believed that everyone and everything lived as happy and healthy as I did.

The young Mana had no worries; the matriarchs never left their hallowed ground, the fauna felt forever safe and the flora had forsaken intelligence eternally, without forsaking a meaningful life and existence. However, the warrior Mana and the Taluk were destined for something bigger altogether. Their intricate bond to the whole concept of existence has a reason: Balance.

They exist as a counter to the other much different aspects of the universe. And while sometimes harmful, the negative aspects are no less important. Part of life in the tribe is spent trying to comprehend how everything has a reason and understanding the different benefits. The elders never speak of the exact origins of our bond with the Mana, but it has existed for a very long time. When a Mana son nears adulthood, if he is a destined warrior he will be bound with a Taluk. This process is very important to the tribe and the ceremony is held for all the tribespeople to see. The son's family will sometimes help him adapt to the upcoming event.

After the initial binding, the united souls will repeat the process nightly for four years, then past that point they must search for their inspiration in an intimate quest. After four more years, the ritual enters Transgression, this where the bonding courtship further intensifies in order to fuse Mana and Taluk into a single entity for the greater good. This end to their journey together results in either the sacrifice of a Mana for the balance, or the splitting paths of the Mana and the Taluk. It is always hard, no matter the outcome.

Sometimes the fusion is not something everyone wants, but ultimately they all commit bravely.

***

My names Mahal; and I no longer tread with the tribe. Instead, I travel the immensity of life to provide balance if it is necessary, and only so. Time has tested me and humbled me, and I know I am ready. The only thing left is the epiphany. It is all orchestrated as it did once before and shall do once again. But those depths I don't ponder any further. Having left the tribe was fairly daunting, because in it everything and everyone is united and thus there is absolute safety and love. But it allowed me to see the bigger aspect of my upbringing, and to further understand and appreciate it all the more. Within the family there are no such things as impure thoughts, it was commonplace for young bound Mana and their Taluk to daydream of each other when they were apart. I still revisit those memories fondly, just like they were yesterday. Nostalgia even kicks in; it was a truly exceptional time.

It became strange to realize that the ritual is very, very sexually explicit, where the whole tribe is knowledgeable and fully accepts and encourages it. It is their way. This sex between male Mana and Taluk empowers them both. The final Transgression ceremony is a day-long courtship that involves the lupine spirits of old. If it is successful, the fused being is an embodiment of the leaving Mana and Taluk, bound by a powerful wolf spirit called the Fanfir. This new powerful and fated bound soul is worshipped by the name of Maha-Kanus, and they merge the strength, grace, beauty and wisdom of Mana, Taluk and Fanfir in a single perfect body.

I did not accomplish that transformation, and I truly did not wish to. My Mana-la, Tayu, was in love. And he loved me like a part of him just like I, but he loved a beautiful Mana femme, and they wished for a family. It was slightly out of order, but I understood this as part of his higher nature as human. And the sexual rituals with his graceful body and love were truly awespiring, but my own conviction for his happiness was even more.

  • "I wish for your legacy to somehow become a part of my son or daughter like you are part of me." - He told me the day I left.

Tears were shed but my heart sang with the gracious departure.

...

I too learned of what I truly was. An incubus, a Mana-like being with wings, tail, fangs and claws. We are like leeches, built exactly for sex. I too learned that this age old ritual was truly unique. We Taluk are specially bred. A normal incubus would corrupt with the power drained from males, but we Taluk are immune. And I was surprised to learn that there were several tribes like mine, that while separate; they had the same worldview. They may be like us, all Taluk males, or they can be mixed, or even all females.

The Mana tribesmen are proficient in a lost art that once bound men and demons: Summoning. Of those that don't Transgress, a few that don't choose a mate instead choose to become shamans. They become the teachers and the mystics of the tribe. The mated Mana hunt and build, and the females sew and gather. We Taluk are summoned at dawn and returned at twilight by the shaman Mana. There is no other way to connect. It is their way. As such, the Taluk make a tribe of their own when they're under rituals.

However, not all Taluk in the tribe will know of each other. Sometimes they have very different lives. I too learned that the bound souls are called different outside the tribe, but that the principles are the same. Familiars, shikigami... it's the same thing I was taught. I was Tayu's familiar, and in a way, I still am. The signing process is the same, too. sharing a portion of their essence, with their hearts aligned like two suns pressed together.

This will activate unique instincts and make the master's essence pure, if otherwise it would be damaging. That all translates to a unique advantage. The only way to break the bond is if the master dies, which results in a year of mourning for the familiar. It is a bond that connects through marvelous distances and dimensions.

You will feel anxious without him. You will feel his happiness, his pleasure and his pain. I knew all that too closely. But right now I was in a period of leisure Near a pond in the forest I'd been wandering, I looked back at myself. As a Taluk, it was something new to me, I had never seen a reflection of mine. My eyes showed me much to be thankful for. I was taught to always favor the inner over the outer; the eye was the easiest to fool.

But I look at the casted light on the still water, and I saw mountain ranges, firm, round and healthy with the color of fertile soil. It was the body that Tayu saw all that time, and as I contemplated, I only reminded myself more of Tayu. It was easy to remember seeing and loving the firm, explicit formations on Tayu's body, caressing his soft tanned skin. It all came back to me more vividly than ever before...

***

The first time I met Tayu had a few other firsts preceding it. For example, I had never experienced a summon, and in all honesty not many demons expect to be summoned. It was during the first half of my second year of lonesome adulthood, which had been till that point pretty uneventful. Portal warping is something one gets used to because its part of demon life. but summoning is something else altogether; that while similar it is also much more powerful.

And with the Taluk-Mana tribe even more so because they are hidden from the world they are part of. It is a phenomenon that beckons to you, there is no sign or warning; It just happens. And the first ime it cripples you. If you succumb, you're spirited away to the caller's prescience, and that's exactly what happened to me.

I can remember how hard it became to breathe, in a moment of seconds that somehow stretched time to feel like hours. The magic enveloped and overpowered me, and next thing I knew I was somewhere else.

...

Confusion was the first thing to wash over me when I saw all those peeping full of wonder and me the center of their attention.

  • Whaaaah!" - I meeped and scrambled to a seated position.

My feelings of wanting to flee dissipated when I saw Tayu smile at me. Everyone was pleased to see me there, proof that their summon had worked like a thousand other times.

The younger ones looked with curiosity, but Tayu just had yearning instead. I just stared back at the young boy, oblivious to the yearning I too felt for him right then and there.

  • "Taluk..." - The apparent village leader offered me a hand.

He helped me stand, and his hand kept mine firmly wrapped.

  • "I know this is confusing to you, but all will be explained shortly. We are people of peace." - The chief spoke solemnly to me, and it was impossible to treat those words as anything but the truth.

I had never talked or heard humans outside of the sounds they inevitably made when fed upon, but I understood all that he said as if he were just another demon.

...

  • "We revere your kind, it has been so since the birth of this tribe. At the end of each cycle, we all gather to summon a Taluk, offer him gifts and kindly request his help. They may choose to stay, or for us to send them back..." -

The chief had introduced himself to me as Kalaak, and he took me to a separate tent and began to explain why I was there and what was going to happen.

Their houses seemed feeble, being made of straw, trees and animal skin. Inside the lighting was dim, the sunlight barely filtering through. As we seated, I just contemplated Kalaak. He certainly looked past middle aged, but it did not come with a loss in his definition. Kalaak looked just as powerful and graceful on his olive skin as any of the adult tribesmen. He wore a short loincloth that was probably made out of a puma, and a headband with falcon feathers to signal his status -8 in total- .

Being the leader, he was referred to as Kram-Kalaak. The word Kram is relevant to the broader aspect of their culture and mythology. He also carried a javelin, which was adorned with special marks and odd colored feathers. Something about the place gave me patience. Of id been subjected to human interaction in any other way, I probably would've just left. They definitely know what they're doing.

  • "Before I continue... you have a name, Taluk? -

I quickly caught on that Taluk referred to what I was. The difference between me and them.

  • "I'm Mahal. - I breathed; and Kalaak had a very pleased look on his face.

  • "Ah, wouldn't you know? That's a Manataluk name." - His smile was framed with very precise wrinkles.

  • "Wha- what does it mean?" - His answer got me very curious.

  • "The power to give time its space." - He assured.

At the time I was just confused about his answer, but later I was sure that my name meant Patience.

  • "Now, Mahal. I will try to make my explanation brief. I am not here to test you, only to ask for your grace, Taluk." - With that said, his gaze fixated perfectly on mine, then he breaks into a slight bow.

  • "Ah... please, tell me more." - I told Kalaak.

...

And he did, he told me everything. I was in awe at how a human, no, a group of humans could hold so much reverence for all that was life.

Once he was done talking to me, he took me to watch the Mana youth during their recreation. We walked behind Kalaak's tent, using a vague road that lead to a creek, which was fed by a nearby waterfall. There, we saw a sextet of Mana that were near their adulthood. I quickly recognized them as part of my welcoming group.

Some wore loincloths and others didn't. Some had long hair, or silky hair or very short. They were all ranging from averagely muscled to fairly buff, within their youthful constitution. They all shared a tanned olive skin, which glimmered with smoothness. The lads practiced techniques they would use to subdue animals on each other in the water.

I had never lusted for humans, but the tribespeople I was seeing were beautiful beings. It all caused reactions that I simply could not help.

  • "Heheh." - I heard Kalaak chuckle and place a hand on my shoulder which made me meep.

  • "You're fine, Mahal. Quite fine. Don't be ashamed to feel good of what you're seeing. They're gorgeous. You'll be bound to one of them if you so wish it." - Kalaak then stated jovially.

I was to be bound with one of those boys, and that really got me thinking. This was a service to life, no just getting a willing human partner.

  • "Mahal, pick a partner. Their fathers went through this and they're very expectant for a Taluk guide for their sons." - Kalaak reassured me, trying to calm the feeling of guilt that I was exuding.

So I focused on the young man that connected with me. I was surprised to find him in particular looking my way every chance he could. He had nothing on, and I was enchanted once again.

  • "I... I think I know." - I told Kalaak.

He then shouted for the boys' attention in their native language, which was incomprehensible to me. The six of them turned our way and sprinted as they could to our prescience, sloshing awkwardly in the creek water.

Once in front of Kalaak and me, it was interesting to compare their heights. Kalaak was taller than any of us, and the boys and I were about the same height.

  • "Well, our Taluk guest graciously accepted to share his virtues with us, and now he shall choose a partner." - Kalaak declared.

  • "Voice out your names, lads." - he then ordered. From left to right, they were: Ramal, Ken, Tayu, Nahuel, Rukane and Joehl. I already knew who I wanted, and nonhesitantly pointed at Tayu.

The gorgeous boy that was eyeing me every time I was around him, and I gave him once-overs to absorb his prescience. He had short black hair and a fairly wide nose. His complexion was also a bit lighter. And his naked form was perfect all over.

  • "So Tayu, seems that you're Mahal's Mana-la. I can only wonder what life will treat you two with." - Kalaak commented, after getting a few congratulatory pats from his peers.

I smiled as the boy approached me. There were some nerves affecting me, admittedly.

  • "Mahal, I'm yours to guide." - Tayu said as he stood in front of me and bowed into my chest with both hands on me as well.

  • "Ah..." - I wasn't sure how to react, surely that was Manataluk gesture.

  • "Like this." - Kalaak instructed me by placing my hand on Tayu's head.

  • "Do I... have to say anything?" - I wondered.

  • "Hahah! No, Mahal, Tayu understands." - He then told me.

The boy retreated from his bow and grinned widely at me.

  • "It's an honor, Mahal. Now come with me, please." - Tayu said as he grabbed my hand, pulling me behind his trail.

...

I was bound from that point to the beautiful Tayu, and surely I stopped feeling guilty about how much I enjoyed looking at him. It clearly reflected on the lower part of my body, but Kalaak just thought of it as natural, in a - "You'll grow out of it" - kind of manner. After Kalaak poured his wisdom on me and Tayu gleefully became my Mana-la, I was taken to the prescience of Tarik and Naya, parents of Tayu.

They assessed me in a very intricate manner, squeezing and caressing my body and examining me carefully, never lewd. Both adults were just as handsome and Tayu, and I felt odd being before them. but they were glad their son was bound to a Taluk. That was clear in their faces.

Having a Taluk guide did not make them any better than their peers, maybe it even made their lives harder. Probably, they may have been just as pleased without his binding to a Taluk.

  • "You're part of us now, Mahal. Welcome." - Tarik held my shoulders and looked into my eyes when he told me that I was part of a human family.

A demon being part of a human family.

...

Time flew by and I still was having a hard time taking all of it in.

Tayu took me on a tour out the woods, almost dancing between the roots and branches of the trees. These tribespeople were wonderfully peaceful... How could my demon life be any more fulfilling than theirs?

It took me many years to understand and come to terms with it all...

  • "Why are all you kids excited for a... Taluk?" - I asked Tayu as we walked on his impromptu tour.

  • "Taluk that stay allow us to thread into the higher path of the Fanfir. I mean, it is a lie to say that there's no tedium here." - He answered matter-of-factly.

  • "Ah, you all want extra excitement in your lives." - I concluded.

  • "Of course, man! There's hunting and gathering and the shamanic arts. But nothing compares to the tour of enlightment of the Taluk." - Tayu expressed excitedly, giving me a half-hug and a happy look.

  • "Heheh, allright." - Tayu then had my arm tighter on his grasp.

  • "How about I show you how to take down a deer?" - He shifted his position to block my path.

  • "Ah, what's this about?" -

  • "Taking a big animal using its own weight." - He said simply.

Then one of his legs found its way behind my heel and he slid it back. That took my right leg off the ground, and he cradled against me, then using a hand on my shoulder to further take out my balance. And just like that, a dull thump announced my complete takedown.

  • "Arrgh!" -

I was flat on the ground in a second, and Tayu laid on top of me, his head hovering above mine with the smile that so far hadn't come of.

  • "Ugh..." - I groaned.

  • "You do take a deer that way, but you need at least two more guys." - Tayu joked with a smirk.

  • "So... you eat them then?" -

  • "Yep. Got to have some meat on our bones." - Tayu bounced, and that image struck me as a little gross. The whole eating meat image...

  • "Ew." -

  • "Yeah well, we do have to ask for blessings before we eat. We can skip that, but then you usually feel guilty. An animal's life is lost, after all. It's part of the balance, but still." -

I heard Tayu and understood everything, but I mainly focused on how nice Tayu's lips looked, how great it felt to have his warm body on mine, and how wonderful it was his smell of wild spices. I was supposed to be some sort of guide, but I had barely had started my own journey through life. Next thing I knew, I had Tayu's lips tied with mine. His hear thumped faster against mine. With another thought, my lips pressed further with his, and he reacted in the same way.

This repeated like any kiss would, because it was simply too good. A direct shot of pleasure to the soul. I just let go, and we showered each other with kisses for a long moment.

I was a while before Tayu paused by retreating his head a little.

  • "I don't think I'm doing a good job at guiding you. I mean, I barely started a journey myself. There's not a lot I can show a human." - I muttered, and Tayu just pecked another kiss.

  • "You're doing fine. The first part of the higher path is release. To let go. To prevent lesser thoughts from inhibiting what simply has to happen." - Tayu explained very calmly.

I just breathed easy and let a grin creep onto my face.

  • "What has to happen next?" - The boy asked intently.

  • "I want to tie myself with you." - I told him.

  • "Show me." - He replied with inexorable lust.

I wasn't sure if I felt love for Tayu at that moment. I had just met the boy, I had just become part of a wonderful tribe that made me question my existence. But there I was, powerfully attracted to the boy, with freedom to do anything I wanted with him.

I flipped us in order to get Tayu under me. He giggled at the shift, and I quickly had my tongue tasting his warm body. It ran over the mound of Tayu's chest, squishing into the muscle ever so slightly, descending into the valley between the twin formation, and taking a tour down his firm belly. My hands held his youthful thighs and descended along with my body as I further searched for his maleness.

He was just as naked as I, nothing to interrupt or slow down the sharing of our pleasure. I granted him ecstasy as I tasted his most significant part. It was well sized, and I just sucked on its shape and taste. Tayu moaned blissfully, not too loud but in a very adorable way.

My hands pushed his thighs forward to expose his entrance, and my mouth quickly found its way around it, my tongue slickening the velvety texture of his insides.

And without delay, I shifted to align our hips, and with the help of hand and a trust, I had tied with Tayu. My own maleness sliding into my Mana-La with only medium trouble, and I thrusted into him.

...

I united with Tayu in the repetitions and motions of our bodies so intimate together. Soon it all culminated in liquid, wonderfully tasting bliss. All that on the floor of the forest.

***

Eyes stared back at me from the water. I had lost myself in the daydream of the firs day. Ambrosia also floated near my reflection, my own liquid bliss.

  • "Oh... I let myself go there. Oh, Tayu." -

I stood, and looked around.

Surely an epiphany would come soon. My true purpose in the world.

Fanfir, guide me.
