Nightmares
#9 of Short Stories
Jade ran down a long corridor a red carpet ran down the center and scary paintings lined the walls every now and again split up by a torch on the wall casting menacing shadows around the halls. Jade's fear was overpowering as he ran, he wanted to curl up in a corner and hide, tho he didn't know what he was afraid of he just kept running.
The hall just kept going almost as if it was repeating itself. Finally Jade skidded to a stop and looked behind him, a wooden door stood incased in a wall that shouldn't be there, he'd been running his hours how could he only be inches from a wall behind him? He didn't really care as he pulled at the handle, he just wanted it off this scary place, he opened the door and stepped forward only his for never touched the ground as he feel he opened his mouth to scream but no sound came out.
Jade fell down, up, left, right? He couldn't tell as he fell through blackness, suddenly a hole was below him and he felt air around him again he landed on grass. Jade looked up, a large house stood before him, he got to his feet and walked up and rang the doorbell. No one answered, he turned to leave.
"Creeeeak." Jade stopped and looked behind him the door had opened to reveal a grand hall, spiral staircases leading to a second floor hallways leading left and right and a table sat in the center that had an object sitting on it. Jade walked up to it, a pacifier! My pacifier! Jade immediate put it in his mouth and began to suck, he felt himself shrink a little, he'd been around the size of a ten year old, now he was more five. He decided he'd go towards the kitchen, being so hungry, and started walking that way. He entered and saw a cookie jar on the table, yumm, he thought and began to climb the chairs. He reached into the jar to get a cookie. . . Wait that doesn't feel like a cookie, he thought, them something grabbed his arm and pulled him into the jar.
He was once again falling through darkness, then he landed in a crib his Pikachu Plushy was there he grabbed it and hugged it.
"I'm done caring for you, I'm leaving." Archer said as he stood up and walked out. Jade's eyes widened and he began to cry, and then everything went black.
Jade awoke from his nightmare, crying, he hugged his Pikachu Plushy as he cried. Suddenly Archer came in and flipped on the light.
"What's wrong?" Archer asked, lifting Jade from the crib and hugging him. So soft, Jade thought curling into Archer's fur. Archer carried him down to the living room, his crying slowing as he calmed down. Jade felt safe in Archer's arms, "I-I had a n-niwtmare." Jade said, sniffling. Archer squeezed him into a tighter hug.
"It's ok buddy, I'll protect you." Archer replied, sitting down on the couch, he laid Jade in his lap and supported the kit's back and head with his arm before taking a bottle of baby formula and pushing the nipple into the mouth of Jade who immediately latched on and began to suckle rythumicly. Archer smiled warmly as Jade relaxed and began to purr happily, his eyes were half closed slits his paws kneaded Archer's chest as Jade drank.
Finally Jade finished and was asleep Archer carried him back upstairs and Laid him in bed before heading back to his room he checked the clock before laying down. Archer sighed, as he looked at the digits displayed it was midnight.
