Chapter 1

The hunt

It was a wonderful morning and the wind painted gently over the banks of the river Tiglus to meet some on the first houses of the village of Felgan one hundred meters further. Cyron stood in front of hims front door, enjoyed the fresh smell of the water which blew for it around the nose and listened to mumbling the coolant pumps and the water cleaning plants which untiringly took the river water quietly to provide the population with drinking water. The first beams of the sun which had started to tickle the peaks of the mountains being located at the horizon warmed hims fur. He looked round contentedly, blinked with easily strained eyes contrary to the fixed star of the planet Genro and could be driven by hims thoughts. Genro was hims native country world, it just was his for many Chafren which looked like very different. The Chafren are living beings going anthros, the AnChafren, predominantly so upright with a human character and the ability to think and to speak logically. However, your appearance corresponds to that one of an animal, as well there is also four-legged Chafren, the QuChafren. Every Chafren-species had built their own town since it failed, the claims to bring everybody species under a hat. The big and small cats lived in Felgan. The dogs, wolves and hyenas lived in Strongham, in Festan lived the anthro-horses, pegasi, unicorns and anthro-deers, the dragons in Festan in Dragobar, in Trieden the griffins and the taurs and bulls in Taurel and Minzin. Everyone Han-Dun met on the central market place to sell their products in. One concluded smaller business on the respective village squares. Flying dealers dropped in from other towns from time to time, too but this was rather rare. Every species had their specialties, it these offered. The cats sold meat which they carried off on the hunt. The dogs were responsible for the living cattle because not only Chafren in the world but also normal four-legged friends lived it. Responsible, were the taurs had the transport taken and finished this by use of the corresponding cattle or handled of it at once himself by spanning in front of the carts for heavy materials like rock, ores and other mineral resources, called the minotaurs or also bulls. Responsible and these were equine the griffins for fresh eggs and poultry for fresh fruit. Merely the dragons kept all this out of it from out, and, till now, no-one really had got one to face, one only knew that they exist.

Cyron pondered over the life while he had hims tiger skin heated up of the sun. Never it funny was forty-five years old at this time, he had heard of dragons from stories of hims parents and no, he also had seen that they have a town, seen, however, unite. So either they provided themselves completely alone or it did not give it. It personally rather tended towards the the latter variant, this one also gave him a certain degree of blind self-assurance. What would he do also if a dragon suddenly stood opposite him, condemned? But this was a hypothetical question because there were no dragons. What was, however, very real was hims companion through life Stella. She was a wonderful tigress and had at all the most beautiful stripes of the whole village. He had met her at the age of seventeen years and she was at that time only soft fifteen. It was in the true sense of the word love at first sight and her first estrus lay ahead briefly. It simply smelled seductive. The wedding did not let wait for herself for a long time and had been held in a little circle. They merely the parents of both had at this and not to be forgotten the village magician. This one was allowed never to be absent at ceremonies, otherwise a marriage was under a very bad omen, for example. For any incomprehensible reason nevertheless they had let the technological progress, how running water, electric power and much more in their life but this old cult arrested were. Well, Cyron did not keep passed very many of the whole hey presto but hers parents and also Stella on this. As a good marriage tomcat he submitted to the will and ordered the magician to this. He retired slowly from hims trains of thought, chased a fly away which had vehemently foreseen it on hims nose the door turned round and opened. Whether Stella had already woken up became it time to look. He peeked carefully to the door in and noticed that the lunch was already set and how meat much always lay on the plates. The tigress approached him lively and cheerfully and cordially hugged him. "Good morning, my spouse", she welcomed him. Hers voice was simply fantastic and drifted him every time one desire feeling into the loins. He did think: 'No, now. Our daughter should come and has to go to school down at once the stairs. For this the time is not enough.' He caressed hims cat very heartily and put himself on his chair. Stella equaled him and called to her daughter. It passed hardly a minute, appeared to Tarja at the upper end of the stairs there and looked quite crumpled. Cyron saw at hims daughter. "However, you look very morosely, my little angel." "Grrrrrrrrrr", it slipped Tarja out. "Uih. So bad so?" "I like to have it to get up not, so early. School is stupid and hangovers are stupid." "Thank you that I am stupid", replied Cyron. "However, it can not be at all darling, so terrible", Stella interfered. "It is anyway. The tomcats are sinewy, have only stupid ideas, otherwise permanently annoy one and also behave strangely." The father said, "Aha", and had to grin quietly. He looked at hims wife, rolled with the eyes. She pulled up the eyebrows after that only briefly which should reprimand him and did not miss his effect either. "Tells stories, what depresses you anyway", Stella bored in her daughter and she nudged. Her husband got stuck in the meantime into his meat. After all, he had got away with the animal. Really very successful, what were him in it only pride did not make him and the general envy the other one earned, but also great respect. Tarja bit off a piece of meat and chewed on this around. Her mother saw you to and mumbled something with mouth full, how what should mean so much well: "Now not and not in front of father." The mother immediately understood that it had to be a purely female matter and nodded only briefly. After Tarja had hers mouth freely again, she asked directly out: "Why I do not have any sister actually? Other cats in my age have a sister. I would have one also, with this one I could talk about everything. With you this somehow does not go." Cyron looked Stella into the eyes. Her one shuffled: "Now yes, of course this is a good question." He had to cough and passed the word on to hims partner. "Oh, yes. Typical. Around questions of the reproduction goes, then the tomcat keeps out of it and prefers to leave the battlefield to his female if." Cyron twitched coyly with the shoulders and mumbled only briefly, that he must for the hunt since the next day the sale would line up on the central market place. Stella sighed and saw the door from the outside like he behind himself closed. "Good, my wealth. What exactly depresses you really?" Tarja began in embarrassment on hers chair to and fro to slip. "Hmmm, hmmm..." "Na say, loose." "It is all about, well, the tomcats are so funny in my class lately. These have looked at me so funny for a couple of weeks. Said more exactly for a couple of years since I am fourteen. In addition, they whisper with each other if I am present. And I am absolutely sure that it is about me. In addition, I have heard that they compare the length of something allegedly under each other." Stella breathed deeply deeply. 'At Bastet! This was worse than thought.' "It then, now works well, to the sexual clearing up now. Why also not." Tarja was a whole ear and stared into the eyes at the following explanations of hers mother and stuck at hers lips. "Well, love thinks. It has not escaped the tomcats in your class that you become a ripe tiger. Therefore ripe for the first contacts with the other gender. In addition, you have got really very pretty and have very distinctive female charms. This mixes up the hormones with the males because this maturation process does not pass by the to also without trace. It is, still a whispering concealedly you but already soon will this one get to know first ones better woolen and you will notice certain changes at its body. This should not frighten you but you should not certainly go into it." "What kind of change?",Tarja asked. Stella wondered how she would most skillfully come from this number out because she did not want to go into the detail. "Its look will be a little enraptured in your proximity, it will stare at you but not endanger you. He perhaps will purr as, at that time, your father has always done it. He, and in the region of the waist will something change will, how I shall say it, get more corpulent." She had to smile at the thought on it. "And he will have the desire to establish closer body contact to you, will cuddle want himself perhaps to you, rub himself perhaps even at you well. If you feel the same wish, then it is ok if not, you then should prevent this and reject him." "For what because body contact? In addition, is this a tomcat, who wants already contact to it?" "You say this now. In the past, I have this, said in your age also. And I am on close terms for twenty-eight years with your father now. Sometimes all this walks faster than one thinks. Oh, you know something? You already will do the right thing and your heart will show you the right way." She gave a smile her daughter lovingly. "You must go now, however, otherwise you arrive to the education too late so." "Spare away", she still said, already had the door handle in her hand and had disappeared. Stella sat down and sighed. 'Hopefully she really does the right thing and rushes nothing. I feel a catastrophe pull up there.'

Cyron had set out on the hunting. He at first went onto the village square and met there with hims hunt companions, a lion tomcat named Hadron, another tiger named Pathenon and a quite nimble guy named Hylas, a lynx. He was considerably more mobilely smaller in the undergrowth as the others and through this therefore a real enrichment of the hunt. "Any hyenas hopefully do not get in our way from Strongham again", Hadron hung on for the welcoming. "Not if I can prevent it", Hylas replied. Pathenon sighed, "your word in the ear of the tall cat goddess." They made yourself on the way to the nearby woods. Cyron broke the silence during the march to paw. "You have that we make less and less spoils within the last weeks noticed it actually? Even with our improved spears and with the flight optimized arrows we have hardly a chance. What one can shoot simply gives nothing." Pathenon nodded agreeing. "You have right. I know also not to what it is but we must want to extend our hunting grounds willy-nilly. This will lead to conflicts with the Caniden automatically, though." "Yes, I know. Hyenas. I hate hyenas." "Yeaaaaah. But, Hadron. We know that you do not like the types. But at everything what will do. We must share with them because they are also entitled to spoils, like us." "Yes!", The lion mumbled unfortunately. "Silence!!!", Hylas suddenly hissed, "I hear what." "Yes. Also hear I it", Cyron whispered, "what this is?" "What is what?" "Aoorggh. Or under your thick mane? Time becomes, that you go to the hairdresser's again." "Grrrr." "Na, terrific. Do we want to take each other apart now mutually or do we finally concentrate on the essential?" "There since. It is there again." Everyone really heard it, because now it got louder. It got closer and. It was a fine buzzing sound which definitely could not be part of any known animal. "Perhaps it is one of the power stations in the area?", Pathenon mumbled. "Yes, exact. Very logical and this power station have prepared to yourself on the paws now and move in our direction", Hylas completed. Pathenon looked at the lynx furiously. All others stared into the direction from which the noise seemed to come. Meanwhile, they even already had to be remarked that the sound was not constant but open and seemed to go down. The looks got still more concentrated and more nervous. "What must at once be seen there. Approaches", Pathenon put on, did not get further, however, because with a crashing loudly three hyena females suddenly debouched from the undergrowth of the woods and stormed in the direction of the tomcat just like the noise is. "How disgusting!",Hadron found disgusting. "Slowly. We foresee what first these want", Cyron played down. When the hyenas saw the predatory big cats, the four they fell back in a more quiet walk and came rather leisurely on. "Good morning!", Uri, one of the hyenas, said, "how I see you already are on the legs too, to make spoils." Cyron replied: "But clearly, but we after all may well chase also here and not only you. How occurs to me, why since it real not with your cattle herds?" "The times are harder and one must see for weeks where one remains." The predatory big cats nodded, merely Hadron had a hardened face. "I understand this completely but why you have run so, then?" "We ? Coagulated? Never!", Lyra was indignant. "We have seen it everyone oh but. You have slowed down first when we could see you." The hyenas were convicted quite clearly and shuffled. "Well, so embellish. But admit you also have heard this noise. We have seen something and a big shadow fly around the heaven." "An noise! I see! Of course we have heard it. We finally do not sit on our ears", Hadron boasted. A downright lie, because one after all finally had to push it almost with the nose on this so that it took it for full at all. Lyra continued: "We suspect that dragon could itself have traded it around one." "A dragon? There are no dragons!", Cyron rumbled. "There is it, oh but. I have seen one myself before." "Unbelievable! You want to sell us well for stupid?" "No, not honestly. It is a legend, though, that they can spew fire and the largest portion of them is oriented rather pacifistly." This really enough Cyron now, however. "These are all fairytale oh rubbish, anyway. I do not believe in dragons sooner until I have see which ones. Do you have any proof of your bold assertions, then?" The hyenas looked helplessly at themselves because so much unbelief had not expected them. "No, we do not have any proof, only our word." "Who believes hyenas this one is lost", thundered Hadron. He simply could not leave it. "Oh, so you think so. Na, this is terrific. Then we do not need further to talk at all and immediately finish the conversation here and now." The hyenas were obviously insulted. Hylas did not like the condition and he tried to mediate. "Hello? Gets all of you again." And addressed to the hyenas: "Please excuses our lion friend.. Sometimes his behavior really leaves to be desired." The faces of the hyenas brightened obviously whether the excuse, those of the lion darkened for this andhe left all involved without losing further word. After a short farewell the two tigers and the lynx ran after the lion. "Says. Can you what declare to me, this just should?", Pathenon placed him, next to task. Hadron looked at him only furiously and went on. "I call this an extremely precise answer. Only a lion can do this." This was too much of a good thing and the lion tomcat let a pervading cry off. "I am not a hyena friend and this is your problem then, if it is you. But agree on their under yourselves. For my part I has for today enough and turns now home again." "Fine. All of us return home to our families again and tell them that we have caught nothing since we had to tear each other to pieces."

The lion stopped, looked at Cyron and sighed. "Right has Cyron. We should go really home. I do not think that we catch something here and today certainly. In addition, a certain lynx had sounded loudly that he prefers to prevent a coincidence with the hyenas", Pathenon said. "Na, terrific. I am being to blame for everything well again now." Hylas was obviously insulted. Cyron looked at the lynx profoundly. "Yes, yes, you are right. With our clamor we probably have scared the wild away in a radius of eight kilometers." The four so went back to the village again and reached it in the afternoon.
