Reis sets down his coffee and looks at the older panther in front of him. Their conversation still weighing heavily on his mind. "thank you... I'll keep your offer in mind.." He gets up and walks out of the clinic, fairly unhappy. Reis thinks back over the few years as he walks down the street, tucking his paws into the pockets of his sweatshirt. Ever since he was a young pup he'd always felt more at home with the females in his pack than the males and they never let him forget it. They used to ridicule him when he tried to help with the newborn pups over going out and playing sports. He stops in a coffee shop as orders another before starting the walk home to his loving fox. Marcus had always been a close friend until a few years ago Reis told Marc that he felt more than just friendship growing between them. Their relationship is fairly strong and when he told Marc that he wanted a sex change it threw a wrench in their relationship, however it seemed that wasn't going to happen. The panther had told Reis that what he wanted would almost certainly kill him. Now, with a have heart Reis trudged home, tears forming in his eyes from the self hatred that welled up inside him and frustration from not being able to love himself. Reis sighed and decided to take the scenic way home, through the forest outside town as he was tired of other people and wanted to be alone.

While he walked down the winding path, he saw a clearing that he and Marc had camped in a few months ago when it was still summer, but now leaves littered the ground. As it was still daylight out he decided to stop and admire the world around him, getting lost in his thoughts of what he wanted and what Marcus wanted. Reis walked in circles around the clearing occasionally stopping to punch a tree, leaving his paws broken and bloody. After a while Reis sat under a rock noticing it was well after dark and the full moon had risen. He knew he should get home, as that Marc would be worried about him, but at this point he was too upset to face his foxy lover and cried instead, allowing the pain from 20 years of being trapped in a body he hated to drain from him until he passed out. A little while later he realized he had passed out, so he shook his head and got himself up from the rock, his muscles stiff from the cold.

As he looked around, he saw the moon was full so he said a quick prayer to Hecate. Wishing for release and strength to endure the pain of reality. As Reis finishes up the prayer he notices the form of a woman in the treeline. The hairs on his neck stand up and he lets loose a small growl. The woman steps forward into the moonlight and he sees that it's a silver wolf with eyes reversed in color. The outsides are black and the insides are a Sterling silver, tinged with an unnatural glow. She lifts a paw and Reis feels completely at ease. It's then that he hears a velvety voice in his head: What is it that bothers you so my child? The woman steps closer and places a paw on his shoulder, he can see now that her eyes mirror the full moon, and the black around the pupils is filled with tiny specks of light. "I-I...who, are yo-" Shhhhhhhh.... She places a finger on his lips and smiles. Just tell me what ails you so, my child tell me what's causing one as beautiful as you so much pain.. He sighs and gestures to his body. "I feel trapped...I feel like I was born in the wrong body and I hate it" he growls. She touches his cheek and his anger fades. He feels her wrap her arms around him in a tight embrace. Sleep little one. All will be well in the morning. He closes his eyes and nuzzles into her neck, only to find himself on the forest floor, the light of the morning sun shining through the trees his fur damp with morning dew. He gets up and brushes himself off only to find that his fur has gone from a light grey to a dark black, light blue highlights running along his body. He shakes his head thinking he's still asleep, and walks to a nearby stream to splash himself with some water. As he walks along the path birds are just waking from their slumber and begin to sing the songs of morning.

He reaches the stream after a few minutes and splashes his face with the icy cold water. When the water settles he notices his hair is longer and the reflection looking back at him isn't at all his own. Instead the face of a beautiful woman stares back, he reaches up and touches his cheek. The reflection does the same. What the fuck? He thinks to himself. Now fully awake he notices that not only has his face changed but the rest of his body has as well. He runs his paws along his body, feeling the curves of a woman. I-I can't believe it!... there's no way!

She gets up from crouching at the stream's edge, and that's when she notices Marcus's voice echoing through the trees. She heads towards the sound of his lover's voice. She finds him sitting on the rock in the clearing she'd come from. "Marc!" as she says this she's confused by the contrast in vocal range. The fox looks up confused. "Who are you? Have you seen Reis- he's a wolf about your height, slightly muscular build wea-" he pauses. "Wearing the same clothes that you are actually." Reis twists the ring on her left paw. "Marc... it's me." The fox barks out a short laugh and glares at her. "Haha..very fucking funny. Stop fucking with me and tell me if you've seen him I'm not in the mood to joke around. Reis has been missing since last night after he went to-" She cuts him off with a paw. "He went to the clinic yesterday to talk to Dr. Nordstrom about a sex change." Marcus stared at Reis, the hairs on the back of his neck raising. "H-how did you know that? Who the hell are you to know about my baby's personal life, it was supposed to be confidential!" Reis twists the ring off her finger. "Babe....it's me. I don't really understand how this happened but.... this is me now." Marcus stares in disbelief as Reis passes him the ring as proof. "I..." Marcus rushes forward and wraps his arms around her tightly, knocking her to the ground.

They stay that way for a while. Reis raises her head with a confused look in her eyes. "Why'd you believe me?..." Marcus bites his lip. "I... had a dream last night a strange woman with stars in her eyes came to me and told me to look for you in the forest and that I'd know I found you when you gave me the ring." He nuzzles into her neck and sighs. "You know me and my dreams." after awhile they start the walk back home.
