Prologue
#1 of Chained Chaos
New book starting, this will be readable by chapters on my patreon along with all my other content. Currently only the prologue is done.
In the beginning there was Chaos and there was Order. Chaos was the being of destruction, death, upset, ruin, and darkness. Order was the entity of light, presence, balance, calm, and creation. Order wished to create, from the emptiness came drops of light and then rocks, those drops of lights were something he called souls, the founding of creation; from these spread tiny tendrils to create what he called creatures. These creatures were much like him, breathing, living; and they lived on the tiny rocks. Chaos knew these things were important, these creatures and these rocks. Especially to Order, his desire to destroy the beloved objects of his fellow deity was all Chaos lived for. So he touched the favorite of Order's creatures with a darkness that spread every time he touched someone else. The Khaousie, a parasitic soul-worm that siphons energy from it's bearer, was placed within Titius, one of Order's most favored creatures. As each creature slowly died before his eyes Order slowly grew sicker with worry. He decided to go to the source, finding the Khaousie's root bearer; Titius, he found that the magic within the Khaousie was chaotic in nature. Being unable to destroy his favorite creation but knowing he could not break such a strong spell with just magic, he was able to save his creatures by making sure the stronger creatures would be burdened with the extra needs of the Khaousie so it would not need to spread to the weaker creatures. So each strong creature was paired with a weaker one, they were called the Chained and the Free. Each Chained needed someone when they were ready to take on a soul worm, to take care of them during the worm's feeding season, these were what we called Bound. For the Bound makes sure the Chained can continue to feed the Khaousie, for if that worm is not fed, we will die.
The Khaos Plague would start and the worm would spread, if one Bind wasn't completed the perfected armor of the Bound to keep the Khaousie fed would be destroyed and what was so carefully protected would be lost. It's why since the beginning we have had the Pairings. We were afraid of Titius and what Order would do if he was destroyed. But the new generation was tired of being scared and of being Bound. This is the story where we took back our freedom.
