We Meet Again

--

Tabor's eyes slid open, everything was blurry at first. A prime cliché of films when a victim wakes up after losing consciences. He had heard of such a thing, a film, were moving pictures displayed a life of someone else. But he never had gotten to see such a thing in his life, its funny how such a thing occurred into his mind.

His eyes slowly adjusted to his surroundings. He was in a bed, red blankets covered him snugly to his chin. They were so tightly woven around his body that his arms were practically immovable. But it wasn't uncomfortable, in fact it made his heart feel warm. Beyond the bed was an ordinary room, white walls, dressers, red carpet, and pictures. To the right was a vanity desk. It was bare and slightly dusty with a mirror that obviously hadn't been used in a while. There the dust was so thick not even light shown through to the other side. To the left was a door adjacent to a small sliding door closet.

Among the dressers were pictures, the pictures resembled a familiar looking lab and a white fox enjoying each other's company. The room was well lighted but it had a smell of rotted dust. It was a pretty dense smell, every wiff of air felt like a brick wall. Then a tiny particle hit just right.

Tabor let out a loud sneeze to break the grim silence of the room, at first he had scared himself, causing him to breathe in more and let out another sneeze. Then the room became silent again. Though this time it had an eerie feeling to it. As if the room and the hallways and other rooms had tried to listen in on the new sound. Then the rapid pounding of feet in motion, it sounded as though coming up stairs behind Tabor, below. Then they pounded at what Tabor guessed to be a hallway. They grew closer and more rapid as they ascended another flight of stairs. Tabor's heart matched the irregular rhythm of the scattering feet coming to find him. Then they drew nearer and nearer to the door and then, everything was still. Tabor held his breathe afraid to let out even the smallest of sounds. Then slowly the handle turned, and the door creaked slowly, the suspense gnawed at Tabor's nerves, and he slammed his eyes shut tightly.

"...Tabor?...." a weak voice called out. It was so weak that the emptiness almost over powered it. But it was still heard, and very distinct.

"Samantha?" Tabor whispered in reply.

"TABOR!" the roaring sound nearly rattled all the dust off the furniture, as Samantha pounced onto Tabor.

A sharp pain curled through his body has he felt Samantha's weight, and he yelped out it pain.

Almost as if Samantha had the power to levitate she quickly jumped back off the bed without even pushing back on it. A joyous smile filled her muzzle and tears the size of hard candy's rolled down her face.

"I-I didn't think you.... were ever going to.... wake up...." she choked out.

"What happened?" Tabor managed to guide his arm out of the now un-tucked blankets and he began to rub his head.

Samantha's face drew serious, "You really don't remember?"

"No.." Tabor replied looking dazed.

"In the sewers, there was a bear-"

Then hit him, the brutal breeding he received from the large bear. The painful tearing of his rear-end... and the blood... the blood that had leaked from his own body.

"You have been sleeping for almost three days" Samantha announced in a low voice, it was easy to tell her heart was heavy from worry.

"When I woke up, the bear had already left and you were just there... lying face down in the water" tears formed again. "I didn't know how long you had been like that, so I thought you were already dead" she added a long pause... "Then you spoke, you said a name I had never heard before... but I couldn't quite make it out." her words faded.

"Where are we?" Tabor asked

Footsteps appeared at the door way and both Samantha and Tabor looked to the direction of the door.

"You are home..." said a tall masculine lab leaning against the door frame, smoking a cigarette.

There was something cool about him. The way he stood, the way he peered into Tabor's eyes, he could have stopped his heart.

"I.... I know you.." Tabor said, as he racked his brain trying to remember where.

The lab smiled smugly. "I was hoping you did" he said as he drew him self closer into the room, flicking his cigarette out of a window just above Tabor's head.

"Samantha... could you excuse us?" Tabor forcefully tried to say but only became a whisper.

"excuse me? " Samantha said with a bit of attitude.

"I waited three days worrying about your well being and-"

She stopped as she watched the two stare at each other. Tabor's jaw dropped open a little bit and his eyes grew big as he peered back into the eyes of the lab. The green and blue eyes.

Samantha left the room and smiled as she shut the door behind her.

"Who are you?" Tabor asked has he felt the lab's face.

"I am Verrill" (Loyal and masculine.) "and I have loved you since before your birth"

Tabor printed a confused expression upon his face.

"We used to be lovers... we were still only pups then but we had more love then anyone in the world but our time together grew short as you were taken from me...."

"how could that be possible, I mean I recognize your face... but you were in my dreams... you were always in my dreams" Tabor said never letting his gaze drop from those beautiful eyes.

The lab drew close to Tabor's ear, "reincarnation is the cycle of unfinished life"

"you see when some one is unwillingly taken from this world, they must be reborn, however the catch is.... That they are born with out a name... at least that is the conclusion I have drawn... "

"well even if this is true how can you prove to me that I am who you say I am?" Tabor replied.

Verrill took Tabor's paw and placed it on his chest near his heart, he then took his own hand and placed it in an identical location on Tabor's chest.

"can you feel that irregular heart beat? One in every 5million have this condition, and you have it too. Not only this but they are synced, just like Nasrin and I, and that my dear no one else has"

Tabor could feel Verrill's heart beat... and it did sync into his!

"if that is not enough to convince you..." Verrill lifted him self away and retrieved a picture form a near by dresser, he cleaned the dust off as he walked back over to Tabor.

"then seeing should be believing"

It was a picture of a white fox and what appeared to be a younger version of Verrill.

"I don't understand.." said Tabor as his eyes sunk to the corner of his eyes.

"Would this help?" Verrill walked over to the vanity and took a small hand mirror out of one of the drawers. He held it up to Tabor's face and in his reflection he saw a familiar looking white - fox.

thank you for reading and the next chapter should be alot more interesting than this piece
