#4 of Hatchlings

A Story of a couple with four hatchlings

'What is he up to now...' Aidey wondered. Her mate said that he had to meet his friend, whom he hadn't seen in a few years, and wasn't home yet. It was already over 11. 'Hope he's not gotten into any trouble...' she thought. 'Maybe I should call him. It's late enough.' She thought. Their hatchlings were already asleep, as it was late in the night. She picked up her phone and called her mate. After a few rings, he picked up the phone. 'Where are you?' she asked. 'I'm at the local pub. Finally met my friend. He was a bit late. Sorry for not being home so late.' Her mate said. 'I'll be home in an hour.' 'Ok. I know you're excited, but don't be too late.' Aidey answered. 'Ok.' her mate answered. But just before she could end the call, he added 'Hey, is it okay if my friend sleeps in our house tonight? He doesn't live here and has to go to a motel if he can't.' Aidey thought for a moment. If she agreed, it would be letting a stranger she'd never seen before. And she had not only her, but also her hatchlings to worry about.

But... at the same time, they were Dehious' hatchlings as well. If he could trust him, maybe she could as well..? 'Hello?' Dehious asked over the phone. 'Are you there?' 'Yeah. Do you think it's safe enough..?' She asked. 'I mean, it's not that I don't trust you, but I don't know him and...' she trailed off. 'It's going to be all right.' Her mate said. 'I mean, he's almost my life-long friend! Nothing's going to happen, I promise.' 'Well, if you say so...' she said. 'Does that mean that I have a permission?' her mate asked. 'Yes. But if anything happens, I'm blaming it on you.' She said, laughing to break the tension. 'Got it loud and clear, ma'am.' Her mate said, laughing as well.

Her mate and his friend came home in less than an hour, as to her mate's words. They were slightly drunk, but not really. What was noticeable, though, was that Dehious had a plastic bag with him, which contained a six-pack. And there was another dragon behind him, an eastern one, who was green with white mane. Typical look of an easterner, if you asked her. 'So, you must be my mate's friend! Nice to meet you! Ceaser, was it?' Aidey said, enthusiastically. 'It is. It's a pleasure to meet you too, Aidey. I've heard a lot about you from my friend.' Ceaser said, bowing his head. Aidey had no idea why Ceaser was bowing to her, but bowed to him as well, to be polite. 'So, Dehious. That a six-pack in that bag?' she asked her mate, who nodded eagerly. 'Figured I and my friend could drink some more. Wanna join?' he asked. 'Of course, but only six? Won't that be a bit... you know, too little for us three to drink?' she said, doubtfully.

'Ah, that's where you're wrong, my love.' Dehious said, pulling out a glass bottle full of liquid from the bag. 'What is that?' Aidey asked, and took a look at the bottle, which had writings on that she couldn't read. 'It's not English. What is it?' she asked, turning and looking at the pair of males behind her. 'It's Korean alcohol.' Ceaser said. 'It's called Soju. And an advise to you, don't drink it like it's beer.' He added. 'Why?' 'Ask you mate here.' Ceaser said, pointing over to his friend. 'Well, you know beers usually have 5 percent of alcohol? This one bottle of Soju has at least 16 percent. So not only you get drunk real fast, but also you might get a really bad hangover.' Dehious explained. 'Hey you left out 'That's what I experienced'.' Ceaser added, poking and snickering at Dehious. 'Really? That in front of my mate?' Dehious said, flatly. On the other hand, Aidey was laughing her ass off. 'Oh, is that real?' she asked. 'You should tell me more!' Then she added, 'Look who's the more alcoholic here!' looking at Dehious. 'At least I wasn't drunk when I met...' Dehious started, but as soon as he started that sentence, Aidey looked at him with dagger eyes, and he stopped immediately. 'O..kay..? Anyways, are we going to drink or not?' Ceaser asked, looking at his friend and his friend's mate.

So after clearing the table, the three began to drink. 'So, Ceaser.' Aidey began. 'You have a mate yet?' she asked. 'No, not yet.' He answered. Dehious snickered beside him. 'He's what we call 'Forever Alone'.' He said, wrapping a wing around him. 'Shut up. It's just that I haven't found a dragoness I love yet.' Ceaser said, shrugging off the wing around his back. Dehious laughed loudly, earning a glare from his friend. 'You're just lucky, you know.' Ceaser added. 'Yeah, yeah. Whatever you say.' Dehious said, but then added, 'It's true, actually. I'm lucky that I met Aidey. Couldn't imagine what I would've been without her.' 'Oohhh. Thank you! I love you too!' Aidey said. She leaned over the table to her mate and nuzzled him. Ceaser looked at them, and said '... I envy you.' The couple burst out laughing.

As the trio kept talking to each other, the night got deeper. 'How did you two meet?' Aidey asked, suddenly curious. 'Well, we met when we were both 5th graders. Ceaser alone came to America, while his parents still stayed at Korea. It was my first time actually having someone who's not western as my classmate, so in curiosity and awe, I went to him. We found out that somehow we got along well, so we became friends. Probably not anything noteworthy about how we met, if that's what you were expecting.' Dehious said. 'So your parents are still in Korea?' Aidey asked Ceaser. 'Yup.' He answered. 'That's how I get this alcohol. I really don't want to pay 10 bucks per bottle when you can get it with 2 bucks or less in Korea. I also have both American resident ID and a Korean one, so I can fly across whenever I want to. And speaking of that alcohol, I think your mate might be already quite drunk..?' he suggested, looking at three bottles of empty Korean alcohol. Aidey looked at her mate across the table, and noticed that he indeed looked like he was getting drunk. 'You really can't drink a shit worth of alcohol, Dehious.' Ceaser said, poking at him jokingly.

'I... Am not drunk! Not yet! Nope, no!' Dehious said, somehow still holding onto his sanity. 'Plus, it's just that you're Korean and you're used to this shit! We Americans drink beer, not this!' he added. 'Nope. You're still just a bad drinker, who can't drink alcohol worth of shit.' Ceaser said, laughing. 'Shut up. I'll show you that I'm not shit. Pass me the bottle. Grab one yourself.' 'Oh? You want a competition? It's on!' Ceaser said, barely compressing his laughter. He passed a fresh bottle to his friend, and looked at Aidey. 'You want to participate?' he asked her. She shook her head. 'I think I'll be the judge.' She answered. 'If you say so.' Ceaser said, and pulled out another for himself. 'Three, Two, One, Go!' Aidey said enthusiastically, and Dehious began to drink the whole bottle straight down, while Ceaser drank slowly and lazily, picking up a snack now and then. Aidey gave him a questioning look, and Ceaser noticed it. 'You remember my advice? The one I told you not to drink it like beer? Well, you'll see the aftermath soon.' He said, snickering. 'Oh...' Aidey said, half of her wanting to laugh and the other half worried about her mate. 'He'll be ok, right?' she asked him. 'Except for a very funny sight for us now, and a bad headache for him tomorrow, maybe accompanied with some vomiting if he's going to the extreme, yes. Probably.' He said, continuing to drink slowly. Dehious was already showing signs of being drunk. His drinking got slower, and started to sway a bit. 'Wait for it...' Ceaser said, snickering. 'This is going to be quite a sight. And this even isn't all. Alcohol's going to take over soon.' he said, and about a minute after Dehious slammed down the empty bottle. 'Ha!' Dehious said, looking at his friend triumphantly. 'Look who drank first! I win!' he stated enthusiastically. 'Yeah, yeah. And look who's slurring.' Ceaser said, laughing out loud. 'I told you not to drink it like beer, didn't I? You'll feel the alcohol take over you soon enough.' He said, still laughing.

'Waa..? Shit.' Dehious said, finaly feeling the alcohol starting to take effect. 'I'm nooot slurring, am I, though?' he asked, getting a bit nervous. 'No, you are. You are slurring right now.' Ceaser said, then handed him a small bag of strange pills. 'Here. Eat this. It'll help with your headache tomorrow.' 'What is it?' 'It's Korean medicine. It worked on me.' Ceaser said. 'Are you going to eat it or not?' 'I'll take it.' Dehious said, took the pills, and walked, or stumbled over to the water fountain to get a glass of water. After he popped the pills into his mouth and swallowed it, he stumbled back to his seat and sat heavily on the chair. 'Wanna drink some more?' Ceaser asked deviously, and held up the bottle. Dehious looked nervously at his mate, who was shaking her head, as her mate looked quite drunk already to her, but gulped, imagining the amount of naggings he would get tomorrow, and nodded. Upon looking at her nodding mate, Aidey just face-palmed. Tomorrow was going to be a headache for her.

The two friends continued to drink, with Aidey sipping from the glass from time to time. They drank till it was almost 4 in the morning, and in the end both friends got drunk, though Dehious looked worse. 'Yooou rrreeembember when I met that dragoness iiiiin 11thgrsade?' Dehious slurred once, to which Ceaser looked alarmed and quickly shut his friend's mouth. 'Don't say that! Your mate's right in front of you!' He whispered to his friend, but Aidey already heard what her mate had said. She made a mental note to ask him later. Then Ceaser joked about when he put a bug in Dehious' desk, and Dehious punched his friend hard in the stomach, to which Ceaser howled pain while laughing his ass off. The two drunkards got louder, and Aidey had to quiet them down multiple times for the sake of her hatchlings not waking up. Her attempts to quiet them down didn't work the last time she tried, though, as Tasin and Green woke up and sleepily stumbled out of their room, mewing in question and distress. 'Great...' Aidey groaned, but somehow, her mate was happy to see his hatchlings. 'Ayyy! Tassssin! Greeeen! Your dadddddy's home!' he literally yelled, which caused Lee and Edward to wake up as well. That caused the other two to stumble out of their room, as the usual pile of their siblings were gone, which caused Aidey to groan even more, to which was the exact opposite case of her mate. 'Waaant ssssome miiiidniiiight snacks?' Dehious asked to his four sleepy hatchlings. 'Oh, and byyy theee way, sssAAAAy helllllo to Ccceaaser! Ccceeeaserrr, this is mmy hatchlings. Tasin, Green, Edward, and Lee!' he said enthusiastically. 'Ooh. They're so cute!' Ceaser exclaimed, and lowered his head to meet the hatchlings' eye level. Dehious reached for his hatchlings, but they backed away, as Dehious and Ceaser and even Aidey smelled of alcohol, which was a strange smell to them. Well, except for Tasin, that was. She walked over curiously to the table, and sniffed at the empty bottles. Of course, Aidey freaked out again, and immediately got rid of the bottles. 'Ok. I think that was enough drinking for the day.' She said, and started to clear the table. 'Noooooooo! OOOne mmmore? JJJust one more????' Dehious slurred, but Aidey wasn't having any of it. 'It's going to be a hell of a work to get the hatchlings back to sleep, Dehious. And you're already quite drunk. I really think you should stop now.' Then she turned to Ceaser. 'Can you get him to sleep? I'll take care of the hatchlings.' She asked. 'Ok.' he answered. 'Let's get up, man. Your mate asked me to get you to bed.' He said, turning and looking at his friend. 'Noooooooo...' Dehious wailed, to which Ceaser just ignored and emptied the glass in front of his friend and drank it himself. 'Get your shit together, man. You're drunk.' He said, and half-forcefully got his friend up. Which kind of surprised Aidey. Ceaser was smaller than Dehious, and she didn't expect him to be able to get his mate up that easily. Ceaser half dragged, half helped his friend get to bed, and returned to the table, and helped Aidey clean things up. 'Sorry for that.' He apologized. 'Guess both of us got carried away...' 'At least he's now asleep, so that's done. You can sleep in that room.' Aidey said, pointing to a room. 'Ok. Thanks.' He said, and bid goodbye to her and the hatchlings, and went into the room. Aidey put her hatchlings back into sleep, and went to her bed, to see her mate literally sprawled across the bed. 'Move...' Aidey growled, as she pushed her mate to his place in the bed. 'He's going to have a talk with me tomorrow...' she thought. Listening to the snores of her mate, and Aidey forced herself to sleep.
