Chapter 10

Scourge Flung himself at Firestar, he landed where Firestar's Head would have been seconds ago, Firestar was on him in a second, but Tigerstar, unlike Scourge, was there as Firestar trained, he knew all Firestar's moves, it didn't take long for Tigerstar to Overpower the Flame colored tom that he had wanted to kill for so long, Tigerclaw summoned the move that Scourge used to kill him and, attacked!

Scourge awoke his paw soaked in the blood of his leader, his brother Scourge leaped to his paws a scratch ran across Firestar's pelt, it was bleeding, bleeding a lot,

"Scourge." Firestar whispered. Scourge crouched in front of Firestar, "I'm sorry." Scourge meowed, his pelt hot with shame, guilt pricking at his heart, as the ice that had incased it for so long shattered, "Noo!" Scourge yowled, his grief welling up. "I can't lose you." Scourge meowed, as Firestar's eyes closed, and he stopped breathing. Scourge layed down and pushed his head into Firestar's pelt. "No!" Scourge whispered into Firestar's pelt, "He wasn't supposed to win."

"He didn't." Firestar meowed, his eyes shot open, he only took a life. Firestar scrambled wobbly, to his paws. Scourge supported Firestar by pressing against his shoulder, and they made steady progress towards the final thunderpath.

Scourge stopped at the edge of the thunderpath, Firestar leaned of Scourge and laid down. "Need, to, rest." Firestar stammered, panting heavily. It didn't take long for Firestar to get back to his paws. "Ok let's go!" He meowed bounding across the thunderpath followed by Scourge. They didn't stop at the other side, they'd wasted too much time, they bounded at full pelt, they slowed as the ground grew rockier, the ground grew less soft losing its grassy layer. "We're here." Firestar meowed. He padded forward, Scourge in tail, they quickly made there way to the flat rock. "No time to rest." Scourge meowed, "The moon's almost up" Scourge led Firestar into the tunnel. The darkness in the tunnel was absolute, and the air was freezing, Scourge fluffed up his fur against the cold. The air here had obviously never seen the sun. The tunnel suddenly lit up, the moonstone Scourge thought, we're missing it. Firestar and Scourge padded into the cavern the moonstone shone a brilliant white, Firestar padded up and laid down touching his nose to the stone's cold surface, Scourge followed and did the same, cold shot through his body and he was plunged into darkness. Scourge awoke in the dark forest, Oh no, Scourge thought. "Welcome back." Tigerstar stood before him, Scourge was so distracted that he didn't hear the fast approaching pawsteps till it was too late! A cat slammed into Scourge at full speed, and scourge went rolling, claws locked with claws! "Scourge, I've wanted to kill you for so long." Ruby growled as she slammed his back into the ground, Scourge slashed his paw up, and he caught her on the jaw, blood poured from the wound and White teeth glistened beneath. As the blood fell away, horror creeped up Scourges spine as he saw straight through the cheek to her jaw. She hit him with a swipe of her claw, and that jolted him from his shock. Scourge leaped away from her slashing claws and leaped onto her back, his claws just slid off leaving tracks of blood that wore away to bone. Scourge rolled of her back and landed with a thud as she leaped on top of him, her head pitched up in triumph and Scourge threw up his paw and as she flung her head down for a killing bite she impaled her throat on his claws. "Uhg!" Scourge meowed rolling his dead sister off him only to be jumped on by Socks. Scourge bucked his brother of his shoulders and spun to face him, Socks leaped, claws unsheathe, at Scourge. Scourge met his claws with claws of his own and slung Socks against a tree, the black cat lay there winded as Scourge went for the throat, killing him easily. Scourge spun to face Tigerstar who was bounding to meet him, Tigerstar leaped, and Scourge reared to meet him. Scourge was flung to the ground, Tigerstar on top of him. "Get ready Scourge!" Tigerstar growled. "I'm going to put you in a lot of pain." Tigerclaw picked the small cat up in his jaws and flung him against a tree, Scourge felt the impact and feared he might have broken a bone, but no time as Tigerstar landed on him, slashing claws across Scourge's muzzle. Scourge rolled out from under him and leaped to his paws, blood dripped down his jaw as he leaped. Tigerclaw batted him away like a pesky flea, Scourge hit the ground and rolled landing back on his feet. Is he unstoppable, is this where I die? Scourge thought with fear. "Not so tough here?" Tigerstar meowed, "I'm in control." Tigerstar padded slowly but menacingly at Scourge suddenly he leaped, nocking Scourge onto his back, Scourge felt Tigerstar pushing him into the ground. Suddenly Scourge went through the ground, the world went pitch black, the only color being a white outline around Scourge and a red one around Tigerstar. Major details were outlined like eyes, nose, muzzle, and, paws. "Ha-ha," Tigerstar yowled in triumph, "I've unlocked your soul, now I can remove you and take your body. Tigerclaw leaped at Scourge, although he couldn't see any blood, Scourge felt claws break skin as they tumbled. Scourge pulled away and scrambled to his paws, leaping, he landed on Tigerstar's back and dug his claws in. Scourge was about to bite down on Tigerstar's neck when the massive tabby flipped, crushing Scourge beneath him, the wind was nocked out of Scourge. No, Scourge thought, I'm losing! Tigerclaw slammed his claws down onto Scourges chest, forcing him down, Tigerstar took one paw and forced Scourges head back, revealing Scourge's neck. "Now I take what is mine." Tigerstar meowed in triumph lifting his head to bite Scourge's throat out. Wait, Scourge thought, this is my soul, I should have more power, and I do! "NO!" Scourge yowled, suddenly the world flipped, Scourge was now holding Tigerstar down. A white triangular outline floated in Tigerstar's chest, Scourge plunged his claws into the tabby's chest, Tigerstar screeched in agony as Scourge ripped his soul from Tigerstar's chest. The Dark warrior faded away, Scourge had reclaimed his soul! The world flipped once more leaving him, once again, in the dark forest alone. Scourge padded through the rotting forest, soon he was able to see a light in the distance, he broke through the trees and into Starclan's hunting grounds. Firestar sat in the clearing, sharing tongues with Spottedleaf, Firestar looked up and when he spotted Scourge he got to his paws. "Welcome." Firestar meowed, padding up to Scourge and brushing his muzzle against Scourge's. "I'm free of him." Scourge whispered. "I did it." Firestar opened his mouth to speak, before he crumpled to the ground. Scourge shot up, he was in the moonstone cavern, he dashed to Firestar's side. The flame colored tom was unconscious. His wound had been reopened, oh no, Scourge thought, he could lose another life!

Chapter 11

Scourge nosed his way under Firestar's shoulder and draped the flame colored tom over his back, I won't let you die on me, Scourge thought as he padded out of the cavern. He took care not to let Firestar's pelt drag on anything as he padded through the tunnel, Scourge finally exited the freezing tunnel and laid Firestar down on the flat rock. Scourge dashed into the trees and he soon came across a hollow log, Scourge checked in the log, yes, Scourge thought, cobwebs! Scourge stuck a paw in the log and pulled out a paw covered in cobwebs. He then limped back to where Firestar lay bleeding. Scourge stripped .the cobwebs from his paw and layered them on Firestar's wound.

"I'm no medicine cat." Scourge meowed to himself, "Hope I'm doing this right." Scourge re-laid Firestar across his spine and began the trek home.

Scourge stopped at the Windclan border. Better take this slow, he thought. Scourge padded past the scent line and continued into Windclan territory, He'd soon passed the spot where Windclan had stopped them before. Scourge wasn't even surprised when he smelled Windclan, it was bound to happen. He stopped, laid Firestar on the ground and waited as the Windclan patrol dashed bounded down the hill.

"Scourge- Great Starclan what happened to Firestar?" the leader of the patrol asked warily. "Fox." Scourge meowed thinking fast, "We were leaving the moonstone, and a fox leaped out of the bushes. He fell unconscious soon after."

"Take him to our camp our medicine cat, Barkface can treat him." The leader meowed.

"Ok." Scourge replied, he nosed his way beneath Firestar's shoulder and set off after the Windclan cats, they stopped at the top of the hill, at the bottom lay a dip that looked like a giant paw had scooped a bunch of earth out and filled it with brambles. Scourge followed the Windclan cats as they plunged down the hill and pushed through the entrance to the Windclan camp after them.

"Barkface's den is this way." The leader of the group padded away, the rest of the group dispersed into the clearing, as Scourge followed the leader who padded into a den at the end of the clearing closely followed by Scourge and Firestar. Scourge laid Firestar down in the nearest nest as a cat padded into the medicine clearing.

"Oh my." Barkface meowed, before disappearing into his den again. A few moments later the medicine cat returned with some herbs and fresh cobwebs, he began to replace the cobwebs while adding a mixture of herbs beneath them. Barkface suddenly sat back with a sigh. "That's all I can do for now." The medicine cat meowed. I should run to the thunderclan camp to tell Cinderpelt, Scourge thought.

"Can I trust you to not hurt Firestar, I must run to the Thunderclan camp to speak to Cinderpelt." Scourge meowed, warily.

"No need to worry, Tallstar wouldn't allow Firestar to be injured in his own camp. He's saved too many lives." Barkface meowed, indicating Firestar with his tail.

"Thank you." Scourge meowed, he then turned and padded out of the den. Onewhisker padded up to Scourge as he entered the clearing. "I heard that Firestar's in the camp." Onewhisker meowed.

"Medicine den." Scourge meowed before pushing out through the camp entrance. Scourge bounded across the moor, leaped the stream and plunged into the forest. Scourge turned onto the beaten path, slowing as he neared the camp entrance.

"You're back, wait where's Firestar?" Cloudtail meowed, he'd been guarding the camp entrance.

"I must speak to Cinderpelt." Scourge replied, ignoring the question, as he pushed through the camp entrance. He made his way quickly to Cinderpelt's den, pushing through the fern tunnel he met her sorting herbs in her clearing.

"Scourge, you're back." Cinderpelt meowed, getting to her paws.

"Firestar is in the Windclan camp, unconscious." Scourge meowed, urgently. Cinderpelt's eyes flashed with worry.

"Ok let's go." She limped out of the medicine den and into the clearing closely followed by Scourge. They pushed through the fern tunnel and entered the forest together.

Onewhisker paced in Barkface's den. "Is he going to die?" Onewhisker asked.

"I don't know," Barkface replied, solemnly, "he's in the hands of Starclan now."

"It's nearly sundown, do you think Scourge is coming back?" Onewhisker meowed, stopping his pacing as Cinderpelt padded into the den followed by Scourge, "oh, never mind." Onewhisker meowed.

"How is he?" Cinderpelt meowed.

"He's not waking up tonight, the bleeding just stopped, and he lost a lot of blood, but he's still alive." Barkface meowed. "I'll check again tomorrow. You can stay here if you want I have extra bedding."

"Thank you." Cinderpelt meowed gratefully, curling up in one of the free nests. Scourge wasn't ready to sleep though, he sat down beside Firestar.
