Chapter 1 Black Market Showdown
"Give me that you mut!" a big fox boy grabbed Kyo's portion of the mornings kill and pushed him to the ground. Kyo hit the hard ground face first and small clouds of dust rose to into the air. He wiped his eyes and moved his black locks from his view. "Stupid half breed, that's why you ain't got no damn parents" the boy said as he took a bite out of Kyo's portion. Kyo wanted to punch him, God he wanted too. But he knew all to well, one of the elder leaders took him into the village when he found him wondering the road. He stayed quiet, half wolf he was just a mut. He rose from the ground and wiped the dirt off his face. "That's what I thought" the fox snarled. Kyo stood ready for the next punch. He was use to this and it wasn't going to get any better. He took a deep breath and closed his eyes.
All of a sudden he heard a howl of pain, Kyo shot his eyes open instantly. The boy was on the ground clutching the left side of his face, howling as small blood drops dripped down his hands. Above him stood a small girl that couldn't be more than a year younger then Kyo himself.
"I saw that!!!" she screamed and kicked the boy in the stomach. "how dare you bully him!! Have you no shame?!" as she kicked again, small blood drops flew from her long nails. That's when it hit him, what was a small girl doing with such long nails? The fox ran off whimpering with tears down his face from the scratch mark left above his left eye. They weren't deep and would heal soon enough. Kyo didn't know what to think or do, he stood there stunned. She wore a small torn jacket that had a hood. Her long hair cascaded around her face. She turned and smiled a big grin. That's when Kyo noticed, her face. Similar to a humans but her eyes were amber. She was a half breed. She raised her hand and fiercely pointed at Kyo. "You! You look like you need a friend!" she screamed. Kyo stood completely shocked, was she serious? she had just attacked someone and now she acted like some giddy school girl.
"My name is Luna" she reached out her hand. Kyo stared. What? Who was she? Where did she come from? It didn't make any sense. She tilted her head in confusion and giggled. She grabbed Kyo' hand and shook it, "You're my new best friend!" she shrieked wildly. Oh god what did Kyo get himself into.
10 years later
"God dammit Luna I said no!" Kyo let out a frustrated sigh and ran his large hand through his thick hair. "you need to tell him! Joabi will understand! He loves you no matter what!" Luna stood there wide eyes, her amber eyes dazzled bewitchingly as ever. Kyo knew he shouldn't have told her, god dammit. Luna has been his best friend for 10 years. No matter what happened she had always been on his side. Finally, he decided to tell her, his secret. Kyo noticed things differently when he was a just a small boy. He had always been interested in the other males around the camp. He finally told Luna everything. She was the one person he could trust. He was gay. He hadn't been too sure as a boy but now as a young man he was certain. Of course, Luna took it splendidly. She always did, that cat was too damn positive all the fucking time. Even when he told her his life secret , something that he had never uttered. Something that he held onto so tightly she acted like this. Wide eye, smiling, determined to have him tell Joabi. God dammit.
"For the last time no, I mean it Luna, our friendship depend on this" Kyo said sternly. Luna scrunched up her face. He had her now. She would never do anything to ruin their friendship. She treated him just like a little brother even though he was one year older. Kyo had just turned 18 and Luna 17, they both stayed with Joabi, one of the village elders.
Right now they were traveling with a group of hunters from the village, Kyo was hunting and Luna followed them like she did every time. She was very good at catching small game. Suddenly they both heard a scream. It was Teare, a newly trained hunter. Luna dashed in the direction of the agonizing scream. Kyo was right behind her, "Dammit Luna slow down you don't know what's happened!" suddenly Luna stopped. Her cat eyes wide in horror. Teare lay dead, his face staring in pain. His head severed from his body. "well, well, well" A coyote smirked as he licked the blood from his fingers. He whistled and a few more furs came out. "looks like I found a couple of half breeds" he smiled with razor sharp teeth. "They would do quite well at the market, especially the little pussy cat" one said eyeing Lunar. Kyo stepped in front of Lunar and stood strong. "Cute" the coyote huffed. Before Kyo realized the coyote was face to face "you never
stood a chance" and then Kyo blacked out hearing Luna scream.
Kyo woke up with a major headache, his eyes were covered with a rag and his hands were tied with a tight chain. "Next up, a brother and sister pair, aren't they adorable!" the announcer yelled. Kyo's rag was ripped off and he was pushed onstage. When he looked he was in front of a live audience. He looked over and saw Luna struggle as they hauled her onstage. Her mouth was gagged and her hands and feet were tied with rope. She fought against the tight ropes her eyes glittered with hatred the crowed roared! This wasn't just any crowed these were furs. And from the looks of it there were many different types. "Do we have a bid for the feisty little cat?" the announcer smirked. Men and women screamed! "5,000" one yelled. "7,000" a fierce roar shouted. The announcer grinned with satisfaction.
Suddenly a young male walked on stage, he looked to be a mix between a human and a leopard. He whispered into the announcer's ear and his eyes motioned to a black carriage. Kyo couldn't see anything in the pitch black carriage. The announcer handed Lunar's rope to the young leopard and he pulled Luna off stage. "Sold!" his voice bellowed. Luna's eyes grew wide, sold? Sold? Sold?! She pulled back on her ropes struggling to wiggle free, the Leopard yanked her down to the ground. Kyo jerked forward by instinct but was held tight. He looked back to see a gaint bear held onto his chains with eyes that would kill. Luna was thrown into the carriage and the Leopard climbed up and cracked his whips on the horses that pulled it. The carriage rode off. "Next we have a nice half breed wolf" the announce yelled. The crowed roared once again! "I want him, I want him!!!" a little girl shrieked. "daddy buy him!!!" she begged. Kyo stared out into the crowed. Suddenly arrows shot everywhere. The crowd screamed and some ran off. Other took a fighting stance ready to take on what was coming. Kyo heard a howl and a shriek of pain. The announcers was shot in the side of his neck he feel dead against the floor. The bear threw Kyo's chain aside, that strength alone sent Kyo against the wall. Furs, furs in dark clothing and battle armor attacked the bear. Firing arrowed until on swung from behind and ax the bear in the back. Kyo stood up frantically looking for an escape route, suddenly he was yanked by his chain. He looked up to see a black panther sitting on a large horse, "Ride!" the command was bellowed and the panther took off. Kyo watched the chain disappear like a snake in the grass and was yanked on the ground. The panther motioned to a nearby tiger and Kyo was picked up by the chains on his hands and thrown into a dirty wagon with a few other furs, half breeds, and humans.
What the fuck was going on?
