Suzy noticed a remarkable improvement in Mylo's outlook once he began to hang out with Merun. It always brought a smile to her face when she would watch them talk about various things going on in their lives. Often times the large, striped husky would try and bring her into the conversations, but she often bowed out and just let them be together. She didn't mind being a third wheel sometimes, especially when it came to her mate's mental health getting better.

Merun had insisted that they stay with him at his apartment, that he had a second bedroom where they could sleep in, but Mylo declined. He and Suzy already had reservations at a nearby hotel in one of their more luxury suites, and that info made Merun laugh. "My dingy pad isn't good enough for you eh? You get magic jizz and suddenly I'm the lower class?" he teased and gave the larger dog a playful wink.

"Hey, you leave my magic jizz and high standards out of it, I just don't wanna keep you up all night with how much sex I plan on having," Mylo fired back and stuck out his tongue.

"And you wouldn't even invite me?" Merun gasped dramatically and feigned shock. "I don't get to experience some of this magic jizz of yours?" The two devolved into guffaws and Suzy couldn't believe how relaxed and at ease her mate was. It made her heart swell with joy when he would joke and laugh like this.

Mylo and Suzy both knew that Steven's Point was a clothing optional city, but that still didn't cushion the shock when they began to see the many individuals in various states of dress. Meurn acted like it was the most natural thing in the world and even admitted that he'd be in his own comfortable state but thought that a nude first impression probably wouldn't be the best for when he met the red panda.

Even as the three stepped out into the parking lot, so many people were comfortably walking about with little to no clothing, and sparsely populated among them were people that were fully clothed. It seemed that no one really cared, and that notion was relieving in a way.

Merun took the day off from working at the bar that he owned to show Mylo and Suzy around Steven's Point. Together they went out to eat and even caught a tour at one of the city's museums. There were many places to see and plenty of parks to visit. The local college often hosted events on the weekend that the public was welcomed to attend and participate in and obviously there was no shortage of clubs and bars to go to in the evening.

When the day began to end, Merun accompanied the two to their hotel and was surprised with the level of service they treated themselves to. "I've never been here before," Merun remarked as he and Mylo stood out on the balcony of the seventh story of the hotel and took in the sights. Steven's Point bordered the ocean, and Mylo's room was allowed an uninterrupted expanse of blue.

The distant sky was turning pink as they took up a seat around a small table on the balcony, a glass of expensive wine set in front of each of them. "You know, I've lived in this city for a couple years now and I've never really bothered to go see the ocean," Merun admitted as he stroked a finger against his chin.

"Guess we'll have to go while we're here then," Mylo said with a smile as he gazed at the horizon. His paws were held behind his head as he leaned back in his seat. Suzy was in the other room lying down, allowing the two old friends to get reacquainted once again.

"Yeah, we can add that to the long list of things we can do while you're here," the inverted husky chuckled and cleared his throat as he leaned forward towards the table. It was a more serious change, and Mylo noticed it right away, likely due to a long lost remnant of their days as SCAR soldiers. "You had mentioned before that there was something weighing on your mind. Did you maybe want to talk about it?"

Mylo's face immediately shifted from its smile to something that was much more serious now. He folded his paws on his lap and he gave a solemn nod. "Yeah, there was," he sighed and then glanced back inside of his suite, the position of the balcony allowed him an angle where he could see in at his bedroom. He stared lovingly at Suzy for a while, and his heart swelled as he watched her be in such a peaceful state.

When he turned back and met his former captain's gaze, he began to speak. "Suzy means the absolute world to me. She was the first person I fell in love with after coming out of SCAR and we've been together ever since she answered my ad for a house sitter a couple years ago." Mylo folded his paws on the table and looked down into them. "It's a one in a million shot that someone like us is able to have children. I knew that I wouldn't want to squander this gift so I went into the business of it. But the biggest thing was that I knew that when I wanted, I could have my own children."

Mylo paused for a moment and his thumbs twitched as he played with his fingers. He was nervous to continue but Merun didn't speak, instead choosing to simply wait for the other husky to continue when he was ready. Eventually he did. "I was so excited about that fact...but then came the news that Suzy couldn't have cubs. It was during a time that we had been trying and nothing ever happened so we went to the doctor. There was no procedure we could have done or any sort of medication we could have tried. Ever since then I've just kind of been...angry...I don't know." Mylo took a deep breath and then let out a sigh.

Merun was nodding along as he listened and frowned when he heard the other's final words. "I wasn't expecting anger to be the emotion that would come out of that," the inverted husky said and rested his arm over the table.

"What makes me angry was that we have given more to this world than anyone else. We served in SCAR all our lives, sacrificed and put our lives down for the betterment of everything. It just feels like life keeps taking with no intent on giving back. Where is the justice in that? I beat the extreme odds and have made a business out of having children with anyone that I want, except the one woman that I actually want to have children with."

Mylo could feel his rage building the more he expelled about the subject. He felt his muscles tensing and he was fidgeting with his fingers more and more. He wanted to fight something or someone, to let out his growing fury in a way that was a bit destructive. Just thinking about this subject had his teeth being grit, but when he looked back up to the other canine, every bit of his anger melted away.

Merun was smiling in a sincere way, like he understood what Mylo was going through. It disarmed him so much that he felt deflated and lost for a moment. "Life doesn't owe us anything, Mylo. We were forced into a bad situation through most of our lives and we persevered, but we hardly remember any of it now, and the stuff we do remember isn't exactly the most pleasant. Do you still have those nightmares?" he asked evenly.

Mylo slowly nodded his head. "Yeah. They've been happening a lot more recently."

"Those nightmares occur more when you're stressed out," Merun explained and then leaned closer over the table. "But may I speak freely, Mylo?"

"Uh, of course," the larger dog mumbled.

"I don't think you actually want children. I think you're afraid of losing Suzy," Merun explained and smiled fondly. Mylo stiffened at the bold claim, and he opened his mouth to refute it but hesitated as the notion sank in further. "When life delivers these kinds of sobering blows to the things that we hold deer, we begin to think of the worse things that could happen to us. In your case, it's losing Suzy and having no remnant of her in your life. You're focusing too much on the wrong thing."

Mylo began to stroke over his own paws as he listened and his gaze turned momentary back to the sleeping red panda in the other room. Merun continued, "Is there any real danger of you losing her right now?"
