Sorry for the major delay. Life and school kept throwing things in my face and I only had enough time to get this story down on paper while i rode the train home. But now that's changed. I got two weeks off and I'm ready to get back in the typing groove. This chapter is short compared to my previous chapters. I apologize if this is not as good as the others, but I felt I had to submit a decent chapter for you guys. The next chapter will be better, so look forward to that. As always; comments and votes are welcome and appreciated. Enjoy! ^_^

Eevee, Mia and the other little pokémon were walking in the caves of Mt.Coronet. The path they were taking would lead them to the other side of the mountain. The cave itself wasn't all that bad. The rocky floor you would expect was almost smooth, with the occasional tiny rock you never saw coming till you stepped on it. The walls were also smooth for the most part. Water was coming through some of the cracks in the walls, making little streams of drinkable water in case they got thirsty. They were following a map that was given to them by Jasmine and Sophia, along with a small backpack with enough berries to last them a couple of days. The map led to the other side of the mountain, where they would start their new lives together.

Before they had parted ways with Jasmine, they learned that she's a gym leader from the Johto region and that Sophia wasn't really her daughter, but her little sister. They came to this region to look for more steel type pokémon and to train. It wasn't until they heard about Team Galactic they put their efforts in saving pokémon from their evil hands. Once they escaped the headquarters of team Galactic, they retreated into caves of Mt.Coronet.

Flashback

They entered Mt.Coronetand are waiting for metagross to return with Nina. After a few minutes, there was a light and they heard a small crackle and pop behind them. Everyone turned around to see metagross, Nina, and a gallade holding an egg appear before them.

"Metagross, you came back." Sophia and Jasmine said as they ran up and gave him a hug.

"Nina!" The smaller pokémon shouted as they too ran up to hug her. Everyone was happy that they returned safely. Jasmine released her hug on metagross and looked at the gallade.

"Thank you very much for bringing them back safely." She said with a smile.

"No, it is I who should be thanking you. Because of you all, I was able to reunite with my child." The gallade replied.

"Actually, it was because of her that we even knew about your egg." She said pointing to Nina.

The gallade turned to Nina, who was released from her group hug. "Thank you little one for giving me the chance to save my child. I'm very grateful."

"It was nothing. I...just didn't want you to be sad like my parents were when I was taken." She responded. The gallade got down on one knee and rubbed Nina's head.

"Regardless of your reasons, you did something today that I'll always remember as the best second chance at a family I'll ever get." Nina blushed at the comment and everyone nodded in agreement.

"You're welcome." She said shyly.

The gallade got up and turned to Jasmine and Sopia. "I must leave now and return to my mate. She's most likely worried sick about us."

"We understand; just watch out for more of those guys when you go back home." Sophia said. Gallade nodded.

"I will. Thank you again." With that said, his body glowed bright for a moment, and with a small pop, he and the egg disappeared.

After a moment of silence, Sophia went to some nearby rocks and pushed some of them away. She pulled out a small, yellow backpack. She came back and handed the backpack to Mia, since she was the only one out of the group of pokémon who could wear it comfortably.

"This bag has enough berries to last you all a couple days, but if you follow the map inside you should be out of here by nightfall. It shouldn't be too hard to follow." Sophia said. "We have to get back and continue our undercover work, so we have to leave now."

Jasmine came forward and got down on one knee to talk directly to Eevee and Mia. "I'm sure you don't need to be told this, but you two have to be the leaders here. You have to protect and lead them from here on out. You understand?" Eevee and Mia nodded. "Good." She got up and turned to her sister. "Let's hurry back before they notice we're gone."

"All right, but don't slow me down like you did last time." Sophia replied. With that, everyone said their good-byes and went their separate ways.

End Flashback

"Eevee, when are we gonna get out of here?" Tammy whined.

"We're supposed be out by nightfall, so it'll be a while before we reach the end." Eevee responded.

"Can we take a break then? My feet are starting to hurt and I'm getting hungry."

Eevee thought about her suggestion. They had been walking for a few hours and since they were still children, they couldn't travel as long as he or Mia. "Is anybody else hungry?" Eevee asked the group. They all whined different answers, but it was mostly yes. "Okay we'll take a break and eat." Everyone except for Mia and Eevee collapsed on the ground letting out sighs of relief. "Were you guys that tired?" Eevee asked.

"Yes." They said in unison.

"Why didn't you say anything?"

"I don't know about them... but I didn't want...to slow us down." Kai said panting.

Eevee shook his head. "There's no need to worry about stuff like that. We're traveling together so if you get tired let me know so we can rest."

"By me, you actually meant both of us right?" Mia said as she passed some oranberries to the tired bunch. "Uh, yeah, I meant one of us." Eevee corrected himself.

After the berries were passed out, everyone began eating and recovering their strength.

"Psst, Eevee, I need to talk to you about something." Mia whispered before she walked a little ways from the group so they were out of earshot, but could still see them. Eevee got up and followed her.

"What's up?" he asked once he caught up.

"I've been thinking... where are we going from here? I mean, after we get out of this cave, where do we go?"

The question had Eevee stumped. "I don't know. I haven't given it any thought." He responded.

There was a moment of silence while they were thinking. 'Where are we going? I can't believe I never thought about where we should be going. Some leader I am.' Eevee thought.

The sound of laughter filled the cave walls, breaking him from his train of thoughts. He looked at the children and smiled at their happy faces. It was then he thought about Eric, his trainer, and how much he missed him. He started thinking about his home and friends. He missed that feeling of warmth that came with being around others that really cared about you. His mind began to drift back in time to when he was with his parents. He couldn't help but smile wider as he remembered the good times he had with them.

"Eevee?" He snapped out his trance and blinked a couple times.

"W-what?" he asked confused. "I asked why you were smiling so much." Mia said looking at him with a puzzled face.

"Oh, um..." Eevee went back to what he thinking about. Then it hit him. "What if we take them back to their homes. We can just travel around and, with any luck, they can recognize the area they grew up in. Then we can go look for our trainers."

"That's a great idea!" Mia shouted excitedly, catching the attention of the others.

"What's a great idea?" Kai asked.

Eevee and Mia turned to them, realizing that they heard Mia.

"We've decided that we're going to take you all back to your homes as soon as we get out of here." She said with the same enthusiasm.

"Whaa?!" they all said in unison. Neither of them could believe what they just heard. They were going home. The young pokémon jumped up and danced around in circles. Eventually Mia and Eevee joined them in their celebration and they all had a little party.

With newfound vigor, the group of traveling pokémon continued their way through the cave and in just a few hours, made it out in less time than they thought they would. Once outside, they squint their eyes to the setting sun and took a deep breath of fresh air. The sun was setting behind a forest, and just beyond that, they could make out a small town that wasn't too far away.

"This breeze feels really good." Nina said enjoying the cool evening air.

"Sure does." Kai replied.

"Come guys, we can't rest yet. We gotta find a place to sleep for the night." Eevee said.

They nodded in agreement and followed him to a suitable resting place in the forest. There they made a small fire, ate their fill of berries and drifted off to sleep. Just before he went to sleep, Kai sensed someone's presence. Whoever it was, they kept themselves hidden the entire time he was fighting his urge to sleep. It felt like his presence alone was disturbing and a little frightening at the same time. He wanted to call out to someone, but sleep took over as he was getting the words out.

**********8**********

Morning came quickly for the group. The sun hadn't risen above the height of the trees and the sky had that early morning bluish, yellow-orange color to it. There was fog in the forest, but not nearly enough to obscure their vision. Wild pokémon were slowly stirring from their sleep. Mia was the first to awake from her sleep. She sat up and stretched, letting out a big yawn and rubbing the sleep from her eyes. She looked around and saw that she was the first one up.

"I guess I should get started making breakfast. I wonder if there's a river near here to catch some fish." She thought. The thought of having something other than berries and dry pokémon food was making her hungry. She reached to her right to grab the backpack. Nothing. She tried again with her left side. Nothing. Her heart sank and panic began to take over her body. "No way!"she thought as she began to frantically searching the yellow backpack. She checked behind the nearby trees and bushes. "It was just here last night! There's no way I misplaced it because I was using it as a pillow." Mia checked where she was sleeping again and was suddenly stricken with anger when she realized what she was sleeping on. A bundle of leaves wrapped up in a blanket. "AAARRRGGG!!!"

Her scream of rage woke up and startled Eevee and the rest of the pokémon. Perry was rolled up into his ball form, Kai and Nina jumped up and took a defensive stance, while looking around for intruders, and the twins were holding each other.

"W-what's going on!?" Eevee stuttered. His heart was racing like it never has before, almost like he ran a marathon.

"Someone stole our bag of food!" She shouted angrily.

"Someone took our food!?"

"Yeah! When I find the sneak who did this, they're gonna pay." While Mia was ranting to herself, Kai went over to the blanket and started sniffing it.

'Hmm... leaves... Mia... And someone else.' Kai thought as he sniffed the blanket. He then searched the air for the unfamiliar scent of another pokémon. Eevee noticed that Kai was looking for something.

"What are doing Kai?" Eevee asked.

"I'm trying to find the scent of the culprit. There was someone watching us last night and I think whoever they were took the bag."

"Someone was watching us? Why didn't you say anything?"

"I...fell asleep when I realized they were there." Kai replied with a blush. By this time, Perry, Mia, Nina, and the twins had calmed down. Kai continued sniffing the air and the surrounding bushes.

"Find anything yet?" Eevee asked.

"No, not ye-wait a sec." Kai sniffed intensely at a bush. "I found it! They went this way." Kai said as he took off following the scent.

"Wait up!" Mia shouted following after Kai. Eevee and the others were left in the dust.

"Come on you guys. We'd better catch up." With that said, the twins got on the backs of Eevee and Nina, since they couldn't run as fast them, Perry rolled up into a ball, and they chased after the rest of the team.

They soon caught up with Kai and Mia and it seemed that the scent Kai was following was led them to the nearby town. The town was a small, about the same size as Twinleaf town, and the residents were mostly elderly people. Apparently, the calm atmosphere by Mt. coronet was just what retired people wanted after a stressful life. There weren't any noticeable shops in town, but there was a pokémon center, so that meant trainers would come through sometimes. At the center town, there's a cave that seemed to have no trouble supporting the few houses that were situated on top of it. It was still pretty early in the morning, so not many people were up. The few that were up were doing exercises and were surprised to see a group of pokémon running through town.

Eventually they came to a stop in front of a small shop no bigger than the pokémon center. It had a huge glass window in front so you could see the inside and the items that were on sale. Kai began sniffing the air again and let out a low growl. He felt the same disturbing presence he did last night.

"They're inside." He said. Mia went for the door to open it, but then it suddenly swung open and hit her in the face. She fell backwards on her rear.

"You okay?" Eevee asked.

"Yeah, I guess." She replied rubbing her injured nose. "Jeez, why don't you watch where you're going?!" she shouted at whoever opened the door.

When whoever opened the door finally came out from the shop, they were surprised that it was a treeko, but even more shocked that it had their backpack slung over its shoulders.

"I think you should be the one who needs to look where they're going." The treeko said. Judging from its voice, it was male. He looked at them closely. "Haven't I seen you guys somewhere before?" Kai was the first to speak up.

"Yeah, you met us before. You're the one who stole our bag!"

The treeko blinked a couple times and looked at the backpack he was holding for a few seconds before turning back to them. "Nope. It's mine." He said simply.

Mia stood back up and got in his face. "It's not yours, it's ours! Now give it back!" she shouted.

"But I found it."

"You stole it!"

"No I didn't. I found it hiding under your head while you were sleeping." He said grinning as he lifted the bag over his head in front of his face. "It spoke to me last night. It said: "_Please take somewhere far away from this ugly buizel. I can't stand being here anymore. She abuses me everyday to no end. _"Being the gentleman I am, I rescued it from certain doom. It threatened to kill itself if I didn't take it away from you."

Eevee and the others couldn't believe what he just said. They almost couldn't tell if he was being serious or just finding an excuse for what he did.

"You idiot! We're not gonna believe your stupid story!" Mia shouted. The treeko looked at her disappointedly.

"Really? I thought it would be a convincing one too."

Before she could say anything, there came a yell from inside the shop.

"Uh oh." The treeko said in low voice. An old man with a broom came to the door looking really angry. He looked down and saw treeko with a group of pokémon.

"You came with friends this time did you?! I'll make sure you never see the inside of this shop again you little sneak!" The old man lifted the broom over his head and brought it down fast. Treeko and Mia jumped out of the way of his first swing.

"We're not with him!" Mia tried to explain to the enraged old man, but including the fact that he doesn't understand her, he wasn't really listening to her anyway. He swung at her along with Eevee and the others on his second swing. They dodged it.

"I think we better get out of here!" Eevee exclaimed. "Let's get back to camp." Mia and the younger pokémon followed Eevee away from the old man into the forest. Unfortunately for them, the old man chased them into the forest.

"What are we gonna do about that old guy?" Kato said looking behind him.

"Why don't you guys split up? You'd have a much better chance at losing him if you did, cuz that old man is pretty persistent."

Everyone looked around to see where the familiar voice came from. Leaping from tree to tree, they spotted the tree lizard.

"Why should we listen to you?" Mia asked in an irritated tone.

"I don't know, but seeing as I've been around this part of the world longer than you have, I think that entitles me to give foreigners some advice to survive around here." he replied in a superior tone.

"What if we don't want to do what you say?"

"Then I guess you'll have to deal with that old man for a while. Despite his old age, he still has plenty of energy to burn. He once chased me for a whole hour a while ago." he replied grinning.

Mia tried to think of an argument but failed. They couldn't attack him because he'll probably have a heart attack if they did, or go to the police and have them search the area for "dangerous pokémon".

"...Fine, we'll do it." She mumbled.

"What's that?! I can't hear you over the yelling that old guy's doing!" the treeko said tauntingly.

"I said fine!" Mia shouted.

"Are you sure you want to do that? We don't know this area very well." Eevee warned.

"Not really, but do we really have a choice?" Eevee shook his head.

"No, I guess not. I don't wanna have that old guy tailing us all day." He turned his head to face the younger pokémon. "We're gonna have to split up if we're gonna lose this guy. Perry, I want you to take the twins with you. Kai, you come with me and Mia."

"B-but, how will we get back to camp?" Perry stuttered.

"Just keep heading toward the mountain. Stay at the campsite until everyone meets back up, okay?"

Perry hesitated before nodding. "Alright then, everyone move out."

The group of six, and the treeko, split into two different directions. Nina panicked and tried to figure out which way to go.

"Hey! You forgot about me!!!"
