The young wolf sighed as he looked at the sunset, he tossed his beer can aside and walked towards the water, stripping off his t-shirt and flip-flops. Living in Hawaii was not always comfortable, let alone cool. This summer had been one of the hottest to date. most furs were advised to stay indoors and leave the air conditioning on full, most did, some went to visit family across the seas, but when you don't have the money to pay for such luxuries, and your family wants nothing to do with you, the beach was the best option. He never was a good swimmer, Most of his visits to the community pool ended with him flopping around like a fish on land, with lifeguards worried about him drowning on their watch. The relative safety of the pool was not available at this hour however, As he started to wade into the water the scent of seawater drifted into his nose, it brought him some faint comfort recalling his childhood. His father didn't always have the best temper especially when liquor was involved. His mother always protected him even if it resulted in bruises to hide the next day at work. Sometimes when it got bad she brought him to this beach until his father fell asleep or calmed down. Suddenly a cold wave splashed against him breaking him from his memories, He came out of his trance realizing he was farther from shore than he would have liked, caught in a current towards the endless sea.

This was not good, he started to panic frantically trying to get to shore but the current was too strong, fighting only tired him out faster as cold water continued to splash onto him, he kept fighting as the sun went down, turning the water from a warm orange glow to a dark and unforgiving blue. As he felt his last shreds of strength drift away he gave up, deciding to go out with dignity as any wolf would want, letting darkness engulf him...

With a great burst of energy he threw up everything in his lungs, sputtering and shivering. Staring up at the dark sky, lying on the beach with a flashlight shining in his eyes. Every bit of him was sore and cold. He heard an angelic sounding voice "easy, just breath, you were out for a while." his ears swiveled towards the voice, eyes slowly following. He stared upwards towards his savior, an otter smiling down on him, "you okay? You're lucky you know. If i hadn't seen you, you would have drowned for sure.". He did not know how to reply so he just smiled, "come on lets get you to my car and warm you up.". As she helped him up and let him lean on her she took him towards her car. "My name is Holly, What's yours?" he replied briefly, "John"
