Chapter 2

Infinity fought the giggles that spread down her throat as Cordenth and Lyyreth finished telling Amatae their titles. They had seemed to proud to announce theirs were the Viridian Knight and the other the Radiant Star. Least hers was rather simple and to the point. The lime green of Lyyreth's frills had started to shift and change until they were as dark as the forest's trees as he tilted his snout towards the little girl.

"Where is your village young one?" Lyyreth asked, looking up into the blue sky, his tail swishing slowly behind him.

"I'm not that young!" She shot back, folding her arms. "I'm almost fifty!"

There was a heavy silence in the air as Infinity tilted her head to the side. Confusion wrapped itself around her like a cloak as she pondered Amatae's words. How could a little thing that be fifty? She wasn't even as tall as Axton! "Wh-."

"Yes, but where is your village Amatae." Cordenth slunk his head closer. "We can have this little chat about proper ages later."

Her arms sagged slightly before she gestured with her neck. Her voice lowered as her eyes drooped. "It's back along the road aways. Few days by horseback."

"Should get started then if we want to get rid of such a horrible thing." Infinity held out her paws, gesturing to the the elf, whose eyes widened at the gesture.

"Y-You're going to fly me there?" She stuttered, her eyes locking onto Infinitie's outstretched forelimb.

"I don't suppose you expected us to walk places?" She chuckled softly, spreading out one of her wings and tilting her head to poke at it. "We do have these wing things of ours. It's much faster than a horse's hooves."

"Don't worry Amatae." Lyyreth smiled warmly, "She is a really gentle flier. You'll be very safe within her claws."

"It is as he says little one. I will fly as though you were a little wyrmling, you needn't fear the sky." Infinity softened her voice, hoping to quell the fear still lingering on the child's face.

The little elf's eyes drifted to the dead bodies around her, a moment passing as she took a deep breath. Her gaze shifted back to Infinity, holding her hand out to brush her fingers along the dragoness' scales. Her expression warmed, the moment of fear flowing off her like water.

Swooshes filled the air as Cordenth and Lyyreth spread their wings in unison, bounding into the sky with mighty flaps that kicked up dirt and battered grass with wind.

Infinity snatched the girl, pulling her close against her chest with one forelimb. She wiggled her spade tail, setting her sight onto the green dragon's just cresting over the canopy and into the cloud dotted cerulean expanse. With a small gasp from the elf she sprang into the air like a loosed arrow, easily carrying them through the trees and into the skies above. Infinity overtook the greens flying next to one another, Amatae saying nothing but pointing out with her fingers to trace the road before them. The dragoness spread her wings wide, letting the currents carry them along the path.

They traveled for several hours, until the golden sun had began to creep it's way down towards the horizon's edge. The reds and orange beams spreading out to the sky and casting a warm and inviting glow. Cordenth shouted out that there was a clearing that he could see. The scarf wearing green descended with a dipped wing. Infinity and Lyyreth following right on his tail.

She landed awkwardly on three limbs in a great field surrounded by a ring of trees. Small rocks littered the area covered in thin layers of green moss. She felt Amatae shiver within her grasp as a breeze wrapped itself around them and pricked her scales. With a soft drop the little elf was set down onto the grass, Infinity settling onto all fours as she swished her neck around, scanning for any sign of danger. She sniffed around as the other's landed, joining in her search for anything that could hurt the little exposed mortal. With nothing found they returned to her, Cordenth looking proud of himself with his scarf fluttering in the wind.

Infinity settled down around Amatae, resting on her side and raising one of her vast wings. She gestured with her snout to the space between her limbs, hoping the girl understood she was offering her warmth to fight off the night's chill. She sighed, a small rumble making its way to her throat as the girl cautiously slunk her way over, and wiggled her way between her forelimbs.Infinity wrapped them both in her wings like a blanket, the little girl's sigh bringing warmth to her heart.

"So you seem to be good with younglings." Lyyreth smiled, circling a few times and eventually settling down around her in a ball. They nodded to Cordenth as he suggested keeping the first watch, to make sure they didn't have any trouble come visit them.

"Mmmhmm." She sighed, peeking down to the little girl who had already closed her eyes and rested her cheek against her scales. It was hard to not remember when a certain blackhaired human with icy blue eyes was in her place. She lowered her head with a yawn, curling her tail around her and letting her heavy eyelids start to drag and pull themselves down. The last thing she remembered before sleep took her into its embrace, was Lyyreth settling his head into his claws and wishing her a good sleep. She only snorted in response, flicking her tail gently across the grass.

*

She rustled as sleep faded from her mind. She creaked open her eyes, the warm, morning sun already starting to shine down on them. She blinked away her grogginess, letting out a long yawn that hung on the air and sounded like a whine. She snapped her jaw several times, wagging her tail over the cool grass. She spied the clearing had remained calm and unspoiled from the previous night, birds chirping found its way to her ears before the little animals flew overhead. Cordenth was sleeping curled up near her, his tail draped over his snout. Lyyreth was settled onto his fours, head up and alert. His eyes were drifting to the treeline or the sky with the occasional flick of his tail. She went to wiggle but remembered the small warm person resting within her limbs. She slowly raised her wing, sneaking a peak to see that the elf had a look of content on her face, her arms wrapped around Infinitie's limbs. The ness smiled, resting her head back to the grass. She let out a pleased snort from her nose, thumping her tail. She didn't dare move much more than that, lest she wake her little cute ward. Part of her told her to wake her, they needed to head out, but with the warmth and fuzzy feeling in her heart she was able to resist the calling.

"How did you sleep?" Lyyreth's voice came in at a whisper as he lowered his head to peak at her with a tilted snout. "Nothing to dreadful right?'

"Good." She coo'd. She didn't remember much of her dream, possibly nothing but a black void as she slumbered. "Nothing to haunt at it." She looked to Amatae stirred with a low grumble, "Looks like she slept nicely as well. Despite all the horribleness of yesterday." With the thought to the dead, a sad smile found its way to her snout.

"She might be a tough one. Must be nice to have someone close to sooth you when you're hurting inside."

"Mmmhmm." She nodded, mind drifting to the night Lyyreth came to her when she hung in a tree.

"It's always nice to see you smile too." He grinned, his frills shifting to that same dark green. He quickly avoided her gaze, rising up to all fours with a lingering groan. He stretched like a cat with his hind end in the air, before stretching his limbs and wings one by one.

"Need any breakfast?" Lyyreth lowered his head, padding over to her with his tail grazing over the blades of grass and smacking aside a flower.

"Too early." She wiggled her digits, a yawn forcing its way passed her teeth.

"Perhaps for you." Lyyreth chuckled, "I can conjure some good berries if you want."

"Berries?" She pulled her head back, sticking out her tongue. "I suppose if you like them have at it. I on the other hand much prefer meat."

"Double for me please." Cordenth mumbled sleepily, almost a whisper.

"See your brother over there gets it." She smiled, enjoying the morning breeze that made the long grass sway in its wake. "I enjoy hunting for my food." She gave him a tooth filled grin, her teeth gleaming in the sunlight.

"That depends if you would rather hunt than return this one home." He nosed the air in Amatae's direction.

She cocked her head to the side, snorting her rebuttal. "I can hunt on the fly you know."

"I guess so." Lyyreth looked away, "Or you can eat one berry and be filled for the day."

"You eat your little berries, I will have actual food." She grumbled, settling her snout into her paws, her tail thumping the ground softly. It was a sudden little yawn that drew her attention. She snapped her attention downwards towards the little elf held within her claws.

Amatae still had her eyes closed, her arms stretched out as far as she could reach. A pleased groan escaped her lips before she cracked open her eyes. They instantly widened to the size of dinner plates as her head drifted to all the dragons around her.

"Morning." She said softly, a glimmer of fear spreading to her face and fading in the blink of an eye.

"Morning." Infinity rumbled, nuzzling the elf's hair.

"I...thought it was a dream for a moment." Her words came slowly, coaxed out by the dragoness' gentle touch. "To be found and saved by dragons...I would have never thought..." She let out a whimper as her hands trembled. Amatae's face started to twist, her eyes begin to mist as a sniff worked its way out. She fought it off with a calming breath and a wipe of her sleeve.

"Nope." Infinity's gaze shifted to the clearing, the green dragons stretching and yawning, and back to the elf as she released her. "Quite real."

Lyyreth muttered some words, his left claw filling with a small pile of bright blue berries with purple spots on their surfaces. He held out his forelimb towards Amatae, gesturing to the pile with his snout. "They're good." He whispered with a smile, eyes on the elf's extended hand.

Amatae snatched up a handful, stuffing the things in her mouth. Her ears twitched, a smile spreading to her face."Mmmmmmm." She clapped her hands together, spinning round on her heel. "Yummy"

Infinity pushed herself off the ground, groaning as she lowered her front. Cracks traveled up her spine, making her shiver and wiggle her digits in delight. She flicked the spines that lined her body, satisfied with leaving them drooped. She sighed, opening her great black wings, and quickly refolding them as she trotted across the field. She breathed in the crisp morning air, letting the smell of oak waft around in her nostrils. Sunlight warmed her scales, almost begging her to roll around in the green grass and let it tease and please her black armor. She gazed down from the vibrant cerulean sky when Amatae came skipping over, holding out a handful of berries for her with a smile.

"Try these Night Rising! They're good!"

"So I have heard." She snorted, watching a pair of purple birds dart from twisting branches to the sky above. "I would ra-"

"But they are good!" Amatae pushed her palms up, her insistence ringing through her words.

Infinity looked down, getting trapped by the cute display. Despite her reluctance she found herself dipping her head closer towards the berries.

"Fine." She rolled her eyes, sniffing at the little blue spheres. They smell sweet, almost too sweet to be simple fruit. They sort of reminded her of the pastries that Axton used to bring during their lunches at the tower. Amatae giggled as Infinity snaked out her tongue, the tip ever so slightly touching a little sphere. She slurped it up, breaking open the single berry with her teeth. The juices spread through her maw, lighting up her senses in fruity pleasuret. She flicked her tail as she swished the juices around, her hunger soon fading away like the morning fog. She gulped it down, disappointed that it took so little to satisfy her. It felt so unnatural, wrong to her very senses. Her scales shivered as she parted her snout and cast Amatae a fake smile.

"Not my favorite, but it will do for now." She bobbed her head, "Thank you little Amatae."

"Welcome!" The elf squeaked, running off towards Cordenth who was doing another round of stretching. "Shining Sun do you want some berries?" She pushed her palms upwards.

"Radiant Star." The dragon groaned, pulling forward and pushing out his right hind. "But yes. I suppose I shall have to do with some." He turned his head, gobbling the berries from the girl like he was an oversized horse.

Infinity chuckled at the display, slipping over to Lyyreth and holding her head high. "I suppose it's time to head out then." "Where too little one?" She asked as the elf came over with a smile.

"Um...We just keep following the road till we get there..." Amatae's smile faded instantly, "It's not rather hard to find." She dropped her left arm, the other one clutching it across her chest. The girl's face fell to look at the ground. "Hopefully he wasn't too angry."

Fire welled it's way into her chest the longer she looked to the shivering girl. That such a dragon should inspire such fear and misery in one so small.

"Are you still sure you want to help us?...Not implying you can't..." Amatae shifted her foot in the ground, eyes still not rising from the grass.

"I'm certain." She offered with a proud snort. "Will take more than one nasty dragon. To make us run away."

"Okay...Good." The girl took a deep breath, raising her head to stare into Infinities eyes with a glint of confidence. "Are...you going to carry me again?"

She nodded, giving the girl a quick smile and nose. "Yep."

"Yay!" The little elf jumped for joy, clapping her hands together. When her feet hit the ground she must have noticed her enthusiasm because she instantly curbed it. "I mean..." She coughed. "Yay."

"Are you ready after that little display?" Infinity chuckled, closing the distance and extending a forelimb carefully. "I have not seen something like that little dance."

"Just...Happy is all. You're flying was rather nice last time." Red grew on the girl's cheeks as she wrapped her arms tightly around the scaled limb and Infinity dragged her close against her chest. "Ready now." The girl breathed.

With the girl held tight in a motherly like gesture Infinity spread her wings. She lowered herself, anticipation hanging right on her tongue as her muscles tensed. The dragoness launched herself into the air, propelling herself above the treetops with powerful beats of her vast star colored wings.

"Wait until Lyndis hears about this." Cordenth grinned from below, his words dripping with pride. "That I helped save a whole village from a dragon tyrant."

She heard Lyyreth join his brother in their laughing as her emerald eyes scanned the countryside below her. She found the road nestled in the forest without any effort, but Amatae seemed insistant to point the way with an extended hand.

"That way!" The girl yelled, as wind battered against them and tickled scales and skin alike.

Infinity swooped across the headwind, the green forest passing quickly below and giving way to clearings of beautiful golden flowers, and lakes of sparkling blue waters. From this distance the sun's rays would catch the surface and glimmer like some treasure waiting to be snatched. Bird's of all kind flew around the tops of the trees, large flocks traveling like swarms of feathers and beaks. Infinity sighed, casting her glance back to the brothers following in her wake.

Some little flight we make.

They followed the road for hours as it wound its way through the forest like a twisted serpent. The worn path eventually breaking free of the sea of trees, and working its way towards a towering mountain on the horizon tipped with grey stone. Amatae had been silent for most of this time, only offering quick adjustments to be made and points with her fingers. Infinity did this rather quickly with dips of her wings, maybe a slight rise and fall. She tried to save her energy for when they were going to really need it.

When we meet this dragon tyrant who thinks it's okay to suddenly murder little girls like this.

The sun thankfully was rather warm, despite their high altitude she felt as though she was sprawled out on the ground and wiggling in the grass. The wind wrapped around them on occasion, whistling through her ears and filling her breaths with the cool air. She rolled her eyes as this entire time Cordenth could not cease his prattling about a half elven woman named Lyndis. The princess he had met in his forest and nearly died protecting. She had remembered mocking him the first few nights of their journey together, how he had fallen for her in a matter of days. "Foolish." She had called with a hoarse laugh, tapping her tail in enjoyment as he had stared at her with a golden fire in his eyes. She would have been worried she had done something wrong until Lyyreth had been poking at him with similar jabs, even poking his growling brother with a talon. Though as she listened in, she imagined it was their way to handle a stressful situation. As she gazed to the nearing mountain she even felt a small tingle spread from her paws to her claws, a voice whispering to her to turn back. She had shaken her head, ears pinned against her head, and worked her way to the next current with wings spread wide into a glide.

From the sea of grass, rocks, and trees came a collection of red-brown buildings risen from the dirt. They seemed to be made from wood with glass windows on their sides. Their roofs were adorned with small perches for animals, and spaced enough so that a dragon could make their way between them. Large purple banners hung overhead from building to building, no doubt in honor of their overlord. She spied small specks that must be the villagers walking around carts filled with wood being pulled by black furred horses.

"DId you ever like any boys?" Amatae suddenly asked as Infinity called out to the other's to pay attention.

"Hmm?" She lowered her neck, curling it around mid flight to cast the girl an inquisitive look with a single eye. "How do you mean?"

The elf laughed and pointed to the now squabbling green dragons flying ever slightly below them.

The brothers were laughing back and forth, Lyyreth pointing to his brother's scarf and letting out a growling chuckle about it not making him look fierce. The attacked green dragon stuck out his tongue, calling him chip and ended it with a smug, tooth filled grin.

"They're bickering and acting like children!"

"A brother thing I suppose." She rolled her eyes, casting her view to the farm fields filled with golden wheat below. They passed over with a steady pace, a farmer in dark brown slacks and an off white shirt sticking his pitchfork into the ground. The man shielded his eyes from the sun and stared in amazement as the three dragon's glode overhead.

"I suppose...Do you have any family?"

"No..." She winced, her father's finals words sinking into her ears. His realization haunting her mind and making her scales shiver. "They're....all dead now." She felt her ear snagged to the right as she heard her name be mentioned with Cordenth with a laugh, anything to take her mind away from her deeds.

"Well..I for one am going to tell her!" Cordenth smirked, flipping over his brother with an angled wing.

Lyyreth gave him a snarl, booping his brother on the nose with a claw as he passed over him, before suddenly darting away with a dive.

"Oh you think you're so clever!" Cordenth shouted, tucking in his wings and entering a steep dive after his cackling brother.

"You were always the poor flier. Go ask mother!"

"Hey! Pay attention you two. Were here!" Infinity snarled, thrusting a talon towards the town and the mountain. "Now shush your collective snouts before you draw more attention to ourselves than needed!" She maintained a stare as sharp as an arrowhead towards them as they broke off their playful activity and swooped round to take position beside her without a word.

At least they listened when it got important.

She snorted, casting them a nod of thanks as they angled their wings and circled the town square below. It was spread around a large onyx statue of a dragon proudly rearing up with snarling teeth. In its eyes were orange gems, the light would catch them and look as if they were cast in flames. The building's all were maintained in a near pristine state, not a thing looked to be out of place or scattered around the cobblestone street. Grass clung between houses, long and collected around trees and rocks that littered the area. There were no signs of any kind like the previous town she had seen. No shops to visit or inn to rest.

Although for a village of slaves I can see why he wouldn't have those things. She narrowed her eyes as they scanned the villagers who had stopped to cast them inquisitive stares from below. She paid them little mind as fingers rose to trace her movements, and her eyes fell to something in the center of town. Right in the square was a large wooden post that had been shoved through the shoulder of an elven woman. Infinity could tell by her drooping ears. The elf seemed to be still alive, groaning and twisting atop a pool of crusted blood. Her arms were hanging by her side, just like her head, obviously accepting her fate of a slow death.

Infinity muttered a curse under her breath, one that she hoped Amatae hadn't heard.

The elf held in her hands shivered, her hands shooting to her mouth with a gasp. "I....I.." Amatae's voice cracked as tears came to her eyes. "I liked her...She..told us that we deserved better...Tried to free us...." The girl turned to bury her face into Infinities chest. "She didn't deserve that."

"I don't see our tyrant yet." Lyyreth scanned the now cloud filled sky, his eyes filled with glints of determination. "I'll keep looking, last thing we need is him getting the drop on us."

"Dear...dear." Infinity suddenly flared her wings, steady wing beats keeping them aloft in the air as she curled her head down to tend to the quaking girl. Amatae's face had twisted as she had cried, scrunching up together as sobs worked their way from quivering lips. "I need you to focus...What kind of magic does he seem best with? Any help would do wonders for us....Help us know what kind of dragon we're up against."

"N...No." The girl pulled tighter against Infinitie's limb, fear radiating from her skin. "If he ever got angry with us he just opened his maw and let loose his red bolts of lightning."

"Ah.." Infinity sighed, that would certainly explain the scorch marks from before.

"I saw him levitate that adventure lady down there with a wave of his claw. Dragged her away like she was tethered to him by an invisible wire...Said he was going to make an example out of her. I didn't think..."

She couldn't finish, her tears returning in full force and shattering any of other words away like glass.

"We...Have a few tricks up our scales." Cordenth circled around with his scarf fluttering brushing against his scales, his voice lowered. "Besides..If we break his concentration that little trick won't work..And I can be most distracting when I put my mind to it."

"That is true." She cast him a withering glance as she hugged Amatae tight. "Most annoying."

"Shall we go down and greet the villagers? Possibly get some more information on our tyrant?"Lyyreth swooped around, his head never ceasing it's scanning.

"No.." Infinity gazed to Amatae. "Do you know where his lair is? I'd rather take care of this tyrant before he has a chance to prepare for our arrival."

Amatae slowly rose a hand pointing towards the top of the mountain. Infinity followed her finger to spy a large looking structure cast into the side of the rocky slopes. It had carvings of dragons that was were at least three times her size in height. "There...He has a cave in there...Made especially for him."

"Thank you little one." She nodded, her eyes looking to the towering stone. She let out a deep breath, it wouldn't be long till this dragon was dethroned from his position of power.

"Perhaps we should leave the girl back in town." Lyyreth eyed the girl as he circled. "Would be most unwise to bring a youngling into a fight."

"Very." She sighed, scales brimming with ice as she remembered her escape.

"You're...not going to bring me home?" Amatae shivered. "You're just going to leave me?"

"That's not it." She splayed her ears. "When we start the fighting with this dragon...I'd rather not see one such as yourself hurt." The black dragon winced. "I have seen it happen before."

"So..you're definitely going to kill him?"

There was a momentary pause as Infinity glared at the stone dragons on the mountain. Briefly she considered chasing the purple off, smacking him around and giving him a piece of their mind. Then she considered they were going to leave, head off for another adventure. During that time the tyrant could return...and be more horrible than he was before they got there. Her talons tingled at the thought of killing another dragon. She had proven good at it after all. "Don't worry." She spat the words with a hiss and flames filling her eyes. "We're going to kill him."

"Perhaps return me to town then? My family will know what to do."

Infinity cast her gaze to the two brothers, seeing looks of contemplation on both of their faces.

"I'll bring her to the village. I'll catch up with you if you want to head off right now." Cordenth snorted, his view going to the girl then to the village.

"That could work...Just don't take too long Blue...We might need you if the purple one proves to be extra tough." She made her way over to Cordenth, like handling an egg she passed Amatae over to his outstretched claws. The girl squealed at the sudden exchange, but grabbed the black scales of the green dragon when in his arms.

"Don't worry little one. I shall carry you as if you were a princess." Cordenth dipped a wing, heading towards the village with a flap of his wings. "Stay safe you two!" He called back, curling his neck around. "And don't have all the fun without me!"

"Oh yes...Dragon fighting..Rather fun and exciting that is....I could possibly die of excitement." She rolled her eyes, casting the mountain an intense stare before setting course for the towering stone.

"He's just nervous...Don't mind him." Lyyreth took position beside her, his beats matching her own. "How are you holding up?"

"Nervous is the best word that comes to mind." She sighed, her wingtip cutting through a cloud and spiraling beneath her. "Is this what adventuring is always about?"

"About how?"

"The fighting and killing?"She turned her head, staring deeply into Lyyreth's eyes.

"Not all the time..It is supposed to be about seeing new things...Meeting new people...Getting into situations where you rely on each other. Fighting I suppose is just another thing that is stirred into the mix."

"Good." She snorted. "I'd hate it to just be fighting all the damn time." The grass below them started to sparse as rocks became the norm as the ground rose up to greet them. It was uneven, of all different shades of grey and black littered with dark coppery rust and scratches. It was then that her nose tingled with the unmistakable scent of dragon mixed with the smell of rain during a storm. "I smell him." Her eyes narrowed, her muscles tensing up in anticipation.

"I smell him too." The green mumbled his words laced with a tad of worry. "Last time we fought a dragon....Wait...I never fought a dragon..Unless you count my mother."

"You fought your mother?"

"It was complicated...She got rather angry and unreasonable

"Shhhh.." She snapped her jaws at him. "We have time for your talk about fighting your mother later..Focus on spotting him!"

"Right." He nodded, wings spreading wide as the wind wrapped around them. "I doubt he's just sitting in his lair waiting for us. He could be hunting around...Lazing on a rock.."

"Or heading right for us." Infinity groaned as from the entrance to the rock statues came a great purple scaled dragon. The beast spread his dark purple wings, tossing his onyx colored horns before leaping into the air with a scattering of rocks. His body was covered in numerous scars that went from his snout to his tail. Some were as small as daggers across his chest, while others near his spine were large and discolored pink. His eyes shone like orange flames, and were locked right on them without a wavering glance away.

She felt dread build up in her chest as he looked to be about the same size of Emerald Lady, and if he was just as tough as she imagined she was...This might actually be harder than she imagined it would be. She steadied her nerves with a breath and clenched her claws.

"He doesn't know we're here to put an end to his tyrannical ways. This would work in our advantage..." Lyyreth mumbled as the purple dragon closed the distance far quicker than she would have liked. She was about to let loose a bolt of lightning in greeting but his words made her stumble as they were warm and inviting.

"Greetings!" The dragon roared, giving the two a large smile. "I didn't expect visitors in my realm! What dare I ask brings ones such as yourselves to this countryside?"

The two dragons suddenly stopped, hoving in mid air as his kind words disarmed their hostilities. Her fire was snuffed out as he swooped over, his eyes drifting back between Lyyreth and her.

"We...didn't exactly plan on it." Lyyreth mumbled, his face scrunching up as he sneezed.

"We...were just flying through." Infinity lied, giving the dragon a big smile. "Just exploring around together. Saw the lovely dragon statues. Couldn't help but come in for a closer look!"

"Oh.." The purple shifted his head to the statues, then back to her with a grin and eyes filled with pride. "They are rather nice are they not? I had the sculptor use me as the model.

"Oh very. I can see the resemblance.!"

The dragon gave a rumbling purr before he sniffed the air with his next wingbeat, gesturing to his home in the next.

"Then if you two are willing. I'd like to invite you to my humble abode. It's been ages since I've had actual company, and would love an evening to share with good words, pleasing drink, and excellent food!"

Infinity looked to Lyyreth, ignoring his look of unease. Was it possible the little one was exaggerating with her claims? This dragon seemed polite enough. She offered him a polite bow of her head. Perhaps this could all be settled with words. She scolded herself for restricting her options to murder and death.

"And how about you green one?"

"We....Would love to." Lyyreth muttered, his voice laced with sarcasm. Though by the way the purple was still grinning he must not have picked up on it.

"Now what shall I call you little ones? My name is Grozzo." His chest swelled with his words, hanging in the air like a cloud.

"Infinity." She placed a claw to her chest. Flashing the smug purple a grin.

"And you.." Grozzo narrowed his eyes, seemingly scanning every inch of the green dragon hoving before him. "Seem very familiar. Can't quite put my tongue on it."

"I..get that alot actually." Lyyreth laughed, "Always think I'm some other green dragon. Should have seen this one time with a human paladin. The man absolutely fell in love with me. Jokes on him. I wasn't the same dragon! Should have seen the red spread to his face!"

"Nonsense...It's more than that." The purple beat his wings, circling the green dragon with sharp eyes. "The wing pattern...The eyes like sunflowers. I remember those eyes...Long ago." The dragon suddenly took in an intake of breath, a gasp releasing from his maw. "You're Emerald Ladies boy!"

The words gave Infinity pause as she went to chuckle hearing that dragoness name used. Now that he mentioned it Lyyerth certainly looked sort of like her. It was when Lyyreth coughed and his frills started to darken when it hit her like a rock. Tingles of ice lapped at her scales as she stared flames into Lyyreth's yellow spheres. The truth was shining clearly in them in that single moment he met her gaze.
