Dragons Lair pt 1
#1 of Dragons Lair
It was a rainy day and Michael forgot his umbrella. "Sunny day they said. What does the BBC know? Nothing, that's what" Michael muttered to himself as he ran towards the university. He was already 15 minutes late and needed to be there, this was the day before his physics exam and he had a lot of ground to cover. On top of that he had to prepare for his electronics exam, which was 3 weeks away. When he started university he was top of his class, but family problems had made him de-motivate himself and he was lagging behind badly. He had to study flat out over the next day, or he would fail. He wasn't worried about the exam, he was more interested in his dreams. Every night for the past 3 weeks he had the same dream, being in an operating theatre on the operating table. The really weird part was that the surgeons weren't human, they were Dragons. Every time he woke up he saw white for a fraction of a second then his bedroom again. He looked up what he was seeing and the website said it was his brains way of escaping a stressful life. Michael ran through the front door and made a dash for his class. He came in to see his teacher had filled up 1 whiteboard and had moved onto the next one already. Michael took out a pen and a book and started copying it down.
Approximately 65 million years ago, dinosaurs ruled the Earth. They had to share with a creature more powerful and smarter than anything at the time, the Dragon. The Dragons were more advanced than humans are today and saw the meteor coming a year ahead. They built one of the biggest spaceships in the universe and took every part of their society onto it to leave Earth. Dragons made sure that every trace of their presence on Earth was erased, so that everything was in the ship. They left just hours before the meteor hit the Earth.
After class he ran home, in the rain, and found he had received his 30 days notice to vacate his apartment. He got a beer out of the fridge and sat down. He flicked on the TV and although it was on his favourite programme, he wasn't interested. His life was a complete disaster and he was seriously contemplating suicide. He finished his beer, had dinner, and went to bed fully clothed. He just wanted to have that nice dream again because he would take anything over this life.
The Dragons built their empire elsewhere, but were kept informed of Earth and its climate. When the Earth was right for them to go back to living on it, it already had a new species evolving on it, Humans. Some Dragons tried to live alongside Humans but were slain because the Humans were afraid they would be killed by the Dragons. That was 1000 years ago. Now the Human race has evolved enough for the Dragons to introduce themselves within the next 10 years, but they had to plan their approach carefully because if they came on too strong, the Humans would panic and kill them all again. Testing was being done on Humans to see if they could ever evolve far enough to become a space-worthy species. Myra was in charge of the secret research operation, and was very interested with all aspects of human life.
Michael was fast asleep when she appeared, camouflaged with a distortion field. She was careful not to wake Michael as she put an armband on him. She pushed a button on the armband and they were taken by a teleporter into a white room, with a black piece of one way glass in one wall. The Dragon de-cloaked and left the room as several scientists entered to perform the experiments and checks. Behind the glass, Myra and another Dragon known as Saiu were talking in their native tongue, but if they did speak English this is what they would have said:
"Myra?"
"Yes"
"Are you sure about this? I mean, about doing this without the Humans consent."
"The council isn't ready to reveal us to them so we must remain secret"
"I still think we should ask them"
"What you think does not concern my research"
"I did not mean to disrespect you"
"Good. They are beginning, please let me conduct my research in peace." Myra said. She was about 6 ft 6 and had beautiful black hide, to the envy of her female friends. She could make almost any man bend to her will because of her looks. Saiu left without a word and shut the door behind him slowly. Myra started taking notes as the scientists began.
