#4 of Furs on Tour

Okay this is the 4th installment of Furs on Tour. I apologise in advance for the ending. I'm not entirely happy with the ending, but I'm not sure how else to finish it. Comments and criticisms welcomed :)

This one is a lot shorter than the others, coz its basically a travelling day.

So enthralled was I in said dreams, I missed my alarm and in turn breakfast the next morning. My oh-so-loverly roomies had left me to sleep, but out of the kindness of their hearts had bought me up breakfast. In the end I was forced to scarf it down as I got into my concert band uniform.

It was then I realised I hadn't packed my suitcase. I swore quietly as I darted round the room, grabbing my loose odds and ends from every corner and crevice. I was truly amazed at the sheer volume of crap that had managed to escape from my suitcase in the short amount of time since we arrived in New York, and now we were leaving!

By some small miracle, I managed to find my stuff pack and get my suitcase closed, all in the space of half and hour. I trundled it and my saxophone to the lifts, waiting for what seemed like hours as full lift after full lift came down and went past, each time the door opening and the group of furs smiling apologetically before closing the doors and continuing to the lobby.

Finally, I managed to squeeze my suitcase into a lift with one fur and about 5 suitcases and I quickly headed for the stairs, set on beating the lift down the couple of flights to the ground floor.

As I vaulted over the last of the banisters, I crashed headlong into a fur going the opposite way.

"Oh my god I'm so...." I started to say, picking myself up before I looked to see who it was.

Sam was lying on the stairs looking up at me, a slightly bemused look on his face. The look sent me over the edge, and I started to giggle uncontrollably. The tension that had been in my heart over the past couple of days released instantly as I ended up on my back, rolling around in the stairwell.

Without warning, the ground disappeared from under me as Sam lifted me up to look straight at my face.

"Now, would you care to share what you find so ridiculously funny?" he said, a small smile forming in the corners of his muzzle.

"You...you...your....face...when....you....fell" I managed to gasp out, against my better judgement.

His eyebrow rose slightly and he placed me on the floor, crushing me to him with one arm and holding my face looking up at him with the other.

"Do I still look funny now?" he said softly as the laughter died in my throat.

"No" I managed to whisper, swallowing gently so he didn't realise how nervous I was.

His face leaned down towards mine. I tried moving up to meet him but he held me too fast, my arms pinioned at my sides. He stopped an inch or two from my face, his smile widening as he teased me. He blew air onto my left cheek, then kissed it, followed by my right cheek getting the same treatment. I was going crazy inside as each touch sent more tingles up and down my spine and kisses sent my heart off like a rocket. I couldn't stand any more waiting. With a supreme effort, I broke my arms free of his embrace, throwing my arms around his neck instead and kissing him.

Her murred softly into the kiss, pulling me closer to him so there was no air between our bodies. His tongue poked at my muzzle, begging for entry. His eagerness made me smile, and his tongue easily slipped into my mouth. Fireworks truly appeared behind my eyes as it was my turn to murr, deepening the kiss as I did. Neither of us noticed the stair doors opening, until I felt myself being torn from Sam's arms.

My arms felt empty and cold for a few seconds as my mind struggled to comprehend the swift change in events. i felt a sharp sting on the side of my face, making the bruise on my jaw smart as I fell to the floor with the force. Sam's ferocious growl ripped through the echoing stairwell and I finally opened my eyes.

Lindsey was standing over me, arm raised, being restrained by an irate Sam.

"Just what the fuck do you think you're playing at?" Sam spat into her ear. She recoiled slightly, but couldn't get far as his powerful arms held her tight against his chest, in a complete parallel to the way he had just been holding me. I almost felt sorry for her until I saw the look she was giving me, and then the sympathy drained away.

I stood up, massaging my jaw carefully, making sure I touched the bruise as lightly or as little as possible.

"Let her go Sam, she isn't worth it" I said quietly, unwrapping his arms from around Lindsey and wrapping them back around me. He buried his face into the side of my neck to calm himself down as I barely registered Lindsey skulking up the stairs.

I felt Sam start planting butterfly kisses up the side of my neck, and shivered involuntarily, tingles shooting from my ears to my paws. I pulled back before I could get to into it, laughing softly at the pout I was greeted it when I untangled myself from his arms.

"You do realise we've been hiding for a considerable amount of time, and they will leave without us?" I said, smiling up at him

"Would that be such a bad thing?" he said with a gleam in his eye, drawing me back to him, "The whole hotel to ourselves, no supervision..." his paw trailed up my arm, making my breath hitch in my throat. I purred softly as he reached my shoulders, catching my soft spot on my collarbone.

"Tempting as that sounds...." I said, before pulling back again, catching the hand travelling across my collarbone, and pulling him behind me as I made for the exit "...I think they'd notice."

"Of course," he said, faking a huge sigh, "we're the biggest and the brightest" he stroked a golden stripe on my nose to emphasise his point, making me giggle as he tickled me.

Unfortunately for us, we had been assigned different coaches for the journey to Boston. We were forced to say goodbye there and then, a quick peck before we were whisked to our respective coaches for the 2hour journey to Valhalla.

To any of you vaguely clued up on the interesting bits of British History, you'll know that Valhalla is the Viking word for Heaven. To get to Valhalla, you have to have died honourably in battle, to appease Thor. Thus the main topic of conversation on the way to Valhalla was which battle we were going to find to die honourably in, so we could get in to do our concert.

The venue itself was a bit of a let down. We new we were performing at a junior school, but secretly we had been hoping for something a little grander than a single storey school.

The concert went...well...as well as could be expected for furs who didn't give a damn. The young furs in the audience were great, whistling and cheering for the whole concert.

All too soon it was back on the coach for the last long journey for a week. We didn't realise at the time, that it would be another 6hours before we would hit Chelmsford, and that it would be a very quick handover to the people we were staying with.

I snoozed for most of the journey, allowing my mind to linger on every small detail of my run in with Sam on the stairs that morning. The way his paws ran through my fur. The way his body felt pressed close to mine. The taste of his tongue... I sighed contentedly, letting myself slip away into my subconscious.

I woke up hours later, stiff and uncomfortable from the awkward position I had ended up in. I stretched my arms up, forgetting about the low ceilings and smacking my paws. I heard a snicker from behind me as I hissed in pain, drawing my hands to my chest quickly. I raised my head over the seat, careful not to reach too far, and saw Lindsey and a group of her friends sitting at the back of the coach laughing at me.

Luckily for them, we hit base in Chelmsford at that moment and all thoughts of revenge were forgotten, for now.

We got off the coach, apprehensive to say the least. Mr. B was quick to palm us off to our families so he no longer had to worry about the group, and he could finally get a decent night's sleep.

My family was a pair of pandas, Tom and Linda. Tom is the vicar of the church we were linked to and Linda lectures engineering at the University of Massachusetts. They were both rotund, jolly people and literally welcomed us into their family with open arms.

I didn't see Sam again that night as he was also whisked away from the coaches to the home of his family, but I felt my phone buzz just as I was about to drop my head onto the pillow.

I smiled, my phone being the pile of crap it is wouldn't let me text just receive messages so I put my phone under my pillow and drifted off to sleep happy.
