Shadows In The Water Part 2
#16 of Legend of the Tiger Clan
The dragon had a long webbed dorsal fin along its spine and webbing in between its calws meaning it could swim and by the looks of its serpent like body swim extremely fast and a long snapping jaw to back it up. The beast eyed all three of the intruders who came into its cave hissing and drooling with hunger they backed up slowly waiting for the right moment to strike, then Xani spotted an exit out of the corner of her eye and gestured the others to follow slowly, as she moved toward the exit she was tripped over by an unseen stone and the gem fell into the water allowing the dragon to dart in for her.
"AAGH!!"
"XANI! *blocks the beasts jaw using his sword* You keep your claws off her!!!!"
While Shayde held down the beast Sam formed a shadow bow and fired three arrows into its skull making it cry in pain and dazing it a little as it crashed into the cave wall, as it regained its vision it took a deep breath as it reared back its head but instead of breathing fire it shot out a powerful jet stream that cut through the cave rocks like a scissor through paper as Sam leaped to safety and saw the destruction.
"Yikes...."
"My turn!"
Shayde dashed right beneath the dragon cutting both its front legs forcing it to rear up allowing Xani to throw her staff into its chest killing it and sending it splashing into the water. Xani recovered her staff and joined the others to recooperate but just as everything seemed calm Sparky; the sprite who was in the cave noticed the dragons wounds beginning to heal and quickly flew to them.
"SHAYDE! SHAYDE! LOOKY LOOKY!!"
"Wha-OH HELL!!"
The dragon suddenly sprang to life, its wounds gone and it seemed more furios than before as it shot another jet stream, scattering the group with only Shayde in its sight.
"How does Zeng do this job?!?-WHOA!!"
The dragon snapped its jaws at Shayde as he rolled and ducked under the beast while trying to get in close, Xani who was just behind the fight found her arm was broken at the joint, as she tried to stand she fell into the water and her arm suddenly began to heal, as she lifted herself out of the water she moved her arm all around, it had been completely healed and then it came to her.
"The water...Shayde! keep it out of the water!"
"No problem there!!"
Shayde ran as far away from the pool as possible, pulling the dragon away when suddenly the dragon tripped over a strange black rope and out of the shadows came Sam who formed a giant shadow spear and began stabbing the beast which began thrashing around like a bull at a rodeo.
"YEE HAW!! WOO!!"
Sam seemed to have things under control when suddenly the tail wrapped around him and threw him to the side while Xani ambushed the beast from below, cutting its back legs causing it two fall forward, leaving Shayde to cut its head off as he leaped toward the beast and this time when they killed it, it stayed dead, Sparky was overjoyed as she made loops in the air and buzzed around all their heads with excitement.
"YAAY! you did it! you did it!!"
"Now for that gem."
As Shayde plucked the gem out of the water a bright light flashed before their eyes and suddenly the felt replenished and all the bruises and cuts from the battle were completely gone, even the mud on their clothes was cleaned off. Moments later they emerged from the cave with the gem as the others cheered them on, Xani introduced the group to sparky who decided to give Xani another gem which was more beautiful than the one they had just aquired.
"Thank you Sparky!"
"It's a gem of true seeing. place this over your eye and even the most powerful illusion will be dispeled! well gotta go! bye!"
After waving good-bye to their little friend they decided to celebrate Angel took the gem down below and began studying its magical properties while Zengs mothers went down to the galley to prepare a feast and Zeng loved nothing more than his mothers cooking, especially the roast.
Xani on the other hand just wanted to snuggle with Shayde after a long day of fighting a dragon and Shayde just sat there in the cool breeze of the night air looking at her with a smile, Xani was everything to him.
"Shayde? you in there?"
"Yeah but keep quiet."
Angel entered the room holding a vial of some blue potion and laid it on the dresser smiling at the happy couple.
"This is a potion I made from the gems magic, it'll help if you get hurt. just use one drop and you're fine.
