Day at The Park
#1 of Short Stories
Archer awoke, glancing around the room, the room was in shadow and Jade was curled up in the corner of the crib they were both in. Archer sat down on his padded rear, noticing suddenly that he was wet. I hate diaper changes, he thought, they're so embarrassing. It had been two weeks since he had been turned into a cub, Alex had gone out of his way to get every baby item available. Even matching onesies for him and Jade, Jade's said padded kitten on the rear, while his said padded cub.
Jade suddenly began to stir, lifting his head, Jade said. "Mowrning, big brother."
"Good morning." Archer replied, as the door opened and Alex walked in. "Everybody's up." Alex said, turning on the light.
Archer blinked the dazzle away and looked up at the Arctic fox, named Alex. "Can we go to the park?." Archer asked.
"Sure." Alex replied, lifting Archer from the crib, "but I'm going to have to change you first." He carried Archer over to the changing table, set him down on it and, grabbing the needed materials, got to work. Alex untaped Archer's diaper and cleaned his private area before lifting Archer's legs by his ankles and slipped the wet diaper out from under him. He then he rolled it up and threw it away, slipping a clean diaper beneath Archer and taping it closed.
"There we go, all clean." Alex lifted Archer off the changing table and set him on the floor beside Jade and walked out of the room, Jade and Archer in pursuit.
"Park!" Jade exclaimed in excitement, as he chased after Alex, with Archer trailing behind.
"We're here!" Alex told them as he pulled to a stop. Archer looked out the window, green grass stretched as far as he could see, crisscrossed with gray paths and the occasional tree or bench.
Alex opened the car door, unbuckled both toddlers and left them to the back of the van.
"Ok, no running off." He said as he pulled out a large blanket and a bag. "Let me know if you wanna go somewhere so I can come with you." He continued, then he locked the car and they walked into the park.
"Can we set up near the pway ground." Jade asked, looking up pleadingly into his eyes.
"Sure." Alex replied, changing their course towards the playground. Reaching the playground he set up the blanket and began to pull out the food.
"Go play, I'll be here with the food when you get hungry." Alex told them, continuing to set up the food.
"K!" Jade and Archer chorused, dashing off to the playground.
