CHAPTER ONE.

"ALL PERSONEL, EVACUATE IMMEDIATELY! I REPEAT, ALL PERSONEL EVACUATE IMMEDIATLEY! SHIP CORE AND ENGINES POWER GRID CRITICAL! EXPLOSION IMMINENT! "

The captain's voice rang out through the PA system.

On board the USS Excalibore, 6 dozen members of the crew scrambled towards the shuttle bay. Those that couldn't make it in time, hurried towards the EEV's, personal one man capsules.

Cadet Chakat Starblaze, only 12 years old, but way ahead in Star Fleet academy, ran down the corridor, heading towards the EEV control room. Shi ran through the doors, and was dismayed in seeing the second last capsule launch from its resting berth.

There was only one EEV left, and it was being prepped for launch by Cadet Jane Theresa Kirk, she was human and older than hirself by 6 years, but she was also a hothead and stubborn as they come.

Upon seeing Starblaze, she barked, "Get lost, this is my capsule." And proceeded to continue the EEV's departure.

"Oh come on, that's the last one, and I am sure not going to make it in time to reach the shuttles, and you know that." Starblaze pleaded, "Besides, you know that it can hold 2 occupants."

"Yeah, 2 HUMAN occupants, not a human and felinetaur, there won't be enough room if we both take it." Jane retorted.

"Do you know how to pilot the EEV?" Starblaze asked, stepping down on to the launch platform.

Jane looked at the chakat for moment, impatience on her face, then she gave a sigh of resign. "No" she said, then looked at the chakat hopefully, "Do you?"

With pride in her voice, Starblaze puffed out hir chest and boasted. "31 hours in VR training, 99.97% accuracy in take off and landing, 89.99% ship repairs capability. And let's not forget that I can out manoeuvre any squad of pirates this side of the galaxy."

"99.97% accuracy in take off and landing?" Jane asked, eye brow raised.

Starblaze giggled and said, "Well, I didn't see the flock of birds the teacher had MYSTERIOUSLY added in the test."

Jane chuckled at this as well, she knew about the VR Flight Simulator teacher's penchant for altering the tests, to give the students strange but realistic unforseen dilemmas .

"Ok, you can come, but if you get space sick, you're floating home, got it?" Jane replied with a chuckle.

Starblaze just poke hir tongue out, and started gathering emergency gear.

2 packs of rations, 2 small phaser pistols, 2 communicators and 2 tricorders. Shi placed the items in a duffle bag and stored them in the capsules compartment under the seat.

Then shi settled inside and put the harness on.

Once the EEV was ready for launch, Jane started the 10 second countdown then ran towards the capsule, and settled herself in front of her chakat crewmate.

Looking back, she added, "And no funny stuff back there, got it?"

Starblaze gave a look of innocence, "Whatever do you mean?"

"Never mind, just hold on, the launch is really rough."

Starblaze unclasped the harness and placed it over Jane's head and strapped themselves both in.

"SHIP WILL DETONATE IN T-MINUS 1 MINUTE, YOU HAVE 20 SECONDS TO GET TO SAFE DISTANCE." The ships computer voice replied over the PA speakers in the Capsule.

"Damn, this is going to be close." Jane cursed.

She hit the control button that operates the plexi titanium glass that covered the front of the capsule, and she was relieved to hear the sealant hiss and made the capsule airtight from the vacuum of space.

The G-Force that hit their bodies as the EEV launched knocked them back into the seat, Starblaze grunted as Janes body was pressed hard against hir.

The grey walls of the interior of the starship was replaced by the blackness of space.

As the EEV sped away, the cold calculating computer counted down towards the ships destruction.

"T-MINUS 30 SECONDS AND COUNTING, 29 28 27 26 25 24....."

"Come on, faster, further.... PLEASE!" Jane whispered.

"19 18 17 16 15..."

"Is there a planet near by?" Starblaze queried?

"12 11 10..."

"Yes, Type L classification, Inhabitable." Jane replied, checking astronavigation equipments.

"6 5 4 3 2 1...." Then the ship was no more, first the reactor core blew up, taking the central and forward parts of the ship, then the engine's power core went.

Soon, 3 bright coloured fireballs filled the blackness of space. One white and 2 blue, then the shockwave spread away. Similar to when you create ripples in the water by throwing a large stone in it.

"Hold on, shockwave, incoming in 10 seconds, 9.. 8.. 7.. Brace yourself." Jane replied, grabbing hold of the seat, and in the process, the chakats tail as well.

Starblaze wrapped hir tail around both of them and held onto Jane with both hir fore arms and for limbs, hir claws inadvertently digging into human flesh.

When the shockwave hit, the capsule was spun around and around, end over front and spinning.

"I'm going to hurl" Starblaze murmured, closing g hir mouth.

"You'd better.... Blaugh!" Jane started to say, and instead threw up herself.

Starblaze threw up as well at smelling the vomit, all over Jane's front.

Then both cadets blacked out from the dizziness.

The EEV capsule tumbled through space, heading for the blue and green planet below.

Fortunately, the onboard computer kicked in the emergency protocol and switched the capsule to autopilot when it sensed no hands on the controls and the occupants life signs slowed down slightly.

Then the small EEV entered the planet's atmosphere, and proceeded to find a suitable landing spot.

The capsule heated up, and became a shooting star.

Soon it broke the upper stratosphere but the ships computer overheated and shut down. Soon it was hurtling towards the ground, with enough speed to kill the occupants inside.

Then the wisdom of the engineer's legacy kicked into play, Last Resort, Parachutes came out and slowed the descent of the capsule and it floated down til it entered and nestled amongst the treetops of the forest.

There it stayed, hanging 50 feet off the ground. Both occupants inside were unconscious. Below, denizens of the home world that 2 alien visitors have invaded, began their daily chores.

One of these denizens, were stirring from a restless sleep. Rubbing her bleary eyes, Keelah Silvertail stretched and yawned, exposing pointed sharp teeth.

Getting to her feet, she grabbed the bow, slung it and her quiver on her back, and proceeded to look for her mate.

He would most probably be foraging for food or water. She thought, smiling to herself. Slinking through the forest, darting from shadows to shadows, Keelah kept her eyes and ears alert for the Royal Guards.

She really didn't need trouble from those ruffians today. Lupane, on the other hand, would like nothing better to do than bash a few heads together for an early morning warm up. But, that would be asking for more trouble than they need.

Moving through the trees, she stopped suddenly, aware that something was wrong, something un-natural.

Sniffing the air, she could smell a strange odour, foul, metallic, and something organic.

Looking around, she glanced up, and gasped. Something was hanging in the trees.

It looked alien, a huge clear eye, and silver smooth skin.

There appeared to be 4 tube like things protruding out of the body.

Bow and arrow ready, Keelah aimed at the strange thing, ready to shoot if it made any movements.

After a few moments without any hostile signs, Keelah's curiosity was aroused.

Slinging the bow on her shoulder again, she climbed up the nearest tree, and scrambled upwards like a monkey. She soon reached the strange creature, and short sword drawn, inched closer towards the huge eye.

Getting close, she could see inside, and the sight she saw almost made her lose her balance, inside were 2 life forms, one was bipedal, wearing a strange sort of clothing.

She obviously was female, like her, because of the feminine features and breasts.

But it was the other creature that caught her interest.

She was also female, but definitely an Anthrop species, although, she was not bipedal.

She had a taur like body with an upper torso and slim arms and 5 digits, thumb and fingers. She too was dressed like the other one. She look feline, and a long tail was wrapped around them both.

Who ever they are, they must be rescued, before this thing digest them. Keelah thought, but I can't do it alone, I must get help.

Then she felt like she was being watched, and realized that it was the taur creature.

"Don't worry, I'll get help, and get you out of this THING!" she said, then hurried down the tree and landed on the ground.

Starblaze awoke to the smell of bile and of rocking and creaking. They had landed, sort of. Shi thought, then shi noticed a face looking at hir through the plexi portal.

It was fox like, pure white fur, and what looked like a wicked sword in her hand.

Looking closely, shi also saw a quiver and a bow slung over her back.

She was also wearing some sort of ancient tunic that covers her ample breasts.

Arctic Fox Morph, she realized, studying her features more closely.

She said something unintelligentable then disappeared from sight.

Oh Great, we're in the middle of some medieval era amongst primitives, Starblaze thought, now where in trouble.

Gently untangling hirself from Jane, Starblaze withdraw hir claws, wincing from the empathic pain hir action just caused. Then shi proceeded to shake the cadet awake.

"Hey, sleepy head, rise and shine." Shi replied, uncurling hir tail as well.

Jane groaned, opened her eyes a little, and said. "Did anyone get the licence of the star barge we ran into?"

"I think it said BYTE MY RS" Starblaze joked. Jane chuckled at this, and winced at the pain. "What the?" she said.

Starblaze looked down guiltily, "Sorry, went to hold you, but forgot about my claws."

"That's ok, at least we're alive, any Idea where we are?"

"No, but I think I saw one of the locals." Starblaze said, looking at the leaves and branches through the window.

"Good, I hope that they have a long distance communicator?"

"I very much doubt it."

"What do you mean by that?" Jane asked, looking back.

"Well, judging from the clothing, and the weapons she was wearing, I'd say that we're on a primitive planet, my guess, 12thcentury or later."

Jane let a groan of dismay. "Great, lords and peasants."

During their cadet academy, all Star Fleet trainees were taught all manner of early Earth history, cultures and customs and livelihood. For in their journeys in outer space, a lot of civilizations they came across had different types of local living.

From the far advance to the Stone Age, and everything in-between.

Starblaze had studied Earth's history with enthusiasm, getting an A+ on the test.

Shi loved the early history, especially the middle ages, where humans lived a symbolic and harmonious existence with nature, simular to hir foxtaur brethren.

And judging from the arctic fox morph shi saw, this may work out ok.

The only problem is getting help to get in touch with the rest of Star Fleet and being rescued.

Unclasping the harness, Jane said, "Well, I'm not going to hang around here any longer, waiting for help, if it ever comes." Then before Starblaze could stop her, Jane had released the canopy cover, which fell to the ground.

The sudden release of pressurized air and sudden shift change on Jane's part, caused the EEV to tilt and caused her to loose balance and fall out.

Screaming, Jane tumbled down through the branches, hitting them and land heavily on the ground with a sickening crunch.

There she laid motionless.

"Jane! Jane! Are you alright?" Starblaze called leaning out and holding onto the harness. Hearing no response, shi cursed and pulled out the emergency kit and the duffle bag and eased out of the opening, scanning the trees around hir, shi saw one branch no more than 3 feet below hir. Dropping down to it, Starblaze placed the med kit in the bag and slung it over hir shoulder. Then shi scampered down the tree limbs like the grace of the cat, which she was, partly.

Oh Bless the Creators Charles and Katherine for choosing this form. Shi thought.

Soon shi was on the grassy forest floor, and checking on hir companion.

Running the tri corder over her body, she noticed a fractured right arm and concussion.

Opening the med kit, shi took out a hyper needle syringe and placing the small vial from the tiny box, and injected the contents in Janes neck.

After administrating the small ounce of morphine, shi proceeded to work on her arm.

Using the scan as a guide, shi realigned the broken limb then placed a splint on the arm and wrapped it up with bandages and then made a sling to support it.

Soon, Jane opened her eyes and let out a groan, then started to giggle.

"I never thought that I would be glad to have you here with me." She said, as the morphine kicked it. "I bet I hit every Stupid Branch on the Stupid Tree all the way down?" the chakat just grinned, and replied, "Lucky it was the Ugly Tree, otherwise, I wouldn't be able to look at you right now..." and with that, they burst into laughter.

Keelah soon found Lupane, he was busy lugging a small deer over his broad shoulders. She stop to marvel at his tone strong body, and excitement course through her as she watch his muscles ripple when he walk under the load.

Upon seeing her, he gave a boyish grin and a wink. "Looks like we're going to dine well tonight, eh my love?" he said, stopping in front of her, shifting the weight so he could give her an affectionate muzzle mash.

"Yes, that looks yummy, I just hope you haven't poached on Panthrope's land, we don't need that kind of attention." She replied, lightly stroking her beloved's face.

"You needn't worry, I trek into Turner Plains for this tasty morsel." He giggled, then gave her rump a playful tickle.

Her dreamy look on her face made him smile, then was dismayed when she suddenly broke away, and became serious.

"Time for food and sex later, right now, I need your help."

"Whatsup?" he asked, his look quiet focused.

"I found something in the woods, something strange, it seem to have swallowed 2 people, and I need help getting them out."

"Are they royal guards?" he growled. Ears flat on his head. His hatred for the castle guards was understandable.

The guards were partially responsible for his clans destruction.

"No my dear, One is a Taur." Keelah replied.

"Ok, which way is it?" Lupane asked, hiding his kill in a nearby log, and covered it with leaves, then he grabbed his chained fist weapon and readied it.

"Follow me love, this way." And with that, both Keelah and Lupane headed into the woods.

To be continued...
