Chapter Three: A story of Love

"Brandon!" Saira made her way though their cave looking for her human husband with worry, he somehow made his way out of her gasp without waking her at all; to which she did not know why. It's been about three weeks since her mother and father had meant with the human boy, and she had tried many times to convince Brandon to tell her what Vloor had told him. But no matter how hard he tried he would not budge, always training with his sword outside the cave. That when something in her head clicked when she realised where he was. Moving her paws in a fast jog, he found him outside without a shirt; training. Over the weeks Brandon had gain new muscles around his arms and legs, not enough that would match a full grown man, but still enough to show that he had gone though many hours of shadow fighting. Saira was about to say something, but smiled as she laid her head down on her paws, as she watched her male train. Sweat covered his body and the sun wasn't even over the trees, his breathing was short and hard as he brought the blade over his head and side slash his invisible foe; eyes narrowed. With one last slash he brought the blade in its hilt sighing. "Brandon?" asked Saira standing up moving to him "Are you okay?"

Brandon turned around and gave his same small smile which she grown to love,

"I'm fine," he answered wiping his brow with the back of his hands, he male scent caught hold into Saira nostrils and gave a slight sigh smiling at him. Brandon smiled back as he made his way to his shirt, "Guess I need a bath now huh?" Saira laughed as she nodded,

"Yeah I would guess so!" Brandon nodded as he made his way back inside the cave, he could feel Saira glaze on him as he made his way in and only shook his head laughing to himself. He made it to the stream faster then he thought he would and striped off the remaining clothing that held closely to his body from the sweat. Not wasting time, he almost ran into the stream and lay until his head was only showing. Closing his eyes he brought his hands under the water and began to wash himself with the warm water that felt so warm to his human skin. As he brought his arm out of the water, he marvelled at his newly muscles he had received from his training. As he twisted his arms he began to think about Vloor had told him about how many other dragons might come for Saira. His hand clutched into fists as he imagined what he would do to anyone, dragon or human; that would dear hurt the love of his life. He liked that name he just thought of, "Love of his life," he thought that this was powerful and he could do almost anything if he just thought of Saira. Climbing out of the stream he dried himself off with a towel he "borrowed" from a little kid at a beach and slipped on a new set of clothing which held a black tee-shirt, black pants, and black shoes.

He made his way though the tunnels of the caves until he say Saira in the same crystal room he stood in just before meeting Snow and Vloor. Brandon mind wounded back to the moment he touched the crystal, how his arm become a blue claw like arm with its black nail sticking out of his elbow. He shook his head as he went over to Saira and stood next to her, seeing she held in her claw a crystal about the size of Brandon fist.

"Saira?" the green dragon shot her head to him in surprised dropping the stone, like lighting speed, Brandon caught it before it could hit the ground; and smash. "Whoa!" answered Brandon placing the stone on the ground before his hand could change again, "Sorry, I didn't mean to startle you love." Saira stared down at his hand, as if looking for something then shook her head.

"No you didn't startle me, just; surprised me." Brandon laughed as he shook his head this time,

"I think that's the same thing Saira, I didn't know a big dragoness like you could be frightened by such a small human like me!" Saira stuck out her dragon tongue at him as he laughed, then she did something he didn't see coming; she gave him a long lick. Brandon blushed she he returned the kiss on her nose while hugging her neck. She leaned over to his ear and whispered,

"You are not small in all places Brandon." Brandon blushed even harder when he heard Saira talk dirty like that to him; she saw him blush like a red spot light and couldn't help but laugh.

"Well if you're done talking dirty," he said looking at her then the crystal, "Mind telling me what you're doing in here?" Saira turned her head to the larger crystals as she thought for a moment, Brandon was a little worried about why she was here; for she always told him what she was doing just like that.

"Brandon," she said almost in a small tone, "You know that humans can't make dragons lay eggs right?" Brandon nodded; he remembered what Vloor had told him about that. True the human was only sixteen close to seventeen and was too young for humans to start a family, but if he was going to live a short life with his dragoness, he wanted a family to help rise soon. "These crystals are known to us dragons as the Dragon Tear. Legends tell of a human knight who was sent by his king to kill and capture any eggs he or she had. The knight of course agreed and followed his orders given to him. For three long years he followed that order until he found the dragon, only to find that it was a dragoness.

"The dragoness was more beautiful then any being the knight had ever seen, no human woman could match the yellow dragoness that stood before him. The dragoness asked him why he had come to her cave and what he wished of her, the knight replied that he was order to kill and capture any and all of her eggs. The dragoness held her head down when she heard what the knight had told her. 'I have no eggs oh knight,' she said in a small voice, 'no male had taken me for I am ugly to them.' The knight found this shocking; dropping his sword and shield he made his way closer to the yellow dragoness and held her jaw. 'To me,' he answered moving closer, 'you are more beautiful then the god wives themselves.' That's when it happened, he leaned more forward and kissed the great dragoness as she returned the kiss as well." Saira stopped her story as she turned her head down to Brandon, "Do you see now?" she asked, "after the human and dragoness made love a bound like no other was made, but there was only one thing; they could not have children."

"And where does the Dragon Tear come from this?" Asked Brandon; shaking his head as he returned his thought to his own time.

"That is what I'm about to tell next." She took a deep breath as if telling this story had taking her energy from her.

"Many years had past as the two stayed together, any rumour that was said about the dragoness, the knight would make sure that they would not get far, but on one faithful day; the past returned. The knight king had worn his rope thin of waiting, thinking the knight failed he sent ten of his greatest sword man to find and kill the dragon. News of this reached the two lovers; the knight took his blade from its resting place and began once again to train, to protect his love." Brandon turned his head down to his blade with his still held in his hand, this knight reminded him so much of him, he never did fight before meeting Saira, but he would do just about anything to keep her safe from anything. "The knight made their way closer to their cave until the knight stood in front of them, only his sword and shield in hand. The sword man demanded why he had not return to the king, and where the dragon was, the knight replied that she was inside and they would not lay a finger on his mate.

"He single handily killed nine of the ten sword man, but the last one was still full of energy while he himself was almost done with his, the dragoness saw what was happening as the sword man slashed at the knight arm causing him to fall to the ground; crying out. Sword in his hand, he brought it over his head to bring the killing blow; but the dragoness was faster. Running to his aid she stepped in front of the blade as the sword priced toward her heart; her death was quick and painless. Now filled with rage he had never felt in his life, the knight brought his blade toward the man's own heart. Bending over his mate, he began to weep over her body, and as he did his body began to change. His yellow tan skin ripped off to relive a gold scale body, his back grew until a set of gold wings stretched outward. A tail grew from his span as his eyes lit a new yellow tint. His hands and legs become paws as his face grew into a muzzle; bringing his new head to the air he roared a loud painful tear fill cry. And as his blue tears fell onto her body, something happened. Her body begin to turn to crystal and break into smaller pieces. The knight heard his mate voice, telling him that she will always be with him, and wishes to give a gift to any human that wishes to become a dragon, for any that touch her crystal body; will be like her."

Brandonsat beside Saira looking at the crystal, now knowing the full story behind the crystal. He could imagine the knight rage and sorrow when the dragoness was killed, he could never think about what he would do if Saira was ever killed. He might have gone crazy, or maybe he would kill himself from the grief. After a long time of ether of them speaking, Brandon spoke up.

"You still haven't told me," he said looking at her, "Why you were here." Saira smiled as she looked at him,

"You don't have to Brandon," she answered, "But I want to raise a family with you, and the only way for that to happen is for you to become..."

"A dragon." Finished Brandon looking back at his hand, he had seen it first hand at what would happen if he touched it. But what he didn't understand is why it didn't change this time.

"But this is only if you want to," the green eye human looked up at the dragoness to see her smiling,

"Let's wait," he answered, "When I'm older or fell that I'm ready, and then we'll do it." Saira smiled as she nuzzled him and gave him a quick kiss.

"Then there only one thing left to do." She wrapped her tail around Brandon waist as he laughed; pulling him deeper into the cave.
