One of my first published poems simply informing the reader to embrace who they are, whatever that might be.
There Be Dragons

A secret you keep tucked under your bed,
Hiding it well for exposure you dread,
You dare not reveal the contents of your heart,
Or family and friends may all soon depart,
But the world in your mind is uncharted and vast,
There be dragons within so lower the mast,
You sail through your soul; search near and far,
Coming to terms with the person you are,
I understand why you are hiding within,
But lying to yourself is also a sin,
Admitting to others could cause you much strife,
But your only concern should be living your life,
It's not for another to tell you what's right,
They'll spoon feed you lies and hope you won't fight,
Cast off their chains; to yourself please be true,
If you hide from yourself you will always be blue.
