Meanwhile at the Lair of Dr. Callyco

"Ahhhh ha ha ha haaaaaaaaaaaa!" Dr. Callyco stood with his coat bellowing in the wind. It was a strange sight since he was still indoors and perched atop a couch. "Halloween night has come at last! On this night we are at the height of our power and-" He paused as he looked to his left noticing a snowman twice his size also sitting on the couch. "What? What... What is this?"

"It appears to be a snowman." Dr. Cutie Pup spoke up from where he was sitting in a recliner.

"I see that... But... Why is there a snowman here?" The kitten stared at the snowman as he slowly climbed up onto the back of the couch to get a better look. Then he saw what it was wearing atop its head. A red cap with a white ball of fluff at the end. "Nooooooo."

"It is kind of odd." Dr. Cutie Pup conceded. "Feels a bit early."

"A bit!?" Dr. Callyco flailed his arms and fell off the couch. "Cutie Pup! We're at DEFCON 5 now! Thanksgiving has fallen and the enemy has invaded our territory! Mobilize all troops at once for a counter attack!"

"We have troops!?" Dr. Cutie Pup stared at the kitten in disbelief.

"I mean we have guests right?" Was the kitten's response. "Thirteen of them if I recall. We might as well make them do something."

"I'm not sure our guests are going to agree to wage a war on Christmas." Dr. Cutie Pup muttered.

"Then they should have read the terms of service! Now then... Introduce our final guest so we can complete our army."

"Very well." Dr. Cutie Pup sighed. "Tonight's guest is Khloe Prower. And well, the two tailed fox spends most of his time dressed as a maid. Probably because he is a maid. Even if he's not very good at it. A bit clumsy. But he means well. Probably."

"That will have to do!" Dr. Callyco snapped. "Khloe will be our special forces in this war! The first one in and the last one out! And so I bring you our thirteenth and final tale of the year! The Tale of Holiday Spirit!"

Thirteenth Tale

The Tale of Holiday Spirit

Khloe's life had become oddly peaceful as of late. Despite the usual broken dishes, spills and accidents his jobs were going well. Some of clients he cleaned for had even given him bonuses this month. Life was going uncharacteristically well for the maid fox. The only thing that was off was he hadn't seen his moogle friend in a few weeks. That was odd. But what could you do about it?

Still, things were going so well that Khloe found himself having a little extra time on his hands. As a result he had decided to take on a new client who needed his cleaning services. It hadn't taken long to find someone. In fact, he hadn't even finished posting the ad in the classifieds before he got a call. His new client... He couldn't really pronounce their name. He tried a few times before the client finally told him just to shorten it to Sam. Other than issue with the name the new client seemed to love Khloe! He was especially delighted that Khloe already owned his own traditional French maid costume. Honestly, the entire conversation just left Khloe with a warm fuzzy feeling. It sounded as if the master of this house was really quite nice! And Khloe wouldn't let him down!

Still... When he got his first look at the house he had been hired to take care of he couldn't help but feel slightly alarmed. He swallowed nervously as his tails went limp and his ears folded down at the sight of it. It was a very rickety old house. There were holes in the front porch, spider webs everywhere, broken windows and a lawyer of dust that added an extra hundred square feet to the house.

This was going to be a lot of work. But Sam had seemed so nice, and Khloe's life had been so blessed yesterday. He wasn't about to give up at first sight! He rolled up his sleeves and walked into the house only to see the inside was even worse than the outside. It was beyond description.

But Khloe was determined.

First, he started with changing all the light bulbs throughout the entire house. For some reason every single one was prone to flicker and then go out as soon as he entered a room. This took a bit since there were quite a few rooms. But eventually he had replaced every bulb with a bright glowing that that kept the place well lit! Now even in its decrepit state it didn't seem quite so gloomy lit up! Next up was getting rid of all those cobwebs and dusting the house top to bottom! The place was so dirty it looked as if should be overrun with vermin! But Khloe saw that fixed as quickly as possible!

The next issue was all the windows. Many of them were broken, and repairing those was a bit beyond Khloe's ability. He was however able to close many of the windows that were still functional so that the wind no longer made a howling noise blowing through the house. He then swept up the glass from the broken windows and did his best to cover them with paper so it at least looked a little nicer.

Unfortunately... Know matter how earnest Khloe was about doing a good job he was still Khloe. When he opened one room to tidy it up he wound up knocking over some kind of crystal ball set up in the room shattering it to pieces. In the library when he tried to straighten the shelves he knocked some really old books off the shelves and into his mop bucket! The pages were soggy and impossible to make out now. He hoped maybe no one would notice since the words had seemed impossible to read even before that. Then there was the cauldron of bubbling green stuff in the kitchen. Khloe had knocked it over when attempting to drain and clean it. Now there was a giant crack along the bottom that drained any liquid placed in it. Still, it probably hadn't been used in awhile judging from how rotten its contents had smelled. Maybe no one would notice.

Still... Khloe couldn't help but feel bad at the damage he had done. It was an accident, and he was trying so hard. So he really wanted to do something to make up for it. He got an idea when he reached the cellar. The cellar was packed with all kinds of old looking objects that made it seem Master Sam had a serious hoarding issues. Many of these looked valuable too and Khloe was afraid just standing out they might get knocked over and broken. So Khloe set about organizing and cleaning the cellar. He did his best to box everything up from the old journal, to the weird puzzle box to even some kind of crystal skull. Khloe's curiosity was burning inside of him to know what some of these objects were. But Master Sam had just seemed so nice he couldn't betray his privacy. At least... Not until he found something in the very back of the cellar.

By the time he found it the cellar now looked like a normal storage warehouse instead of serial killer's basement. It was only because it had been cleaned up that Khloe found a hidden set of boxes back in the very corner. The layer of dust on them was twice as thick as everything else, a feat that was impressive in its own. Khloe took a quick peek inside the box, originally just intending to figure out where to store it. However his plans changed when he saw what it contained.

There were Christmas lights. There were stockings. There was a box with an old tree in it! There was tinsel and holly and even mistletoe! There was everything someone would need to decorate fill the house with Christmas cheer.

"Poor Master Sam." Khloe muttered. "This box lost back here, he must not have been able to celebrate Christmas properly in years." Khloe had reached some conclusions based on the shape of the house. He hadn't seen Sam yet... But he could only assume that the house was in such a state because he simply couldn't handle it by himself. Well, there were now less than two months till Christmas. Khloe had an idea of how he might surprise Master Sam when he eventually arrived home.

Such a large house took time to clean and too decorate. But Khloe was determined. Blinking red and green lights soon lined the exterior of the house. Tinsel lined the halls inside while stockings were hung above the fireplace. Khloe had placed the tree in the center living room of the entire house. Once it was decorated and lit up the entire room glowed with color.

The house had looker spooky when Khloe arrived. Now it the happiest little mansion. Khloe beamed with pride at his work.

Though... Master Sam had never shown up. It was almost midnight and Khloe had yet to even meet his employer. He wondered if he should lock up and leave, but he could find no keys. The house had been unlocked when he got here, should he just leave it that way? Maybe he should spend the night and see if Sam showed in the morning.

As he was wondering that the clock struck midnight. A grandfather clock across from the Christmas tree rang out three mighty chimes. Then the front door slammed open. Mist flowed into the house as Sam arrived.

A red robe covered almost his entire body. What passed for a head sticking out of it resembled an enormous pumpkin with glowing flames for eyes.

"Oh you must have been out late for a Halloween party!" Khloe greeted his new master as he entered the door. "That would explain things! Well... You'll be happy to know I've prepared your house for the next major holiday!"

"What have you done!?" Sam shouted in an angry voice. The mouth of the pumpkin opened wide revealing more fire in it. "You've ruined my entire house!"

"Ah!" Khloe's ears flattened. "I admit... I broke your crystal ball and ruined a few books but-"

"You did what!?" This time fire erupted around Sam's entire body. Khloe had to admit it was a really impressive fire.

"But I also tried to repair as much as possible!" Khloe assured him. "And I boxed up everything in the basement so that nothing else would get broken!"

"You... You don't understand what you've done!" Sam was in a fury. He looked around the room before snatching a snow globe off a shelf and shoving it at Khloe's face. "Can you be so dense? Have you not realized who I am!? What this place is!?"

"I have to admit I was beginning to be a little worried you might not be capable of taking care of yourself." Khloe responded meekly. "I'm not trying to judge, but this place was in really bad shape. Honestly, you might want to consider keeping me on full time. I could make sure it stays in this condition."

"You have the audacity to-" Sam's flames died as he seemed to be genuinely taken aback. "Fine. If you want to stay. Then stay forever surrounded by this madness you've created." Sam held up the snow globe and it began to glow bright green. A moment later a similar green aura appeared around Khloe's body. As it did Khloe's muzzle pushed out becoming even larger and thicker. His ears shrunk in size as two large antlers protruded from the top of his head.

"W-what's this!?" Khloe gave a shout as he reached up to touch the antlers.

"Since you were so excited to share a certain Holiday spirit I thought I'd let you share it for eternity." Sam responded as Khloe continued to change. Khloe's two tails slowly shrunk away until only one small tuft of a tail remained. His heels were suddenly crushed beneath his paws as they became harder, and turned black becoming hooves. His hands went through a similar transformation, though there was thankfully nothing to be destroyed there. Then with that change the fox had become a reindeer.

But that wasn't where it ended.

Khloe suddenly found himself floating in the air and shrinking in size. His skirt and stockings slid right off his body as he shrunk landing in the floor beneath him. His apron and top were the next to go. Finally even lace headband fell from Khloe's body leaving the deer in just his cream colored birthday suit.

The shrinking didn't stop and Khloe found himself moving through the air. He was being drawn towards the snow globe in Sam's hand. He let out a help as he realized he was going to crash into it... But then he flew right through the glass as if there was no resistance at all before crashing down into the fake snow.

The green aura faded indicating the changes were done. Khloe looked around. Everything in the snow globe felt the proper size to him. There was even a little cottage he could go inside and rest.

"That was... a thing." Khloe picked himself up and brushed his fur off. "Though I do feel more festive now." He looked to the little cottage and smiled. "Ah, seems like Sam has another project he wants me to work with! Still he could have let me have my uniform. Making me work in the buff like this, what a perv!" Still, Khloe was determined to get to work and do just as good a job cleaning this cottage as he had in the mansion.

Meanwhile Sam stared down at the snow globe and watched the insect of a deer go inside the cottage. He sighed. How could something like this had happened? It was too late to fix this house for tonight. The best he could do was place all the Christmas decorations as well as this snow globe in a corner of the cellar. Hopefully there they would never see the light of day again.
