#27 of Counter Earth Chronicles: Fallen Empire

Last Chapter:

The residents of the lost city realized that they were being targeted by the night creatures that were roaming the forests surrounding them. Commander Rhinox organized a night guard to keep watch over the city while its residents slept. That evening the guard confronted the latest invaders to breach the city's defenses and they were the toughest ones yet...

Counter Earth Chronicles - Fallen Empire Chapter 27: The Future We Lost

February was turning out to be a bad month for all in the lost city do to the constant breaches by the roaming monsters who were looking for quick and easy meals during the harsh winter.

Day 48 (4:10 AM our home)

"Little cutie are you awake?" My lioness asked over our snoring female brown bear.

*groan* "I am now." I responded.

"I can't sleep because of this noise. Is Ursa always like this?" Shakara said rising from the she bear's left arm.

"Only when she is extremely, extremely tired. I have learned to live with it. You will too."

"I am not sure I can." The lioness commented.

"Why? Was she groping your backside incorrectly?" I asked annoyed. "Shakara the continuous attacks by the monsters over the last three weeks have everyone on edge, burnt out, exhausted and irritable.

"I know little cutie, I know."

"Everyone is fearful about the next breach, the next adversary especially if they are on night watch." I said lifting my head from the warrior bear's right arm to stare at the tan she beast.

"Nine breaches within the last three weeks and there appears to be no end in site. Each time Rhinox, Rumble, Corey, Russell and our bear fight these things, I wonder if they are going to be annihilated." The lion lady said.

"You are not the only one my lioness." I responded.

"I just wished that there was something more we can do." My devious person said- those red eyes of hers staring right back at me.

"Shakara everyone is doing their part. Our warriors are trying their best to protect us, Overwatch is supplementing our security, the professor and Corbin are documenting and studying each creature that has attacked the city and we are patching up and healing our defenders as best we can."

"But still...." The lion lady said.

"If you want to do something more why not let exhausted sleeping bears sleep? Lady Ursa has reached the end of her rotation and has the next few nights off unless the commander and Russell or Corey and Rumble encounter something."

"I see your point little cutie." Shakara said lying down on her side and letting our warrior bear rest her paw on her butt. I did the same on my side as well.

"Unless...." The dark tan lioness said catching my attention again.

"Unless what?" I asked my devious person.

"We make sure our bear's down time is the most pleasurable of her entire existence!"

"Shakara what is going on in that head of yours?"

"You always think bad of me don't you Mr. Winter?"

"That is because you're devious." I said looking at her.

"Follow my lead little cutie."

The horny lioness placed her paw on Lady Ursa's stomach and lowered herself to where she was on the same level as my fierce ursine warrior's rack. Once there she leaned over grasped her left breast and started gently and softly kissing it!

"Hey! I sleep on that!" I said to the mischievous lioness.

Shakara ignored me and moved on to groping, licking and sucking on it. She then looked up at the snoring bear who facial expression seemed to have turned into a smile.

One that spread. The devious lioness then smiled looking directly at me. "I can't be

sure, but I think she is now having passionate wonderful dreams. Your turn!"

"But...." I responded.

"We'll get to that on another night. Remember it is for a good cause."

And so I started to do the same to my mistress' right breast. First kissing it, then licking it on the tip and then around the areolar getting fur on my tongue for my trouble. Shakara watched with warped fascination as our warrior bear continued to smile within her sleep.

"Wow, those things are magnificent." I said in a daze.

"Better than mine?" The lion lady said.

"They are both nice." I replied.

"Why is that little cutie?"

"Because they belong to me, both of them."

"Nice recovery. Very smooth. Now let's bring it home." Shakara said with a devious smirk.

She then rose to her knees and moved to the brown bear's sex leaning down to take a good whiff.

"Shakara?!"

"A pleasant organic smell with a slight splashing of semen- Winter fresh."

The horny lioness took her middle paw finger and gently placed it into the slit in the bear's sex. She then started moving it up and down back and forth.

Next she spread my mistress' labia minora- wide.

"Oh she is quivering with anticipation." The lion lady exclaimed.

"Um, what are you doing?!" I asked shocked.

"Bringing things to a natural climax." Shakara said.

I cut my eyes at her as she guided my hand to touch Lady Ursa's clitoris.

"Or you can say we are testing her to see if she is free from the entity's influence. Now rub right here in a gentle circular motion."

We both listened as our bear's breathing grew ragged due to my administrations.

"Closer... closer... she is getting closer and here it is!" Shakara shout-whispered sticking two paw fingers into our fierce ursine warrior's cub tunnel. A second later Lady Ursa orgasmed.

*GRUNT* *GRUNT*

"That was it?!" Shakara said lifting up her paw fingers.

I looked at the fluid that was on them. "Yup she came. This time only two grunts."

It was obvious that our warrior bear was getting better, but she still had a ways to go to get back to where she was.

"Good try Shakara." I said as the lioness pulled me toward her with her clean paw.

"I want a turn little human." She smiled deviously.

"Any special requests?" I asked nervously as the she beast spread her legs wide and made me drop to my hands and knees in front of her sex.

"Breast worship followed by genital masturbation." The lioness ordered.

*Alert!! There has been another security breach!!! Alert!!!* The automated assistant

from within the prototype shouted.

"And incursion number ten." I said while kissing my lioness' breasts.

"DAMN!" Shakara shouted.

"Mistress!!! Mistress!!!" I said trying to wake the sleeping bear next to us.

"UNGFF!!! Morning already pet?" She said groggily. "And I was having the most wonderfully erotic dream."

"There has been another security breach my lady." Shakara said rising.

Lady Ursa did the same noticing that her and the lioness' crotches were dribbling.

While my females were um, cleaning themselves up- ran out to the street and the prototype. I was joined by Corey and Rumble who were watching Corbin and Dawn who were already analyzing the situation.

"What do you have?" I asked the archeologist.

"The probe is detecting something in the south maze with Rhinox and Russell."

"How many?" Lady Ursa asked as she and Shakara joined us.

"One monster I think, but there is a lot of rampant movement within." Dawn said yawning.

"It is a battle a fierce one." Corbin concluded.

"...t's go..." Rumble grumbled charging off.

"Right!" Corey ran into their home grabbing his crossbow and arrows and followed his wolf to the south maze, my mistress was right behind them.

"This looks serious. Shakara get the infirmary ready." I said.

"Right." The she beast said running to the central building.

"What should we do in the meantime?" The archeologist asked.

*As usual we will be the last line of defense Ms. Stern.*

Corbin moved over to sit on the divider between the seats as I climbed into the prototype and drove it to where the south maze exited into the city.

*Side-pods engaged*

I lined the cross-hairs on the maze's exit and prepared to fire on whatever it was our defenders were fighting if it got by them.

"Professor?" Corbin asked his adoptive mother.

"The probe is not detecting any activity other than the south maze. Wait! Something is coming towards us."

"ROOOOARRRR!!!!!"

(That came from within the maze!)

It was followed by a large rumbling sound.

"Is it one of our own?" I asked.

*It appears five life signs have stopped moving and a six is about to exit the maze.*

We stood at the ready hoping for the best but fearing the worst. And the worst it was. The creature that emerged from the maze was ugly it looked like a upside down uvula- black in color with a large hole in it center which we could see clear through and it had to have been at least 12 feet tall.

Commander Rhinox, Lady Ursa, Rumble, Corey and Russell were no where to be seen. They had failed to stop it and now my companions and I were the last line between annihilation and oblivion.

"Oh no!" Professor Stern gasped.

"That is one ugly monster." Corbin said as we watched it.

"Deflectors just came on." Dawn announced as the night creature fired a green-yellow fluid at the blue coupe.

"What is that?"

*Acid Mr. Winter.*

"That thing is vicious." The little mongoose boy commented.

"Past tense was." I said combing through the weapons menu.

*I recommend a measured response Mr. Winter.*

I traded glances with Corbin and professor Stern.

"Explain Overwatch." Dawn said.

*That thing got past two of the strongest warriors of the former empire.*

"Acknowledged. The automated assistant is saying that thing is quite strong or crafty depending on what we throw at it may do more damage to the city than us." I said.

"So what do you suggest?" Corbin asked.

"Let's start with the basics little brother."

*Static Pulse engaged*

I pressed the left toggle switch on the weapons console. Dawn, Corbin and I watched as two balls of electricity launched from the side-pods and landed dead center on the creature. It shook off the attack like it was a gentle breeze on a warm day.

"No affect Alex." Corbin announced.

"Ok try this."

*Electric Pulse engaged.*

Two more balls of electricity launched toward the creature. It made a small cackling noise at impact.

"It laughed!" Professor Stern shouted.

"Moving right along." I said combing through the menu.

*Laser system engaged.*

*GAROARRRRR!!!!!!!!!*

That creature let out a blood curdling shriek as it moved towards us.

"Ow, I felt that one." I replied.

*I think you got its attention Mr. Winter.*

"Damage was minimal." Corbin announced.

"Very well." I said making another selection.

*Machine gun engaged.*

"Big brother!" Corbin shouted.

"I know, we can't replace the ammo once it is spent. But it won't matter if we all die, right here, right now." I said to the little mongoose boy.

The bullets hit their mark but just lodged into the creature's black exterior. This was bad. Very bad- if that is what happened to bullets, what about swords, spears and arrows?! It was at this point I truly feared for our warriors as I pressed the left toggle switch to stop firing and went back to the weapon's menu.

*Grenade launcher engaged.*

The right side-pod launched a grenade right at the creature just below the hole in its body.

*BOOM!!!*

The shockwave caused some minor shaking and dust to kick up around the impact site. When it was over the creature was gone but there was black goo everywhere.

*It appears that attack wasn't successful.* The automated assistant announced.

"It looks like it to me!" Dawn shouted.

We watched to our horror as the black go started moving back towards the maze exit where the creature had been and reassembled back into the intruder which was now twice as mad.

*GAAAAAAAAAAAARROOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAR!!!!*

It let out a piercing shriek to let everyone know just that.

"Alex, the flame thrower. Use the flame thrower!" Corbin announced.

"Good idea- the projectiles don't seem too effective at this point." I said scanning the weapons menu and making my selection.

*Flame thrower engaged.*

"Try this on for size ugly!" Corbin shouted.

Trails of red flame discharged from both side-pods as I moved the prototype forward. The creature screamed as it tried to crawl away back toward the maze. I wasn't having any of that. I kept a steady target lock on the creature as it melted under the intense blazing heat. When we had finished, there was nothing left but a pile of ash.

"Threat annihilated." I announced proudly.

"Good. Corbin and I are going to check on our forces." Dawn said ordering me out of the blue coupe.

That was when Corey crawled out of the maze. He was on his hands and knees .

"Corey!" I said running to him. His clothing had the same acid burns on them. "You need to get out of that now."

"They were too strong!" He said collapsing.

"THEY?!" I shouted. I noticed that he had exhausted his supply of arrows and his crossbow was burned.

"ALEX!!!" The little mongoose shouted. I turned my head just in time to see an identical twelve foot creature exited the maze.

"There were two?!" Dawn shouted.

Corbin drove the prototype directly into the path of that thing while I pulled Mr. Collins out of the line of fire.

The little mongoose mimicked my actions and burnt the second intruder to ash as well.

"Corey relax, it is going to be ok." I said to the snarky teen.

"No its not. The others... I couldn't get to them in time. HELP!" He shouted.

I managed to remove his shirt and pants.

"He has numerous burns on his body." Dawn said.

"Change of plan. Corbin help him to the infirmary." I shouted.

"Right big brother." The little mongoose said jumping out of the prototype.

"Come on Corey this way." Corbin said guiding him to the central building.

"Alex! Professor! Help them!" Mr. Collins pleaded.

(This is not good!)

I then joined the professor back inside the blue coupe.

"Dawn!" I said as we drove off.

"Right, checking. None of them are moving." The archeologist said horrified.

"The nearest one first." I ordered.

We carefully made our way through the maze aware that the trap door to the outside world was once again wide opened and we could have more company at any minute.

The first of the creature's victims we came across was my mistress. She had been buried under rubble as a wall of the maze collapsed on her. It took us a good twenty minutes to clear enough debris to pull her out.

"UGH!!!" My warrior bear moaned.

My beloved was in a very bad state.

"Lie still madam knight." Dawn said as we loaded her in the trunk. "We should take her to the infirmary Alex she most likely has internal injuries."

"Yes, but it took us a long time to get to her. We also have three other warriors out there that may be in that condition or worse." I responded.

"But...."

"Professor who is the next closest?"

We drove around several more corners and came to Russell who was lying face down on the floor tunnel. From the direction he had fallen it looked like he had tried to fetch help or was fleeing in terror.

"Is he?" Ms. Stern asked while I checked for a pulse.

"He is breathing. It looks like he was thrown into the wall there by one of those things."

That morning was a particularly dark one for our community as the professor and I had to search the south maze for our missing friends and bring each one of them back to the infirmary.

We next found commander Rhinox who was unconscious he had been trampled by both of those creatures. After bringing him back for treatment we had just one more missing warrior.

"Where is he?! Dawn?"

"I am not detecting any other life signs Alex."

"OH NO!" I screamed.

"Overwatch, was it possible Rumble went into the forest?" The blond female asked.

*It is possible Ms. Stern although I am not detecting anything within the perimeter.*

Dawn and I closed the exit ramp leading to the outside world and drove around every nook and cranny of the maze looking for our resident werewolf. We found what was left of him at a dead end. It appeared Rumble had been cornered and fought ferociously, but like his comrades the creatures that tried to make their way into the lost city were too much for him. He had acid burns on 90 percent of his body. What was left was unrecognizable- a small portion of his face and torso. The rest was muscle matter and bone. Our werewolf had perished trying to protect all of us.

That morning....

"Shakara, Alex." The female archeologist said walking into the infirmary. Corbin was with her.

"This is all of us?" The little mongoose boy said.

"Corey is with Rumble." I said.

"What is our status?" My sister's doppelgänger asked.

"Rhinox was trampled by the whatever they were- he has acid burns on his arms, a broken pelvis, two broken legs and three cracked ribs." The lioness said to the blond human. "He is a tough one but he is going to be out of commission for a while."

"Lady Ursa?" Dawn asked.

"She had a wall collapse on her. She has numerous internal injuries that are going to be difficult to treat with our level of technology." I replied.

"How bad big brother?" Corbin asked.

"Three broken ribs, a broken shoulder, a bruised liver, lacerated pancreas and internal bleeding." I said.

"Russell?" Professor Stern asked.

"He was thrown into a wall while either fleeing or running to get back up." Shakara said. "We don't know but he has a concussion and is going to be out of it for a while."

The infirmary fell silent as the little mongoose boy tried to piece his words together to ask the next question.

"Is it true about Rumble?" The little mongoose boy asked.

I nodded. "He gave his life trying to protect this city and all of us."

Hearing that the little mongoose started tearing up. "Alex how did he?"

"He was cornered by one of those things and tried to fight his way out. Fang and claw were just about as effective as our warrior's weapons. Especially against the creatures' acid attacks."

"We were saved by the prototype's deflectors." The mongoose boy said.

"Rumble didn't have such defenses Corbin." Dawn said trying to comfort her adoptive son.

"So that leaves just five of us." Shakara said.

"Corey can't defend the city by himself." I added.

"What are we going to do WHEN another incursion happens?" The little mongoose asked.

"We take the prototype and blow away every last one of those damn things." I grumbled.

"And what are you going to do when all the weaponry has been exhausted little cutie?" My lioness asked me.

"We will be in the same position as we are in now." The little beastial said. "This is all my fault, I wish we hadn't been spotted digging out the maze exit after that snow storm."

"What is done is done Corbin." I said to the little mongoose.

Ms. Stern was very quiet as she walked out of the infirmary.

"Professor?" The little mongoose asked.

"I am going to check on Corey." She said to me.

"We don't exactly have a comforter here on staff. I am coming too." I announced.

"Corbin let's go and see how Lady Ursa is doing." Shakara said. "I am going need some assistance in trying to treat her injuries."

I followed the professor down the hall to small room lit by glow sticks. We found the black haired teen sitting by the body of his wolf who was shrouded by a cloth laying on a stone slab; it had been stained by his tears.

Dawn said nothing as she watched Corey lift the cloth to stare at the singed biological matter underneath.

"No-no-no-no-no-no-no-no-no-no-no!!!" The teen cried as she walked into the room and stood next to him.

(What does one say in a situation like this?)

"How is your...?" I started to say to him.

"Don't! I am not ok. I won't be... for like the rest of my life." The black haired teen said as I stood next to him.

"None of us will be Corey." I said to him.

"When Rumble and I first met, I thought he was a hideous, large and scary monster. But after he saved me during the cataclysm we became friends and even closer friends after we moved into the lost city. In the end despite being rough around the edges I think he was the most civilized of us all."

I didn't say anything. I just listened.

"I know Lady Ursa and I haven't been too effective since the beginning of all this. Heck, I am archaeologist not a commander, ruler or leader." Dawn said as she started to babble.

"Neither is my mistress. She is a soldier and a warrior. But our precarious situation has forced us to adapt." I said too babbling.

"What are you getting at professor?" Mr. Collins said wiping his tears.

"It is no longer safe to live here." Ms. Stern said lowering her head.

Corey and I looked at each other then the female human as she said:

"I think we should abandon the city."
