Noctis

My son hatched today. The first hatchling of a new species. Oh dear, in all my years bringing new life into the world never becomes any less soul shaking. When his piercing blue eyes fell on me after tumbling from his shell I felt the world stop and fade until there was nothing but me and him. It was all that mattered.

He can speak limited Standard already at this point. The mental development is much more advanced to limit the period in which vulnerability is highest. His emotions and thoughts are easily discernable from the link that I've left open between us. Mostly at this point a combination of hunger and burning curiosity. Half of his waking time has been spent gaping his jaws hopefully at me broadcasting his famished distress. The other half has been busily exploring the nest and surroundings while taking in the explanations I project towards his mind. He has even taken to repeating the object names that he hears. Most remarkable was the question of; "who am I?"

In all honesty I did not know what the capabilities of the newly hatched would be. But this is incredible! Less than one day old with a sense of self already?

"I have named you Surya for you are my sun." I told him.

"Sur...ya" he repeated. "Surya" he said with an accepting bob of his head. "I am Surya" he said flinging his head and tail up then gamboling around the nest like the newborn he is.

"I am Surya! Are there others like me yet?" He stared at me wagging his tail excitedly with his ear fins and wings raised in expectation.

"No little one, not yet. You are the very first of the young. Soon enough you will be joined by Sylvia's hatchling."

At this news his wings and tail drooped to the ground in disappointment. But he quickly recovered by bouncing up and down on his paws with his blue eyes aglow eagerly asking; "Who is Sylvia? Is she a friend? Can I meet her? I'd like that! What's a hatch...ling?"

As I gently wrapped around him (my paw was larger and heavier than him) and licked the crown of his head I said; "Oh little one. The lifetime I will spend showing you the world is to be the greatest honor and the highest achievement I can imagine."

Sylvia

Gently rubbing the back of my Greg's head and neck with my snout and rumbling reassurances to the egg pressed against my lower belly was how Noctis found us. Fuck, what fresh hell is here now I asked myself.

Scales bristling in waves while instinctively coiling my tail around my egg pulling it closer to my warmth, I growled; "Yes?"

"You'll like this" she said wirelessly. This sent she curved her head back to something hidden behind her. "Come little one I want to introduce you to friends of mine."

"Little one?" I echoed, confused. Then in amazement Greg and I both reared up with our heads weaving back and forth in excitement "It hatched?" we exclaimed together.

With a call of "wooooaaawww" as he tumbled into view we finally saw our first hatchling. The very image of Noctis (no surprise as she more or less cloned herself) and little more than a meter long and a third that high.

He scrambled up on to his legs after his grand entrance then bounded forward and sat right before us on his rump with tail sweeping clean the ground behind him as we watched in amazement.

"Hi" he chirped eagerly. "My name is Surya! I'm a hatchling! Do you want to be friends?" He asked swiveling his back and forth tilting it side to side trying to take us both in. "You both look different. Are you still dragons?"

"No, stop, please stop" I said shaking myself.

Confused and a little concerned he wrapped his wings close and craned his head back to Noctis for reassurance. Who herself seemed taken aback.

"You're too fucking ADORABLE to be real. No way. I feel like I'll burst if you say one more cute little word!" I howled flinging my head back in disbelief.

Thankfully Greg filled in for me at this point and lowering his head spoke aloud to Surya.

"Hello little one. We are both pleased to meet you, and we would both gladly call you our friend! Do you know who we are? My name is Gregory and this is Sylvia" (he twined his tail tightly around mine as he said this) "Would you like to play?"

"Okay" he squealed in delight then scampered up Greg's tail to his back then his head. "I can see everything! Can I be tall too?" He started batting at Greg's horns. "What are these called?" Then he swiveled his head to Noctis. "What does fucking mean?"

"Uh..." She said intelligently while thinking towards me "damn you, he is one day old!"

"By the light of the gods" I said recovering from my outburst. Leaning in close to look at him he stretched his neck out to sniff at me.

"You smell warm! I like to be warm!"

Before I could react he made the short glide to my own head then curled around my horns and settled comfortably in place. Finally relaxing I chuckled and slowly lowered my head to place him next to the egg while I talked to Noctis.

"Oh" he said "What is this?"

"That" I replied proudly "is my e.."

With a sound like gunfire a crack appeared in my egg. "But it's too damned early!" I wailed loudly. Tears began cascading down my long nose "It is weeks too soon!" I frantically touched my tongue to the egg trying to find out what went wrong. Startled at my distress Surya ran back to hide behind his mother's fore leg and peered back with one fascinated eye. I couldn't help but writhe my body into coils anxiously while Greg and Noctis attempted to soothe me.

"Shhh, shhhh, It's alright love. Look how brittle the shell has become! It is the right time." Greg said while enveloping me in his wings and licking the tears from my snout.

As we all watched the popping and cracking eggshell, smoke began to issue from a large fissure. "What? It's on fire!?" I cried. With a wave of heat the egg shattered leaving a small orange and black hatchling in its place with a piece of shell perched atop its tiny head.

She was not even as big as Surya even though we expected that. But she had my black underbelly and wing membranes and Greg's rusty scales. She also inherited my own double row of spikes and crown of horns.

With a crackling stream of fire (!) and a kick of a rear leg she declared "And take that, you small, dark, stuffy thing!" Then looking around at us with bright red eyes she said "how nice it is to see you after hearing you for so long!"

At this I reached down with my head to gather my child to my flank. She was so very tiny.

"Greg, oh Greg. She's so beautiful. I never knew, I never knew how it felt before." I sobbed (or snuffled) while wrapping my long neck around Greg's and humming my adoration for her, Greg, and everything. Releasing him I turned to lay my head down next to my baby.

Greg joined us both, glowing with his love as he laid his head down next to her opposite my own. Taking turns we caressed her with our snouts and licked away the albumen while crooning our affections. I also flicked my tongue out to knock the fragment off the top of her head eliciting snorting amusement from her as she was tickled by our attentions.

"Can you give me a name? What's that smell? Hello!" She squeaked. The last comment directed at Surya. "I heard you talking and didn't want to wait anymore! I knew you could be a friend!"

Surya squealed and bounced in excitement at the idea of another his own age to play with. "Did you see that? The e.. made a loud noise and now I have another friend! Where can I find more e..s?" he said to Noctis.

Greg's nearest eye moved to look into my own. "Love, would you do the honor?" he asked.

This I can fucking do!

"My little fiery one" She curled her neck around to look into my eyes. "Your name is Sekhmet, my lioness".

She immediately licked my snout and then Greg's while performing a strange twisting dance between us in her excitement. "I have a name! Can I eat now? I smell something... It smells red!" She flicked her narrow tongue out while pointing her snout hopefully towards the last third of a kill made just a couple of hours ago by Greg. "My belly is making noise and it hurts!" she whined, flaring her tiny wings in distress.

"You are hungry, it is time for you to eat, my child. I expect you to grow longer and taller than me!" She needed no further encouragement than that. Although she did surprise us again, as after her first tearing bite of the carcass she seared the rest of it with a long blinding exhalation. "It tastes better!" she said.

Noctis took this opportunity to leave with Surya clinging to her head. Saying as she left; "I will call everyone to the commons, today is a day to celebrate. The first hatchlings, long may they thrive in this new world."

** Gregory**

Noctis was as good as her word. Gathering all the dens into the commons. Even those that had nested. Several weeks ago I had taken to make mobile incubators that could be carried by the parents with their eggs safely ensconced inside. It was easy enough and with all having lost the need for human style structures there was more than enough material to recycle for other uses. The only sealed structures anymore are the labs clustered around the commons. We had one and all grown too large to make these practical. As a result the interior functions were operated via wireless control. The only other structures were large pavilions to provide some degree of protection from elements.

There, I got the professional things out of the way to talk about what I really want to. Sylvia and Sekhmet.

When we introduced the young to the others I felt ready to burst. There was no way I could have swelled my chest out further in pride seeing our child introduce herself to the others before tumbling off in play with Surya. Only one day old! There could be no comparison to the mammals we were before! This development would've taken years.

The stunned looks of wonder on the other soon to be parents at watching the antics of the newly hatched and the realization of what they would soon have the pleasure of knowing. There are simply no words I could use.

And Sylvia, my dear Sylvia as you lay next to me with eyes lidded in satisfaction I couldn't help but nudge you under the chin to gain your attention. Then quietly I pressed my snout to yours in solidarity staring right into your beautiful slitted eyes. "What a life we've gained love. A child and millennia knowing her, how could we ask for more?" I thought to my mate.

"I love you so, so much" she sent back "and I can't imagine this journey with anyone else. The only thing that could make this more perfect is another egg". She licked my lower jaw gently several times crooning, then nudged my side with her head until I was flat on my back wings spread wide and pinned me by draping her forequarters over me. From her new position gazing down at me with eyes nearly closed and full of unspoken promises she continued to rub my throat with her long muzzle nipping gently at the tender scales.

"We're almost at our full growth. You do know what comes in to season when that happens don't you?" I asked slyly.

"Mmmmmeeeee" She purred, baring her fangs in a feral grin.

Slowly we cocooned ourselves in our vast wings. Tucked inside we glowed like the stars above with our love and desire for each other.

** Carol**

"Well I wasn't expecting this today" I sent to Riku. He just kept weaving his head back and forth watching the young ones. I rolled my eyes and jetted a stream of water into his flared nostrils when his head turned towards me, he sputtered a choked snarl but I just ignored him. I then arched my neck to lick the egg making sure it hadn't gone anywhere since I last nosed at it 30 seconds before.

Sylvia will never be able to take advantage of her strength with us again at least. Now that we were arrayed before everyone we could see just how much larger we had become. If anything our growth seems to have accelerated from just before I laid the egg five days ago through to at least now.

According to Alessandra I have reached a height of 12 meters and 58 in length. Not surprising to me given that I estimate I'm eating about 700,000 calories a day of the most delicious seafood imaginable (the thought of food made me lick my chops again it's been at least four hours since my last octowalrus). Alessandra observed me for two hours and said I had grown 10cm in that time. Riku himself has come up to 10 meters and 48 in size (he doesn't like me being bigger, tough shit I say). Our snouts alone are longer than we used to be tall. We would have been bite size for us as we are now. Plus I find it profoundly satisfying for the ground to shudder when I land since I weigh 16 tonnes (never thought I'd be proud of my weight or length).

Well, like I said five days ago I had my egg. One point five meters tall and 50kg. It is all over an ivory color with wispy bands of black and green. The mobile incubator is not really necessary as I prefer to have it only slightly above ambient temperature. So instead I had carried it in my own claws to the meeting where it nestled in a hollow I dug next to me. More importantly is that it must remain moist! Easy enough since I've found the ability to swallow and regurgitate many, many liters of water for that singular purpose. (Might be handy for putting out fires I'd guess. cough Sylvia cough).

Seriously where does all that water go? Maybe my long tail is hollow? It sure is big enough, I better check. Stepping into it and driving through my hips I whapped Riku with my tail. Nope, no sloshing.

Howling in injured surprise and far from impressed by my broadcast of amusement, he sprayed my face with his own deluge of water and tried to butt my shoulder with his head, instead he slid down to his belly when I didn't budge (HA!).

"You alright?" I asked poking him with a forepaw, he shrugged his wings looking up at me with unfocused eyes as I moved to loop some of my never ending body back around my egg (look at that flexibility!). I then tilted my head to let the remainder of the water run off onto it.

Turning back to watch the younglings roll across the commons in a many limbed ball of abandon. I opened my wing invitingly for Riku to nestle closer to my warm underside. An invitation he did not refuse tangling our necks together while rubbing his snout against mine rumbling his pleasure he returned to watching the younglings wistfully. My thoughts began to wander towards our future. Soon enough our egg will hatch but what then? Noctis told us about our roles. Are we to stay here with our child? Explore with it? Split up? Leave it behind? I shudder at the last two, not something I could easily bring myself to do. I know Riku couldn't either.

I suppose this is just something that as mates, Riku and I will have to work out in short order. I will also need to...

"Hi!"

Rearing my head back at this interruption of my distracted brooding, I looked down at glowing red and blue inquisitive eyes.

"Whatcha thinking bout?"

"Is that your e..?"

"My e..? My egg?"

"Is that what it's called? Neat! Egg! Did you know the last egg I saw made loud noises and became my friend!?! Will yours do that too?"

Rumbling out my amusement I said "Well I certainly hope so! But I'm afraid you will have to wait a while for that to happen."

"Where are my manners little ones I expect you don't know our names. Let me introduce myself. I am Carol"

"And I am Riku. Carol and I are mates. Could you tell us your names again? That's how you meet new dragons."

"I am Surya! I'm a hatchling! What are mates?"

"And I am Sekhmet! I'm a lioness! Can we be your friends?"

Riku and I twisted to glance at each other. "Of course you can be our friends! How wonderful of you to ask!"

"Aww... you didn't answer my question." Surya whined drooping his limbs.

"Mates" I said "are......friends....for life!" I bobbed my head several times pleased at my evasive explanation.

Riku sent "no no no no" and was frantically flicking his head back and forth in a negative signal.

"Wha...?"

"Neat!" Both hatchlings chirped before turning and asking each other "Do you want to be my (oh shit; I thought) mate? YES!" they erupted simultaneously.

"Let's go tell our parents!" they exclaimed scampering off.

"Hey, wait" I whimpered, pitifully curling myself as small as I could around my egg.

"5, 4, 3, 2, 1" Riku counted off.

"CAROL!" Noctis blared across my connection followed by Sylvia's overwhelming tirade "You fucking salivating overgrown gods damned sea serpent! You limp vegetative shit swilling kinked hell spawn of a garter snake! Do you know what I was busy doing? You thrice damned kelpie! AND YOU SPUN MY ONE DAY OLD DAUGHTER UP TO COME TELL ME SHE'S MATES WITH ANOTHER ONE DAY OLD WHEN I WAS WITH GREG! FUCK FUCKING FUCK DAMNIT FUCK! THIS IS WHY I CAN'T FUCKING MEDITATE LIKE EVERYONE WANTS ME TO!" She ended her roaring by firing a 20m long waving banner of fire into the air killing a good number of the flying squid overhead.

I slowly hid my head under my wing closing my eyes with an unhappy whine while Riku shook us both with his grinding laughter.

** Riku**

Okay, the kids are fucking cute. Also I'll never let Carol live today down. I'm sure Sylvia won't either after her interrupted attempt to run the bases with Gregory right in front of everyone. Their wings actually made a pretty good shield. No one knew what was going on until the events with the hatchlings went down. But you know what? Fuck it, we're living mythical creatures colonizing a whole new world in one measly little far off quadrant of the collective now, past morals belong in the past. Alright, there. You happy? I'm busy organizing the next round of the aerial tournament.

** Alessandra**

It's been two weeks since Surya and Sekhmet were hatched and so much has changed since then. I thought while soaring blissfully over the expanded medical pavilion (the old scanners wouldn't even fit one of our legs in them) as well as my nest.

Nate and I had made our nest by ripping up trees, bushes, etc. and constructing a massive dome structure sealing the cracks with mud dredged from the lake next to it. My get kept warm by the result of razing a field of tall dried grass (that tail spike sure is handy). Trying out some techniques that Noctis taught me I even seeded vines around the edges to grow up and over the dome that produce a brilliant yellow flower the same shade as Nate's scales (damn I'm good).

He showed me his appreciation for this gesture immediately and thoroughly in the new nest as well. I'd never miss a chance to ride my bolt of lightning I thought, giggling lustily. The way he moves so gracefully in the sky is mirrored by the poetry in motion his lithe body becomes in our nest. Or in the clinic, or the tree line, or while hunting, or getting water. Anywhere really.

A sentiment Nate returns by saying "My energy pales in comparison to your own. How can I compare to one who brings the force of life itself to bear wherever she may go?" Before attacking me in an energetic outpouring of enthusiastic nipping caressing squirming love in the waters of our lake.

Preening smooth my ruffled scales glowing with the heat of my memory I tried to get back on track.

Every other den has laid at least one egg since. With all the different types represented in this upcoming generation.

Just this morning and one day ahead of projections Carol's egg had hatched. The announcement by her and Riku was done by spiraling through the sky spraying water in a complex display of acrobatics with tiny Mazu clinging to her mother's frills shrieking with her own glee at the antics heralding her hatching.

I myself have my own reason for unbridled joy. One that I've already shared with the equally ecstatic yellow dragon joining me on the thermals. He was hovering himself over our nest keeping one eye on it and the other on my twirling flight around him. I had not been carrying just one egg but two. Even without the scans I knew it was so, a feeling deep inside of twin beats in time with my own mortal drum. I kept it from Nate as a pleasant surprise until the time came to lay.

I had been working in the clinic when that time came. Feeling the new sensation of a driving urge to return to my quiet sheltered nest and its lake as well as the twinges within my womb as the first egg pushed slowly downwards. No pain though, I noted. Just the gradual undulation of my canal and the feeling of my opening dilating in anticipation. I called out to Nate telling him it's time. Soon enough I had sunk into our lake with Nate by my side. As he saw the first one emerge from my vent he turned to caress me.

That is when I nudged his snout and whispered; "keep watching and get ready for your surprise". His eyes doubled in gleaming realization as he looked back. And with a snort from my nose a few minutes later the second egg slid free of my body and into the water. His stunned amazement caused him to stop moving for a time. (I actually thought my surprise had broken him.)

Flashing back into motion his excitement at the revealing caused a not insignificant portion of the lake to overflow its banks. Caressing my snout passionately and trilling his ecstasy he nibbled at my throat and energetically licked my sensitive scales. All this sublime caressing made me croon causing the water to dance with my resonating love.

Bobbing in the water with our children held between us by our wings we arched our necks and pressed our snouts together. Staring right into the other's love struck eyes we let our tears of joy and thanks mix as they ran down our muzzles and on to our eggs. A first blessing from parents awaiting the glimmer of their children's bright eyes.

Finally, tucked inside the nest, buried in the hay with the eggs pressed carefully to the heat of my underbelly and Nate's form surrounding mine. We told the others.

** Nathan**

"We are really building up as a colony now. Almost five weeks since the first hatchlings emerged we now have at least one in half of the dens. Noctis has begun to coordinate with a representative of every field of expertise we have in order begin the standard educational setup. It will have to be slightly modified as too date only 12 colonies or so have had aerial adaptations. Including a truly weird group existing deep in the atmosphere of a gas giant. Can you imagine becoming an ethereal intelligent cloud of ionized gas?" I had to stop and while nodding excitedly looked to see how this was received by the young ones. Oh, me getting to teach? How thrilling!

Arrayed before me in various states of sniffing around the room were Surya, Sekhmet, and Mazu. Surya was looking at me in wide eyed curiosity with his tilted to the side like one hearing a high pitched tone. Sekhmet seemed to be busy experimenting with her breath on parts of the floor if her attempts to throttle her fire into a shorter hotter flame were any indication.

"Hey, that's not heat resistant tile!"

No sooner had the words left my lips than it crumbled into a powder.

"Urk" I croaked, glancing away. "Uh, Greg? Sylvia?" I sent out.

"We've got it" they replied.

After that Sekhmet gazed emptily at the ground adopting the look one does when new to the computer link. It appeared her father or mother were speaking with her.

Looking for Mazu, who had somehow disappeared I noticed movement at about a height of 12m. Just as I saw it, there was a dark blur and then Mazu was clutched to the tip of my snout.

"Gotcha" She crowed, blinking her dark ocean blue eyes. Only three weeks old already she was half a neck length taller and much longer than all the other children even those older than her. Her black scales and dark green underbelly with yellow accents inherited from both parents along with her prodigious size. Instead of horns she had a webbed membrane stretched between tiny spines spread around the back of her head along with her smaller ear fins. Not to mention the long curtains trailing down her neck, back, and legs. Finally on very end of her tail were two more finned membranes above and below much like an expressive rudder. She was two and three quarter meters tall and nine long.

But, must curiously of all was that she had three whiskers on each side of her much longer and pointed snout trailing down to the level of her chest. She says she likes the feeling when they're in water. Although no one is quite sure what she means by that as yet.

"You certainly are a sneaky one. But if you ever want to race just let me know." I told her.

Slumping her head on top of my nose she whined "But no one is faster than you!"

I snorted several times as her whiskers tickled my snout. The sharp breeze from my nostrils sending her fins dancing like sheets hung out to dry. Then I continued.

"What would you say to a race in the water? I am sure that you would have a fair chance of beating me there, you little eel." I said, teasing her.

"Okay you big glow bug! You're on! Giving it as good as she got, I rumbled my amusement to her.

Lowering her to the ground where she took off and tackled Sekhmet. The poor dragoness was just recovering from the link and gave a strangled cry when the larger female threw her over her shoulder on to her back and started to carry her off. "Let's explore! Have you ever been on the roof?"

"So what's next?" Surya asked.

"Oh, I am so glad you asked little one. Let me tell you about...."

"Nate" Alessandra said gently in my head "Come quickly. The smaller egg has begun to crack."

"Allie! I cried, bounding for the exit. I'm on the wing!" I called, taking off and asking for one of the others to tend the young. Before I could finish I felt a poke on my shoulder and I craned my head back to look. The sight that awaited me was all three of those same precious young staring back at me hopefully.

"We want to watch! We like meeting new friends!" Sekhmet cried excitedly.

"Allie?"

".......it will be good for them" she acquiesced.

"The young are with me instead. If you come for them please do it silently. They are outside my nest." I sent out as I continued my rapid pace showing Mazu and the rest what speed really meant. I skid to a halt carving long furrows in the dirt outside the earthen structure of our nest, dumping the little ones unceremoniously to the ground I scampered inside in a blur.

Only to stop and have my heart break upon seeing a little green and brown dragonet among the ruins of a shell and being licked clean by Allie. Completely shattered, I collapsed to the ground and began to sob "My dear, oh my dear, I missed our....."

"Stop" she said imploringly. Looking at me, reptilian eyes glowing with the light of blissful love, she continued by whispering "what's important is that you are here now, with me, to meet our son."

Quieting my snuffling but letting my tears flow unchecked, I crept forward with head bowed to do just that. "Hello, my little one"

"Hello! Are you my father? I'd like that!" he squeaked, looking up at me with eyes the color of moss.

"I'd like that too" I said crying and nuzzling him at the same time.

"Mother said you'd name me. Can you please?"

"Apollo. Your name is Apollo, for you will help to heal and guide all whom you touch."

"I am the one to lead the way." He said thoughtfully. "Hey!" he then exclaimed. "Is this where my sister is? We've been humming to each other all this time! We've know each other since we could!" He had turned and laid his paw on his twin egg. Where he had touched the egg, it immediately began to crack. "Oh, good! She said she'd be here soon!"

"How do you know....?"

Glancing in confusion at Allie she said "Sometimes I thought I felt a buzzing or vibration but it was so faint I believed I was imagining it."

Abruptly the egg fell over with the top third popping off like a cork and a yellow blur shot out streaking towards Apollo shouting "Brother!" Almost too quick for even me to see the little female bowled her older brother over with her larger mass and tumbling they both began to wrap themselves around each other in happiness. "It's you" they both sang.

I circled around to stand by my Allie. Noticing for the first time the three tagalongs watching with glimmering emotional eyes and sniffing silently from the entryway, I nodded to them and sent; "Please let us have this memory. You may watch, learn, and remember, but I beg you to do so quietly. This moment will come to you as well one day and I hope it is as sacred to you as it is to me, Alessandra, and our children."

Weeping and clutching each other with their own overwhelmed feelings, all three bobbed their heads in silent agreement.

Once again by my mate's side, together we lowered both heads sharing in our tearful gratitude for the beautiful youth before us. Apollo with green scales and a brown belly measuring a meter and a third long. He inherited my horns, I thought, he also had a series of quills sprouting at random the length of his back and tail which ended with a long thin rapier like spine on his tail tip.

The female, a golden yellow with a light brown underside and a trio of white spikes pointed slightly backwards from the center of her head. Complementing the spikes on her head she also had sets of three shorter spikes descending the length of her spine, ending with a crescent shaped tail tip. She also was one and a third meters in length but slightly taller and with a much thicker and stronger neck and tail than Apollo.

"What's my name?" Chirped the larger female bounding over, looking back and forth at us both with eyes a shade of blue so deep that I immediately fell head, wings, and tail into them.

Alessandra responded happily while cleaning her "You, who shines forth upon the path. The moon in my sky. My huntress. You are Diana".

Bobbing her head happily she then declared "I am the light that guides those that lead!" and then turned back to her twin. "Apollo I see you!" she called, tail tip whistling through the air in her excitement.

Jumping up and down he responded "Diana I see you!"

Then, as one, they ran to each other, holding their brows against each other's for several moments and wrapping their wings about their twin. With an air of resolution they then turned to bury their snouts against our breasts.

With a single overlapping declaration they spoke; "We decided we love you mother and father! Are we a family now?"

Snuffling, Alessandra and I drew ourselves and our newborns closer together and with one voice, we all whispered the same word to each other over and over. "Forever"

Author's Notes: Well there it is. The first story set in my world of Prithvi. The sequel is about 70% done. However, I offer no promises on my update schedule. Erratic is the best way to describe my writing progress. But when it is ready it will be somewhere in the neighborhood of 40-50k words. It will also greatly expand on the characters introduced here. Lastly it will not be in this weird format that I tried for giggles. The whole journal/log thing was really an experiment on my part.

The reactions of the characters in this story looking back at it really struck me as unreasonable in a number of ways. It seems like more of the bland nonchalant fatalism that you can find in some transformation stories (i.e. Oh, I'm turning into xyz? Oh well. No big deal. What's for breakfast. etc, etc.) I am actively trying to make them seem more nuanced in the next chapters in this world however.

Thanks again, for reading along. I hope you enjoyed your introduction to Prithvi.
