Hatchlings' Spinoff. Dehious' Death.

'Are you sure you're alright?' Aidey asked. Dehious had been coughing badly these last few days. 'Don't worry 'bout it.' Dehious said, waving her off. 'Probably just a bad cold. It'll go away in a few days.' 'Still, don't you think you have to see a doctor? I think it's pretty bad...' Aidey trailed off, genially concerned. 'I'm strong, remember? I can fight it away in a few...' Another coughing fit interrupted him. The coughing fit didn't seem to end. 'I really think you should see a doctor.' Aidey said, extremely concerned. 'No, no. It's alright.' Dehious said, his fit finally dying down. 'I need some water.' He said, and tried to stand up. But Aidey pushed him back down. 'You stay here. I'm getting some for you.' She said.

**Into the fire on my own, hey

I know I won't see your face again, hey

Are you sitting there alone, hey-ey

Are you thinking like me, all the laughing times

Of all the sad and loving times?

Everything that's left of us **** Is fading away**

'Crap.' Dehious said, his coughing fit finally gone for the moment. He looked at his claws, and saw dark blood on them. 'Crap.' He mumbled. 'Are you ok?' his mate said, sleepily, but concerned. 'Yeah. I'm alright.' He said, quietly. 'Just another coughing fit.' 'Try to get back to sleep...' Aidey said, curling up again. 'Yeah. Sorry.' Dehious said, curling up around his mate. While Aidey thought the 'sorry' was for waking her up, little did she know that the word didn't mean that.

**Promise me to think of us, as a time so wonderful

Promise me to think of us, still bright, still colourful **** Promise me to look back at us, as a time in your life, you enjoyed**

'Are you sure?' Dehious asked, shocked. 'Yes. We could investigate further, but at this stage... It's pretty much confirmed.'

**Surrounded by flames everywhere

What I used to be, I'm not even there

The absence of you is killing me, hey-ey

Are you thinking like me, of the laughing times

Of all the sad and loving times?

Everything that's left of us **** Is fading away**

'What?!' Aidey screamed. 'You fucking idiot! You asshole! You...' She cried into his shoulder. She was too shocked to even swear do anything. 'What are we going to do? Is there anything we could do? Anything?' Aidey cried. He didn't say anything. She just cried in his wings. 'I'm sorry.' He said, quietly. 'I'm sorry.'

**Promise me to think of us, as a time so wonderful

Promise me to think of us, still bright, still colourful

Promise me to look back at us, as a time in your life, you enjoyed**

Time passed, and Aidey watched as Dehious breathed in and out shallowly. Tasin, Lee, Green, Edward and their hatchlings had already visited them a few weeks ago. When they first found out about the disease, they were shocked. They, but especially Aidey, wanted to deny it. She didn't want him to leave her. Not in a million years.

She should've known when Dehious started to cough badly. She should've known when his appetite started to decrease. She should've known when he started to get weak and thin. But the couple both thought it was just a bad cold. If she could turn back time, she would give anything, do anything just to do that.

**Promise me, promise me

I will be fine without you

Promise me, promise me

Once more in my life to see you

Promise me, promise me

I will be fine without you

Promise me, promise me

Once more in my life to see you**

1! 2! 3!

The doctors tried to get his heart beating again. She could see her mate still unconscious as the doctors used the AED on him. His body bounced up each time as his heart was electrocuted. Each minute, each second that passed was torture for her, as hope slowly slipped away from her grip. The doctors looked sadly at Dehious, then at the nurses. The nurses nodded silently, and wrote something on the medical chart. Then they pulled up the covers and covered his face. 'I'm sorry.' The doctor said, turning to Aidey. 'He's gone.'

**Can you promise me?

To see you

Can you promise me?**

Aidey watched silently as tears dropped down from her chin. Others were watching silently as they lowered the coffin into the ground. 'Goodbye.' She whispered, and turned away and flew. 'Goodbye.'

**Promise me to think of us, as a time so wonderful, so wonderful

Promise me to think of us, still bright, still colorful, still colorful

Promise me to look back at us, as a time in your life, you enjoyed**

**Promise me to think of us, as a time so wonderful (so wonderful)

Promise me to think of us, still bright, still colorful (still colorful)

Promise me to look back at us, as a time in your life, you enjoyed**

Thank you for reading. This was inspired by the son 'Promise Me' by 'Dead By April'. The song's good. Wonderful, actually. I could've done a better job, but I guess this is my limit. Thanks for reading again!
