Chapter 2: SARAH NIGHT

"It's been a couple of months since my dad disappeared," Sarah claimed, thinking to herself as she continued to narrate what all she remembers. "I remember the day like it was yesterday... I and my mom arrived at his house for a visit that we planned a month before, but when we got there, Dad was nowhere to be found. Only his dog Luke. His front door was unlocked, his car still in his driveway and his bedroom window wide open with the wind blowing the curtains like a dance...."

Suddenly, a knock was heard on Sarah's bedroom door.

"Sarah, honey." her mom called out.

"Yeah?" Sarah replied.

"I'm heading to the grocery store, do you want anything?" her mom asked.

"Yeah! Some gushers and a thing of orange juice, please?" she exclaimed.

"All right, I'll be back soon." her mom answered before heading out the front door.

Sarah looked out the window then over at her nightstand before leaning over, opening up her drawer and revealing her dad's journal. She hadn't read any of it since the day she found it on her father's bed...

With a hefty sigh, she grabbed the journal and leaned back against the headboard of her bed, which was covered by plushies and pillows, before opening up the journal. Luke was laying down beside her and she reached over and started petting him. "I'm glad Luke survived whatever happened and I'm really glad we were able to take him in." Sarah thought to herself, "It took a lot to convince my mom to let us keep him. 'Make it my 16th birthday present then!' I said to her... It was well worth it. Luke was my dad's best friend and mine as well whenever I stayed over."

"All right, Dad," Sarah said in a quiet tone, "What really happened since we last talked?"

Sarah knew the best place to find the answers was in the journal. There had to be something in there if anything. Even if her dad was a creative writer, still. She knew her dad, and his handwriting was hasty and filled with fear... Plus, the ways he described many of the events made it almost as if it was truly real.

"Journal Entry 1:"

"So, I decided to make a record of everything here since the first event. I'll go ahead and start off with Tuesday night."

"I was woken up by a knock at my front door in the middle of the night. I didn't see anyone when I looked through my peephole. I even opened the door to check, and nothing but a dark street with a few lights. I figured it was just a few kids playing ding-dong-ditch. So I decided to head back to bed. Once again, I was woken up, except this time, it was Luke's barking... I looked around and noticed this strange, dense mist flowing around. It was very odd and I could've sworn I was dreaming, but it felt too real to be just another dream, or even a nightmare, for that matter. I do recall one thing right before it charged at me and disappeared... I heard the words 'Where' and 'Truth' very faintly, almost like a weak whisper."

"Journal Entry 2:"

"It's been a week since that night and everything has been quiet so far. Until I was cleaning the house up some for Tasha and Sarah's planned visit, that is. As I was cleaning up the kitchen, I felt a blast of cold rush past me, then some rumbling from behind. I turned around and saw the cabinets shaking violently before plates, cups, and even silverware started flying at me. I was able to dodge just in time, thankfully, and take cover behind the kitchen island."

"The assault lasted a few minutes. I'd say two to three minutes, at most, before hearing a whooshing sound. I leaned out from behind the island and looked around me. Shattered glass and ceramics scattered around me... All I could think was "Awww, man! It was almost clean, too! What the actual fuck?!" and sorta laughed at the entire mess. I don't know. I guess it's the comical irony of being killed by your own dishes was humorous."

"Journal Entry 3:"

"After these paranormal-like events, I decided to head to the city hall to try and find any information. I came up with squat. On my way home, I decided to call the manager for the house community I lived in, Whispering Shades, and ask if I could meet with her. She said yes."

"Once I got back to the community, I pulled up to the main office. The manager pulled me into her office after making me wait for twelve or thirteen minutes... Typical Lila. Anyway, I asked her if there were any strange things that might have happened in the house I currently live in. She thought for a moment and pulled out a file before opening it... "Robert Walker" was his name. He was a 34-year-old male who moved to the US 10 years ago and lived in my house for five. She said he loved going out and taking pictures and was actually really good at it. She remembered him acting strange a few weeks before he disappeared, however. Kept claiming he worried someone was stalking him. Then one day, poof. Vanished without a trace. All the police found was that his front door was unlocked and his bedroom window was open. Police never found him or anything..."

"I didn't tell her why I wanted to know about anything like this; otherwise, she'd think I was nuts. I did ask her, however, if she could make me a copy of any of this so I could do some research. Lila, to my surprise, agreed. She said if I can figure out what happened to Robert, she'd be grateful. They were apparently good friends. She suggested I head to the local police department and speak to a Detective Shepherd. Apparently, he was the one to file a statement for Robert. And so, after getting the files, I left the office and got into my car to head over to the police station."

"Once there, I asked to speak to Detective Shepherd and an officer gladly walked me to his office. I spent two hours talking to this detective and, well, to no surprise, a dead end. After the talk, I left my number in case the detective could remember anything that he could tell me. And with that said and done, I headed home."

"Journal Entry 4:"

"Things have been quiet for the past day. I started to think I was just imagining everything until around 2 in the afternoon. Out of nowhere, I heard loud banging on the walls, as if someone was taking a hammer to the plaster. And then I heard two words again, 'Find' and 'Truth,' the same faint whisper-like tone. I was so confused... After looking around, the banging stopped. I remember turning around and all of a sudden seeing this white ghostly-like face and hearing a loud scream, then black. I guess I fell back in fear and hit my head cause I woke up to my phone ringing. I got up and grabbed my phone. Turns out, it was the detective. He said he was trying to get a hold of me for an entire day. He asked if he could come over because he had some new information on Robert Walker. I agreed and got things ready. I'll update with another entry in the morning."

Sarah turned the page and her eyes widened with a gasp to what she saw was written. It was scribbled, thick and bold with pure black ink.

"HELP HIM" "FIND TRUTH"

Below this cryptic message was a drawing of what looked to be a wall with a hole in it.

Sarah dropped the journal and covered her mouth... "What the hell??" she exclaimed in a fearful, muffled tone.

She then heard her name being called out in a faint, soft whisper. It was coming from her bedroom door. Sarah took a moment to gather what was happening before walking to her door as her name was still being called out in that same ghostly wail. She turned the doorknob and opened the door.

Sarah saw a tall white figure as all the electronics in her house were spazzing out. She looked up and saw the figure's face, her eyes opening even wider and filled with pure terror...

"A-A-Are y-you Ro... Robert W-Walker?" she managed to mutter, but only in a quiet, submissive-like tone.

The figure said nothing and instead reached out its hand towards her, placing its index finger on the top of her forehead which causes her to see a bright flash of white light.

The truth is about to be revealed. Will Sarah be able to help the Ghost of Robert Walker gain peace? Is Kevin Night still alive? Where the fuck was Luke when the ghost approached Sarah??!! Lazy ass dog...

To be continued.
