Life wasn't as boring with him with a gun and some books at his hands. He was slowly liking his life again. Yes, his past didn't leave him, but he slowly grew up to live with it. He still felt pain from time to time, but it was much better than when he had first discovered it. Today he was drinking. He got some grapes through the 'dark way', and made some wine. Though... it was more like strong liquor than wine, as he put too much yeast in making it. He found out that drinking made him ease the pain from the past. It wasn't a good way to solve it, yes, he knew it, but it was the best he could do for the moment.

Another glass. One more drink.

He felt a bit dizzy, but that didn't stop him. He had started drinking, and he was going to drink until he fell unconscious. That's how he drank. Drinking eased his pain, relaxed him, and helped him forget. He could forget about the world when he was drinking. Also, he liked the taste of alcohol as well. Taking another shot, he went for the snacks. Straight liquor wasn't that good for him. He found out that the hard way, when he drank too much and woke up the next day. Hence why he started to eat snacks with alcohol.

He could imagine their pain. The victims of his parents' pain. All the pranks they played, those could be forgiven. They meant no harm. But experimenting on others for no reason... Causing them and their families pain, irreversible consequences, and so on, those made Rhy feel pain and sorrow as well as anger. Pain and sorrow for himself and the victims. Anger at his parents for joining the damned group. If his parents haven't joined the group, he would be in a normal family right now. If his parents haven't joined the group, he wouldn't have had to suffer through his youth. But most importantly, if his parents haven't joined the group, there would be no victims he would have to feel sorry for.

Rhy drank another glass. Then another. He wanted just to be free. He didn't know what it felt like to not have weight on his shoulders. He didn't know what it felt like having a family. He didn't know what it felt like not having guilt. Maybe others didn't know as well, but still, he envied them. They say that one doesn't know what is important until one lost it. But that doesn't mean that one isn't feeling it unconsciously. And he wasn't even able to feel it unconsciously through his short life time.

Maybe, maybe he could escape it. He had a gun, after all. He could be without the weight on his shoulders, the guilt, and the anger. He could escape it. If he disappeared from this world, he wouldn't have to deal with all the problems. Devil's partners would be none of his business any more, and no one, no one could distress him anymore. He shakily, but surly, walked over to his M-249 standing in a corner. He had previously detached the ammo box, for safety. But it was right next to the gun. He attached the ammo box to the machine gun, and loaded it. The metallic sound, the sound of a bullet getting loaded into the chamber, was almost music to his ears. If he was going to shoot, it would've been music. But this time, it made him think again. 'Is this the right decision?' Rhy thought. 'Is this the right decision? Is this the right way to go?' He hesitated. Did he want to do this? Truly? Was his heart telling him to do this?

No.

He slowly lowered the gun, and detached the ammo box, and emptied the ammo in the chamber as well. This wasn't the right way. This wasn't the right way to handle things. This wouldn't end the pain for the victims of the group. It wouldn't solve the problem the 'Devil's Partners' are making. It was a selfish decision. Problems would end for him, but not for the rest of the world. He sat down, and took in a deep breath. In. Out. In. Out. In. Out.

A tear rolled down his scaly cheek. Why did it had to be him? Why him of all the people in the world? Why? Crying, he unconsciously went to sleep.

It was the next day when he opened his eyes. 'My head...' Rhy groaned. His head was hurting bad. Apparently he drank too much yesterday. He dragged himself over to the packs of bottled water, tore one out, and drank half of it in one gulp. 'Damn this...' he mumbled, and threw the rest of the water onto himself. Cigarettes. He needed those. It always worked wonders to him, hungover or not, when he got up and tried to concentrate. He grabbed the pack of them from next to his nest, and didn't even bother going out to the opening of the cave to smoke. He lit up one of the cigarettes and took a drag. Damn, did it do wonders to him. The hangover seemed to wear off a bit, not much, but at least a bit now that he could concentrate.

The cigarette got shorter and shorter, then it finally reached the filter. He dropped the cigarette and stepped on it, not wanting to burn off his nest. Still, he could concentrate, yes, but not like normal. He needed one of those drinks that helped with hangovers. 'I gotta go into town again... great.' He mumbled, and walked towards the entrance of the cave. He shifted his wing, and jumped, and started to fly towards the near town.

He was shoplifting a few drinks when the owner of the shop notice him. 'Hey!' he yelled. 'What are you doing?!' Rhy looked at him, the quickly ran towards the door. But the shop owner was faster than him. 'You ain't going anywhere, kid. Now give me back those, or I call the police!' He shouted at him, blocking the door. He looked at the owner, short but stubby looking man, then looked at the glass windows. The owner understood what he was about to do a second too slowly. Rhy ran over to the window, let the stone-hard scales come up his arm, broke the window and started to sprint away. The shop owner started to chase him. 'Stop!' he yelled, chasing Rhy. He wasn't slow by any means.

They were running, one being chased and one giving chase, when Rhy crashed into someone. 'Rhy?' the girl asked, who was under him. 'Wha..?' Rhy was about to say when the shop owner caught up and tackled him. 'Give me those stuff!' he yelled. He pushed up from the cement sidewalk and faced the owner. 'No.' he said. 'No?' the owner said, looking at him as if he was crazy. 'What do you mean no? You stole them! Now give them back!' he yelled, angry as ever. 'What do you mean you stole them?' the girl asked. 'You would never do that, would you, Rhy? It must be a misunderstanding.' Both Rhy and the shop owner turned over to the girl. Now Rhy recognized her. It was Joeri. From Tuxion. 'It's YOU?!' Rhy exclaimed. 'Oh, good.' The shop owner said. 'If this is someone you know, then she can pay instead of this crazy and insane boy.' 'What did you call me?' Rhy flared. 'Stop, stop!' Joeri yelled. 'What's going on? At least tell me what happened!'

So the shop owner told her what he'd done shortly. Joeri looked as if she couldn't believe what she heard, then thought for a moment. Then she pulled out her purse, and asked the shop owner. 'I'm terribly sorry for what my friend here had done. How much is the damage and what's the cost of those he's holding?' she asked, apologetically. 'At least 500 bucks, to fix the window and get other stuff organized again.' He said, sternly. She looked at her purse, then looked at the owner again. 'I don't have that kind of money right now, but I do have in my bank. Is it okay if I send you 500 bucks?' she asked him. 'Whatever, if you can pay me.' The shop owner answered, still angry. She pulled out her phone, tapped a few times, then handed it over to the owner and he wrote something in and handed her the phone back. She touched the screen a few times again, then the shop owner checked his phone and glared at Rhy, but turned back and walked away. 'You didn't have to do that. I could handle myself...' Rhy mumbled, looking at the ground. Joeri looked at him with disappointed eyes. 'Care to explain yourself?' she asked, disappointedly.

'You're not even supposed to get drunk at this age.' Joeri said, flatly, when Rhy finished explaining himself. 'Where do you even live? I'm sure whoever you're living with didn't agree with this.' She asked. 'I live alone.' Rhy answered, still looking at the ground. 'I'm really sorry, Joeri.' He said. 'I never knew you would get involved. I'm going to repay you, somehow.' 'What? You live alone?' She exclaimed. 'By yourself? All alone? You're not living on the streets, are you?' she asked, worriedly. 'No... not exactly.' Rhy said. 'You can live with me, if you want to.' She said, hopefully. 'I would love to have a friend with me.' 'I'll think about it... But I'm really sorry. I'm terribly sorry for what just happened.' Rhy apologized again. 'Let it go. I didn't know that you lived alone.' She said. 'Now, are you going with me or not? It'd definitely be better than living all alone, on the streets.' She said. 'Give me time? I'll think about it.' Rhy answered. 'Ok, but how will I know that I'll be able to meet you again?' Joeri questioned. 'Meet me here, in three days. I'll be here. You have my word.'
