My disclaimers ugh* I don't own pokemon and if you're not at least 18 (who cares) and don't like this yiffy furry stuff. Why the heck are you even on this website? (just curious) Please once again I love getting your comments good or bad so please if you read this please (oh pweeze) take the time to comment.

This is chapter two yiff was the main part of chapter one so I'm going to focus mainly on Pearl trying to get back to May and deal with the repercussions of her actions. So sorry yiff fans no yiff in this one scroll back to chapter one if you want the yiff :3 (come back to this later) I need to develop my story later but there will be more yiff to come!

Kindred Flames-Blowback

Pearl awoke and opened her eyes to the peaceful bird song and dappled pale light of dawn streaming in between the leaves of the overhanging Pecha Berry trees. She glanced around blearily, her senses still dulled by her deep sleep. The cool breeze that blew through the small clearing managed to wake her up a little bit more and she lifted her nose into the air breathing in deeply and enjoying the cool breeze that blew over her rosey fur ruffling it slightly. With this liberating breath the scent of her brand new canine lover washed over her. She turned her head slightly to gaze upon Phoenix the Arcanine who after trailing her for a little while grew to admire her beauty and mated her the night before. He lay curled up with his back turned to her and his crimson fur brushing against hers compassionately lending his intense body heat to her. The steady rise and fall of his flanks indicated he was still fast asleep.

Pearl blushed bright red through her fur as memories of last night's events came rushing back to her. Orgasm after earth shattering orgasm wracking her body and leaving her breathless. Her ear splitting lust driven howls mixing with equally loud ones from Phoenix as he drove into her. His seed filling her to the brim and soothing her Heat as it dripped through his knot....Her heart began to beat faster as she pulled out of the fantasy made real, dancing in her mind. That night had been so perfect, so unreal that it was hard to believe it had all truly happened to her.

Saving those thoughts for another time she rose to her feet stretching luxuriously before beginning to groom her soiled fur. She drew her tongue rapidly over her claws and combed them through the long tuft of pink fur between her pointed ears, straightening it out till it shone in the morning light. Her fur and appearance in general was extremely important to her. Almost to the point where others would call her vain and self-obsessed. It wasn't entirely her fault though, as a uniquely colored ninetales her flowing pink tails and beautiful plush fur were cherished by her and by other people who thought of her species as a fashion icon. No wonder people dared not touch the tail of a ninetales, she thought. Not only out of fear of some dark legend about 1,000 year curses but because the vengeful pokemon would likely fly into a rage and you'd almost certainly leave with terrible burns. Pearl idly contemplated this as she cleaned herself head to paw admiring the way the dappled morning light made her fur shine a rose-like color. As she began to finish her early morning task she heard the leaves rustle around behind her as Phoenix stirred and awoke from his slumber.

Pearl turned to watch him with admiring eyes as he stretched his jaws in a massive yawn and flexed his long claws in and out. He eventually turned towards her and met her gaze with a sleepy smile. "Good morning lovely," he said as he clambered to all fours and shook himself, tossing his golden mane messily around him. Pearl giggled into her paw at the sight of the once elegant pokemon's mane messily strewn about his head. A tuft of fur hung down covering one sparkling brown eye as he attempted to groom himself unsuccessfully. He winced as a claw got caught in a tangle of fur drawing another giggle from the perfectly groomed ninetales. "Do you think you could enjoy this any less?" he asked with good natured humor still clear in his voice. "Here let me help," she said still chuckling as she walked up to him and began drawing her tongue skillfully across his fluffy fur. She drew her claws through the longer parts of his fur combing out the knots and drew her tongue across the shorter red and black parts. He made what sounded like rumbling purrs of pleasure and leaned into her as she worked. His tail thumped the ground as he began mumbling about how impossibly lucky he was to have her with him right now. Pearl blushed deeper loving his appreciation with all her heart. Appreciation......for some inexplicable reason this thought stirred something deep inside her.....a memory of some sort, hmmm.

Pearl, P-puh-Pearl? PEARL WHERE ARE YOU?!? May's panic stricken voice rang out in the bustling streets. She had awoken that morning to find Pearl gone without a trace. She had so far managed not to become immediately alarmed. Females were known to wander off during their heat cycles in order to find male based relief. But this wasn't like Pearl not to just......go and not return. They were inseparable and trusted each other with everything if Pearl needed to go she would've told her first. There was no way Pearl would do this. Something had to be wrong.

So May had worked herself up into a full on panic attack and had rushed out of the hotel, attracting some questioning stares, in an effort to find her. She pulled out all of her pokeballs and released her entire team with the intent of questioning them. As soon as the shining red glow faded and each of their attention was focused solely on her she asked fervently if any of them had any idea where Pearl might've gone. Maybe seen or heard anything from her that could serve as a hint. Each of them had shaken their heads denying any knowledge of her whereabouts and exchanged worried glances amongst each other. Tears of fear and desperation began to fall down May's cheeks and she took a moment to calm herself silently reassuring herself that everything would be all right. Her Glaceon, Hazel had walked over to her and rubbed against her leg in an effort to reassure her. Glay-glay? The azure ice pokemon looked up at her and nuzzled her leg once more.

This simple act of kindness given to her by her pokemon helped to soothe May's nerves and she could soon think straight enough to devise a plan to locate Pearl. She divided her pokemon into teams of two, Blaze and Torrent, Volt and Lillian . And lastly Dusk and Dawn. "Listen to me well you guys," she said this with firm seriousness clear in her voice as she crouched down to their level. "Pearl is nowhere to be found. I haven't seen her since I went to bed last night. I need you to go with your partners and search the town thoroughly. If you don't find her an hour report back to me no matter what." The pokemon nodded their assent and took off in different directions around the town. "Come on Glaceon lets go too!" Glay Glay! Hazel nodded her assent and together trainer and pokemon took off in their own direction in the search for their missing friend.

They had only been searching for a couple of minutes when they came across a young man seemingly searching for his missing pokemon as well. He stood in the middle of a growing crowd of people and was talking to each of the interested and concerned pedestrians one at a time. "Come on Glaceon this could be important." May wove her way between the bustling civilians till she was standing in front of the boy. "Excuse me; you lost your pokemon too?" May said, approaching slowly. The boy was dressed in dark blue jeans with a bland gray tee-shirt. A fierce looking Gliscor stood stonily by his side. "He turned at the sound of her voice and answered her in quite the condescending tone. "Yes, I am. My Arcanine the dumbass of my entire team, took off last night and he hasn't returned despite it being the DAY of the contest! He hadn't been focusing on me for who knows how long and now instead of training harder he's simply taken off!" "When I'm done punishing that good for nothing traitor he'll wish he was never born!" A look of horror flashed across May's face she was completely taken aback by the venom this trainor was spitting. He seemed as though the only reason he wanted to find the missing Arcanine was to hurt him further.

Such ignorance and hate May thought shaking her head. She could understand why the majestic pokemon had fled from such a calloused human. Her heart told her to turn around, walk away, and pray she never ran into such a heartless person ever again. But her logic told her that if the two pokemon had disappeared at the same time, chances are they were together and she would have a better chance of reuniting with Pearl if she stuck with this trainer for the time being. "Well," she began, forcing herself to use a non-chalant tone despite her shock. "My ninetales disappeared last night as well and I'm almost 100% sure they're together. If we search together I'm sure we could locate them before the Floaroma contest begins.

" Hmph, " the trainer contemplated this idly for a bit. "Fine we'll look together. My name is Aaron by the way. Let's go Gliscor fly into the air and search for them from high up. Gliscor- gli! The pokemon grinned pulling its lips back exposing rows of jagged sharp teeth before taking off on its huge bat-like wings. Hazel shrunk backwards whimpering and hiding behind May's pants. She did not want to look the intimidating pokemon in the eye and nudged May nervously wondering why they were talking to such a shady character. May, feeling the nudge, crouched down to the icy pokemon's level and whispered to her softly. "Shhh Hazel, I know this trainer is bad news but there's a chance his Arcanine might just be with Pearl. If we stick with him we have a better chance of finding her. It's only temporary, I promise." Hazel just nodded slowly casting a suspicious glance towards the waiting male trainer and began to walk forward in the direction the Gliscor had taken off in. "Well then," May said in a shaky voice. "Shall we begin looking?"

The memory hit her like a wrecking ball "MAY OH NO!" Pearl leapt to all fours shaking her head in pure panic. "I have to go NOW!" she said already turning around to leave. "Wait...why?" Phoenix said instinctually leaping in front of her. Surprise and confusion was clear on his face. "Slow down please, I-I don't want to leave you," he said sullenly.

"I'm sorry but....I have a trainer and she needs me." Pearl said this while avoiding his shocked gaze. " We have a contest together today. And I could never let her down this badly." The look on Phoenix's face was like a knife to the heart and tears began to pool in her eyes blurring her vision. This was too hard, she couldn't just up and leave the only male who'd ever shown her this much passion and kindness, but she had no choice she had other obligations. "I don't understand," he whimpered. His voice began to quiver as though he too was going to break down into tears of desperation. He pushed his muzzle to her cheek licking it pleadingly. "Please don't go," "If you leave I'll have no choice but to return to my trainer, there'll be no reason for me to stay out here," he said motioning with his tail to the forest surrounding them. "And I-I love it out here.....with you."

"How can you say that?" she gasped disbelievingly. "About your own trainer!" "As you travel and grow together haven't you created some sort of bond?" "I've known my trainer since I was a broken young vulpix. She healed me, hell, she saved me! She became my mother after my own.......passed. We learned and matured together as we grew into great coordinators." "And-and I love her as a daughter loves a mother and a sister loves a sister. Phoenix I could never leave her not for any of this..." As she finished her voice became choked with emotion and she looked down at her paws shuffling them in the dirt. It took a while but when Phoenix replied Pearl could hardly believe what she was hearing.

" Well that's a beautiful picture you paint about the life of a captured pokemon.." but it's just not true he said bitterly, some sort of other emotion was building in his voice. Pearl couldn't tell which one it was but it definitely wasn't good. Maybe rage, sadness, betrayal? She couldn't quite put her claw on it. "What do you mean?" Pearl asked quietly. She was thoroughly confused by his rapid change from desperation to something else....

"Hmph, my trainer is a self-serving jackass." He spat angrily. "He only cares about himself and his goals. His pokemon are just stepping stones he uses to get there. He's not a loving wonderful FATHER! He's a narcissistic psychopath. He sure as hell didn't save me in some heroic fairy tale scenario from certain death!" he said this scathingly referring to Pearl's moving story. " He stole me when I was just a pup from my LIVING mother and THRIVING littermates!"

Pearl gasped with horror clear in her voice. It definitely wasn't illegal to take a pup from his or her family but only monsters did that sort of thing. Anyone with morals knew to wait until the pup had reached at least 8 months to capture it unless it was in grave danger or was being visibly neglected like she was as a kit. That way the pup was old enough that their dependence on their mother wasn't nearly as great.

"He raised me with coldness and harsh words. When I was still small and weak he used me as target practice for his stronger pokemon. When I evolved into a powerful Arcanine and refused to hurt other pokemon the way he hurt me he would set his pokemon on me once again. They'd tear at my fur and claw my face until I fought back. All the while he'd watch with the most heartless smile I'd ever seen urging me to become Alpha if I ever wanted any respect. And to top the whole shitty lifestyle off," he said angrily. "The pokemon he raises become just as calloused as he is. They treat their "females" like trash, things to be used for sex and then thrown away. If you asked me to swear that they hadn't raped and attacked countless helpless pokemon I'd be lying. "So if you expect me to leave you for him you're horribly wrong_." "_Pearl I care about you more than I've ever cared about anything ESPECIALLY my team and trainer. Please I'm begging you. Don't leave me."

"No sign of her, here. Damn where could she be!" Torrent slapped his powerful blue tail against the concrete and began to storm back out of the contest hall. "Calm down Torrent, I'm sure she'll turn up soon. Pearl would never abandon us." Heat, the level headed Flareon, hurried to catch up to the fuming water-type so they could resume their search for their missing friend. "Where should we look next?" he inquired sullenly. The contest hall had been their last idea and he was nearly exhausted. His long plush coat and short legs were made for quick sprints and nimble tricky moves definitely not endurance. His tongue lolled out of his mouth as he panted heavily feeling embarrassed as the fit vaporeon, who hadn't even broken a sweat, wheeled around on his powerful hind legs and came back to sit beside him. "It's obvious if you ask me." Torrent began. "What are you getting at?" Heat managed to gasp out his question between pants. "She left to go get some tail," he said bitterly. "How could you not smell it? Her spicy odor was all over the place!" he swished his tail over the ground wrapping it around his blue paws. Heat knew Pearl was in heat but he hadn't really payed it any mind. He was too busy trying to satisfy Lillian. Who had just began to go through her first heat. Her inexplicable urges caused her to follow him around tirelessly begging for sex. At first he had happily obliged every time she was in the mood but it had gotten to the point where he was exhausted and truly burned out. "Yeah I guess that makes sen-"

Heat was cut off by a stern warning from the suddenly focused water -type. "Shhhhhhhhhh!" "Did you hear that?" Torrent whispered as he went rigid fanning out the pearly white fins on both sides of his face. "It sounds like....... Volt and.... the others. Heat pricked up his ears and sure enough he heard the drumming paws of Dusk, Dawn, Volt, and Lillian coming straight for them. He rose to his paws and tipped his head to one side quizzically as they approached at a sprinting pace. The team of stampeding pokemon reluctantly came to a screeching halt to explain their haste and panic to the confused males.

"Volt (pant*) smells (pant* pant*) Pearl and (pant)* some other pokemon in the forest (pant*) by the outskirts of town. Lillian barely finished gasping out her message to Torrent before Volt yowled wordlessly puffing up his spiked yellow fur in his excitement and signaled them to get moving. He barely waited for a response and took off once more. Heat and Torrent exchanged a quick glance realizing how close they must be if Volt was this worked up over a scent trail. They only had time to pause for a moment before sprinting after their siblings, who by now were so far away they were kicking up a cloud of dust on the horizon in an effort to reach their destination.

Pearl stood rigid, weeping freely and nuzzling her lover as she wracked her brain for some sort of solution to this crisis. She didn't want to leave Phoenix. No she DEFINITELY didn't want that. And after he had bared his soul to her, describing his terrible life with his current trainer she couldn't just up and leave him to fend for himself against his abuser. She knew he would surely be enraged at Phoenix's departure and delve out some sort of unthinkable punishment. It was at this moment when the bushes had to begun to shake and a familiar scent washed over her. "May!" Pearl leapt away from Phoenix and stood frozen with panic, as she waited for May to enter the clearing and discover her.

She had no idea how May'd react when she found her here. Anger would be most understandable considering it was the day of the contest. But as Pearl crouched low to the ground and flattened her ears against her head submissively in an effort to show just how sorry she was. She was shocked with what she experienced next. May along with Hazel came barreling through the bushes and only took a split second to asses their surroundings before spotting their whimpering partner. May immediately ran up to her and threw her arms around her neck sniveling as she fought back tears of relief. "Pearl thank god you're okay! I was worried sick what were you thinking?" Pearl slowly stopped whimpering as she realized May's lack of anger and eagerly pressed her nose to May's face licking it softly as they were reunited with one another. Hazel stood off to the side smiling happily and pressing her nose into Pearl's soft plush fur purring with delight.

Somehow Pearl felt as though everything would work out favorably now that May had arrived. She had forgotten Phoenix was even there with them until he began to growl fiercely filling her sensitive ears with the menacing sound. May's head whipped up as she caught sight of the Arcanine. Her eyes stretched wide and gasping she released Pearl, stumbling back in terror as she misguidedly thought the large canine was expressing his intense anger towards her. Pearl wheeled around on her paw, about to reprimand him angrily for scaring her master, when another scent struck her.

It was a mixture of good and unknown. The first thing she scented was a young male a little ways off in the brush quickly closing in on them along with a Gliscor. The next thing she smelled was her teammates as they too hurtled through the foliage in one large pack towards the clearing.

The human managed to arrive first and Pearl took a cautious step back as she regarded the new trainer suspiciously. May quickly took her place next to Pearl never taking her eyes off the Arcanine whose whole frame had begun to tremble furiously with the force of his growls. His white fangs were exposed and they gleamed beneath the golden fur on his muzzle. Pearl knew there was only one explanation for Phoenix's frenzied behavior. His trainer Aaron had arrived.

Aaron wasted no time in getting to the point. As soon as he set eyes on his Arcanine standing on the opposite side of the clearing growling defiantly, rage had exploded inside of him. How dare this useless worm of a pokemon oppose him. He was the master and this Arcanine would pay for his insubordination. He carelessly disregarded the annoying girl and her whore of a ninetales standing off to the side watching him with shock on their faces. He pulled a pokeball from his belt and released the Garchomp within it. " Phoenix you either come with me now and face your punishment," the trainer began menacingly, " or I'll kill you where you stand and leave your body for the murkrow to feast upon!" The Garchomp roared angrily, promising to enforce its masters threats and lowered itself in preparation for the attack order that was sure to come next. At this moment the rest of May's team came hurtling through the bushes.

"Holy SHIT!" Volt who was at the head of the pack dug his paws into the dust and stumbled backwards in an attempt to avoid the roaring monster the stood in front of him. The rest of his pack had frozen completely rigid and fixed the Garchomp with equally terrified gazes. "Wooooah," Lillian regarded the pokemon with an awestruck look and didn't move, realizing that whatever was going on here they were too late to help.

May had gasped with a mixture of rage and shock as she listened to the trainer's threats. She had noticed the way Pearl had gazed upon the Arcanine and had realized just how deeply her partner had fallen in love with the majestic male. She had put up with the trainer's heartless actions until now but she wasn't about to let him hurt a hair on that Arcanine's head let alone injure her precious ninetales'. "Pearl?" The ninetales stole a quick glance up at May and twitched her ears signaling that she was listening. " I know you want to protect that Arcanine from that horrible man. Am I right?" Pearl in response, unsheathed her razor sharp claws and dug them into the soft grass growling and baring her hooked fangs. "Well then," May said taking a deep breath. "Were going to have to battle then."

Pearl felt energy surging through her entire body. It had been a while since she had had a quality battle, and this one was shaping up to be the battle of a lifetime. She felt a smirk crawl across her face as her energy was mixed with confidence, she knew she would have to be knocked clean out before she let Aaron abuse Phoenix any further. She hardly took her eyes off the standoff between trainers and pokemon when May returned the pack of Eveeloutions staring wide-eyed at the scene before them. Pearl almost laughed despite the situation thinking about the frenzied questions and shocked faces of her teammates when this was all over.

"Well?!" Aaron yelled, breaking the tense silence and demanding a choice from the Arcanine. Phoenix, met with this head on challenge glanced over to Pearl. His eyes were filled with desperation and pure need for her support. Without her this fight was pointless , without her his life was-was well it was hardly worth living. Pearl saw this and wasted no time. With a burst of blinding speed she rushed over to his side and pushed her muzzle close to his ear. "I'll never leave you. If we fight together we can beat him back!" Pearl licked him and returned her intense burning gaze to the trainer who watched emotionlessly. Phoenix feeling her support gave Aaron his answer. He lifted his nose in the air snorted condescendingly as though this heartless and most likely insane man was no threat at all.

Aaron began to chuckle quietly and eventually his chuckle built up into a maniacal laugh as he began to speak once more. "Wow Phoenix I would never have thought that you would stoop down so low. Picking that little bitch over your own life. She must've been one hell of a whore for you to leave me for her." Well then I'll make sure you watch her die between the teeth of my Garchomp, before I let my Gliscor snap your neck and toss you like the worthless piece of shit you are!" Phoenix and Pearl both growled in unison daring the boy to make the first move. May took her place behind Pearl and the Arcanine and readied herself for the battle that was about to erupt.

Aaron made the first move. "Garchomp Metal Claw!" "Gliscor Steel Wing!" the giant dragons hooked talons began to glow silver as it charged with surprising speed for its bulk. The bat-like demon sprang into the air using it's tail like a spring and dove towards them as its outstretched wings shone the same color as the Garchomps deadly talons. Pearl waited steadily for May's response trusting her completely. Apparently Phoenix understood that it was best to follow the girls' orders and stood still as well, bracing himself. Just as the pokemon came within striking distance May's voice rang out clear and sharp. "Now both of you use Flamethrower!"

Pearl smiled wide and in unison both pokemon opened their maws and released an intense torrent of searing flames. They combined mid air and grew into one, single, overwhelming wall of flames and slammed into both pokemon forcing them back howling in pain from the burns that now covered their bodies. May wasted no time, she knew that every Arcanine knew Extreme Speed and she wasn't going to put such a devastating and lightning fast move to waste. "Now Pearl Flame Wheel on Gliscor, Arcanine Extreme Speed on Garchomp!" Almost before May finished shouting her order Phoenix had taken off in a crimson blur towards the bulky pokemon that was still recovering from the last attack. "Both of you dodge now! " Aaron countered skillfully. The Gliscor took off into the air far out of range of Pearl's powerful Flame Wheel. Pearl flew out of the failed attack and dug her claws into the dirt steadying herself while splaying her waving tails out around her. Phoenix on the other hand had more luck with his attack. He let out a mighty roar as he leaped into the air, twisted his body around mid flight, and slammed his shoulder into the Garchomp 's exposed chest. It let out a surprised cry reeling backwards but managed to stay on it's feet. Pearl had been so focused on the success of Phoenix's move that she didn't notice the Gliscor circling back around and making a bee line straight for her. "Pearl hurry use Shadow Claw!" May ordered. Pearl reared up on her feet and drew back her forepaw feeling the energy surge around it forming a pulsating darker outline around her white claws. But it was just a second too late. The Gliscor hit her square in the chest with a powerful Steel Wing that knocked the breath clean from her lungs. She was thrown off her hind legs from the force of the blow and lie stunned on the ground.

Aaron laughed outloud unable to contain his intense pleasure towards the sight of the shiny ninetales lying breathless in the dirt. Phoenix sprinted towards her and was by her side in an instant. "Pearl sweet heart please tell me your okay. I don't think I can do this without you." Pearl hearing his voice, felt the strength flood back to her limbs and staggered to her feet panting heavily. They'd have to do much better than a Steel Wing if they wanted to knock her down. "Pearl are you okay?" May called across the make-shift battle field, her voice choked with concern. Pearl squared her shoulders and barked, affirming her well being. A smile spread across Phoenix's face and together they turned to face their enemies.

It was dragging on too long this had to end soon. Despite her bravado that steel wing had been truly power packed and had taken a lot out of her. She couldn't keep going much longer and braced herself as her enemies launched their next onslaught. Garchomp Giga Impact, Gliscor Aerial Ace! Pearl gasped aloud. If these devastating moves hit it would be all over. "Pearl and Arcanine use Quick Attack and Extreme Speed to dodge them!" May called confidently despite the rapidly declining situation. As the charging pokemon drew nearer Pearl and Arcanine dove out of the way just in time, barely escaping alive. This time it was Pearls turn to laugh. She stole a glance over at Aaron. His failed attempt left him enraged, flustered, and confused. Now was a perfect time to attack when the trainer was busy doubting himself and his pokemon. "Pearl Iron Tail, Arcanine just wait and rest!" Phoenix paused to catch his breath and watched intently as Pearl put on a burst of speed and charged down the battle field as her nine tails began to glow. This was without a doubt one of her most powerful attacks. With so many tails the power of this move increased ten-fold. The Gliscor swooped into the sky and dodged but needing to recharge, the Garchomp was unable to move after using the failed Giga Impact and could only watch as Pearl closed the distance between them.

She had already made up her mind. This blow was going to drop that Garchomp. He was NOT going to get back up. She kept repeating this to herself as she used the dug her claws into the ground and using the momentum from her sprint swung her hips around and slammed all nine tails one by one into the Garchomp. The impact sent out a shockwave the pushed everyone in the clearing back a bit sending a plume of dust into the sky. When the grit settled the Garchomp lay starry eyed on its back no longer able to battle. Pearl's heart soared but despite her elation it still wasn't over. The Gliscor was driving towards Phoenix at an amazing speed and slammed into him with the same steel wing that had dealt her so much damage. Phoenix cried out but managed to stay on all fours and take the attack stoically. "Now Phoenix end it! Use Fire Blast!" May was taking a gamble here. She wasn't even sure the fiery canine knew the move but if he did it would all be over soon. She wasn't disappointed with the results.

She watched with growing anticipation as Phoenix clenched all of his muscles allowing pure flaming energy to course through his veins. He growled as he built up the powerful attack. He was forcing all his hurt, all his rage, all his feelings of betrayal and emptiness into this one attack. All the while his body sent out powerful heat waves that Aaron could feel. He was the one that had taught this ingrate the move and knew it was too late for his Gliscor by now. Arcanine let out a mighty roar and released the pent up energy he had been storing. He opened his mouth and a giant ball of fire hurtled towards the Gliscor. Upon impact it bloomed into five separate streams of blazing inferno and when the attack was finished the bat pokemon lay badly burned and knocked out at Aaron's feet.

Everyone in the clearing was frozen with shock. Phoenix stood completely rigid watching the face of his master. Pearl watched Phoenix and May watched Pearl. Nobody budged for a while. Once again Aaron was the first to make a move. With a blood curdling almost inhuman screech he leaped over the fallen body of his Gliscor and flew towards Phoenix, arms outstretched, and fingers curled like talons. Pearl was there in an instant. No, it was over. Aaron had lost and he was going to accept it. If that meant she had to tear the flesh from his bones she'd just have to do that. An enraged growl built up in her throat and she skirted Phoenix, intercepting the madman. He soon realized what was happening and threw up his arm in an effort to shield himself. Pearl reared up and sunk her thorn like teeth into his arm and clamped down. He howled in pain and staggered backwards trying to shake her off. She hung on to him letting her anger towards this monster blot out her common sense. She tasted the salt in his blood as it flowed from the gaping puncture wounds her teeth were leaving. The only thing that kept her from tearing his arm clean off was May's sharp command.

"Pearl! That's enough let go!" Pearl immediately released him obediently turning and glancing back at May who was approaching her. The emotion on her face was impossible to read. "Son of a bitch!" Aaron cradled his maimed arm and staggered over to his pack that lie discarded on the ground. Wordlessly he dug into it and withdrew a pokeball. For a split second Pearl feared the boy would simply recall Phoenix and take off into the night, making this whole fight a pointless waste. But instead he threw it to the ground and dug his heel into it. The capsule shattered into a thousand pieces and almost instantaneously a shining blue light enveloped Phoenix, momentarily blinding him. His pokeball had been broken and he was free, a wild pokemon once more. Before leaving Aaron fixed him with a glare that portrayed so much hate and rage that Phoenix shrunk beneath it whimpering quietly. "If I ever come across you again Phoenix, you better pray to god that you have these bitches to protect you or I WILL kill you!" he turned tail and ran into the forest leaving the three victors alone in the night.

Pearl had no more strength and collapsed onto the ground whimpering weakly as Phoenix lapped at her bloodied fur, once again professing his undying love for her. May approached and sat down next to her with a shuddering sigh. "We did it you two." Her eyes were glazed with exhaustion but she still smiled. "I can't believe what just happened, but we did it.." "Phoenix..... is that what he called you?" Phoenix turned at the sound of May's weakening voice and nodded. "I- I kind of like that name for you.." she continued softly. Phoenix wagged his tail slowly and licked at May's face." There's just one last thing....I need to do." It was becoming increasingly hard for May to finish her sentences and she began to breathe harder from the extent of her exhaustion. Pearl too, was exhausted beyond a healthy point and hardly had enough energy to even wonder what May was up to as she rummaged through her rucksack. Pearl soon joyously understood as May produced and empty pokeball and held it up to Phoenix. "I'm not going to force you to join my team," she began "but something tells me you would like to travel with us." She said this while glancing towards Pearl who blushed slightly.

Phoenix's eyes welled up with tears. This girl was kind and pure at heart. He was certain as he touched his nose to the tiny button and was enveloped in the shining crimson light that his horrid past as a captured pokemon wouldn't repeat itself with this new human. Pearl watched with a loving smile as Phoenix evaporated into the ball which waggled slightly, flashing before giving one final jerk and lying still. May used the last of her energy reserves releasing Phoenix once more and she fell unconscious onto the ground right where she was falling into a deep sleep. Phoenix curled his body around May shielding her from the wind and warming her as he too fell asleep immediately. Pearl took her place on the other side of May creating a ring around her and stared at her family as they slept. She had fought harder than she ever had for the people she loved most.
