Meet Scarlet, Granddaughter of the great Scourge, and his soon to be killer

Prologue

A black kit, white tail tip and paw, scrambled to her paws and looked around. She stood in a dark forest, slimy trees, decaying fungi, and a starless sky, her surroundings were almost as sour as the smell.

She padded forward confusion pricking at her pelt, where am I? She wondered. Suddenly a long-legged, mackerel-striped dark brown tabby tom with a snow-white underbelly padded out into the open his bushy tail stuck straight up. The tom's pale ice-blue eyes seemed to pierce the kit's soul, seeing her future.

"Hello young one." The tom meowed, boldly, "My name is Hawkfrost, what is yours?" he cocked his head to the side in curiosity.

"Scarlet," The black kit replied shyly, she glanced around not sure whether she was in danger or not, "Where am I?" She looked up into his piercing blue eyes, fear pricking at her pelt.

"Welcome to the dark forest, granddaughter of the great Scourge!" Hawkfrost said the name with a voice filled with disguised hate, and fake admiration and the kit bought it.

"You know my grandfather?" She looked up in awe, "Was he as amazing as I've heard?"

"No, sadly." Hawkfrost replied, sitting down, "He has fallen from the right path, he must be stopped, you must stop him." Hawkfrost laced his voice with sadness.

"What happened, what did he do?" Scarlet asked, her eyes widened in surprise.

"He killed the great Tigerstar." Hawkfrost was a master lier, the kit fell for each and everyone he told. Hawkfrost slowly rose to his paws and padded away. "You must defeat him!" The tom called as he disappeared into the darkness. Soon darkness claimed Scarlet and she fell endlessly in the dark void her sleep undisturbed by anything.

Chapter 1

Scarlet awoke, her head rose of her paws, and she looked around. Dew glistened on the grass, the hill she lay upon overlooked a twoleg town. Scarlet rose, stiffly, to her paws the dew had stiffened her joints, stretching, she picked up her tooth studded collar in her jaws and flipped it over her head, securing it around her neck. Scarlet made her way steadily towards the sleeping town, She stopped at the entrance to the town, her memory flickered quickley over her travels. She was in search of her grandfather, Scourge. Even though she'd been told otherwise, she had reason to believe he was still alive, She pushed forward into the twolegplace, ignoring the fearful glances at her. Since the battle with the forest cats, Bloodclan had spread far and wide, she'd be lucky not to meet any members here.

Scarlet turned down a alleyway and was met with an overturned crowfood can, a mouthwatering scent came from the silver can. The rest of the alley was dark, a large green and black crowfood bin sat in the shadows, the only thing visible. Scarlet padded over to the overturned can, scratching at the strange black material encasing a piece of meat.

"Need some help?" Scarlet whipped around, glaring at the fox colored cat who had made the offer. "No." Scarlet replied, turning back and slicing open the black casing finally. The fox colored tom moved closer

"Fine you can get your own food." The tom meowed. "By the way the name's Archer." He lifted his head with pride, "Kind of a legend."

"Never heard of ya." Scarlet replied gulping down the chicken, Archer winced like he'd been clawed, "Sorry I only just got here, I didn't mean to be rude." She meowed quickly. "I'll be going soon though."

"Oh, Where are you going?" Archer asked, recovered from the verbal injury. "I'm searching for my grandfather." She replied beginning to pad away, Archer was following her before long.

"Oh a family reunion, sounds fun." The tom meowed, matching her step for step. She glanced at him.

"I'm not looking for bonding time, he's got blood on his paws, I'm going to cleanse him." Scarlet meowed darkly, they left the alley and back on the main street, shiney monsters sat in their dens attached to the twoleg dens. Most cats that noticed them recognized the iconic tooth spiked collar, only a few acted like Archer, oblivious to the meaning of the studded neck ornament. Suddenly a loud bark rung out behind them, Archer spun around,

"Run!" He took off down the street, Scarlet pelting after him, and a massive dog bounding in pursuit of them both. They dashed around corners and leaped low ledges till finally the dog slowed, losing interest in them. Scarlet and Archer skidded to a stop panting. "That was close." they meowed at the same time, "Come on, we need to keep moving," Scarlet replied, and they set off once again. It took till sunfall to reach the edge of the Twolegplace.

"So, how exactly are you going to find this grandfather of yours?" Archer asked, glancing quizzically at Scarlet.

"I just travel in one direction till i'm told to change direction." Scarlet replied, the forest creeping towards them, the final rays of the sun disappearing below the horizon, and the Twolegplace shrinking behind them.

"Oh, who tells you?" Archer asked, curiosity sparked in his eyes.

"A friend I hope to keep a secret." Scarlet replied, the image of Hawkfrost flashed briefly in her mind, As they entered the forest.

Scarlet awoke, the darkness slid back around her revealing the slimy, sour smelling forest, the place of no stars. She scrambled to her paws, Hawkfrost apeared like a ghost and padded confidently up to her,

"You're doing great." He meowed, his tail slid down her back. "Keep it up, avenge Tigerstar!" His eyes blazed with the hunger for blood, but almost as quickly as it had come it was gone.

"I will." Scarlet replied.

"Remember, don't let him fool you," Hawkfrost replied, his voice icey calm, "He may be your kin, but he must be stopped!"

"Yes, and I'm the one who will stop him." Scarlet meowed, bodly, she looked into his eyes, feeding of the admiration and affection she saw there.

"Your going in the right direction," Hawkfrost continued, "but you could easily pass your next landmark it's big unmissable but most would prefer not to travel through it, travel with caution." With those words he began to fade along with the surrounding forest, soon Scarlet floated in an empty void, then she blacked out.
