#2 of PAST LIFE

Chris gazed out of the barracks once more before putting on his helmet. The insignia on his chest plate and cape indicates the ranks of his position in the army. The wage as a noble guard was pretty high and he was thankful that his brother knew the king very well. The red fox smiled slightly and head towards the training ground where all his soldiers are practicing their own battle techniques. The 35 year old reminised the times where his brother and him practiced daily to protect themselves from any danger. Now he has to use those skills to protect the ones he loved.

"Sir!" a jaguar with approached his commanding officer and salute him before informing his report. "There is a strange creature heading towards our direction from the east."

"Fiend?" the fox asked before following him towards the east wall.

"We don't know sir, but it's closing in rapidly."

Chris quickly glance towards the horizon to see a large blue eagle flying towards his direction. The bird screeched and flew closer to him. Chris's body began to resonate as the fire element inside him started to glow. The fire quickly morphed together and turned into a phoenix. It's fiery feather glow as it rested upon the fox's shoulder. The other soldiers backed away a bit to avoid the heat in surpriseme. The phoenix also screeched towards the other bird as it drew closer. The fox glanced at his fire bird before turning his head towards the other one.

"Aquila," he smiled. He turned his head towards his men who were dazzled by the bird. "It's okay. It's just my brother's summon."

The officers gave a quick sigh of relief as the bird perched on the wall.

"Aquila, the thunder bird," the fox smiled. "What brings you here?" The bird cawed a few times, telling the message towards the fox. Chris immediately stiffened as he continued to listen. "Alright. Thanks." The bird nodded and disappeared into the air. The fox dismissed the bird on his shoulder and turned around.

"I'll be out for a while," he told the jaguar. "My nephew's in trouble."

"How could you understand the creature?"

"In short, Phoenix translates it for me. I still have to thank John for imbuing him into my body." Chris quickly darted towards Dean's cabin, hoping that he would reach there in time.

Jeremiah hacked another body down as it slowly dissipates into the air before he went back to back with Dean. He took a quick whiff of the black fur on his back and was dazzled by the scent of the wolf with a pinch of lilac. He almost went back to his daydream when he shook his head once more to concentrate.

'Not now!' he yelled at himself.

"How many?" Jeremiah asked as he panted for breath.

"Ten," Dean answered as he panted. "You?"

"Twelve. Man! It would've been a lot more easier if someone helps us."

"Duck!"

The two dropped to the ground as a high horizontal cut was made. Dean used the opportunity to stab his sword on the stomach gap and made a full circle slash, killing the fiend.

"Eleven. How many are left?"

"I dunno, around two hundred more!?" Jeremiah yelled as he blocked an attack with a dagger and stabbed the head with the other. "Thirteen."

"How long can we keep this up?"

"I dunno. My magic is mostly support magic. I can't use them to destroy them."

"But you can boost our body, right?"

Jeremiah's head went up as he remembered that little detail. He smacked his forehead with his left paw.

"Damn! I totally forgot about that!" He then chant several spells to boost up their speed, agility, power, and stamina, enough to last for three hours. He also cast one more spell to boost their adrenaline levels, which made them totally psyched in the battle.

"This should do," Dean smiled and patted the fox. Jeremiah melted slightly at his touch before snapping out of his daze. The two quickly. Went to the offence and began to kill the fiends three times faster than they did before. As Jeremiah dashed to one of the knights on his right, he was caught off guard by another. Luckily, he held both of his daggers in front of him, but the impact sent him flying back, hitting Dean on the way. The two canines landed with a thud, Jeremiah on top of Dean. As they groaned and looked up, they saw another knight already hacking vertically on them. They closed their eyes and braced for the injury. But what they heard was a loud clang. They opened slightly to see a fox in full armor in front of them, holding his sword to block the attack. He threw the attack back and thrust his hand forward, sending a fireball towards the enemy. It exploded on impact, leaving no trace of the last attacker.

"Chris!" Jeremiah smiled as he wagged his tail. He felt a paw suddenly clutching his tail. He turned to see Dean smiling at him.

"I know you're happy, but could you stop wagging your tail? It kept on hitting my face," he chuckled.

"Sorry," Jeremiah blushed as he stood up. He held a paw and helped the wolf on his feet. As the two stood up, three knights behind Dean suddenly emerged and disappeared instantly. The young furs jumped in reaction and looked to the ground. Three arrows landed on the grass where the three knights were standing.

"Are you two alright?"

Jeremiah and Dean turned their heads to see John and Terrance running towards their direction. The wooden bow on John's paw is made by the same type of wood as the arrows on the ground. Terrance was holding his great sword on his right hand with ease as the two reached the young ones.

"Thanks," Jeremiah said. He stopped to smell a certain scent that hanged on the air. He drew close to the arctic wolf and took a whiff off him. It smelled like a lion's musk, rather than the wolf's own scent. "Why do you smell like Ter?"

John blushed deeply and averted his different colored eyes to the ground. Ter was blushing heavily as well.

"I-it's not what you think!" Ter blurted.

Jeremiah gasped slightly. "Did you two have..."

"No!" Ter and John yelled in unison.

"We weren't! We were in bed together when John sensed you're in danger." Ter quickly smacked his head, knowing full well that that last sentence was not a bright one. John just looked down on the ground, blushing. His white fur never did any help at all.

"Somehow, I'm not convinced," Jeremiah chuckled as he scratched a part of John's chest fur. A few dried up semen was stuck on it, causing the two to blush even greatly.

"Hello?" Chris yelled at the group, getting their attention. "A little help would be nice!"

"Sorry!" John yelled as he drew his bow once more. The four arrows on it flew so fast that they pierced the obsidian knights' armors, killing them instantly. Ter hacked the armors here and there, not bothering if they had armors. His blade just went through the black armor like hot knives through a butter. Chris carefully aimed at the gaps of the armor and sliced each one before casting a fireball to destroy them completely. The two boys continued their fighting plan and it worked like a charm. The ones that caught either one of them off guard was killed by John's arrow. After several minutes, the last enemy was cut down by Terrance, ending the fight once and for all.

"That should do it," John smiled. "Well done, everyone."

The group placed down their weapons and huddled.

"Thanks guys," Jeremiah smiled. "Now, about the scent thing..."

Terrance started to blush once more.

"W-What are you talking about!?" he stammered. "I told you, we only cuddled in bed!"

"Oh yeah? Then why is it still fresh? Can you answer that?"

"J-Jeremiah Stone!!" Ter turned dark red under his fur. "Do you have any idea what you are talking about!?"

"A few things, maybe..." Jeremiah chuckled. Terrence just grumbled and looked away from the young fox.

"John, help..." Ter blushed when he looked at the white summoner. But his blushing stopped when he saw the white wolf folding his ears back in submission. The white tail went down between his legs. His eyes were afraid of something in front of him. "Hun?"

Jeremiah noticed the atmosphere change and turned to Dean. The black wolf was growling under his breath and his gaze pierced the white one like daggers.

"Dean?"

"What are you doing here?" he growled.

"I'm here to help..." John answered before he got cut off.

"Do you think I need your help at all!?" he yelled. Everyone else just flinched at the last statement. "Where were you when I really need it!? Where were you five years ago!?"

"I..."

"Did you have that lion inside you? Were you mating with him when you left my parents to die? Can you answer that?"

"Dean..." Jeremiah called.

"Shut up!!" he barked back, causing the fox to jump back in fear.

"Get off my property," he muttered.

"What?"

"I said get off my property!!"

"Dean! Wait!" John tried to grab his arm. Dean's body stiffened and he reacted by landing a blow to the white wolf's muzzle. John landed on his back with a stream of blood running from his nose.

"How many times do I have to tell you, you murderer!?" Dean yelled. Terrance growled and was about to take a step when he felt something tugging his tail. He looked down to the white wolf that looked up to him. He gave a frown and shook his head, as if he was saying no to the lion. Unsatisfied, Ter grumbled, picked up the injured wolf, and escorted him back to their estate. Dean grumbled and turned around to walk to his cottage.

"Dean!" Jeremiah yelled as he followed. Chris just looked between the two people and sighed.

"Well, better get back to the castle. I guess..." he said to himself. He slowly walks towards the castle barracks to train the other army members.

John sat down on the master bedroom bed as he waited for Terrance to come up the stairs. The crimson color of the blood has stained both his shirt and his snow-white fur. He sighed, knowing that the stain will stay there for a while. His ears perked up when he heard heavy footsteps coming towards the room. He looked up to see the lion with a couple of medical rags on his left paw. He gave a weak smile as Ter drew closer to the bed.

"You okay?" the lion asked as he knelt beside the wolf, examining his injuries.

"I'm fine," John smiled back.

"Are you sure?" Ter gave a concerned look as he wiped the bloodstains on the shirt, fur, and nose.

"Of course. Why wouldn't I be?"

"The words he said back there... They're pretty harsh to you."

"Don't worry about it. I'll be fine," John smiled at the lion.

"I hope so..." Terrance gazed back to the wolf. His emerald colored eyes peered deeply into the wolf, showing his concern towards him. "Don't let it get into you, okay?"

"Okay," John said as he peeled of his shirt and handed it to Terrance. The lion gave him a quick peck on his cheek before heading out of the room.

"I'm gonna wash this, okay?" Terrance smiled at him.

"Okay," he replied. As Terrance left the room, he left out a big sigh and stared at his feet.

"Sorry Ter... it already did gotten into me..."
