Kaiju on Macro Action

Lethias reclined on the picnic blanket with his head resting on his hands, staring at the clear blue sky as his mate Minnigan rested on his belly. The day was perfect for the both of them, as it was one of those rare days when they both were off work with no obligations to keep them preoccupied or distract them from the bliss they had worked so hard to attain.

There were no card game tournaments for Lethias to train for, no meals needing to be made by Minnigan, and both of their phones were off so that neither of their places of work could call them in for emergency shifts or clients. It was just them, the green plains south of town, their blanket, and their picnic basket, and the skies above. They were going for an old-fashioned picnic, a lost art.

"You know what I see in the clouds?" Minnigan asked as he nestled up to Lethias, grabbing the dragon's well muscled arm to wrap it around him. "Potential. Not just in you, but in the day. We have ahead of us a blank slate, with unending options for how we spend it." An innocent mindset unaware of the world around them conspiring to ruin their day.

He gave his mate a squeeze and smiled, his ear frills twitching gently. "How about for today, we do absolutely nothing. Just once, I'd love to get away from it all and not worry about a thing." He reached out and grabbed the picnic basket, flipping the lid as he grabbed for a sandwich. Minnigan had made the lunch, since he had some cool ideas about how to make a sandwich. There were a few kaiser buns with deli meats and slices of cheese, sauces on the side, and a few potions - just in case. He pulled out one of the buns and took a big bite, not bothering with the sauces.

"How is it, hon?" Minnigan asked, curious about his deli sandwich artistry.

Lethias raised a finger as he chewed, not wanting to speak with his mouth full. Once he swallowed, he smiled and nodded. "Wonderful, as expected. Where'd you get the ham? It's different from what we normally have."

Minnigan beamed, proud that Lethias had noticed. "It's got a special honey glaze, perfect for sub sandwiches. Adapted it and grilled it up a bit before we left, caramelizing the edges and giving it a bit of a crunch. Is it good?"

"Husband, everything you do is great." Lethias said with a low rumbling purr and a hug.

"Aww, thanks! But I mean this thing in particular. How is it? Is it better than our usual?"

"I might need to take another bite. Another sample." He chomped down on the bun once again, this time savoring the subtle crunch of the caramelized honey glazed ham. After savoring the flavors while Minnigan watched idly by, he eventually smiled and licked his chops. "Yep, it's pretty good, so good that I might have to eat yours, too."

Minnigan raised an eyebrow. "If you're that hungry, I guess I could share."

"I'm kidding. I'm not going to take your sandwich, but it is delicious. How many did you pack?" He leaned over again to the picnic basket only to be interrupted by the distant roaring of a beast cresting the horizon.

Both of them turned to look and saw a kaiju-sized fox moth, quadruped with gossamer wings wings a thick tail that functioned as a thorax. She had a thick white mane, two toned gray fur, and long orange antennae that were twitching with her every jerky motion. She seemed on edge, worried and hyper-alert while also seeming somewhat distracted and aloof.

Lethias knew what he had to do. The city between them was in danger and he had been practicing his growth powers ever since Ceylon and Minnigan had perfected the potion and runes to control his size.

Minnigan gave a stern glance as he reached into the picnic basket, heroically pulling out one of the vials of blue potion with a glowing green rune on the side. "Do your thing!" He said, a sudden and sharp sense of seriousness overcoming them as an orange and yellow background flashed behind him. "Go, save the city! Only you have the power!" As he spoke his lips moved without matching his words.

The two shared a stare-down opposite one another, a burst of light connecting their eyes as Lethias dramatically grabbed the vial and downed it as words describing his gulps trickled out from his neck and belly. Within seconds, he tossed the vial to the side as he flexed every muscle in his body, a spiky yellow aura bursting from his body in every direction, eyes turning teal for a moment before returning to his more natural yellow.

Seconds later, his body started to expand all at once, with his chest bulging and scales jutting out to make room for his added girth while his stance widened and every dimension on his body multiplied twofold, growing exponentially until he was his desired size standing tall in the foothills of the grass fields surrounding the city. Once he had reached his maximum size - easily thrice as tall as the tallest building - he scooped Minnigan up and placed him on one of those tall buildings.

"You can do it, babe!" Minnigan called out from his new vantage point, encouraging his mate to protect the city.

Meanwhile, the kaiju fox-moth got into a defensive stance as she noticed his body's sudden growth spurt. Like him she was ready for a fight and prepared to get violent if the situation called for it.

Both of them growled loudly as their eyes met in an epic, city-spanning stare down, their vocals rumbling the windows of every building between them. Lethias raised a fist and flexed his mucles as the Kaiju widened her stance and flared out her neck fluff to look bigger and more intimidating.

In a sudden display of power and shocking agility, both of them leapt into the sky above the city as bolts of yellow lightning crashed behind them, turning the entire sky a buttery orange mixed with various sparkles and slashes in the air. Their wings carried them high, safe from the city below them as they met in the sky, tackling one another as they spun and rose higher and higher until Lethias caught his wing on her tail, causing them both to fall to the ground while both being careful to angle themselves in such a way that they landed in the empty fields outside of town instead of the city.

There, both expected the other to go for a killing blow, but neither moved. Lethias was under the fox-moth, claws out and teeth bared as she snarled over top of him, eyes narrowed.

An insurmountably awkward moment of time passed as they stared each other down, squiggly lines of confusion and uncertainty emanating from both of them as they tried to figure each other out.

Then, after what seemed like more than enough time to easily kill one another, Foxra's expression softened and cute little heart-bubbles billowed out of her as she smiled, a deep buzzing coming from within her chest and antenna twitching happily. She purred and leaned into him to nuzzle at his neck and chest, having sensed that he was defending the city as much as she was.

It didn't take long at all for Lethias to return her affection, petting her neck and antennae while glancing over at Minnigan as if to ask if he knew what was going on. Minnigan only shrugged as a comically oversized sweat drop popped up next to him beside the building he was on.

"So you're one of the protectors of this city?" The kaiju asked. "My name's Foxra! Pleasure to meet you!"

Having finally grown certain of his adversary's unwillingness to fight, Lethias countered by sharing his name as well and the two of them cuddled together overlooking the city they had both tried to protect from the other.

While they cuddled and purred and rumbled happily, Lethias picked Minnigan up off the nearest building to place him on his pectoral muscle, that way he could also be cuddled and licked and nuzzled by the Kaiju known as Foxra. Together, they shared tales of their past, the histories that brought them both together, and their allies.

As it turned out, the one linking factor between them was Ceylon, who was a friend of both Lethias and Foxra. She had brought them together by accident thanks to the energies felt throughout the City. Their encounter also served as a wonderful way to prove to one another and the city they protected that sometimes it was better to ask questions first rather than resort to violence. Had they engaged in a fight for longer than that initial aerial tackle, there might have been damage to the city!

Luckily, both wanted peace and harmony between normal sized folk and themselves. Though Lethias was a touch disappointed he didn't get to show off how strong and valiant he was, in the end he was relieved to see that no violence needed to occur.

Though, the city did get to see a brief bit of Kaiju on Macro action!
