#5 of Two Worlds (Finished)

"I'm telling you this is not what I want done with the boy!" King Alexander growled ...

"I'm telling you this is not what I want done with the boy!" King Alexander growled as he was passing by Kevin and Damien without noticing them. Damien must have pushed Kevin into the shadows away from the King as a sign of protection. And here Kevin thought something else was going to happen. The King was walking with another anthro but Kevin never had the chance to notice who it was, maybe Humphrey.

Trying not to take a breath Kevin kept his face facing to the side, away from Damien's. The Tiger kept his body right up against Kevin's and Kevin could really feel his heart pounding against his ribs. Moving back, Demetrius stood and looked down at Kevin with an awkward smile, "Sorry, we aren't supposed to be in this hallway. Well I am because the room I was talking about is the Kings room; I'm his guard shift tonight. I saw you come into this hallway and followed you to warn you. Hence the reason why I kept an eye on you..." He looked around to make sure it was safe and stepped out of the shadow, hand still wrapped around Kevin's wrist. "Sorry about this, but if the King saw you he would have thought you were a spy or something."

"No, no I understand." Kevin looked away again, the king was gone but the air around him and Damien was tense.

"Kevin." A strong voice shook the two as the both looked in the direction of the voice and immediately parted their hands. It was Demetrius. "What are you doing here?" He walked up, his eyes looking too tired for anything right now, but working all day does this to someone.

"Nothing--"

"--He was found in this hallway, my Lord. I was just about to escort him back to your room when you arrived." Damien cut Kevin off, back straight and bowing with his fist up to his chest. Kevin thought that it had to be a sign of salute or something.

"Oh, I see." He gave Damien a weird look but shrugged it off. He was too tired for this, "Alright, C'mon Kevin." He turned and walked off.

Kevin looked at Damien, who smiled, and ran off after the husky.

After the family dinner Kevin headed back to his room with bags under his eyes. Having to have two worlds wore Kevin out so much. He hasn't slept. And Demetrius probably felt the same way too. Was it possible for either of them to sleep? Kevin didn't want to think about it, all he wanted to do was get into is room and change out of these clothes so he could do his homework. Homework, as if he wanted to do that! He was too tired to focus on math homework, yet again he was tired to even get changed.

Opening his door, Kevin was ready to shoot himself on the spot.

Lying on his bed, Demetrius was laying on his side sound asleep. He looked peaceful and innocent, Weak and...Vulnerable. He moved around and kept moving his paws up and down, as if he was running away from something but all he could do was move his paws. His ears were kept perking in different directions, as if the sounds in reality were like the sounds in his dream. What was he dreaming about? Must have been a nightmare considering the occasional whines and whimpers Kevin heard as he moved across the room and into his closet.

This may have been the only time Kevin got to be by himself and think for a few minutes, hopefully ditch Demetrius and sneak out into the night's abyss. But shook his head, not only was Kevin tired from boring conversations with his parents, but Kevin couldn't risk his little brother--who was 13 and apparently, to Demetrius' 'Amazing' dog smell, sexually active with his girlfriend Cassidy--walking into his room and finding that the puppy he always wanted, isn't really a puppy whose on four legs and barks when he wants to go outside. Kevin snickered at the thought of Demetrius begging to go outside as a puppy.

And just that thought sent Kevin's brain down memory lane, though it wasn't his own past memories. It was a baby Husky. Crawling like how human babies would and trying to reach for a toy bone that was held above his head by another Husky man. His father? Demetrius whimpered and stretched his arm out farther, wanting the toy so badly.

"C'mon, Demetri, you can do it! You just have to stand up." The Husky man smiled and just kept laughing lightly at Demetrius' attempt at reaching the toy. It wasn't cruel, it was an attempt to get him to stand up, but when Demetrius readied himself with one leg and used his other to push off the ground to stand up, the older Husky would lift the toy higher, just inches away from his small hands and the baby Husky would collapse under his own weight and land on his behind. Obviously to Kevin Demetrius couldn't keep balance either.

"Almost there, Demetri, You can do it!"

Demetrius squinted his face and slammed his hands on the floor, "Da...da!"

The older Husky stopped laughing and his smile immediately changed to a blank expression, as if he was staring into space and not focusing. But he was focusing, and shock followed after, "What... did you say?" his voice was low and he almost looked as if he was going to tear up a bit.

"Dada!" He slammed his hands on the ground again and reached for the toy bone.

"Dada?" He echoed his son, "You talked..." He absorbed the moment, for this were going to be something he would always remember, and then his face lit up with excitement, "You called me Dada!" He stood up and swiftly brought his baby with him and hugged him. Demetrius saw the bone right next to him that was still in his father's hand, and opened his mouth to nibble on it, his father laughing and running away to the other room, "honey!"

Everything blurred and became a white flash that was too bright for anyone's naked eyes.

Kevin Came back to his senses and realised he was changed into his pyjamas. What the heck was that all about? He thought, looking out at the sleeping--now older--Demetrius who was still making whimpering sounds on Kevin's bed.

"Was that... A connection?"

Well this one is short, but it ends part one to my story. Part two is up next!
