#1 of Pokerus FX Epidemic

Sort of a companion series to a one-shot I made, somewhat more serious rather than pure smut. In this version of the world, we're going on the assumption that in terms of infectious diseases, the only one known about in the Pokémon world was Pokérus, and since it was beneficial until now, nobody thought about how to contain it. That said, I am going to assume they have diseases that can be picked up from the environment, such as tetanus, just not between living beings.

Its likely this series may contradict the one-shot... So its canonicity to this series should be taken with a grain of salt.

Smut will likely still play a role in this series, just in a more subtle way. Later chapters may be more smutty than this one.

A bunch of researchers had started drinking in the break room of their facility; there was a sour mood clinging to them like a fog, given how little they could do in this situation, and the face of a woman on the telescreen wasn't helping much, nor really looking too happy themselves.

"Are you saying there's nothing more you can do?" the woman asked.

One of the researchers looked up from their drink, the researchers there were all young, but he seemed to be a couple of years older. "We tried quarantining the islands, but after interviewing the locals, it seems that we're already too late... The infection is already in the ocean life, and unless you want to spend an unprecedented amount of time and money trying to quarantine the ocean; then the best we can do is hold populations in quarantine until eventually the ocean runs out of carriers... Which could very well be never."

The woman on screen pulled out a clipboard. "You mentioned you learned something from the locals... What did you find?"

The man scratched his unkempt hair. "Its a long story, pieced together bit by bit out of order... But it seems that despite he first report being in Melemele island, the outbreak started on Poni Island. Because of that, the other two islands got infected due to not managing to quarantine them in time."

"Any clue who the... What did you call it?" the woman asked.

The young man rolled his eyes. "Patient zero... And yes, we know who they were, and what they've become," he said, "Its sad really... When I predicted the possibility that Pokerus could mutate into something more dangerous, this isn't quite what I expected."

"Either way, you've given us the protocols on how to deal with it," the woman said, "right now though, as your supervisor, I need you to tell me the details of this 'patient zero' of yours."

Case 00 - Poni Island, Day 1

Kaine nursed the injury to his left shoulder, his arm felt swollen and much of the flesh was discoloured; blue hairs sprouting down much of its length. A Pokémon attack like that didn't normally do something like this... Did the Riolu that struck him somehow know Toxic?

He practically collapsed onto the docks of Seafolk village, and already the people were ready to pick him up and take him inside. The town was too small for a full hospital, so they took him to the Pokémon centre for some improvised care. Things were somewhat of a blur as they dragged him to the operating room. The nurse saw his arm and took out a syringe, poking it into his arm while he was still barely conscious. There was a pause as the blood was drawn, and then the needle was withdrawn.

However, once more blood continued to flow from the prick site, the nurse suddenly gagged and held her hands to her face, doubling over as pale fur started growing on her face.

The men present also staggered, growths on their chests rapidly forming for each of them; and one of them started straight up glowing a bright light, and their silhouette started growing... And then the Pokémon centre lurched from the weight.

Before he even knew what was happening, he was thrown to the floor, and got an up close look as the floor seemed to spring a leak. As the panic surged in him, the pain in his body only immobilized him further, as he felt his chest swelling, and there was a sharp pain in the very centre like something was trying to burst out of his chest.

He lost consciousness the moment he saw an iron spike burst out of his chest, nestled between two growing soft mounds.

"... It seems that the remoteness and small scale of the town, coupled with its sudden destruction delayed any news of what happened," the researcher said, "as for this 'Kaine' himself, while the rest of the people in Seafolk village ended up swimming to shore, with some aquatic exceptions, it appears he was dragged away by some Pokémon. He eventually washed up on Melemele Island days later, starving and dehydrated."

The woman on the other end raised an eyebrow. "You say they 'appear' to have been dragged away? Do you have anything to support this hypothesis?"

The man shrugged. "Its an educated guess. Its unlikely it was the currents that dragged him away, as there were closer islands for him to wash up on. Melemele is probably the furthest. More-over, if he didn't have something to keep him above the surface, it would be more likely for him to have drowned... It also makes sense given it gave the first opportunity for them to have infected the ocean Pokémon; as that's how the islands managed to be infected after Melemele was quarantined."

The woman paused. "Before we continue, is there a reason you're using male pronouns for them given their current state?"

"I'm deferring to the fact that they were born male, and didn't ask to become female," he said, "if you think that's unprofessional, or unscientific, I can stop."

The woman shrugged. "Its not that, I'm just a bit uncertain how we're supposed to handle them... Do their identities change with their bodies? Should we make them change if not? Should we try giving them surgery to turn them back?"

The man chuckled. "Not the problems I've been worrying about... But given how similar this transformation can be to Pokémon evolution to some, its possible that their mind is going to adapt to their new body the way a Pokémon can use its new body immediately after evolution," he said, "that said, that's just in terms of being able to use their body... And even then, they still remember their old body and how it worked given they can often retain moves meant for their original form... and if they preferred their old form, they might feel uncomfortable with it even despite the fact it would feel natural to them."

"That sounds a lot like an 'I don't know' to me," the woman said.

"Moving on," the man said, "we've still got to cover how the infection spread once it hit Melemele."

Case 01, Part 1- Melemele Island, Day 4

Abe was wondering along the beach, chucking Pukumuku back into the ocean. He wasn't getting paid like some of the others, but he didn't want the area near his shack to smell like dead Pokémon. While scanning the Beach however, he saw what looked like either a half buried person given the clothes on them. As he rushed over, he rolled them over, and the sight kind of stunned him.

It looked like a Lucario, half clothed in human clothes, but it had some human features. Locks of human hair perched on their head augmented the appearance of their muzzled face, hey had a decently sized pair of breasts, not normally present on a Pokémon, and their hand paws seemed to have an extra digit or two more than expected given the thumb.

"Are you okay?" Abe asked, "If you can speak, say something, otherwise just nod or shake your head."

The seeming Lucario groaned. "Thirsty... Hungry... Pain..."

Abe noticed that the Lucario's clothes seemed to be caked in blood and a few puncture marks. He rolled up the long looking sleeve of the shirt and noticed a still weeping bite mark.

"That doesn't look good... But nothing a bandage can't fix... I'll take you home," Abe said.

Abe suddenly gagged, but otherwise held it back as he picked up the Lucario. It was only a short walk, and the moment they opened the door, Abe practically dropped her on the couch, causing her to wince.

"You're heavy, you know that?" Abe said as he grabbed a thermos of hot cocoa from the counter. "Not a surprise given the steel typing." Abe brought the cocoa over and poured it into the Lucario's mouth. "Drink, this should cover two out of three."

The Lucario seemed to relax a little, but when the sound of something dropping from the leg of her pants occurred she suddenly flinched, and Abe looked over.

A pair of fluffy balls rested on the floor, with a bright pink phallus poking out of it, its tip still hanging onto the cuff of her pants... For a moment, Abe thought it was some kind of expensive dildo, but when Abe touched it, the Lucario let out a whimper, even though she seemed to be half out of it.

He picked it up gently, and with every move he made with it, the Lucario seemed to get more agitated, and so he placed it onto a soft cushion, letting her calm down.

Abe sighed, and decided to start searching for a bandage. "So... What happened, and more to the point... What exactly are you? You look more human than a normal Lucario."

The Lucario groaned. "... I was... Human once... Punched by a Riolu... Arm turned dark... A Pokémon centre... Bled from their needles... Then it happened to them..."

Abe looked back at the Lucario's wound as she spoke. "Is that going to happen to me?"

The Lucario merely groaned back at Abe, and there was a moment of silence.

"If it does I guess I need to make sure not to bleed near anyone," Abe said, "I mean... I guess being part Pokémon won't be too bad."

The Lucario almost laughed, but she ended up mostly coughing instead. "... That was once attached to me..." she said "... Now I'm female... Down there... That may happen to you..."

Abe gave a look of regret, but then shrugged. "Too late to do anything about that now."

"... Abe and Kaine did seem to have enough common sense not to expose anyone to them directly, Kaine's wounds weren't healing too quickly, and so that left Abe to find food for both of them."

The woman seemed to be looking over some data on the other end of the call. "There seems to be a lot of inconsistency on how long the change takes, or what determines species... Any clues on that?"

The man waved it off. "Yes and no... Some of the locals who had the least painful changes claimed that the Pokémon they turned into had mated their ancestors... Others with more pain had consistent contact with the Pokémon they turned into, usually their partners but sometimes a Pokémon they care for professionally, like a rancher becoming a Miltank."

"Which of those applies to Kaine?" The woman asked.

The man shrugged. "Inconclusive; he'd previously raised a Lucario, but wasn't currently doing so, and given he seemed to have caught it from a Riolu, its likely that its related... More than likely its both."

He swigged a good portion of rum. The woman scowled momentarily before composing herself. "Your observations note that regular Pokémon carrying this strain of Pokérus turn female like the humans do when they become Pokémon, but no other transformation... Anything to explain this?"

"Not really... But we did note some odd cases, such as Pokémon who've switched sex, but keep the aesthetic form associated with their original sex; and in the same vein Pokémon with male only sex ration don't switch species either, but they do still take on the primary sexual characteristics of a female."

The woman thought about this for a moment. "That's... Bizarre... But I suppose its no weirder than the fact humans turned Pokémon keep the features of a human," she said, "speaking of... Can we truly consider them Pokémon, or are they still human... Or something else?"

"If you're talking legally, that's for the politicians to debate, but my ethical obligations are to treat them as a person first either way," he said, "that said, if the reactions of normal Pokémon are anything to go by, they'll treat them as both at once."

The woman shrugged. "Fair enough... Do we have any idea if there's anyone immune to Pokérus? It might be used to create a vaccine"

"Its hard to tell... We won't know for sure until the Pokérus becomes inert... If it becomes inert... So far its been weeks and it remains contagious for anyone who catches it. So far, some people change slowly, others fast... Anyone we assume is immune could turn out to just be slow bloomers."

The woman nodded. "Alright... Continue."

Case 01, Part 2 - Melemele Island, Day 7

Abe was starting to find it harder to hide what had been happening to him; his right hand's digits were now stubby and dark furred, he was still able to grasp thin objects, but he couldn't exactly hold a cup with it, if the cup didn't have a handle. Alola didn't exactly have chains of stores selling long sleeved shirts or hoodies, so the best he could do was wrap it in bandages and pretend it was broken.

He also had to hide his ears with a hat now, given they were now cute little cat ears. He had already grown the beginnings of breasts, and they were poking into his shirt. It didn't take much posing for him to notice his figure as a whole was becoming feminine as well... Everywhere except where it counted; though it likely wouldn't last for much longer, it felt like his maleness was going to fall off on its own at any time. So long as it was people he didn't know, he could probably pass as a girl... Anyone familiar with him would probably ask a lot of questions though.

The long black tail he'd gotten, twitching in his pants, was something he hoped wouldn't draw attention. He wouldn't be able to keep going shopping like this if this kept up.

He was carrying groceries to bring back for Kaine right now, she had gotten most of her energy back, but their wound from the Sharpedo bite was still a bit ragged.

This lapse in concentration was broken when Abe felt a sudden scratch across his cheek; he pressed his left hand against it, and felt blood.

He looked around and saw a smug looking Meowth looking at him, only for its face to falter as it made this look like it was about to be sick.

"Oh no..." Abe said. Looking around, he could already see people doubled over; and one unlucky man running one of the market stands practically scattered his products everywhere as a large pair of bright orange draconic wings sprouted from their back.

Abe felt like he was about to be sick when he suddenly felt his weight shift and he fell to all fours. Looking down, he saw his left hand get engulfed by light as it changed to match his right. As the light seemed to suffuse the rest of his body, he could feel his gait adjusting to a four legged stance, including changes to his hind legs. He barely noticed the changes to his own face though.

When the light stopped, he found himself staring at his breasts, no longer just the beginnings of breasts, but genuine blooms of femininity; at least for a young girl.

There was one part of his body still tingling with the light though, as he felt a new opening gaping behind him, he could feel his last vestige of maleness feeling like it was being torn off and reshaped.

... Then suddenly, he felt a pop, and it slipped out of his pants and landed right in front of his face; an oversized cat dick covered in crimson barbs, and paired with two oversized black balls like the lewd sex toy his own junk had become.

For a moment he just stood there staring at it, listening to the panic around him while everyone was trying to figure out what was happening to them... He was only able to whimper to himself "its my fault, this is all my fault."

He tried to shake off his guilt as tears began to stream down his face, he clumsily grabbed is detached dick with what little was left of his hands, and shoved it into his grocery bags, and ducked his head into the handle of the bags... He wanted to go home, he didn't want to deal with this, he wanted to cry.

... And the flared up heat in his loins as his body jostled around running away didn't help his confused state of mind, nor how the groceries rubbed against his detached dick, or how constricted his breasts felt in a shirt now far too small to contain them.

He wasn't ready to accept himself as a girl either... As much as he tried to sound like he would just live with it before... This was just too much.

Before he even realized what he was doing, he'd already reached his shack, only to jump through the window into his bedroom rather than using the front door. And he curled up into a ball on the bed after shaking off the bags.

After only a few minutes of sobbing quietly, he could hear the news broadcasting on the TV in the other room, news spreads fast it seems.

There was a soft knock on the door to his room, and he heard Kaine let herself in quietly. "Its okay," Kaine said, "its not your fault, you were attacked."

"I should have told someone... I didn't think about what would happen if there was an accident... I didn't even think about how we'd live if we couldn't hide it anymore... We could have called for help, and maybe we'd be the only ones in this situation... Maybe..."

"... And maybe the Sharpedo that dragged me to this Island has already put others in this situation... Things happen," Kaine said, "sure, thinking about it now, we could have done things different... But you'd be couped up like I was... Besides, the Meowth that attacked you probably would have attacked someone else... I guess this way they at least have to deal with the consequences of their own actions."

Abe looked up at Kaine, tears streaming down his face. "... And now my dick is stuck in the salad!"

Kaine doubled over in laughter, barely managing to contain herself. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry... That's just so funny."

Abe kind of quieted down a bit, sobbing less uncontrollably now. "Kaine... Am... Am I becoming more of a girl?"

Kaine shrugged. "No idea, right now though you sound less like a girl and more like a scared kid."

"I'm not a kid!" Abe shouted back.

"Every kid says that," Kaine said, "but kids don't usually have something like this," Kaine said, pulling Abe's detached dick out of the grocery bag.

Abe could only gasp as he felt Kaine's tongue sliding down the member, bending the barbs back as she did so, as if trying to clean off all the vegetable matter stuck in it.

Kaine pulled it out and stuck her tongue out. "Wow, having that inside you would be a weird experience... It would be like being fucked by a toothbrush".

Abe chuckled, and could have sworn she was blushing at the thought that happening to her. She calmed herself down when she realized she had started thinking about herself as a girl. "Kaine... How do you... Just accept becoming a girl this easily... How is it that... I'm suddenly thinking of myself as if I am one... How do you not loose your mind like this?"

Kaine just shrugged. "I almost drowned, compared to that, I'll call myself whatever people want. I don't know if the new body has changed my personality or not... But Its certainly made me comfortable in it." Kaine paused and fidgeted with the band of the pants she was wearing to cover up her sex. "Well... Mostly comfortable... Can one really be comfortable with being horny if you're not ready to satisfy it?"

Abe fidgeted down there herself as she thought about it, she tried to imagine if she'd be more comfortable without a pussy between her legs, but really she end up focusing on how knotted she was inside about how horny she was.

"I guess you're right about that," Abe said, "but how am I supposed to deal with this?"

"Think of it like being a virgin," Kaine said, "if you're not comfortable doing it, don't try to force it, just take it as slow as you feel comfortable with."

Abe sighed, only for her ears to perk up again as the sounds of distant screams continued to echo in the distance. "I'd... probably find somewhere to shower away all of this... But... For all I know, people might want to skin me..."

Kaine petted Abe's hair, and Abe found herself leaning into it. "That's fine," Kaine said, "I'll just try and make something out of what you brought."

"Thanks," Abe said, "this... Feels a bit like the roles have reversed."

Kaine chuckled. "Just think of it as me repaying the favour," she said, closing the door as she left Abe's room.

Abe laid down on her stomach as best she could, given her breasts were jutting out of her chest, and closed her eyes. Perhaps not real sleep coming to her, but at least calming herself enough to rest.

"So the outbreak happened because they didn't think they'd get cut on a routine walk," the woman summarized from the man's explanation.

The man had already finished his bottle of rum, and had nested himself back in his chair. "Yes... Same story seems to have happened on the other two islands... Not much notable there with how their outbreaks happened... An injured water Pokémon washed up on shore, and someone had the misfortune of running across them. The water Pokémon part being probably the only notable difference worth discussing."

The woman looked through the Pokérus notes. "I'm still not sure exactly how this is spread... Sure the observation seems to show that merely being around exposed infected body fluids seems to be enough... But that does explain how it's getting inside those present."

The man rested his hand on his cheekbone. "I've spent a long time looking into that, and near as I can tell once the blood is exposed, the virus can transmit itself like its radiation, similar to how Pokémon turn into energy when they're in a Pokéball, or when they evolve... And it explains why it can infect Pokémon inside balls."

The woman sighed, "there's one last thing I wanted to ask about... Why are you all drinking?"

The man shrugged. "The others are mostly paranoid and depressed... The symptoms seem to progress slower if one is calm... A lot of them think alcohol will help them with that... Some I don't think that will work for them," he said. He paused, staring at the bottom of the bottle. "Once, I drank for a similar reason... In hopes that if I had caught a strain like this one, it would slow it."

The woman blinked. "Are you saying this isn't the first strand of this disease?"

The man shrugged. "The details are still under a confidentiality agreement, so I can't answer that directly... But needless to say, now I only drink because if I stop drinking, I'll get withdrawal."

"How is it you're not completely incoherent right now?" the woman asked. "I hope this won't interfere with your work."

"Its a long story... But no it shouldn't be a problem," the man said.

The woman huffed, and the call ended.

The man looked deeper into his bottle, as if wondering whether to remember or forget. "Resistance to poison they said... They never said I'd have to live off the stuff."
