#5 of PAST LIFE

Jeremiah cried once more on the bed. Reality has struck him even worse than he had imagined. He knew the hard way that he could never be with the man he loved.

'How could he be so heartless!?' he sobbed. 'How could he not notice that I'm in love with him!? It's not fair!'

His ears perked up as he heard a soft knock on his door.

"Jer, are you okay?" Dean's voice rang from the other side.

Jeremiah didn't respond to him. He continues to cry on his pillow, holding it tightly.

"Jer, I'm coming in, okay?"

The door slowly opens, bringing a peaceful light to the dark room. The black wolf could hear the sobs of his best friend and followed the sound to his bed. He sat down as close as he can and rubbed the vulpine's back.

"What's wrong?" he asked.

"I-I told you I'm fine," he sobbed.

"If you're fine, then why are you crying?"

Jeremiah looked away from the wolf and continued to cry. Dean sighed and picked up the fox. He pulled the unwilling vulpine and held him close. His arms are wrapped around his chest, pulling his back close to his chest. Jeremiah gasped slightly at the sudden affection and turned his head around to see the black wolf.

"W-why?" he stared with his teary blue eyes.

"Like you said, I'm your best friend," Dean smiled. "I'll always be there for you."

Jeremiah felt touched. His eyes began to water once more as he cried once more. The wolf just smiled and cuddled to the fox. After 15 minutes, Jeremiah no longer has any tears to shed. He smiled happily in the arms of the one he loved.

"Feeling better?" Dean asked as he rested his muzzle on the fox's head.

"A lot," Jeremiah replied. "Thanks."

"No prob," Dean said as he let go of the vulpine. "Now, do you want to tell me what made you so upset?"

"Right now?" Jeremiah looked down.

"If you don't want to, that's fine."

"W-well... n-not right now... But I'll tell you when my mood's okay."

"That's fine," Dean smiled. He raised the vulpine's muzzle so that their eyes met. His gold eyes stared gently at the fox's blue ones. Dean quickly planted a soft kiss on his right cheek, causing him to gasp silently. Jer's body tensed as his eyes were shot open.

"D-Dean?" he blushed.

"You don't like it?" Dean frowned.

"N-no!! No!! I liked it!! I'm just surprised, that's all. But why did you do that?"

"Well, John said that whenever you felt down he planted a kiss on your cheek to make you feel better."

"That liar," Jer chuckled.

"So, it's a lie?" Dean asked. "You're not feeling any better?"

"Well, that kiss was kinda unexpected, so I don't enjoy it as much," Jeremiah blushed. "If I expect one, I'd probably feel a lot better."

"Well then, expect this," Dean smiled. He slowly kissed the fox on the lips. Jeremiah's body stiffen before his body melt in the arms of the black wolf. Inside his mind, fireworks exploded in the background. The two soon parted with a grin on the wolf's face.

"How's that?"

"That was..." Jeremiah panted. "wonderful..."

"Good. Cause there's more to come."

Jeremiah's eyes went wide at the last statement.

"D-Dean!? W-w-what are you saying!?"

"I'm saying that you need to relax even more," he answered dreamily.

"W-what about Miranda?"

"Who? Her? It's just making my best friend relax. I'm sure she'll be okay with it."

"W-what about you? I mean, you're straight."

"I'm only doing this because I care about you. You're my best friend. I'll always try to help you."

"Oh... Dean..." Jeremiah smiled happily. "I've always dreamt of thi..." His smile drooped down into a frown and he sighed deeply. "I'm dreaming again, aren't I?"

"Who cares if it's a dream?" the wolf said.

"I do!!" he yelled back. His tears started to form once more. "Y-you don't know how much I've always wanted this to happen. But I know that this is never gonna happen. You're not even real. You're just a pigment of my imagination that I wished to happen. When I open my eyes, I know that we'll only stay as best friends and nothing more. I could never got the chance to say it."

"Say what?"

The vulpine took a deep breath and tried his best to say the words clearly.

"I love you, Dean. I've always loved you ever since we've met. I know you can't love me back because you're..." Jeremiah began to cry once more. "You're just a pigment of my mind."

The lupine sighed and pulled the fox into a close hug.

"There, there..." he rubbed his back. "It'll be okay."

Jeremiah continued to cry on the wolf's chest, only to feel the bitter taste of reality.

"P-please," he said, holding his tears once more. "Even though you're just a dream, stay with me until I wake up..."

"I will Jer..." the black wolf whispered. "I will..."

Jeremiah continued to sob as his vision began to darken, in the arms of the dream wolf he wished to be with.

Jeremiah slowly opened his eyes in the dark room. He sighed and wiped his eyes with the back of his left paw. The dried up tears matted on his orange fur. He sighed and sat up, looking down on the white sheet that covered him.

'I knew it was a dream... None of that ever happened... Dean is not here to comfort me...'

His eyes wanted to form tears once more, but none can come out. He pulled his legs closer to him and held it close to his chest. He pinned his ears back as he placed his forehead on his knees. His orange tail wrapped around his body as he began to sob once more.

"Hey..."

Jeremiah jumped and looked to his left, where the voice came from. A black wolf sat on the side of the bed, his head turned towards him. His golden eyes gave a worried look to the vulpine.

"Why are you crying again? I thought that you'd feel better after doing that."

"D-Dean!?" Jeremiah stared. "W-what are you doing here?"

"You fell asleep after you cried in my arms," he smiled as he rubbed the wet fur under Jer's eyes. "I sat here after tucking you in, making sure you're okay."

Jeremiah stared back down on the sheet, trying to figure out some pieces of the puzzle.

"So... The kiss was real?" Jer mumbled to himself.

"On the cheek? Yeah. It was."

Jeremiah's head shot up and stared at the wolf.

"What?"

"I kissed you on the cheek," Dean smiled as he patted a place on Jer's cheek. "Right here. I did it after you fell asleep though."

The vulpine continue to stare in disbelief.

"John said that it'll make you feel better."

"It did," he smiled. Tears started to form once more, not of sadness, but joy.

"I'm glad you're feeling oka...," Dean said, but was interrupted by the fox who was clinging on his neck, holding him tightly.

"Thank you..." Jeremiah smiled.

Dean just smiled back and rubbed the vulpine's back.

"You're welcome..."

The two stayed in the position for a while, enjoying the moment between the two.

"Okay," Dean said. "You can let go now. Can't breathe here."

"Oh, sorry," Jeremiah blushed as he let go of him.

"You still owe me that shampoo."

"You're still thinking about that stupid thing?"

"Well, I like the smell," Dean blushed.

"That's unexpected," Jeremiah chuckled. "You, Dean Vent Charmile, like tropical fruits?"

"I can't help it, okay?"

Jeremiah ignored the last sentence as he continues to laugh at the black wolf. Dean just continue to blush, his dark fur covering the redness on his cheeks quite well.

"Now that you're in a better mood, do you mind telling me what bugged you a while ago?"

Jeremiah looked at him and started to blush himself.

"W-well, it's sorta embarrassing to say," he looked down.

"What is it? Tell me..." Dean pestered.

Jeremiah took a deep breath before confessing his inner depths.

'Here goes...'

"I have a secret crush on someone that I really like and sadly I know that I could never with that person at all but until then I vowed that I don't wanna date anyone else yet," he said it in one sentence. He blushed deeply as the black lupine grinned.

"Really!?" Dean smiled. "Who?"

"I-I rather not say..."

"Is it someone I know?"

"M-maybe..."

"So the reason you didn't want to go on the double date was so you can be available to the girl, right?"

"Yeah," Jer said as his ears drooped down. "However, I know my crush wouldn't go out with me."

"Why's that?"

"That person is taken."

"Oh... Sorry to hear that..."

"It's not your fault, really. It's just something that I couldn't prevent. Do you know how hard it is to love someone who doesn't love you back and it's you that was hurt in the end?"

"I know that feeling..."

"You do?" Jer's ears perked up as he stared at the black wolf.

"I do... Remember Jennifer?"

"How could I forget..." Jer looked away. Slowly, the memory of the fennec fox began to rebuild in their minds.
