Chapter 2 & 3 of Scourge Second Life

Chapter 2

Firestar, Cloudtail, Sandstorm, Longtail, and Willowpelt sat in Firestar's den.

"Well, now that Scourge is here, how do we get rid of him?" Cloudtail meowed seriously.

"Look, I know it's dangerous, that he is dangerous." Firestar meowed, trying to calm everyone down, he paused, "Scourge is the strongest enemy I have ever fought but like it or not, he could be useful for us."

"I am sooo not okay with this!" Sandstorm replied, looking angrily at Firestar.

"We kill him before he kills us." Longtail meowed, coldly.

"You think he was a pain in the butt during the battle, try living with him!" Sandstorm meowed to Firestar.

"Sandstorm is right," Longtail meowed, stating the obvious, "Firestar, he's not leaving us a lot of options."

"I agree with Longtail ... We gotta kill him." Willowpelt meowed, nervously

"Really? Just like that? I thought you would have been like:" Longtail meowed to Willowpelt, "Nooo we can't, he's a cat, it's wrong!" Longtail continued, imitating Willowpelt's voice. Everyone looked at longtail awkwardly.

"Listen, we've already had this discussion several days ago. Since his wounds are healing unusually fast, he will be able to start working for us from now on. I've just sent Graystripe to Scourge. He will keep an eye on him." Firestar replied firmly.

Dustpelt padded past Graystripe as the Striped tom took up his post watching Scourge.

Scourge awoke to a gray tom with dark gray stripes

"Morning sleepyhead, what were ya dreamin about?" the tom asked. Unbelievable! Who does he think he is? Talking to me like that, Scourge thought before leaping to his paws "I presume you think you're funny." Scourge replied in annoyance.

"I think I'm adorable." The tom meowed, a smirk on his face then he paused, and continued more seriously, "Just so we are clear, Scourge, you're damn lucky that Cinderpelt was the one who found you. Every other cat would have killed you immediately."

"Nice, threats. And who might you be?" Scourge asked, unimpressed.

"I'm Graystripe."

"How creative." Scourge replied, sarcastically, after he glanced at the tom's pelt.

"Indeed!" Graystripe meowed, "And this may come as a shock, but I'm not here to hang out with you. I'll keep an eye on you."

"Is that so?" Scourge meowed.

"We all know that you're up to something." Graystripe meowed. "No one here is trusting you. So don't get any ideas!" Graystripe glanced up and noticed Firestar carrying a mouse. "Here's one of the first things you have to learn. As a warrior of Thunderclan you may not eat until you caught prey for the rest of the clan. So better keep that in mind if you wanna stay. "

Scourge watches Firestar, frowning, "A real goody-goody." Scourge looked up as a young tom walked up.

"Hi Scourge! Watcha doin?" The young tom meowed, "I'm Ashpaw and I just wanted to say that it's so cool to finally get the chance to meet you! It was awesome how you managed to get rid of Tigerstar!"

" You certainly are a noisy one." Scourge replied.

"Please! Take me on as your apprentice!" Ashpaw meowed.

"Huh?..." Scourge meowed.

"Just an idea, but have you ever considered not every single thought that crosses your mind need to be spoken out loud?" Fernpaw whispered to Ashpaw.

"And you are?" Scourge asked.

"I'm nobody!!! I mean- um... It doesn't matter who I am. You can just think of me as talking air." Fernpaw meowed quickly and nervously.

"She's Fernpaw, my sister!" Ashpaw meowed enthusiastically.

"My, how interesting." Scourge meowed, sarcastically.

"How did you survive Firestar's attack on you? Everyone saw your dead body." Ashpaw asked.

"It wasn't that hard really." Scourge meowed, proudly, "I just turned at the last second, changing the attack from fatal, to nearly fatal. Then I just played dead, the battle was over, I thought I'd wait till you all left, regroup, and come back."

"Why didn't you?" Graystripe asked seriously.

"Firestar had done more damage than I realized, If it wasn't for Cinderpelt I would have died." Scourge replied, as a tom walked up.

"Scourge!" The tom meowed.

"No... It couldn't be" Scourge meowed, thinking of Tigerstar.

"My name is Bramblepaw, Tigerstar's son!" Brambleclaw meowed.

"I see." Scourge meowed, Interested.

"I know that you are here to take revenge on Firestar. But I won't let you. I'll kill you first."

"I'm interested ya see," Scourge meowed, getting to his paws, "What drives a son to turn on his own father?" Scourge meowed accusingly.

"H-huh. . ." Brambleclaw meowed, taken aback, "He was evil."

Scourge laid back down. "Pathetic." he meowed.

"You filthy-"Brambleclaw began.

"Pathetic fool. Just who do you take me for? It would be appropriate to mind your tongue." Scourge growled, cutting him off. " You don't have to be so rude to him." Ashpaw meowed to Brambleclaw.

" No one ask you for your opinion!" Brambleclaw growled at Ashpaw.

"I'm not scared of you!" Brambleclaw meowed to Scourge.

"Why yes, you are, actually. And with a good reason." Scourge meowed menacingly, grinning.

"Now now, Scourgepaw. Play nice and be a good apprentice." Graystripe meowed mockingly.

"Excuse me, are you referring to me?" Scourge meowed his pelt fluffed angrily.

"Well, for every young cat, there comes a time, when it must learn all the important things in life." Graystripe meowed, ignoring Scourges question. "Firestar wishes me to be your mentor." Graystripe paused, "from this day forward, young Scourgepaw, you will be my apprentice!"

"What?!" Brambleclaw meowed.

"Oh, you've got to be kidding me!" Scourge groaned.

"Yeah!" Ashpaw yowled joyfully

"We're doomed..." Fernpaw meowed.

Finally alone again. Scourge thought, this filthy lunatic of a cat. I just met that grey striped moron and I already want to kill him, Scourge thought, he and all the other fools will pay for humiliating me, he paused mid thought, I wonder... Will Tigerstar really stick to our deal? Will he release my soul once I wiped out this pathetic clan? I certainly can't count on it. Why does he have to shadow my live even after his death? Darn it! There must be some other way to break free. But how... Will he really take over my body if I don't make it in time? Suddenly he noticed a older White tom approaching

"Good evening Scourge. My name is Whitestorm, Firestar's deputy." Whitestorm paused. "Do you mind if I sit down for a little while?"

"No, you're welcome. It's a pleasure to meet you." Scourge meowed politly

"Thank you." Whitestorm paused, "you know.... you don't have to sit so far away." Scourge didn't reply.

"No one trust you at all, do they?" Whitestorm teased kindly

"It seems not." Scourge replied.

"If you want to earn someone's trust you have to prove yourself to them. And the way things are you've got a lot left to prove to everyone." Whitestorm meowed smiling, "Firestar was once in a similar position."

"You don't say" Scourge replied with slight interest.

"He was a kittypet when he arrived in our camp." He meowed gently. "Many cats didn't want to accept him back then. They thought he would be too weak to become a true warrior. But what do you know? Now he is our leader."

"I see" Scourge replied.

"Scourge, our first priority is looking out for each other. We're not just a clan. We're like family and we will support you on your way of becoming a warrior. If you allow it.' Whitestorm paused, "Firestar and Cinderpelt gave you a chance for a new life. Use it." he looked at the sky, "And please remember this, whatever you do or don't do, you're the one who always makes the decision. Don't forget that." after that he padded away.

What was that all about? Scourge thought, what's with all these crazy cats? Did they all forget who I am? A sudden chill went through Scourge's body. He noticed Tigerstar's growing shadow above him. His glowing red eyes seemed to drill into his own...

I trust you're ready to begin... Tigerstar meowed breaking into Scourge's thoughts. I really hate being underestimated like that. I fought until there was nothing but blood. It was total pleasure. That's who I am! Leader of Bloodclan! Yes, I will end them! Scourge chuckled crazily, Get ready for what's coming Thunderclan! Suddenly the cold feeling slowly left his body. Scourge realized that Tigerstar just demonstrated his power over him. Screw them... Scourge thought. A sick feeling coming over his body.

Chapter 3

Scourge sat under a tree and waited for Graystripe, who was bringing him something to eat. "You made me wait. Not smart." Scourge meowed, arrogantly, as graystripe put a small mouse in front of him.

"Excuse me, but are the words thank you even in your vocabulary?" Graystripe meowed.

"Be careful of what you say. I would kill you at the spot if it wasn't for Firestar." Scourge meowed, menacingly.

"Same here." Graystripe paused, "But the other way around. Besides, the only reason I bring you food is because Cinderpelt keeps telling me over and over again that for some reason she thinks someone like you deserves to eat."

"You call this food? Please! Any experienced cat can tell you that food must be aged in a trash can before it is ready for meal." Scourge scowled.

"Yah, whatever you say,." Graystripe chuckled, snatching up the mouse and eating it himself. Mmm hmmm, delicious!" Graystripe paused. "Warrior rule number three, apprentices may not eat until they have hunted to feed the elders. Understood, Scourgepaw?"

"Would you quit calling me that?" Scourge meowed angrily.

"Want a different name? Alright then, how about Grinchpaw,- Evildoerpaw?... No?... I know! Villainpaw!" Graystripe meowed mockingly.

"Our conversation has reached an end. Be gone." Scourge meowed

"I've got just the right job for you to start with. Follow me, my young apprentice!" Graystripe meowed.

"You realise of course that I'm a former clan leader and working for others is beneath me." Scourge meowed getting to his paws.

"You will do what I tell you or Firestar kicks you out of Thunderclan." Graystripe meowed teasingly. Scourge grumbled and followed him into a den made in an old tree.

"It stinks like old cats in here. What kind of nonsense is this?" Scourge scowled.

"You'll see soon enough." Graystripe meowed

"Oh my my... Now look at this. We have a new apprentice, now have we? Ohhhh, he looks like a fine young warrior. Wouldn't you agree Smallear?" An old cat meowed.

"He's not an apprentice, Oneye. That's Scourge, our prisoner. What is he doing here, Graystripe?" Smallear replied, harshly.

"Say, is he Firestar's son? He's got the same tufted ears you know." Oneye meowed.

Oneeye tried to grab one of Scourge's ears.

"Paws off crazy old cat!" Scourge meowed.

"I'm telling ya, he is not a member of Thunderclan!" Smallear meowed.

"What did you just say?" Oneeye replied.

"He is our enemy!" Smallear tried again.

"No silly. Whitestorm is our deputy." Oneeye replied.

"Enemy!" Smallear repeated

"Yes, yes! This kitten will do just splendidly as an apprentice."

"Well, that was just a whole lot of pointless." Scourge meowed trying to leave.

"Not so fast!" Graystripe meowed, Blocking his way with a paw.

"That paw moves any closer and you're dead." Scourge growled menacingly.

"If I'll die I gonna hunt you, Foreeevvvvvver!" Graystripe teased.

"How satisfying. You're proving yourself to be every bit as clever as you look." Scourge meowed mockingly.

"You better learn your place outsider!" Smallear meowed.

"Scum like you is no match for me." Scourge replied.

"Now, now boys, there is no need to be so rude. Dappletail meowed, turning to scourge. "I'm sure you can learn the ways of a true warrior if you just give it a try. Life in the forest is not always easy but as long as we all stick together-"

"Don't sugarcoat everything for him. He shouldn't be here." Smallear interrupted.

"Ugh! I'm done." Scourge meowed, dashing outside.

"Hey Scourge! How is it going so far? Isn't it great in Thunderclan?" Cinderpelt called.

"It's a dream come true." Scourge replied sarcastically.

"There has never been a report about any medical trauma from swallowing your pride you know." Cinderpelt meowed, Scourge didn't reply. "C'mon, don't you feel all warm and fuzzy helping the elders?"

"Very fuzzy..." Scourge meowed Sarcastically

"Anyway, I better get going. You boys have fun!" It's hard to believe how fast he's recovered. Firestar's attack should have killed him, Cinderpelt thought And yet in less than a week he is walking around like nothing ever happend.

"Oneeye's ticks are waiting for you, Scourgepaw." Graystripe meowed, stepping out of the elders den.

"It's official. I hate you." Scourge meowed.

"N 'aww, I hate you too." Graystripe mocked.

Scourge stepped into higher grass and several mice appeared

"Alright Scourgepaw, you gotta catch 'em all!" Graystripe meowed. Scourge rolled his eyes and crept closer to the mice.

"Quiet now. Easy does it." Graystripe meowed.

"Stop being so noisy!" Scourge growled, the mice dashed into the long grass, disappearing from view.

"Scourgepaw, please, you're embarrassing yourself in front of the mice." Graystripe meowed.

"That was your fault!" Scourge meowed in annoyance.

"Just keep telling yourself that." Graystripe meowed.

"Ohhh Scourgepaw!" Graystripe called

"What do you want from me now you lunatic? Go! Don't go! Do this! No, do that! Make up your mind already! Why do I get stock to following your stupid orders?!" Scourge ranted angrily.

" Well, you don't have much of a choice. And what's so wrong with the idea of helping others in need?" Graystripe meowed.

"Spare me your foolish ideas! A warrior who has lost his ability to fight is only going to be in the way. They're useless. So why care about them?" Scourge meowed carelessly, unaware of Cinderpelt's presence nearby.

"Now look what you've done!" Graystripe meowed, noticing the gloomy look in cinderpelt's eyes as she padds away.

"And what would be your point?" Scourge meowed.

"Go after her and apologize immediately!" Graystripe replied

"I've had about enough of these orders of yours. I won't do anything." Scourge Growled

"You are way out of line here. That's it! You're going down!" Graystripe replied

"You fool dare to challenge me? You're even dummer than I thought you'd be." Scourge scowled.

"Oh yeah?! Let's fight and the winner is the smarter one!... W- wait- that didn't come out right... "

"You seriously wanna fight that pipsqueak?" longtail meowed, as he padded up. Graystripe laughed at that.

"Small minds are easily amused." Scourge meowed mockingly, and gaining a growl from Graystripe

"I really don't see why we should bother about him. I bet it was pure coincidence that he killed Tigerstar. Isn't that right, Tiny?" Longtail meowed teasingly. Scourge leaped at Longtail and ripped off a big part of his remaining ear.
