Morning

A little add-on to the previous story.

Just without all the, you know, sexy stuff.

Light trickles in through the window like small, welcoming caresses of warmth, pricking gently against the skin through fur. The gentle movements and rustle of bed sheets wakes me from light sleep. Having woken earlier to enjoy certain... night-time amusements... I could do little bit lay there smiling, a small eye roll accompanying the sight of erotic fluids upon... well, both of us really. Except... something is different. The sound of light movement to my left, yet the weight of a form upon sheets on my right. Which could only mean...

"Mummy?"

I pause, still looking ahead. Of course, the door is open. Kyano had shut it when she came in. I curse myself for missing it.

"Mummy!" The voice is louder now, almost indignant, though the high-pitch of youth lent it to more of a whine. I turn over, frown slightly at her as I put a claw to my lips. "Shh! Luna, mumma's still sleeping." I motion to the sleeping harpy behind me. Her eyes widen a little when she makes the connection, and puts her wings over her small mouth. A harpy, just like her mother, with light blue wings feathering her sides, and small, slightly-yellow scales adorning her talons. She looks at my apologetically, so I lean over until my face is near hers. "Whispering, cutie. You can whisper."

"Okay!" She giggles, though her whisper is nearly as loud as her normal voice. Her eyes aren't quite fully open yet, and they squint away from the light streaming through the thin, lace curtains we use when the heavier, darker ones won't do. She stretches up, wings splayed in the air, her little blue sleeping shirt riding up slightly as she yawns. I can't help but smile at the adorable display, but I know that soon the tiredness will clear, and the games will begin. Or at least, the casual activities of sprinting down hallways, careening into walls and throwing toys around the place will begin. Ah, the frivolity of youth.

"Mummy." Luna demands my attention again, and I shake my head lightly to cast away my brief reverie.

"Darling?"

"I wanna see bruhva!"

I smile. The two girls spend half their time playing and the other half staring at the egg. Then again, so did I. I slide gently out of bed, bring one of the sheets and wrapping it around myself. Sure, nudity was nothing new in the household, but perhaps certain other... aspects were best kept quiet about. For now, anyway. I pad silently to the side of the room, Luna quietly copying my pawsteps. Another soon joins us; Wynter, the little lioness cutie, who of course was waiting by the doorway. She was much more shy than her sister, and generally let Luna do the talking. Despite her young age - Luna was a good two years older - Wynter was already showing an artistic side. I know every parents says that, and obviously she wasn't a Rembrandt or Picasso, but her little works were just so... pretty. Different. And when she made up little poems for us - she couldn't write them down, so they were fleeting glimpses of beauty - I couldn't help but video them. Kyano didn't understand many, considering Wynter spoke much better in Lion than she did in the Common Language, but they were poetic none the less.

I feel a tugging at my side, and Luna frowns at me in good spirit. I flash her a smile and lean down, and she holds her wings up. Grasping her sides, I pull her up and onto my lap, and Wynter soon follows, a cutie on each knee. There the egg sits, safe in its bundle of blankets. Primarily white, but with a slight green tone to it. A perfectly healthy griffin egg. The girls cheer silently, and when I move them closer they tentatively hug it, pressing their ears close as they listen intently for the merest sign of life. For every little heartbeat or movement they hear, they respond with a quiet little coo or purr. Though I can't wait to listen myself, I wait patiently by its side, watching them all with a smile. When Luna finally pulls away, I ruffle her short little plumage of hair. "It's amazing to think that's where you came from, eh Luna?"

Luna looks a little confused. "I... I did?" She chirps softly, and I nod.

"Yup." I whisper. "After mumma laid it I had to wait the longest time, but finally you broke out and bam! There you were! I think we even still have the egg shell somewhere. Cleaned, obviously."

"Do you ha-haff mine?" Wynter questions, and I raise an eyebrow. "Your... egg?"

"Yeah!"

"It... uh... you didn't come from an egg, dear."

"I... didn't?" Wynter begins to look a little sad, so I gather her up in my arms and kiss her head, taking a moment to groom her ears.

"Birds and reptiles have eggs, cub." I giggle between licks. "But you're a mammal!"

"A mahma?"

"A mammal."

"Mahmmarl?"

"That's right!" I chuckle, forgetting our policy of whispering.

"Mahmmarl!"

"Mammahl!" Luna chimes in.

"Indeed. And..." I hesitate, thinking of the best way to phrase it. "And because you're a mammal, you... well, you had a 'live birth.' And boy, you took your time too. I was... there for every minute." Ah, the memories. Best forgotten, probably, though it was certainly worth every minute.

"Come ou... out where?" Wynter asks, head tilted and ears perked to one side.

"Eh? I, uh..." I blush slightly. "Well... from a girl area."

"Girhl?" Wynter frowns, but Luna just giggles, poking her arm. "From the boobies!"

They both burst out laughing, and I can only blink. "Uh... yeah, sure." From behind I hear the sound of blankets moving, but when I turn my adorable harpy is still asleep. Though it reminds me I'm meant to be quiet, so I motion to the door, remembering to whisper. "Quick, let's go before we wake mumma up. Shower and then breakfast, and then maybe you can go shopping with daddy."

The shower turns on in a great utterance of beckoning warmth. Since there isn't really much to strip I make sure the water isn't too hot and then pop the kids in. They immediately begin splashing around, so I watch them jump and flick water at each other for a while until they tire and I can hold them still for long enough to wash them down. Afterwards, I dry them off and they dress in their own taste, Luna with short shorts and a thin tanktop, Wynter in jeans and a light shirt, with a jacket over for good measure. They look like they come from two very different climates. Next, I bring them both down to the kitchen and sit them down at the table before making small bowls of cereal. As the two to eat and gossip about whatever kids gossip about, I clean up the plates from yesterday. When I bend down to put a tray in the cupboard, I feel a hand touch my waist, and a deep, smooth voice grace my ears.

"Mornin' beautiful."

"Morning handsome." I stand up and turn, leaning against the bench. A Zebra, a head or so taller than me, gives me a cocky grin. I raise an eyebrown and cross my arms, smirking. "Or at least, handsome when you deal with that mane." It's a mess, fresh from sleep, sticking out in different direction. He steps back, looking hurt, though it's clear he's acting it up.

"Hey, don't criticise me. Especially not at this time, I just woke up."

"That's precisiely what I mean." I take his shoulders and turn him around, giving his tight butt a quick pat as I push him up the stairs. "And you can take the girls shopping afterward."

"What?" He slumps his shoulder, groaning. "Ugh, clothes_shopping. With _girls."

"Yay!" The two cubs giggle in unison from the table.

Yeah, so this is just a continuation of the previous story, written just by me this time. Is there anything else..? Eh, not really. Oh yeah, what's everyone's opinions on cub stuff?

Live a good life people ^-^
