#9 of Andlat

Andlat's going to a wedding! Always an exciting occasion, even if seeing the girls in their floofy dresses makes him squirm a bit. When disaster strikes the morning of the wedding, Andlat's the only one who can help, even if it means swallowing his pride.

Andlat nibbled carefully at his scrambled eggs. He already wore his wedding outfit and the slightest stain would show on either his short-sleeved white shirt or his shorts in a color that Jack called baby blue and he preferred to call sky. He tugged at his shorts, but they remained determined not to go any lower than his midthigh. He had fought Jack's insistence on him wearing a bib over his sky blue bowtie, but he had ended up in it anyway, to Jenny and Jessie's delight. At least he had big boy undies on, with rocket ships on them. Plus, his white socks had absolutely no lace on them, even if he felt fairly sure his blue shoes were girls' Mary Janes.

Jenny and Jessie sat across from Andlat in the booth. He hated how mature they looking their matching sundresses compared to him, despite his being older. Of course, that was not a novel situation, but he would never be comfortable with that. Their predatory grins never helped.

Claire's phone buzzed and she pulled it from her purse. She frowned as she quickly responded before looking up.

"Well, Madison woke up with the chicken pox." She said morosely.

"Oh, no!" Jenny and Jessie said in unison. Claire nodded.

"I guess it's going around her nursery school, but Lizzie was hoping that she'd be able to avoid it until after the wedding." She said.

"Does that mean Lizzie won't be able to be in the wedding?" Jack asked. "What's [] going to do without her maid of honor?" Claire's phone went off again and she looked it over.

"I guess Lizzie's still on. Her husband's going to take care of Madison." She explained. "But, []'s wedding party is still down a member." Andlat ate his eggs, completely unaware of the glances everyone kept stealing in his direction.

"Well, the show must go on." Jack replied.

"There must be someone who can do it." Jenny said, glancing pointedly at Andlat.

"You two have experience." Claire teased. Jack chuckled.

"The two best flower girls I've ever seen." He said, teasing his nieces gently.

"We'll see if your opinion changes by the end of the day." Claire said with a smirk. She fired off another response text. "Sounds like they're already forming a plan."

The server came by and they quickly paid the bill. Much to Andlat's delight, that meant that his bib came off, although he had to endure a thorough face wipe from Jack. As everyone got up to leave, Andlat slid out of the booth to follow Jack, but Claire grabbed his paw.

"Actually, kiddo. You're coming with me and the girls."

"Why?"

"You'll see when we get there." Andlat nodded, feeling a little nervous. He shyly waved good-bye to Jack as Claire led him by the paw out of the restaurant and over to the convention center where []'s wedding would be taking place. People bustled here, there, and everywhere, Claire expertly navigating with Andlat in tow, Jenny and Jessie following closely. Andlat's shoes clicked on the tiled floor.

"Teresa." Claire called. The mother of the bride turned and raced toward them.

"[] is in a bit of a panic. I guess a bunch of the blogs she's read say it's bad luck to have a ring bearer and no flower girl." She said, clearly exasperated. Claire nodded.

"That's exactly why I'm here." She gently nudged Andlat in front of her. "May I present your stand-in flower girl!"

"What?" Andlat exclaimed as Jenny and Jessie squealed with delight. Teresa covered her mouth with an immaculate paw.

"This little boy? Well, that's a good laugh." She said with a smile.

"I don't think you understand." Claire said. "This is Jack's little kit." Recognition immediately filled Teresa's face.

"Oh! Of course! Little Emma!" Andlat's ears flattened. How many people had Jack sent photos to? She looked him up and down before nodding in approval. "All the other girls are much too big, but she's just the right size. Madison's dress is right over there. It should fit her perfectly." Claire's grip on Andlat's paw prevented him from escaping as she led him over to where Teresa had pointed.

"Good morning, Lizzie!" Claire said. The snow leopard smiled. "I have good news, we found someone to fill in for Madison." The snow leopard's eyes fell on Andlat and she kneeled down, no small feat in her maid of honor dress.

"Hello there, sweetheart. My goodness! You're a pretty little girl!" She chuckled as Andlat hid behind Claire. "What's her name?"

"Princess, come out and introduce yourself properly." Claire said, squeezing his paw to motivate him. Andlat whimpered and remained hidden. "Excuse me a moment." Claire knelt down beside the bashful fox and spoke softly. "I know you don't want to do this, but little kits don't always get what they want. The reason I volunteered you is because you've spent a lot more time as Emma than as Andlat around me, so I know you've worn things a lot more girly than Madison's dress. Your daddy will be upset if you throw a fit, so how about you prove to him that you can be a big girl. You are a big girl, aren't you?"

"I'm a big boy." Andlat said. Claire shook her head.

"That's not an option, Emma. If you were a boy, you wouldn't be volunteered to be the flower girl, now would you?"

"I guess." Andlat whined.

"Now, are you a big girl?"

"Yes."

"Yes, what?"

"Yes, I'm a big girl." Andlat mumbled. Claire smiled.

"Alright. Now go introduce yourself to Lizzie and tell her that you're ready to be the flower girl. None of this mumbling. Show her that you're a big girl who can be trusted with the responsibility." It was a timid fox who walked over and did his best to curtsey in his shorts.

"Hello, my name's Emma and I'd like to be the flower girl." He squirmed in place, which only added to his appearance as a bashful little girl.

"Have you ever been a flower girl before?" Andlat could truthfully shake his head, even though he had worn countless dresses that would not look out of place on a flower girl.

"She was a flower for a few ballet recitals." Claire interjected.

"Oh, are you a ballerina?" Lizzie asked. Andlat nodded shyly. "I used to love doing ballet. Can you show me some of your moves?" Andlat looked back at Claire, who nodded, gesturing for him to demonstrate. He danced a little bit, his blue Mary Janes clicking on the floor. "She's certainly graceful enough to be a ballerina." Lizzie said. "I've got Madison's dress right here, but I suppose it's Emma's now." Andlat's eyes widened as he saw the pink nightmare that Lizzie revealed with a bizarrely voluminous skirt full to the brim with frothy petticoats.

"Look how delighted she is!" Claire exclaimed. Andlat whimpered, glad that Jenny and Jessie were not around to see what he saw.

"Don't you remember what it was like to be Emma's age? I've always believed that little girls shouldn't be afraid to be girls." She smiled at Andlat again. "Of course, since you're such an accomplished ballerina, I doubt that you ever don't feel like a girl." She hung the dress up again. "That little enclosure should be big enough for us to get Emma into her dress. If you want to take her in there and get her undressed, Claire, I'll grab the rest of her outfit." Andlat felt dumbfounded as Claire led him into the makeshift dressing room. He could still hear voices, but at least no one would be able to see his transition from smartly-dressed little boy to prissy little flower girl, at least as long as they did not come right up the curtains.

"Remember, you agreed to this." Claire said as she removed Andlat's clip-on bowtie, his shoes coming right after. She began to undo his shirt, making short work of it. His shorts soon followed, leaving him there in just his socks and underwear. "No stains." Claire said, turning him around to thoroughly inspect his undies. "I'll be sure to tell your daddy." Andlat yelped as she tugged them down as well, leaving him in just his socks. "Take your socks off." She instructed. Andlat did so. It occurred to him that, while being naked was obviously embarrassing, it also meant that Lizzie would realize he could not possibly be the flower girl. He resolved to try his hardest not to cover himself when Lizzie came in.

"Alrighty, looks like Emma's all ready for her dress!" Lizzie practically sang, her arms full of clothes and various accoutrements that made Andlat nervous.

"Yes, she is." Claire replied. "She practically jumped out of her clothes." She pointed to the haphazard pile. "She just loves playing dress-up. It's her favorite game with Jenny and Jessie." Andlat whimpered and his tail wrapped around his legs as Claire playfully patted him on the head.

"I see that Emma wears big girl panties." Lizzie said, nodding to Andlat's briefs atop the pile. "Well, Madison isn't in big girl panties yet, so the dress has some plastic panties to go with it. Emma's big girl panties don't really go with this dress, but that's why I brought this." Lizzie held up an all-too familiar pink rectangle. Claire saw the look on Andlat's face.

"Don't worry, Lizzie. I explained to Emma that Madison's a little girl still, so she might just have to put up with some juvenile things. She's not that far out of diapers anyway. Her daddy had her wear a diaper on the trip down, didn't he?"

"No!" Andlat protested. Lizzie and Claire both seemed a little surprised by his outburst.

"So you wore your big girl panties all the way down here, Emma?" Claire asked in mock amazement. When he considered it, Andlat was not so sure it was mock amazement. He nodded, hoping to get this over with.

"I'm sure you won't mind wearing a diaper for just a little while." Lizzie said. "Lie down on the floor for me, princess." Feeling trapped, Andlat timidly complied. He squirmed as Lizzie began to rub baby powder into his fur. "Her fur's so soft!" Lizzie exclaimed, seemingly oblivious to the fox's penis that her paw was right next to. She lifted Andlat's legs with a paw and slipped the diaper underneath him.

"Just like the ones you wore at my house last summer." Claire mused. Andlat closed his eyes and just wished for it to be over. With his eyes closed, he still knew what was going on. He could hear the diaper crinkle and feel it settle over his front as Lizzie taped it around his waist. He felt Lizzie slip the plastic panties over his feet. He could not resist peeking, even though he had a good idea of what he was about to see.

Sure enough, the plastic panties settling over his diaper were profoundly pink, every inch of them covered by lace and frills. He slowly got to his feet, trying not to think about how different his current underwear was to those that he had put on that morning. He bit his bottom lip to keep it from trembling as he watched Claire pack up his boy outfit, removing any chance of him getting them back soon.

"So precious!" Claire exclaimed. "How about we have little Emma walk down the aisle dressed just like that?" Claire and Lizzie both laughed at the thought, but Andlat hoped that they were just joking.

"As precious as that would be, she'll be even prettier in her dress." Lizzie shook it out to fluff the petticoats a bit, giving Andlat a good look at it. As Lizzie shook it out, it almost looked like a cloud of cotton candy. It was a pink satin party dress with white ruffles around both the collar and the puff sleeves. It had a white ruffled bib with three pink bows decorating it and pink bows on each of the sleeves.

"What do you think, Emma?" Claire asked, kneeling down and whispering the answer she expected to hear.

"That's a very pretty dress." Andlat intoned dutifully. "I can't wait to wear it." Lizzie smiled.

"Arms up, Emma!" Andlat complied, doing his best to raise his arms like a boy would rather than in any remotely feminine fashion.

"Mom!" Andlat yelped as Jenny came barging in, followed closely by Jessie. Whatever she had been about to say was forgotten as she saw Andlat bashfully standing there in his frilly diaper, mouth agape as his cousins took in the precious sight.

"Is Emma going to be the flower girl?" Jessie exclaimed excitedly.

"Of course!" Claire said. "She was so nice to volunteer, wasn't she?"

"I'm sure she was upset that another little girl was going to be more of a princess than her." Jenny said as the teen girls admired the dress as Lizzie lowered it over his still upstretched arms.

"Oh! It fits perfectly!" Lizzie exclaimed. Andlat whimpered. Up until that moment, he had been secretly hoping that somehow, it would have been too small. Even too big would not have been the end of the world, even though the little girl who was supposed to wear it was a decade younger than him. He shifted shyly from side to side as they zipped the dress up his back and tied the sash around his waist.

"Look at yourself in the mirror, Emma." Claire coaxed. Andlat waddled over, whimpering at how feminine and little he looked. Underneath all the floofy petticoats, frills, and diaper poof, he could feel himself twinge as Claire made him turn around in a circle, his dress blossoming out around him. The women all clapped for him and he wished that something, anything would intervene and keep him from having to do this. Maybe Madison would make a miraculously speedy recovery! He knew that, wish as he might, he was destined, doomed to be the flower girl.

"And now for her crown!" Lizzie set a flower crown on top of Andlat's head, attaching it to his headfur with some bobby pins.

"Curtsey for the camera, Emma!" Jenny and Jessie said, holding their phones up and snapping countless photos of their 'baby cousin'.

"Don't you dare send those to Uncle Jack!" Claire said. "I want to see his face when he first sees Emma as she goes waddling down the aisle." Andlat nibbled on his bottom lip, fearful of just how long it would be until he could wear boy clothes again once Jack saw him like this.

"Now, Emma." Lizzie said gently. "I know it's very scary being a flower girl in front of all those people, but trust me, you'll do fine. You're a very big girl, volunteering to fill in for Madison." She pointed toward his reflection in the mirror. "You look like a princess, don't you?" He stared at the little fox in the mirror, his boy outfit a distant memory. "We'd better go find Aiden. He's the ring bearer. You'll be walking down the aisle with him." Picking him up, Lizzie carried the bashful little sissy fox out of the makeshift changing room.

Aiden proved to be a tiger cub of about six or seven, wearing an outfit a bit too identical to the one Andlat had on before he had been forced to volunteer to be the flower girl. When Lizzie set him down next to Aiden, the tiger was nearly a head shorter than the fox, but he had no diaper puff showing.

"Aiden, this is Emma. Madison got sick, so she's filling in as flower girl."

"Nice to meet you, Emma." Aiden said, a bit shyly. Andlat mumbled back a response, convinced that Aiden knew that he was a boy much too old to be dressed in such a frilly, infantile outfit.

Noticing that Aiden had a very familiar-looking green bracelet on, Andlat pointed to it.

"Do you watch Ace Incredible?" He asked. He had wanted to wear his, but Jack had told him that it was not appropriate to wear to a wedding. Aiden's ears perked up and he opened his mouth to answer, but was interrupted.

"My goodness!" A bubbly voice exclaimed. Andlat spun around, dress floofing out and giving Aiden a good view of the fox's frilly diapered bottom. A tiger who must have been Aiden's mom stood there, taking Andlat's outfit in. "This must be our flower girl!"

"Substitute flower girl." Lizzie explained. "Madison got sick, but we managed to find another little princess just itching to help out."

"Oh, my!" The tiger said, looking Andlat over once again. "Good luck getting her out of that dress once the ceremony's over." She and Lizzie shared a good laugh as Andlat stood there, feeling terribly bashful.

"I'll leave Emma with you then, Teri." Lizzie said, waving goodbye to Andlat.

"Now, Emma. You're going to walk right beside Aiden, okay?" Teri explained in that same cheerful voice. "I won't make you hold his paw cuz he's an icky boy, isn't he?" Andlat did not know what to do except nod. Teri smiled. "You'll both walk to the front and then go sit down with your family, okay?" Andlat nodded. "Aiden, Emma's still in diapers, so you might have to go a little slow for her, okay?"

"I don't need diapers." Andlat mumbled softly. Teri had better hearing than he thought though.

"I'm sure it was just a precaution to make sure you don't get too excited, angel."

"No, Madison wears them and" Andlat's voice trailed off. He could tell that neither Teri nor Aiden were listening.

"C'mon, cubs. We'd better get to our places." Teri said, taking Andlat's paw and leading him where he needed to go. Andlat took a deep breath. His flower girl debut was only a second away.
