When the parade was over, Jamie stormed towards the harbor to issue a death warrant on the dragon. "Just you wait, Nathan," he growled, "I'll get you when this is all over." Luckily, Nathan had grabbed a copy of the edict to annihilate LeiLani's village and a copy of his own death warrant with his picture on it for his cousin LeiLani to show to the king when the time was right.

That night, LeiLani had invited King David and Jamie over to her quarters for dinner the second time. All three of them ate in silence till it was King David who spoke up. "So, LeiLani, what was it that you wanted to ask me?" LeiLani was nervous for she knew that it could mean risking her own life. But then she remembered her cousin's words: "You never have to be afraid to do what's right." She then turned to her beloved. "David," she said looking serious at her husband, " My request to you is that you will spare my life as well as the lives of those in my village. In two weeks, my people and I will be condemned to the Blood Lagoon!" The wolf was shocked and so was Jamie. "What? Condemn my wife? Who would even dare?" declared David standing up. LeiLani felt brave as she said, "It's Jamie!" Jamie went wide-eyed at the accusation "Is this true?" snarled David to Jamie. "I don't know what she's talking about," protested Jamie, "She's crazy." "It is true," declared LeiLani. "Can you prove this charge?" asked David as the otter got out the papers. "I'm telling you she's making it up!" begged Jamie. That's when the king saw a dragon's face on the photo of a death warrant. "Wait a minute, that's Nathan," said David growing confused, "That's Nathan. I just gave him a parade." "Nathan is my cousin," explained LeiLani, "His people are my people." Jamie gulped as he started sweating. But King David was furious when he learned this. "You had me condemn the man who saved my life and my own queen? MY WIFE?!!!" All that came out of Jamie's muzzle were just whimpering squeaks. "Then for your punishment, Jamie, YOU are to be sent to the Blood Lagoon along with anyone else who dares scheme against my wife and her people!" Just then a black hooded bull came in with a sack to place over Jamie's head and then dragged him out the door as the brown wolf was screaming and pleading but to no avail. David turned to LeiLani and hugged her. "Are you alright, my love?" he asked softly caressing her cheek and resting his forehead against hers. "Yes, my king," she said, "Looks like you might need a new royal advisor. Might I make a suggestion on who?" The wolf smiled at her. They were thinking the same thing.

A few days later, Nathan had sent a messenger with a royal edict declaring that on the day of their destruction, all the villagers of LeiLani's village were allowed to defend themselves and take the riches of their attackers. Luckily, there was no need for an attack for they knew perfectly well what would happen if they did harm Queen LeiLani's people. "Let this day be a festival in honor of the bravery of our beloved queen," said Nathan and everyone else agreed.

9 years later

"Is that what really happened, Uncle Nathan?" asked a little 8-year-old otter/wolf hybrid pup as he sat on the dragon's knee. The pup had gray fur with a brown under belly, long black hair, wolf ears, webbed hands and feet and a big otter tail. "Yes, Juan. That's exactly what happened," said Nathan as he looked at the hybrid on his lap and two otter girls, Mei Ling, 5 years old and Emsu, 10 years old, listened to the story of how Queen LeiLani saved her village from destruction. Just then, the king walked in and Juan hopped off Nathan's lap and ran to the wolf. "Papa!" he shouted happily as David knelt down to pick up his son. The otter queen came in holding a baby brown otter/wolf girl pup in her arms. "Story time again?" chuckled LeiLani, "Now, Mei Ling, Emsu, your parents will be back from the market soon and then it'll be time for you girls to head home." The two little otters sighed. Then two adult otters came in. "Mama! Papa!" called the two girls as they say their parents. "Hello, Kiari," said LeiLani giving her oldest friend a hug, "And nice to see you again, Ruma." The otters bowed to the queen but they still treated her like family. "Come on, girls," said their father as he picked up Mei Ling and put her on his shoulders. The ice dragon smiled at the two families. "It would seem the sea goddess had seen fit to grant more than just one happy ending. But then again, this is a perfect beginning," he said with a smile as he looked to the otter queen who smiled at her cousin. David smiled as he held her close enough to whisper those three magic words: "I love you." Then the two royals sealed their moment of passion with a kiss of everlasting love which would last for all eternity.
