Soon enough, after various odd jobs and one night stands, the time came for James' reassignment. He went into the medical center detailed by the therapist, went up to the front counter and said, "James Scale, I believe I had an appointment set up here."

The receptionist nodded and said, "Ah yes!"

"Are they ready?"

"Of course, right this way!"

He turned and followed them through a door. "So, how in-depth is this operation going to be?"

"Very!"

"To the point of changing the way they did in my time?"

"No just an injection. What shall you become?"

"A draconian. Oh, could there also still be some Awek?"

"Of course, I can do that!"

He nodded, sat down and watched as they went to prepare a needle. Once the needle entered his arm, he screamed with a high pitch. They closed his mouth with force, and he licked their palm. He shut his eyes as they stuck another needle in. Once they came out, he opened one eye and watched them leave. It was then that he noticed the changes to his form.

He grunted when his head hit the ceiling. He opened the door and forced his head through. There before him stood Emily, gaping at the sight. "I was not expecting this much of a transformation."

"Yeah, I can tell."

"Can you give me a hand?"

Emily tried to pull him by both hands out of the room. However, he was quickly gaining weight. Against all the odds, however, James was dislodged. Emily jumped to the side as James lumbered through the hall. On the way out, James caught a glimpse of his cloaca.

"I think the size is a bit much."

On the way to the bridge, James became stuck in the doorway. "And I zhought he was already tall," commented Tacit.

"Really," asked Emily. "Then again everything is taller than you."

James sighed and asked, "How am I supposed to pilot the ship like this?"

Emily looked up and replied, "Think I know?"

"I'm going back down."

James left through the door, went down to the airlock and went back outside. Immediately, he headed back to the hospital getting himself stuck in the door. "I need to see someone!"

Someone ran over to him, and he asked, "Can you make me the normal height of an Awek?"

The cat nodded and said, "Of course."

"Good, because I did not alter the Red Comet to accommodate something this big."

Then, another cat came with a syringe in hand. James offered an arm, and they took it and stuck the needle in. As he shrunk, he came all the way inside. "Sorry about that."

As James stretched, the male doctor cat said, "You can go now."

"Thank you."

"You are welcome."

The Red Comet drifted through space en route to the artificial world RCM. Along the way, James turned to the rest of the crew and said, "So, I'm wondering if I should get another name, one for when I'm ah, like this."

"I think so."

"Question is what kind of name."

Emily shrugged, and James muttered, "Maybe, something similar to my given name. At least then, there would be some connection."

"Or not," replied Emily.

"Why not?"

"Just think."

"Okay?"

"People stupid!"

"I'm not following. Oh, never mind, I'll think of a second name. Red Comet, how close are we to RCM?"

"Four hundred miles."

With that, James stretched and said, "Hunker down everyone, it's going to be a long ride. Red Comet, initiate autopilot."

James stood up and left the bridge, with Emily behind. "Well, this is going to take some getting used to."

James opened a door and went into a room. He sprawled out on the bed and shut his eyes.
