Stranger in the Rain

By Jet D. Wolf

I'm tired and hurt... why? ...What, did I do to deserve this? I can barely breathe and I can't really see, but someone is behind me. I turn to look and finally I start to see, and I fall backward, looking up at the Monster before me. In its hand, it has something red, with blood dripping down on the ground. I can tell that its mine, but before I can guess what it is, the monster opens it giant jaws and lunges towards me.

"Ah!" Trace said, sitting up now in bed. "What was that?" He thought to himself, "I've never had a dream like that." He turned and looked over, seeing Jake still asleep. Just yesterday, he had saved his life, took him in and mated with him. He was surprised that the tiger was still asleep after he just woke up screaming.

The dragon then turned and looked over at the alarm clock. It sat there, blinking 12:00 over and over again. "It seems as though the power went out overnight. I will set the clock later."

Trace then got up out of the bed, walked into the living room and stretch and yawned, with his eyes closed as he then walked into the kitchen. He stopped short as he heard loud talking outside. He opened his eyes as he saw he was standing in front of the wide open window, in the nude, stretching while some kids was getting on a school bus. He let out a yelp and hurried to close the window, tripping on his way over there.

After he made it to the window and managed to close it. He looked at his knee which was now throbbing with pain. "I have to be more secure with that."

He then limped slightly into the kitchen, and opened the refrigerator, grabbed some milk, a bowl and cereal. He then limped to the table as he heard Jake coming downstairs.

"Oh good, he is up", He thought with a slight smile. Jake walked into the kitchen and saw Trace limping.

"Oh My, I didn't think I was that rough last night. Even after having to bath five times because of us mating."

"No it is not your fault; I fell and hit my knee this morning."

"Oh, that is good; I can just--Oh, never mind." Jake hung his head in sorrow for a moment but then it faded and he seemed to be normal now.

"What were you thinking?" I asked with curiosity.

"It was nothing, just remembering something about when I was in my dimension."

"What was it? You can tell me."

"No, it's private and it is not important to tell me."

"I thought that since we mated, you should be able to tell me some things about yourself."

"Well, it is still too soon. I will tell you about it later, but now I'm still trying to get over me being stranded here."

There was an awkward silence for a minute and I decided to break the silence. "So, I don't have any money at the moment and I won't have any money until next week, so we will have plenty of time to get to know each other."

Jake still looked sad, so Trace walked up to him and hugged him saying, "Don't worry, its not that bad, you will enjoy life here. I promise."

It has been nine months since Trace made that promise and he has been true to his word. To Jake, everyday is filled with excitement and wonder as he figures out how to do many things in which seem primitive to him, but it still manages to surprise him.

During that time, Trace and Jake got closer and Jake was able to tell him some information about where he was from. One night, right before they lied down to go to sleep, Jake grabbed Trace and kissed him deeply.

"Wow that was random." Trace said in shock.

"Well, I'm just making sure once again that this is not a dream, I would kill myself if I woke up from this."

"Aw, you're just saying that to get me to have sex with you tonight."

"No, I'm serious, I-I love you, Trace. Being with you has made me really happy. I would not want to leave this even if they came back for me. I wouldn't want to leave you for anything."

Trace looked into his eyes for a second before finally speaking. "Me neither, these months have been the best months of my life. I'm glad I saved your life that day."

"I'm glad too."

"Of course you are! It's better to be alive than dead."

"I wouldn't go as far to say that" he said smiling at Trace, he then grabbed him and hugging him close he said, "but in this instance, I agree with you."

The next day, Trace was making sandwiches when Jake suddenly spoke out of nowhere, "How come you live alone? You never told me why before."

Trace looked sad, "well, that's because it is a sad subject for me to discuss."

"Oh, well you don't have to tell me then--"

"No, it would be good for you to know. My mother and my father died not long before meeting you. They were on their way to visit my grandma, because the doctor said she fell and probably wasn't going to make it through the night. My parents probably went into my room to get me but didn't see me there. They probably then ran off to find me, or went to go and see my grandma, but unfortunately, they didn't succeed in either one of them."

Trace's eyes started to water, but he continued to tell the story, "Later, a police officer contacted me and told me what happened and showed me my dad's phone, with my number dialed in. So in one night, I lost all of my remaining family members and part of it was my fault." Tears was now starting to fall down his eyes, "I mean, if I wouldn't have gone to that stupid party, my dad wouldn't have had to call me and they would still be alive. Heh, now I sound like those stupid movies."

"No you don't, you sound like you, the real you."

"That's coming from the guy who still hasn't told me much about his past."

You want to know about my past?"

"It was just the anger talking"

"No, I will tell you about my past. Well, I was..."

"Was what?"

"I was small peasant who managed to get place in my... my king's army. One day, the king gave a visit to the people in my army and asked for people to join in an experimental attempt to bring back plants and other organisms. Because our planet was dying, we had used up all of the planet's resources, there was only one tree left and it produced no seeds, scientists tried to clone the tree and create offspring, but it backfired as a mutation caused to plants to feed off of the same tree that they were made from."

Jake, was now looking away, as if deep in thought.

"Wait, how did you guys eat?"

"We had to eat off of each other, we became cannibals, and the first to go was the humans."

"Humans? What are they?"

"They are creatures like us but without fur or fangs or tails. But anyway, they died and only our species was ultimately left... And my parents were eaten by cannibals after our species was the only one left. I didn't really care much for my parents anyway. They were selfish and greedy. Not long after, scientists discovered a way to travel to other dimensions and I chose to go on an expedition in order to bring back life."

"And that's where it all went wrong and you ended up being trapped here."

"I don't think of it as being trapped, I think it was fated that we meet." He said with a smile, but Trace sensed that something was off with his tale, but he thought that Jake would tell him in time, because that's all they had, was time, time to get to know each other.

But things didn't happen like that and exactly nine months after meeting Jake, it seemed as though he might have to say goodbye.

It was a normal day, well, if you would call spending a day with someone from another dimension, normal. Trace had just gotten some supplies for the month and was in the process of carrying it to the house with Jake. He was still struggling with it when he ran into someone.

He fell backwards with all the groceries but was quickly caught by the person.

"Oh thank--"He stopped short as he looked at the person who helped him. He was a tiger, the same as Jake but bigger in size, weight and from the big bulge in his pants, bigger down there also. The tiger brought Trace back to both of his feet. Trace started blushing at being towered over by someone so big. He was also getting slightly aroused at it, but he snapped out of it and asked who he was. Before he could even answer, Jake came back outside and yelled "Oh My God, Kyle!!"

The older tiger turned towards him as Jake sprinted over to the bigger tiger.

"Hey, Little Brother"

Jake grabbed and hugged the bigger tiger tightly.

Trace was now confused and had many questions, so he said out loud, "can someone help me with the supplies and bring them in?"

Jake then looked at Trace and all the happiness that he had a second ago vanished.

After they had carried everything in and Trace put everything up, they all sat in the living room, seeing as Kyle was too big and broke his dining chair. It was quiet for a second before Trace finally broke the silence, "What are you doing here?"

"Well, our mom and Dad were worried, especially after--"

"Well, that's great, but I'm sorry--" Jake, said, interrupting Kyle, but before he could even finish his statement, Trace interrupted Jake.

"Wait, Jake's parents are alive?"

Jake tried to signal to Kyle to not say a word, but Kyle didn't understand it.

"Yeah, why wouldn't they be?"

"Well, I heard that they died after only your species was left."

"Our species the only one left? What have you been telling him, Jake?"

"Yeah, Jake, please explain this to me," Trace said with a sharp tone, that was uncharacteristic of him.

"Well, its getting late, we should really--"

"No! Answer my question"

Kyle suddenly got up, "don't speak to a member of the royal family like that!"

"Ok, so now you're a member of a royal family."

"I didn't want you to--"

"Didn't want me to what? To know about you?! It's obvious that everything that you've told me was a lie. And after I took you in and helped you, I am now figuring out that the same stranger that I found in the rain, who almost drowned, and who I sheltered for almost a year, is the same stranger to me now after all this time. I even considered you my mate, but I should have known better."

"I'm sorry--"

"You know, I don't want you to talk anymore, because everything you've said so far has been a lie. Was this all a game, did your dimension have fun playing with people from other dimensions and tricking them? You know what; I don't even want to know." He turned to Kyle, "You're here to get him, and bring him back right?"

"Yeah, of course"

"well, then I want u two to go and never come back to this place," He said, with tears coming down his face, "I don't even know this person in front of me anyway. He is a complete stranger. I just took care of him for you; it's obvious I mean nothing to him."

Trace stood there for a second in silence. Jake took this opportunity and stood up, "Love," Trace flinched, "I didn't mean to hurt you."

With Tears coming down his face, Trace faced the inevitable truth and said, "Love? You must be mistaken, because I do not know you... I never did love you."

He then ran upstairs and into his room and onto the bed, leaving Jake standing there.

Kyle looked at his brother and spoke, "Well, that means it's time to go." He grabbed a remote and pressed a button and not long after, the living room was silent. The only sound that was heard was the sound of the rain starting to come down.
