Chapter 1: Childhood
"Shanaka, don't worry about me, I'll be fine" said a womans voice. Shanaka looked up but couldn't see anything with the blind fold over his eyes. He let out a loud growl, and was quickly hammered in the gut by an unknown force. His body fell limp as he coughed up a little bit of blood.
"NO! Kill me, Leave Shanaka out of this." said the woman's voice.
"Shut up bitch!" An unknown voice said as he back handed her. Shanaka began to struggle some as he heard the sound of a gun being cocked. "Mom, NO!" Shanaka hollered and was suddenly silent.
"MOM!" Shanaka hollered as he sat up quickly in his bed breathing heavily, sweat running down his forehead. A woman quickly ran into the room with a worried look on her face. "Shanaka, whats wrong?" She asked quickly.
Shanaka looked up at her and let off a sigh of relief. His mother was a very beautiful woman. She stood at about mid height, her hair was long and brown, reaching to her mid back. She had a dark complexion about her that made her seem tha she had always tanned. Her eyes were a deep shade of green, matching the dark green tank top that she was wearing along with her blue jeans.
Shanaka quickly hopped out of his bed and quickly moved over to her wrapping his arms around her. Shanaka was only a tender age of eight. He was very tall for his age, coming up to his mother's waist. He was very toned and a bit lighter complexed than his mother. His hair was black and long past his shoulders. He wore no shirt which showed off his toned torso. He prefered only to wear his black sweats. His eyes we a mixture of black and silver that seemed to swirl constantly like smoke.
"It's ok sweety, it was only a bad dream" She said softly as she ran her fingers through his hair. Shanaka looked up at her and smiled. "C'mon, how about we get you some breakfast?" she asked, as Shanaka released her and turned walking out of the room. Shanaka watched her as she left and took a look around his room. His bed lie in the corner of the room, a set of wooden bunk beds for him and his brother Eric. Eric and Shanaka were twins, identical twins at birth. Eric was a bit bigger build than Shanaka, more muscle than anything else. His hair was short and spiked up, with a dark brown color like their mother's. His skin complexion the same as Shanaka's.
Shanaka quickly ran out of the room and into the kitchen. The kitchen was much bigger than most, but was just as average as any. A center island lie in the center of the room.The floor was tiled and colored white. Shanaka's mother was standing in front of a stove on the right side of the room. His brother Eric wassitting at the table on the opposite side. Cabinets lie above everything on the right side, all made of wood. The sink and refrigerator were cornered to his mother.
"Finally decided to get up?" Eric asked as Shanaka looked over at him.
Shanaka shrugged. "Nothing wrong with sleeping in" He said with a smile.
"On a Saturday?" Eric asked with a laugh as their mother placed a plate in front of both of them. "Thank you mom" They both said in unison as she walked away. Their plates were covered with an egg, two pieces of bacon and a slice of toast.
"Eat up and you both can go outside and play" She said as she walked out of the room.
As the two began to eat, a loud sound like someone opening the door, came from the front room. "Jessica, where are the boys?" he asked quickly.
"They're in the kitchen eating, why whats going on Dart?" She asked in a stern voice.
Dart was Shanaka and Eric's father. He was rather tall, his hair short and spiked back like Eric's. His eyes were a dark green as well. He wore a long white jacket that looked like a scientist Jacket. "There's no time, I think I have made a break through in my experiments and I need the boys to help me out." He continued.
Jessica looked at her husband sternly. "Your not going to use them in one of your experiments are you?" she asked in a rough tone.
Dart looked at his wife just as stern. "If it means to end this stupid war, then yes I will do what ever it takes." He then stepped into the kitchen. "Eric, Shanaka, hurry up and finish, you two will be spending the rest of the day with me." he said quickly. The boys only nodded as they stood up and set their plates next to the sink, stepping into the living room and outside.
Dart watched as the two walked outside, he then began to follow but was pulled back by Jessica. "If anything happens to them, I swear by Dragonia himself that you will not see the light of day again." She said squeezing his arm tightly.
Dart let off a slight smile, he knew that when he married her, he had chosen right. Jessica was strong, too strong in Dart's mind, but thats what he loved about her. She had a very loving heart for her family and that she would allow no harm to come to them "Do not worry, I promise that no harm will come to them." He said with more of a smile. He slowly kissed her gently as she released her grip from him, he then turned and stepped outside.
Shanaka and Eric both stretched as they stepped outside. The day was beautiful and sunny. Birds sang and a light breeze blew from the west. Shanaka's family lived on the outskirts of a city called Dragonia, which was the heart of the planet and was also foretold where Dragonia himself set life to the planet. Dragonia was the god over both the Dragons and the Dragonians, both races worshipped him and both sides have their own beliefs on who is the domiant species.
"Hey Shanaka, Hey Eric!" A female voice hollard.
The two looked over and noticed a little girl running towards them. She had long brown hair to her mid back, and dark green eyes. She was a little smaller than Shanaka and Eric but was aso the same age. She was wearing a dark blue dress and dark blue shoes. Julie was Shanaka and Eric's playmate and also their only neighbor.
"Hello Julie, just get back from the prayer session?" they both asked.
Julie nodded. "Mhmm...and why weren't you two there?" she asked crossing her arms.
The boys looked at each other and shrugged. "Mom didn't wake us up in time I guess" Eric said
Shanaka laughed some and shook his head. "So what are you planning on doing today Julie?" he asked looking to her.
Julie giggled. "Well I was hoping to come over and play with you today." She said as she looked up and saw Dart standing over the boys, and waved politely.
Dart waved back smiling some. "They won't be able to play with you right now sweety, but here soon mabey, they're gonna come and help me out today" he said as he nudged them along, the boys could only wave as he did so. Julie waved back with a saddened look upon her face as she turned and walked towards her home and stepped inside, disappearing from sight.
