Excitable news! An observatory has opened up nearby and Tellah is more than happy to wake up the gang early in the morning, of course, only Frae is really into the idea of getting up for Tellah's sake. Troubles will come with a kiss and more that may follow.

Around team twist's home, a peaceful morning emerged. The sunlight peaked above the horizon, warm orange light filtering through the blue of what had once been the evening. The soft chill of the previous night mixed and melded with the warmth radiating from the morning sun. Team twist's house was a modest affair at the edge of Cog Town made of stone and metal just like most of the other buildings. A little red door led into the house and their mailbox wore a tiny sign that said, "Drop any non-urgent requests here." Each room in the team's home had a window, and luckily enough, Frae's window faced away from the rising sun. The curly furred braixen enjoyed basking in the bluish semi-darkness of the early morning before things got bright and business began. In his bed, he was a pile of yellow fur with black legs and a white crest of fluff on his chest. Both of his ears were drawn back and his eyes were closed with his face buried in a pillow. Being able to dream just a few more hours, or just enjoy the comfort of his bed meant that he'd be nice and perky for the later morning despite the fact that he wasn't at his best in the early hours. Even if he did wake up early, lying there in his bed while occasionally turning against the soft, plush pillows was a paradise he could afford. Sure, there were jobs to do, people to rescue and places to explore, but that could wait for just a bit while he got his extra z's. However, sometimes there were mornings in which Frae had no choice but to wake up, due to one thing or another, and most of the time one thing or another was one of his partners.

Through the morning that had once been so peaceful, the sound of wood on wood cracked. One of Frae's eyes opened as he heard the sound of Tellah yelling, "Frae! Mino won't come with me! She refuses to even budge out of bed and won't even listen to what I have to say! She even threatened to attack me if I didn't get out of her room! I can't believe she would just do that! Get up get up! There are things to do!"

Tellah, his darling friend, partner, and leader of the team. She had a bright mind for inventions and all sorts of gadgets that helped them out in the field. Sometimes those gadgets blew up, and sometimes she wasn't the best leader, but for the most part, she did well. When he gathered the strength, he brought his chin up onto the pillow and yawned, "Okay, okay. Tell me, I'm listening. Can't promise I can get up right now, but hey, my ears are wide awake at least thanks to you."

The kecleon paused, her eyes blinking before she looked back at the door still hanging ajar and then back at him with a crooked smile, "Sorry, sorry, but I'm really excited and Mino just sort of brushed me off and it...it made me upset which sort of exacerbated the excitement afterward. I just sort of also thought that you might immediately tell me to get out or something like that."

When a pause presented itself, Frae controlled a yawn and spoke up, "Eh, not my style. If you wake me up this early then it must be important, or well, it'll be really important to you, so, spill."

Though taken aback for just a few seconds, Tellah soon returned to her excited inflection, "So! The observatory outside of town is opening up. The Rolling Gears Observatory. I don't really know who runs it, I only learned enough to know that they study stars, cosmic energy, and psychic energy. I am absolutely into learning more about all those subjects and asking questions about how their telescope was built! Can you imagine? A look at the type of facility that can study the stars and much much more? Of course, I have to go! But I..." She then blinked, the excitement slowly shrinking from her face into a little frown, "I'd rather not go alone, but I understand if it is a bit boring for others. I really do think I annoyed Mino too much, I...I should have asked later, but I couldn't help it."

Frae chuckled, "You're fine. I'm sure Mino will be better after some sleep and she'll be apologizing to you, and hey, if you're really feeling bad about waking Mino up, then you can take care of cooking when we get back right? Anyway, about this trip. I'd be glad to go."

Tellah tilted her head and spoke with a genuine concern that made her sound small, "What? Just like that? Nothing for you? I know you're not interested in this kind of thing. You don't have to force yourself."

With a yawn, Frae answered, calm as could be, "Because I like you and I like going out with friends. More than that, I like seeing you riled up and passionate. Makes me energetic."

"If that's the case, then why are you still lying down." The kecleon said with a little pout.

All he could do was snicker like an idiot while responding, "Because I'd rather not flash you. It's the morning Tellah. I just woke up."

She huffed, "I don't see--" Understanding struck her silent and the color of the scales on her cheeks flushed red before returning to normal. She then took a deep breath to calm herself and turned around before continuing on, "Got it! My mistake! I appreciate the decency...But you should know that I'm not bothered by simple things like that."

Calling Tellah's bluffs was fun to do and though he really didn't mind being woken up early by her antics, he supposed a little payback would be nice, "So I should have just gotten up when you entered the room and bared it all? Would you have been able to explain what you wanted face to face with me like that? Really? You fluster easy enough."

"Well! Maybe I do fluster easy." Tellah started, "But I'll have you know that my mind is entirely focused on what I desire, and what I desire is to further my knowledge, so I ask again just out of courtesy, will you come with me today?"

While she spoke, Frae slipped out of bed with his cock in full view. The shaft poked out of the sheath and it wasn't all there, but it was enough to give Tellah a little surprise. When he was a few steps from her he yawned aloud and said, "Yup, just let me get my things."

"Terrifi--" Tellah turned and when she saw him standing and that his cock was peaking out of the sheathe her pupils constricted and her cheeks burned with orange and red. Both of her hands came up to her cheeks and she squeaked, "I see! If you need some time then I could uh, wait outside for you, or here, or wherever you want."

"Wherever I want? Is that you coming on to me Tellah?" He said with a grin. Of course, he could be a bit nicer and just tell her to run off, but seeing her flustered was great, besides, maybe this was his chance to finally have a little fun of a certain kind with Tellah.

The normally green-scaled kecleon suddenly turned red all over like a beacon and she stammered, "N-no! I'm just saying, you're in charge here! This is your room, your place, not mine! I'm just a, uh, a guest and intruder."

He had never seen her go full red before. It was equal parts amusing and concerning, to say the least, but maybe just a bit more amusing. Stepping to her side he gave her cheek a soft tap and found that her scales were still cool to the touch and not hot like he somehow expected. When she squeaked and turned away from his touch he chuckled, "Well, if you want to stick around you can help me get ready."

"Sure, sure! Anything to expedite this process I guess. Uh, just tell me where your things are and I'll just help you get ready." She chirped while looking around.

Frae yawned and put an arm around her shoulder with the intent to push this little game along, but at the same time, he felt a genuine burning in his body that was expressed in his words, "You can help me with this morning wood. A kiss, while I take care of myself, won't be too much right? Or maybe that tongue of yours could go to good use."

When he finished talking, his own cheeks were flustered beneath the fur and he realized maybe a bit too late that he was going too far too quickly. He looked at Tellah who was just standing there frozen now, and he wondered if she was okay or if he had said something that truly upset her. When he thought that she might be paralyzed with uncertainty or something, he gave her a gentle jostle with the intent to apologize and figure out what was wrong. Tellah turned toward him with a speed that he hadn't expected and he froze. Her hand lashed across the air and he closed his eyes expecting a firm slap, but instead, nothing happened. When he opened his eyes, her own soft blue stared back. Very gingerly she touched his cheek and at that point, he noticed that her scales were back to green.

Frae blinked, unsure of what to expect at this point. He had said something stupid with the intent of getting a reaction out of her, and yet, he found himself wanting exactly what he teased her about. After a few silent seconds, she leaned in to plant her mouth against his. The red returned to her cheeks and he felt the digits at his cheek pressing as if she needed to clutch onto something. His own paw came up to return the motion and he pressed into the kiss. When they parted, Tellah's blue eyes which had seemed steady began to shake. He felt a pang of fear touch his heart as he wondered if she might start crying and he reached his other paw up toward her.

The kecleon grabbed onto her blue bandana tightly and turned away with a gasp of breath. She avoided his touch and began to speak aloud, "Right! What I wanted to say. Yes. I needed to say something. If you're going to mess with me. Then I'll mess with you right back. So! I'll leave you with just that kiss and nothing else since I know that you're just messing with me." Frae opened his mouth to say something, a shadow of a word coming out before Tellah continued, "I'll be waiting outside! If...If you ever say things like that again, please make sure that you're actually serious and not just trying to make me look like an idiot."

With that, she stalked away leaving Frae to stand there with a mixed sense of passion, and regret. Once the door was shut, Frae felt his heartbeat start to pick back up, his body moving. He fished around for the fiddler's cap he wore. The braixen found his hat on the floor in the room and brought it up to eye level where he looked at it. He turned it over to see that his team badge was sitting there with a blue gem in the center. It made him think of Tellah's eyes, the way they shook after their kiss parted. He loved Tellah, he loved Mino too, he cared for both of them in ways that they would probably never know, and this morning he had toyed with this feeling. Mino would have probably giggled and enjoyed the game, but Tellah was a different sort, a different type of thinker, and he'd have to make it up to her somehow. No. He was determined to make it up to her. With a huff, he took hold of his hat by the brim of his hat and popped it onto his head. Goal in mind, stick in his tail, he found his satchel and slung it over his shoulder before moving to meet up with Tellah outside.

Tellah stood outside their home with her arms crossed and her head tilted up toward the sky. Her tail curled and uncurled and her scales were perfectly green. At her hip, she had her own satchel ready and when Frae stepped out of the door she didn't say a thing. Frae stepped to her side and put a paw on her shoulder, the kecleon jumping in place as she looked to the side and at him with sudden surprise, "Hey sunshine!" The braixen said with a grin, "We're headin' over to the observatory for some study of stars and stuff right?"

Confusion touched her expression for a moment and she opened her mouth before shutting it and then opening it again to speak softly, "Frae...I figured you'd take a bit longer or well uh, stay home."

Frae snorted, "And leave you on your own? No way. Besides, I have to make up for my flub." When she tilted her head, Frae continued before she could interrupt, "I toyed with the wrong type of feeling. I like seeing you flustered and I like you. I shouldn't jerk you around like that. Thanks for the kiss, though, that I did enjoy."

Tellah furrowed her brow and looked down at the ground for a moment before sighing with her eyes shut, "Okay, water under the bridge. I uh, enjoyed the kiss too, but there is an observatory to go to, right?" She then started to walk forward and away from his touch, a small smile curling up her mouth, "It'll be a date." The kecleon said quietly before starting forward at a quicker pace.

Blinking and unsure if he heard correctly, Frae paused. Maybe she had meant something else, but he was sure she had said date. He wasn't really sure what that entailed but he started to follow anyway, realizing that through all of his waiting, Tellah was leaving him behind. With the air between them cleared, for now, they walked together toward the observatory. On their walk through the woods, Frae didn't ask about her use of the word date, instead opting to ask her for more details about where they were going. Of course, Tellah was more than excited to breach that topic again.

"An observatory as I said before." She began with the sort of wonder reserved for legends and magic, "They built an observatory just outside of town on a hill and one with a telescope powerful enough to look at the stars. There are others in our region like it, but this is the first one that has been so near to us. Today is when they're opening and when anyone who is interested will get the chance to share in the information collected. Supposedly, there are certain objects we can see even during the day. The other things they do there, I've only heard of in passing, but a chance to actually see the stars up close myself through a powerful telescope is enough to make me want to go there." While she spoke her hands were presented and splayed out toward the sky as if she were dotting the stars, her eyes bright beneath the sun. He only nodded his head occasionally with a little smile, and maybe that wasn't enough because she soon asked, "I'm not...I'm not talking your ear off right? I know I said most of that already, but the point is--"

Frae interrupted her to finish, "That you're extremely passionate and super into getting to the observatory to take a look at their facility and maybe what they can show us. Can't say that I'm the most interested in that type of thing, but hey, tagging along with you has always been fun. Besides, I like listening to you."

Tellah looked at him squarely before a big smile formed on her face, "You're not kidding about that, are you? You've said that before and I thought you were either joking or just being nice, but if that wasn't true then you wouldn't be here." She then sighed and looked forward, "Like Mino."

He snorted and draped an arm around her gingerly while they walked, "Mino just isn't a morning person. She likes you just as much as I do. We both love you, and I'm sure she'd be happy to go out on a date with you sometime too."

The expectation was a firm shove in the side and some choice words, but instead, Frae felt her cheek leaning against his. Nothing else needed to be said as they made their way toward the observatory pressed together and smiling. When they arrived at the observatory, the morning air had warmed enough to make the trek up the hill tiresome. Frae paused at the top of the hill to lean down and huff while grabbing onto his knees. Looking toward his side, he saw that Tellah was in a similar state.

Tellah spoke through panting breaths, "I shouldn't have rushed, I know, but I the excitement was palpable, plus I thought the hill was smaller than that."

Frae sighed and controlled a bit of laughter, "That's fine, but personally if we're being winded by a hill I think that we need to make this trip more often. It'll be great training for dungeons."

That caught a snicker from the kecleon, "I suppose you're right! We're explorers, brave and strong! Felled both by a hill. Anyway, would you look at that!"

Frae straightened and looked up to see the observatory looming above him. He had seen it from the bottom of the hill, but up close he could truly appreciate how massive it was. The Rolling Gears Observatory was a mass of metal and gears that towered above most anything that the braixen had ever seen. Held up by most of the other portions of the building, was a dome with a massive telescope jutting out of the top. There were a few other structures connected to the main edifice, but the telescope called and begged for attention.

While his eyes were taking in the sights, Tellah had grown impatient and grabbed his paw to start dragging him forward toward the doors, "Come on! I can't wait to see how it looks inside, and to ask questions!"

Though he stumbled a little while being pulled along, he shared his partner's enthusiasm. It wasn't necessarily that he found it all that interesting that there were various strange things being studied within, but rather that her own excitement had been rubbing off on him throughout the entire way, and as he said before with full honesty, he enjoyed being around her. Tellah's face was locked in a mixture of childlike glee which spread a bloom of energy through his body that made him feel like he could take on the world. He was just as ready to enter the building as she was when they both stopped at the double glass doors leading into the observatory.

The doors slid open without their touch and both pokemon stepped inside. A white interior awaited them with models of what Frae assumed to be other planets. A stark silence hung in the air until both Frae and Tellah began to walk, their steps echoing in the lobby. Something pricked at the back of his neck, something that made his hackles rise as they continued on. His ears perked up and he swore he heard what sounded like something falling somewhere nearby. When he turned to tell Tellah his hunch, the door to their left slammed open.

Both turned and stepped toward the source of the noise. At the open doorway, a medicham stood with bright red eyes darting from side to side, pink skin dotted with sweat. When they noticed that they were being watched by Tellah and Frae, they grimaced and tucked the box they were holding behind them. Tellah and the medicham froze, watching one another with narrowed eyes while Frae moved toward the side. If it was a misunderstanding then they could all talk it out afterward, but at the moment he suspected that he shouldn't let this person slip by. The medicham reacted to the movement by not trying to slip through the gap that they left but charging straight toward Tellah. To her credit, the kecleon didn't lock up or try to get out of the way, instead, she opened her mouth and brought her hands forward. A ball of black formed in the air in front of her and she sent it flying with a push. Medicham made no show of fear and instead hopped over the ball before throwing the box at Tellah. She gasped and caught the box out of instinct just as the medicham ducked under for a sweeping kick, but a team worked as such and Frae was ready to fight as well. Fire would be too dangerous and so he brought his stick up and focused. A ball of bright purple light appeared at the tip of his stick before a beam of light fired off at the medicham. Just as the medicham managed to trip up Tellah with the sweeping kick, the psychic beam struck the fighting-psychic-type hybrid and drove them back and onto their side.

Tellah had fallen onto her rear thanks to the sweeping kick, but she was already getting up with the box still in her arms as Frae approached the fallen medicham with his stick held aloft. The medicham struggled to their feet and spat at the ground. Telleh backed away slowly with the box in her arms while Frae stepped forward. At the same time, a new actor appeared from the open door, a Hypno with wide black eyes, chest rising up and down rapidly as he stopped at the door to survey the scene with a yellow hand steadying himself against the doorway. Both Frae and Tellah made the mistake of looking toward the distraught hypno, which was just enough time for the medicham to rush around them and out the front door with a kick that shattered the glass and allowed them to escape down the hill.

Frae was about to move to give chase, but he heard the hypno near them calling out, "Thank the stars you both were here."

Both members of Team Twist looked at one another before Tellah looked over at the hypno with a smile, "No trouble sir. We were just coming here for a visit and figured something was wrong. I'm uh, guessing that this box is yours."

The hypno rushed to where Tellah was to take hold of the box and he exclaimed, "Yes! Something indeed had gone wrong! A thief had stolen one of our most precious pieces, an orb that fell from the cosmos that we collected. But enough of that, please, come let us return this and see to my partner."

Before they could ask anything else, the hypno took hold of the box gingerly and turned to start walking through the door he had come through with a sort of rushed walk. Both Frae and Tellah gave one another a look but shrugged and followed along. On their way through the halls of the observatory, the hypno explained that the thief had been pretending to be someone interested in examining their equipment and labs. Of course, how could he have expected someone to just come in to steal something? Both he and his partner had been knocked out before they knew what happened and the thief ran off with their orb and that was that, or so they thought.

When they arrived at the lab, a mawile was just standing up with a hand at her head, one red eye open and the other closed as she strained to get up. The hypno nearly tossed aside the box, but instead set it aside on a table to help the mawile up. She smiled just a bit and allowed the hypno to help her up to her feet. When her eyes saw the box they grew wide and she spoke in hushed excitement, "You got it back? I thought that deviant would be gone with it for sure!"

"No no, these two friends helped us out." Said the hypno with a sigh.

She looked from the hypno to Frae and Tellah who were standing by the table that held the box. Standing she took a few steps toward the pair and then took Frae's paw and Tellah's hand, squeezing them tight before squeezing tight and beaming, "Thank you both so much! We have no idea who you two are, but if you need anything of us, please ask. Bravery deserves reward."

Tellah froze underneath the intense gaze and words of the mawile and so Frae spoke up with a chuckle, "No need, we were just coming over to take a look at the facilities when it happened. We're part of a team, so doing stuff like this isn't too far from what we usually do."

The hypno sighed, "Of course they would be guests Marda."

Marda mimicked the sigh, "Yes Dal, and of course, they'd have to see our pride and joy in this state." The mawile then continued on to explain, "We're afraid that we can't really offer much in terms of tours or whatever have you. We were planning on introducing people to the telescope and the basic labs that we have set up, but as you can see we're both a bit indisposed and shaken."

Tellah spoke up with a smile, "Oh! Don't worry about that at all. If you'd like, we could go back to town and let the town's police force know what happened. They should be able to send some extra protection here and well, you can probably also get some help replacing whatever was broken."

Dal stepped toward Tellah and grabbed her other hand to shake it firmly, "That would be wonderful! We're so sorry we can't provide more today, but you two have done us a favor and so we invite you two to come back, maybe a week later, or maybe more at night. We would be glad to answer any question and give you a real look at the stars above."

Tellah's eyes shimmered at that and she nodded happily, "That isn't necessary, but it is hard to turn that offer down! Just send Team Twist a letter whenever your facilities are fully ready to receive guests."

Marda moved over to check the box and she opened it while speaking, "Now, Dal, we can at least show them this."

Dal raised a brow and then nodded while joining his partner, "Yes! We very well could!"

With ginger digits, the hypno reached inside of the box and Frae watched with a raised brow as he pulled an orb from the box that was glowing brightly even in the light of the lab. It glowed black and purple, unlike any other orb Frae had seen. Tellah was the first to ask with a small voice, "What is it?"

Marda moved over to turn off the lights and Dal held the orb just a bit higher so that they could see that the orb was speckled with what appeared to be stars. Marda spoke clearly, with a tint of wonder in her voice, "We don't know. It fell from space, and yet it looks as if a piece of the cosmos itself fell to our earth. We'll figure it out sometime, but for now, all we were planning on doing was setting up the lab."

When the lights turned on, Frae asked, "Will you two be alright without us?"

Marda balled up a black fist and slammed it into her open hand, "We won't be caught off guard again. I'll murder that medicham if they think they'll get their hands on any of our research."

Dal cleared his throat, "What she means, is that we'll be safe and sound now that we're aware of the danger and we'll be wary of any supposed friends, so you're free to go."

Frae looked toward Tellah, who shrugged and gave a small smile at the display. Both members of Team Twist said their goodbyes and left the lab to head to the lobby before stepping outside. Careful as they could, they walked around the broken glass and stepped onto the hill to begin their journey back. Frae had felt his heart rushing throughout that entire encounter and now that they weren't active or talking to strangers, he sighed, his body drooping.

Tellah looked at him with a small frown, "Are you okay?"

Frae chuckled, "I'm just glad that's all over. I don't like wild surprises. My heart was racing back there."

The kecleon looked back forward and let out a long breath, "Same here...Didn't think our first real date would be this trashy."

He shrugged and reached out to grab her hand gently, "Eh, it was exciting. Got the blood boiling, and we got to see something cool, so I think it was a success."

Her digits twined about his a moment after he grabbed her hand and they walked together like that while Tellah muttered, "I guess, but I also wanted to learn a lot more than just that they had some sort of weird space orb, although, the space orb was pretty cool."

Frae snorted, "C'mon, we can see much more whenever they invite us back."

"I guess," Tellah said in a long drawn out manner. A smile then crossed her features as he looked at her, "You'll have to keep me distracted while we wait though."

A sly smirk tugged at the corner of his mouth while he answered, "I guess I could just take the hardest jobs at the bulletin board and keep us busy like that." When he saw the slight pout of her cheeks, he continued on, "Or we could actually do something that I want to do."

Tellah blinked, "And what would that be?"

"Laze around the home, talk, kiss, maybe go out for something nice to eat, kiss some more, take some low impact assignments and kiss in slightly dangerous places." He said listing out his desires with a big smile.

Tellah cleared her throat, "I mean...We could just do that in either your or my room y'know...And maybe a bit more right?"

Frae gave her hand a gentle squeeze, "If you're ready for that type of thing, sure."

She then muttered, "Of course...I was ready this morning idiot."

Frae couldn't help his desire to tease just a bit, and so he leaned in to plant to a kiss on her cheek while they walked, "And you would have made so much noise that Mino would have woken up and complained."

Tellah looked at him with a deep frown, and he expected a slap at any point, but instead, she kissed him gently on the mouth and giggled, "She could join."

Before he could breach further into that topic, she let go of his paw and walked ahead of him with both of her hands held behind her back. Frae watched as she trailed off and he followed with a big smile on his face. One step at a time he supposed.

When they arrived home, neither of them had any energy for kissing or anything else really. Mino had figured her partners would tell her all about their trip to the observatory, but when she checked in their rooms, she found both curled up on Frae's bed with their eyes closed. Both looked exhausted enough that Mino simply smiled and shut the door gently before moving over to the kitchen wondering what she would do for dinner for those two and herself, maybe something nice to apologize to Tellah for being so rude. They were partners, friends and more after all.
