Prologue
The train clattered over one of the joins between its rails, almost jolting the formerly sleeping Mikael Fair out of his seat. "Fuck." he grumbled, shifting around in his seat, trying to get into a comfortable position so he could get back to sleep. He almost got there, when the train hit another join in the railing, shaking him back awake. He got up out of his seat and went to relieve himself, and then sat down and started fishing around in his travel bag for some aspirin, to cure the massive hangover he had from the party the night before, the one his friends held for him as a going - away present. He dry - swallowed two, as the train rumbled over another join in the track, and emerged from the trees onto a bridge, which provided a majestic view of the mountainside below. The train passed over the track join that laid over the middle of the bridge, and Mikael frowned. I could have sworn that that sound was different than the other times we went over a joint. he thought. I wonder -
His train of thought was cut off by a titanic explosion that shook the ground for miles around. He heard the shriek of rending metal as the bridge buckled, dropping the train to the ground below. Mikael could only watch in horror as the ground drew closer, closer, closer...
And then there was black.
