A Glimmer of Hope

"Lefy and Frinda decided to... come have a talk with me. Those two are such a strange pair," Sabetha said giggling softly sitting on the pillar with Sapphire a few feet away.

"I-I just didn't want to upset you! Tremi has never talked about anything like this before, I... I just wanted to make Elisa happy, I didn't do it to be bad!" Sabetha exclaimed turning around facing Tremi eye to eye with an apologetic look beginning to cry herself.

"Sabetha, I am your friend. You know I am here for you if you ever need to tell me anything... I will never judge you, I will never truly be angry with you either Sabetha. You are growing up, blossoming into a woman," Tremi murmured with a fond smile on her face. Sabetha stared at Tremi with a trembling face, losing her composure wrapping her arms around Tremi stepping forwards burying her face into Tremi's chest breaking out crying. Tremi sighed softly sliding her hands up Sabetha's back moving one hand to tenderly hold Sabetha's head in place, a tiny smile on her face with half closed eyes.

"I-I promise Tremi... if I'm sad, confused, or scared... I'll tell Tremi, I won't hide anything," Sabetha said in a trembling tone rubbing her face up and down Tremi's chest keeping her in a tight embrace.

"I know, Sabetha... I knew you were doing it for a good reason... you would never act out to cause hatred from others, that's just not Sabetha," Tremi murmured slowly running her hand down the back of Sabetha's hair. Sabetha let out a shaky sigh stepping back breaking the pairs embrace wiping her face with the back of her hand.

"T-Tremi... if... if I can't find a cure and I really do change into something else... will you stay with me?" Sabetha asked staring at Tremi with shaking, tear filled eyes. Tremi snickered softly reaching out a hand gently caressing Sabetha's cheek.

"It is you on the inside whom I care for Sabetha, not what you are on the outside. I will always remain at your side, I promise," Tremi said with a gentle smile. A wide, yet shaky smile grew across Sabetha's face as she walked back over to Tremi hugging her once again slowly rubbing her face up and down Tremi's dress just wanting to feel the warmth from her sister.

Sabetha stared at her confused.

"But... Tremi is a Pokemon. That means you should be fine with it, right?" Sabetha asked, Tremi sighed softly closing her eyes.

"I... I get such pleasure from simply being at your side, seeing you smile happily living life to it's fullest... that is what I yearn for," Tremi said softly. A small grin grew across Sabetha's face.

"So... after all the years we spent together, you never once thought about me in that way? You never thought about touching me in those places?" Sabetha asked bluntly. Tremi stepped back staring at Sabetha with wide, shocked eyes. Her normal calm, collected demeanor had vanished being replaced by a stunned expression at how open and bold Sabetha was being. "I mean... you said friends and lovers, right? Well, Tremi is my best friend... no, my sister. I care for Tremi a lot," Sabetha said smiling. Tremi sharply looked to one side glowing red in embarrassment.

"T-This is not a topic that should be discussed, Sabetha," She said in a shaken up tone. Sabetha covered her mouth giggling.

"It's ok. I see Tremi doesn't, I was just curious. It's still scary to me too! It's all new, but... I can't say I won't do it again, Tremi," Sabetha said looking down slightly. Tremi glanced at her from the corner of her eyes.

"...It's time for sleep," Tremi said changing the subject entirely. Sabetha snickered softly walking over to Tremi looking up at her.

"Tremi... even if I don't say it enough, I really am grateful for everything you have done for me... you're a good Sister," Sabetha said smiling fondly. Tremi slowly turned her head to face Sabetha closing her eyes.

"...Please stay still," Tremi said reaching out a hand grabbing Sabetha's hand, her warmth ebbing into Sabetha's own hand causing her smile to widen staring at their hands.

"Tremi never changes," Sabetha thought giggling to herself as a bright flash of light lit up the chamber as they vanished. But little did they know, something was watching them intently...

~*~ After returning to the camp, the pair fell asleep in each others arms. They are awoken the next morning with news that will change everything...~*~

"Hehehe! I sent Uncle Joseph a message last night talking about you, and he replied this morning saying he would be delighted to meet you and take a look at you," Sapphire said smiling widely.

"Well, you never asked. I didn't know you knew of him in truth," Sapphire said smiling weakly, Sabetha fell over.

"He's world renowned for his advances in Pokemon genetics often attributed to saving entire regions from disease and sickness!" Sabetha exclaimed holding her arms out dramatically.

"Hehehe, yep! That's why I asked if he would see you since we're going to pass by his house in a day or two. I'm not sure he can help you find a cure, but I'm pretty sure he can figure out the technical side of what was done to you and refer us to someone who can help!" Sapphire exclaimed clasping her hands together smiling widely. Sabetha stared off in disbelief, finally... a glimmer of light in her nightmare, a glimmer of hope.

"He lives on route eight hundred and nineteen just west of the metropolis city of Dilo! But first we need to pass through a very special mountain called Mount Yumi, then make our way through Dilo and then it's a short walk from there!" Sapphire exclaimed smiling cheerfully. Sabetha leaped to her feet with a wide grin on her face. Both Elisa and Tremi looked at her.

"Then what are we waiting for?! There's no time to waste!" She exclaimed snatching up her backpack tossing it onto her back. "Come on you two! Are you with me on this?!" Sabetha asked in an excited, determined tone. Elisa and Tremi nodded their heads in unison each having a smile on their faces.

"And you?!" Sabetha asked pointing at Sapphire still grinning.

"Hehehe! If I wasn't wanting to do it, why would I have contacted him?" Sapphire asked smiling. Sabetha slouched over glaring at Sapphire.

"Show some enthusiasm darn it, you killjoy!" Sabetha shouted pointing at Sapphire with slitted eyes. Tremi's smile widened having not seen Sabetha act so truly happy in many years.

~*~ Having finished packing up, the group set off not wasting to a single precious moment ~*~

"So, have you had a battle with another trainer yet?" Sapphire asked curiously, the group was making their way uphill, the terrain growing more rugged as they went along.

"Me? Nope," Sabetha said smiling glancing back at Tremi following shortly behind the girls. "Tremi really hates violence, I got her to the level she is now simply by rare candy my Uncle brought us every Christmas as a gift for her," Sabetha explained giggling. Tremi looked to one side blushing shyly.

"Hmmmmm... that's not good though. If you meet a bad trainer, they could hurt you badly. Remember, Pokemon are not good or evil, only the trainer giving them orders can be evil," Sapphire lectured her with an upheld finger acting as a teacher, "and besides protecting you, it builds trust between you and your Pokemon, trust as a team! You may not be fighting yourself, but you are coaching them, giving them orders! They must trust you beyond a doubt as you must trust them too." Sapphire smiled, glancing down at Frinda following alongside seemingly oblivious of the conversation.

"Yea, well... I just don't want to force Tremi to do something she hates," Sabetha said feeling torn on the topic.

"If I must fight to protect Sabetha, I will," Tremi stated firmly. Sabetha looked back at her with surprise, a smile growing across her face.

"How about after we get to my Uncles we have a match? Just to practice of course. Me and Frinny will give you the basic crash course of it," Sapphire said smiling cheerfully.

"Sure. Tremi? Elisa?" Sabetha asked looking back at the Pokemon. Elisa looked down with disappointed eyes letting out a soft murmur.

"She says she does not know how to work with a trainer," Tremi translated.

"Hehehe! It's easy! Yeesh, what a strange group you are! A trainer who hasn't battled, and Pokemon who hate battling!" Sapphire exclaimed giggling loudly. Sabetha glared at her with slitted eyes.

"At least I don't have a sadistic, controlling Glaceon or a dimwitted spaztic Leafeon," Sabetha grumbled under her breath in retaliation.

"Oh yay, another cave. Our last little adventure only landed us up nearly getting killed by a really, really grumpy Geodude," Sabetha said sighing loudly slouching over now standing before a small entrance in the side of the mountain.

"Ahhh, Mount Yumi, the Mountain of Dreams as it's called. The entire mountain is lined with these beautiful crystals that emit a soft, calming glow. It's said if you sleep within the recesses of the mountain, you will never once have a nightmare, instead only having pleasant, wonderful dreams," Sapphire explained letting out a soft sigh. "But that's also why it's called the Mountain of false hope. Some come here and live within the mountain losing touch of reality, beginning to believe the dreams are reality," Sapphire said in a disturbed tone.

"That's really sad," Sabetha said shaking her head. "But we should get going, I'm feeling really yancy," Sabetha said smiling at Sapphire, who giggled smiling back.

"Both of you, do not touch anything at all. I do not wish for a repeat of last time," Tremi said sternly walking past the pair raising up a hand causing a light to appeared just as she disappeared into the cave.

"Hehehe, she's got a good point, no touching anything. Got it Frinny?" Sapphire asked looking down at the Glaceon who stared at her with a smirk as if saying she isn't dumb enough to do what they did.

"Wow! So pretty!" Sabetha exclaimed with a wide, excited smile staring at the roof high above. Hundreds of large prismatic crystal grew from the ceiling with sharp tips, a faint light bathed the area.

"Yep! I spent a few days in here taking pictures, it's such a neat place!" Sapphire exclaimed with a cheerful smile on her face. Frinda looked up at Sabetha with a disgruntled look causing her to burst out giggling.

"By Frinda's look you spent those days ONLY taking pictures," Sabetha said smiling. Sapphire shook her head.

"Nope. The caves running in this mountain are insanely long! I was exploring it trying to find hidden chambers supposedly that haven't been found yet, but I had no luck," Sapphire said snapping her fingers.

"Hehe. They're undiscovered for a reason, likely not even reachable like that pit we fell into in the other cave," Sabetha said smiling following a pulsing yellow arrow guiding travelers safely through the cave.

"How long does it take to get to the other side?" Sabetha asked. Sapphire looked up tapping her chin.

"Hm. About four hours if we walk at a normal speed. Don't worry, there's no Pokemon on the main path, they stay in the deeper parts so there's no need to worry about another grumpy Geodude chasing us down making our trip go quicker, hehehe!" Sapphire said covering her mouth giggling loudly. Sabetha snickered softly navigating their way down the narrow passage being lit by the crystals.

"Do not fear the path that you walk," a voice whispered into Sabetha's ear causing her to shiver looking back at Tremi behind her.

"W-What did you just whisper into my ear?" Sabetha asked getting a puzzled stare from Tremi.

"I have not said anything?" Tremi replied staring at Sabetha in concern.

"A-Ahahaha... it must have been the wind," Sabetha said laughing sheepishly shrugging it off.

"Your fate cannot be denied... you cannot run from it," a voice whispered. Sabetha gritted her teeth , a vein popping out on her forehead looking back.

"Who keeps whispering in my ear with that creepy voice?!" Sabetha exclaimed angrily staring down the empty path.

"Uhm... Tremi is up here with me, and Elisa can't talk?" Sapphire asked looking back at Sabetha in concern. Elisa and Frinda were both staring at her as well.

"Twice now, someone whispered something in my ear!" Sabetha exclaimed quickly looking behind herself half expecting someone to be shadowing her as a prank, but there was not another soul for as far as she could see in the glimmering light.

"Are you certain?" Tremi asked stopping beside Sabetha staring down the passage.

"Of course! I'm already weird enough, I don't need people saying that I hear disembodied voices now, or that I'm insane!" Sabetha exclaimed sighing loudly slouching over. "Just... just forget it. I must be losing it being so excited," Sabetha muttered shaking her head continuing on her way.

"There is nobody following us, Sabetha. I do not smell the scent of a human nor Pokemon, nor do I feel the presence of one," Tremi stated calmly walking beside Sabetha keeping a look out behind them.

"It must be noises bouncing off the cave walls then," Sabetha said having calmed down.

"The darkness awaits you on the path ahead, turn back while there is still time," a voice whispered into Sabetha's ear. Sabetha stopped dead in her tracks her face twitching with a demented smile growing across her face.

"AHHHHHHHH!!! WILL YOU GO THE HELL AWAY WHOEVER, OR WHATEVER YOU ARE?!?!" Sabetha screamed at the top of her lungs. The others literally jumped out of their skin being taken by surprise at the violent outburst.

"Wow, wow! Calm down Sabetha!" Sapphire exclaimed holding her hands up. Sabetha panted heavily her left eye twitching with a deranged expression on her face.

"I swear, when I find who is doing this... YOU'RE GOING TO GET BEATEN SILLY!" Sabetha shouted down the tunnel behind them, her voice echoing off the walls being the only reply.

"'The Darkness awaits you on the path ahead, turn back while there is still time'," Sabetha quoted causing the others to stare at her dumbfounded, she flinched. "T-That's what it whispered!" Sabetha exclaimed. A tense, awkward silence fell across the group. "Damnit!! Let's just get out of this bloody cave!" Sabetha snapped angrily.

"A-Ahahaha, ok. We should be reaching a really big chamber soon. So if someone is following us, we'll be able to see them there, ok?" Sapphire said trying to calm Sabetha down. Sabetha let out a shaky sigh slowly nodding her head trying to calm down knowing being angry wasn't helping the situation.

"There's someone ahead," Tremi stated calmly seeing a pair of shadows blocking the pathway ahead.

"Well, that's normal. This is basically the only way to go through unless you want to try and scale the mountain," Sapphire explained giggling walking ahead of the group.

"Excuse us, we need to get past please," Sapphire called out seeing a pair of figures with their back to them.

"Huh?" one of the figures muttered looking back over their shoulder staring at Sapphire with a rude smirk, long, untamed dirty blonde hair partially covered his eyes. "Piss off you little brat. We're conducting official business here," the man said. Sapphire flinched, frowning angrily.

"You do not have any rights to deny access to a public pathway, now I will ask again, please allow us through," Sapphire said in a sharp tone. The man turned around glaring at Sapphire threatening, but more importantly was the large L symbol on his chest with a dragon like creature wrapped around it. Both Sabetha and Tremi's eyes had widened in horror staring at the figure in a lucid green uniform.

"Wait, Team Lucid?!" Sapphire exclaimed in surprise stepping back. The other man turned around with a rather pissed off frown on his face, his eyes had a very cruel look to them, well trimmed short black hair adorned his head.

"That's right you little brat. Now get the hell out of here, the path is closed. If you want to argue about it, we'll happily show you what we do to mouthy little brats who don't know their place," the man said glaring at Sapphire with cruel eyes.

"Hey wait a minute, weren't we told to watch for some brat with a Gardevoir??" the blond hair man asked in a lofty tone rubbing the back of his head deep in thought.

"Yea, you're right," the dark haired man said stepping towards the group, they stepped back. "You! Can this Pokemon talk?" the man asked in a forceful tone pointing at Tremi who was desperately trying to keep her rage contained glaring at the man.

"What? Are you stupid? Pokemon don't talk," Sabetha said laughing shakily knowing acting rash now would be incredibly dangerous since they obviously did not know they were indeed the pair they were after.

"You insolent little... make it speak! Its call!" the man snapped angrily thrusting his finger at Tremi. Sabetha hesitated knowing Tremi wasn't capable of doing it.

"N-No. She's uhm... really, really shy around strangers," Sabetha said smiling shakily clearly lying through her teeth. The cruel eyed man glared at Sabetha suspiciously not believing a word she was saying.

"Come on, Joe. It ain't them, we were told they would run if they were. If we leave out post the boss will have our ass." the blond haired said in a lofty tone grabbing the other mans arm.

"Hmph... it's your lucky day," Joe the cruel eyed man said with a grunt of disgust turning away.

"Actually, it's yours," Sabetha muttered in a snarky tone. The others suddenly gasped in shock watching Sabetha go sailing backwards crashing onto the rocky floor.

"Arrogant little bitch!" Joe shouted in a vicious tone, his arm raised to one side having backhanded Sabetha right across the face for her comment.

"How dare you touch Sabetha with your filthy hands!" Tremi snapped in a dark tone raising a hand up, a bright glow appearing around the man as he began to rise into the air causing him to cry out in surprise looking down.

"Shit! It talked?! Ah shit shit shit, it IS them!!" the other man exclaimed stepping back wide eyed in fear.

"Shut up you fucking idiot and get me down!!" Joe shouted thrashing around in the air completely powerless against Tremi. Sabetha grunted softly as she rose to her feet wiping away a small splat of blood from her lip.

"But... how?! How did you know about us? The two Team Lucid members were arrested!" Sabetha shouted in disbelief not understanding how they knew the pair were in this region, her heart racing in fear.

"Wait, Team Lucid is the ones who are chasing you?!" Sapphire exclaimed wide eyed in shock. Sabetha nodded her head quickly keeping her eyes focused on the pair.

"Disappear," Tremi said in a dark, harsh tone flicking her wrist forwards. Joe was suddenly launched through the entrance into the next chamber his scream of surprise echoing out until the sound of a loud crash echoed out.

"S-Shit! I gotta tell the boss!" the other man cried out breaking out into a panicked run narrowly avoiding an attack made by Tremi which instead blew away a small part of the wall.

"Sabetha, we must flee immediately," Tremi said grabbing Sabetha's arm forcefully.

"No! Tremi, my only chance to be cured of this... this illness is on the other side of this mountain. I can't, no... I WON'T let them, or anything stop me!" Sabetha shouted pulling her arm free. Tremi stared at her with surprise watching Sabetha turn away to face the exit ahead. "If they want us, let them come. They'll soon learn we're not helpless children anymore," Sabetha said with a fiery glimmer of vengeance in her eyes.

A bit of sucking and fucking, a bit of touching moments and add in a dash of dark drama and twist and you have chapter seven! Chapter eight is going to be a VERY important part of the main story, though you won't realize it until far, far later on... make sure to read it properly. ;)
