#37 of Wind of Change

Creation and Destruction

Where there is life, there is death. Where there is order, there is chaos. Where there is a start...there will be an end.

Those are the main foundation of the universe and all its realities, one that keeps it perfectly in balance. When the scales are tipped towards one side, the universe will find the counterbalance, and it will tip back to its neutral position. One can never dominate the others perfectly. If there are more lives than deaths, then the universe will destroy itself, like a wildly spreading cancer. Conversely, if there are more deaths, then all lights will be gone, and the universe will be black.

A utopia only lasts for so long, as does dystopia. A lawful existence is balanced by chaos, and with it, there is creativity, one that will develop a universe and everything in it. As the universe starts with a bang, it will also return to its previous state with the end, and all realities will begin anew.

However, things will never be the same if the natural course of things are subverted by an external force, a force that finds amusement in testing the universe, with dire results. It may or may not know the consequences of its meddling, but it is clear that it never cared.

It has known the end of the current universe, but he is curious of what's beyond, or even what's before, as all records are virtually reset the moment everything resets, like a whiteboard with all its doodles, equations, and works erased, leaving it blank once more for a new set of similar, yet different, stuff. There will be new history, new stories, new civilizations, empires, federations, wars, and new lives all over the universe, all with their infinite branches of realities based on decisions and interferences. Yet, despite the massive library of records, it is still the universe where it exists. There are no records of what comes before. It is concerned that, like what comes before, the present will be wiped out of existence, and a new balance will be drawn.

Therefore, like all beings, be it entities or three-dimensional beings, it sought to find a way to prevent this purge from happening. It started slow, reviewing everything from the first bang to what would come, up to the point where the final catalogued event would unfold. As a fourth-dimensional being, time was an abstract concept, and going back and forth did not hurt anyone. However, meddling with a higher level of existence, however, was.

Like three-dimensional beings, entities such as this one particular 'Troublemaker' were curious that what's higher than they were. As the fourth dimension represented time, the fifth dimension represented reality itself. It was where consciousness that had expended their three-dimensional vessel ended up, something that could variously be called 'Heaven', 'Eden', 'Nirvana', or any other from countless beliefs. It would be where their existence, their 'reality', would remain, and enabled them to be remembered after their passing. Tampering with its balance would cause a damage that, while still possible, would be difficult to repair. Like a body, the universe could 'naturally' close its own wound if it was small enough, but what if it was big enough that it threatened not one, but all realities. While it seemed as if the 'wound', in the form of tear, only caused problems to three realities, it was big enough to spread, like an infected wound.

Eventually, realities would merge momentarily, and eventually crumble as their support became brittle. It was during this event we simply refer to as the Crossroads where everything unfolded. It was the beginning of an end, and without proper intervention, it would be the end of all realities, and thus the universe. Everything will begin anew prematurely, and the cycle would start again.

But of course, no one wanted their reality to end prematurely. Except for cults embracing it, most did not want and would reject it, even more so when they realize that it was nothing but a mishap, a side effect in a cosmic experiment.

The only thing to be aware of, however, is the unpredictability of events, and surprises, mostly impossible and reality-bending, awaits those who rejects the end of the universe.
