An Early Christmas

Part 1

It was a cold night in the Arctic when Rider looked down the road at an oncoming silver Sentra that started to slow down near him and the rest of the reindeer. It was a respectable vehicle, considering where they were soliciting, which was in the dirty and dark town of Cowls, a poor and small area consisting of mostly tiny homemade shops and motels. Rider figured you would have to be mentally ill to actually consider living here, unless you had no other choice in doing so. This was almost the situation for Rider.

It's almost because besides going to Cowls rarely for groceries and often at night for work, the rest of the reindeer and himself along with Mr. Roder would reside in an old house only a mile away from the town. They all stuck together, since that's the way Mr. Roder wanted it, unless one of them was gone a couple of hours with a client.

The car stopped in front of Rider, the reindeer, and Mr. Roder. They were standing around a bar/motel called "The Broken Bottle," which was the normal area they stayed at, since no one seemed to ever bother them there. Even though they were sure Cowls didn't have a police force, prostitution was still illegal, and Mr. Roder didn't want any unnecessary trouble.

Only one fur came out of the car on the passenger side when it stopped. It was a reindeer Rider was familiar with, named Blitz.

As the car drove away and Blitz got closer to his usual group, Rider could see he was carrying a wad of cash in his hand, and had a couple of stains in his fur, especially around the neck and chest. He walked over to Mr. Roder, who was wearing a long, black, brand-named coat over his body. Even though he was a large macaroni penguin, Mr. Roder still did not enjoy the cold one bit and for some reason found it prudent to spend his money on better than average clothes to suit his needs.

Blitz handed Mr. Roder the money.

"Well done, Blitz. That must've been some work you did; you were gone for at least two hours, and this looks like double your usual amount. Clean yourself up though. I can't have my workers looking like that when Mr. Layton shows up." Mr. Roder said.

"Kay, Boss." Blitz said, and he walked over to their worn out van, opened the back door, took out a water bottle, and sprinkled some of the clear cold liquid over his body.

"Heh...hey Rider, you could learn a little somethin' from Blitz here. I know you've been at this for awhile, but since your eighteen now, you're probably gonna start getting more clients. You'll need to up your game." Another reindeer named Polar said, half-teasingly.

Rider was the farthest reindeer from the group, not ever wanting to associate with any of them unless he had to.

"Rider doesn't need to learn anything." Blitz said, joining the group. "From day one, Rider's just been itching to get outa here. He'll just do what he can until he breaks even with Boss."

"Hah, why do you even try, Rider?" A different reindeer named Victor asked. "Even if you eventually get enough money for Boss to let you leave, where do you think you'll go? You've got no home, no money, barely any smarts...you wouldn't last a week on your own!" Victor and a couple of the other reindeer laughed.

Rider had not responded to any of the comments made. He didn't even look at the other reindeer. He was used to this kind of talk by now, and learned that if you just ignore it, it would eventually go away...for the time being.

Then again, Rider was always the one that got picked on in the group. In fact, he was the only one that got picked on. Aside from the being the youngest and the only reindeer out of the bunch not content with being a whore the rest of his life, he carried at the end of his muzzle the reddest nose, that didn't ever seem to get better even in the warmth. It was its natural color, and as the rest of the reindeer's noses were an array of black, it was normal for him to get bugged about it. It certainly didn't help the abuse when his nose did the oddest thing, which was light up to a brighter and more vivid red every once in a while. Rider came to the conclusion long ago when he was a child that it would only light up when he was feeling happy, or any other distinction of the emotion. Every so often, though, Rider would forget about his nose's secret ability, since happiness had become an infrequent emotion for him. At least he did not have to worry about being picked on for his antlers being cut off. Mr. Roder required all the reindeer to have this done, as he figured they would get in the way of their work duties.

Things weren't all bad for Rider at the moment, though. Christmas was soon approaching, and even though he never got anything, he always loved the idea of it all; the present giving, the joyful moments, the love...and though he didn't feel much of these things either, he did get to enjoy the small lights and decorations some of the townspeople would put on their businesses and houses, which always boosted Rider's mood a bit.

Another reason Rider enjoyed the holiday was because the closer they got to the twenty-fifth of December, the more clients they seemed to have. Rider figured it was because this was a time for family and friends, and considering many furs in the world lacked these two forms of comfort, they would use sex as a special high to keep their spirits up. Nonetheless, it allowed Rider to bring in more and more cash until he would finally reach the goal set by Mr. Roder for him to be let go, which was $50,000. It was a lot, and even though the most Rider had ever made from a client was $300, he didn't give up his dream of eventually leaving Mr. Roder and the reindeers so he could finally be his own person, and not be controlled by another. Tonight was the twentieth until twelve o'clock rolled around, and they continually gained more clients, as a reindeer named Doppler had come back from a job only thirty minutes before Blitz showed up.

Only five minutes past with Rider and the reindeer waiting around before Mr. Roder shouted, "He's here! Get in your positions, boys!"

Suddenly, all of the reindeer that once seemed scrambled amongst each other were now ordered nicely in a straight line close to Mr. Roder.

No sooner than this happened a worn-down blue truck started pulling up the street, slowing as it got closer to Mr. Roder's group.

Rider did not have to get in line at the time the others did, for he had already been in his designated spot from the beginning. He hadn't heard much about their special guest yet, but seeing as how excited Mr. Roder was about him, he wanted to make sure he didn't do anything to negatively affect the clients visit.

Rider wasn't sure what could be so special about this Mr. Layton. The car that was now almost to them didn't seem at all unique; it was just like any other car their clients drove: Old, crappy, looking like it was about to break down...

The truck finally came by their area, the driver killing its engine as he opened the car door.

"Greetings, Mr. Layton! I'm thrilled that you chose to come tonight." Mr. Roder exclaimed, before the fur reached him.

Rider couldn't see their guest until he rounded the other side of the truck. When he was in his area of vision, Rider could see Mr. Layton was a pure white polar bear, and a nice round one at that.

Mr. Layton was wearing the regular attire Rider had been accustomed to seeing with the townspeople: A raggedy jacket, a scarf, worn shoes...Rider could still not understand what Mr. Roder was so excited about.

"I am a man of my word, Mr. Roder. When I announce that I will be somewhere, you can be certain that I will, in fact, show up." Mr. Layton said, as he walked up to Mr. Roder to shake his fin.

"Well, I just thought, seeing as how you're..." Mr. Roder started.

Mr. Layton caught on fast, and interrupted Mr. Roder.

"Oh, nonsense, my dear man! My money does not affect my decision on the type of men I choose. Besides, you have a fine selection of wonderful gents, if I do say so myself." Mr. Layton declared, as he looked down the row of reindeer.

Rider then realized why Mr. Roder was so interested in this client. He's rich, Rider thought, and Mr. Roder wants to give him the best, so he can pay the best.

Rider had been looking down at the snow white ground, but he could tell that the bear was inspecting them, using his peripherals. He could sense the bear's head turning and if he wasn't mistaken, he could feel the fur's eyes fix in his direction.

Rider did not enjoy the way Mr. Roder made the reindeer and him present themselves to clients. They were never allowed to wear more than one article of clothing on the job: a thin, black thong that accentuated the crotch area and showed off their tight asses. They did not get cold, as their fur was more than enough to keep them warm, but Rider still didn't appreciate being paraded around like some piece of meat. Though, then again, Rider thought, I might as well be just that, until I get freed from this place.

"Your too kind, Mr. Layton. Now, I don't want to waste any of the night that could be spent with you and one of my reindeer, so we can get right on to picking one out, if that's okay with you." Mr. Roder said, with a smile.

"Sounds like a right idea to me." Mr. Layton agreed.

They both then got directly in front of all the reindeer. None of the reindeer made many movements or talked, as Mr. Roder had instructed this.

"Now, most of my workers are in tip top shape, as you can see. I have them do chores around the house like collecting wood to keep them busy, and to build muscle. Copper is one of the most built, if you are looking for muscularity and force." Mr. Roder said, pointing towards an indeed built reindeer.

Mr. Layton looked at Copper.

"Hmm, he certainly isn't bad choice..." Mr. Layton said, his voice trailing, still inspecting everyone.

Rider continued to keep his head down, but he could feel Mr. Layton's eyes on him again. It was even more certain to Rider that he was looking at him directly, since the polar bear was closer now than before.

"Or," Mr. Roder said quickly, "If you're looking for a different tone in color, Victor is very unique reindeer; his fur is a faded yellow that is said to even grow hazel in...heat." Mr. Roder countered. He did not point directly at Victor, but just motioned his fin in his general direction, since it was obvious which one Victor was. Aside from him, all the reindeers were renditions of brown and tan, Rider being a light brown, with a white underbelly going down to his tail.

"Yes, I noticed him, and he is definitely a fine choice as well...hmm, it is so difficult to choose a beautiful diamond from many other beautiful diamonds." Mr. Layton said.

He once again did a roundabout look at the reindeer. Rider then looked up at Mr. Layton, as he could not feel his eyes on him. He looked like he was thinking, but there was something in the back of Rider's mind that told him Mr. Layton had already chosen his reindeer.

Then suddenly, while his face was turned away from him, Mr. Layton moved his eyes to gaze at Rider.

Rider did not expect this, and Mr. Layton and he looked at each other for a split second, until Rider was able to force his head down and away from Mr. Layton again. In the moment he looked at him, Rider noticed the vivid tone of Mr. Layton's dark blue eyes (Rider's favorite color). He could see something in them. He wasn't sure what it was, but he was certain Mr. Layton knew about it too. He also could feel in the second that he looked at Mr. Layton that Mr. Layton had looked into his dark brown eyes and saw something in them as well.

Mr. Layton kept his eyes on Rider, smiled, and announced, "I believe I have made my decision, Mr. Roder."

Mr. Roder turned to Mr. Layton.

"Oh, good! I'd expect you to have the best judgment. So, which one do you want?"

"I would like to take the one to the far left, please, the one with the red nose." Mr. Layton said, pointing his left paw to Rider.

Every reindeer turned its head to Rider as Rider lifted his head up, his eyes a little wide. He wasn't sure why, but when he was chosen by Mr. Layton, he felt like it had been an honor.

Some of the reindeer murmured amongst themselves, while Mr. Roder just stood there for a second in disbelief.

"You want...Rider?" Mr. Roder said, unsure of even himself.

"...If that's the name of the small red-nosed one, then yes, that is my choice." Mr. Layton said. He wasn't sure what the problem was.

"Yes, that's him, but...I mean, he's not nearly as experienced as any of the rest, and with someone of your stature, I figured you would want someone a little...bigger." Mr. Roder said quietly, trying not to offend.

"Well, I am appreciative of your want to please me, Mr. Roder, but no, I'd much rather like the lad down the left, Rider." Mr. Layton exclaimed, looking at Rider again.

Rider had been previously looking at Mr. Layton, so they were now once again looking directly at each other. This time, though, Rider did not look down. Mr. Layton smiled at him.

"I mean, Blitz would be perfect for you...he just got done with another job, but he's always fresh and ready to go...or Dodson, he is skilled at being romantic or rough, however you would like it...really any of them would be great, but..."

Mr. Layton did not let him finish.

"Please, Mr. Roder, do not deny me him."

For some reason, Rider felt strange when Mr. Layton said this. He didn't know what he was feeling, but it was warm, like the feeling to be wanted...

Mr. Roder looked around a bit, feeling akward, before he sighed and said, "Alright, sir. Of course you can have Rider...Rider, come here please."

Rider then walked over to Mr. Roder and Mr. Layton. He could feel the reindeers staring him down.

When he reached them, Mr. Layton began again.

"Now, what is the amount of payment for me to keep Rider for the night?"

Rider was expecting Mr. Roder to set the price. He normally allowed the other reindeer to get their chance at making as much cash as they could, but seeing as how Rider was the only one who wanted to escape his current life, Mr. Roder liked to make sure he never made too much a night. When he wasn't there to set the price, Mr. Roder let the other reindeer decide for him, which usually didn't amount to much for Rider.

"Actually, Mr. Layton, I think I'll let Rider set his own prices tonight." Mr. Roder said contently.

Every single reindeer turned their heads to Mr. Roder. Rider's head turned quicker than anyone's, while his eyes widened. His nose also began glowing bright red, which surprised even him.

"Boss, are you sure you wanna..." Blitz started.

"Yes, Blitz, I think Rider deserves this one. He's been such a good boy, and besides, it's Christmas. Rider, you get to be on your own tonight, okay? Think of it as...and early Christmas present." Mr. Roder said, with a smile.

Rider knew in his heart that this was probably just a ploy to get Mr. Roder more money from Mr. Layton. If Rider set his own prices and ended up getting a lot, then that would amount to Mr. Roder's money in the end. But, this also meant that Rider would be that much closer to being freed, and this was his chance to gain more money than ever, so he was thrilled. Rider quickly nodded to Mr. Roder, approving of the gift, then turned back around to the polar bear.

"Right then. So I guess we're all set now, and we can head off, my dear boy?" Mr. Layton said to Rider, smiling at him again.

Rider gave him the same quick nod he gave Mr. Roder. "Yeah. I'm ready."

"You be good now, Rider. Remember to have fun." Victor teased, as he chuckled along with the other reindeer.

Rider did not respond, but instead walked over to the truck Mr. Layton was already getting into. He opened the passenger door, sat down, buckled his seat belt, and waited for Mr. Layton to get situated, until he flicked the engine on and began driving along the road.

Rider wasn't sure what he was in store for as he was driven away from his group. Mr. Layton did seem like a strange client, but Rider knew this was just another client indeed, and he would treat him as such: only a tool, a key, to unlock him out of the dark place he unwillingly inhabited, so he could be set free and start living anew, as his own individual and respectable being.
