Roses - A Good Day

~~~~~~~
Notes: Here's Chapter Three of my newest series Roses. I've been chugging away on Those Forgotten and piecing this together as I went. There's no actual sex here, only dreams. It also kind of builds the world, Roses takes place in 2217, one hundred and forty one years after "Titans of the World," another series I'm sill working on. Anyway, life has hardly changed except for the technology and architecture... enjoy.
(Chapter Three)
~~~~~~

Aidan woke to the sound of a soft beeping that was steadily growing in volume. He groaned as he turned his head so that he was able to talk, "Yes Jacob?"

"I'm terribly sorry Master Aidan, but I'm afraid that it is time to wake up," the soft disembodied voice of Aidan's house called. Aidan groaned as he sat up, swinging his legs over the side of his bed as he rested his head in his hands, rubbing his eyes.

"Thanks Jacob," Aidan mumbled as he stared at the floor.

"Of course Master Aidan. Would you like the know the weather?"

"No, but give it to me anyway," Aidan sighed. It was the middle of summer... in Texas. He knew what the weather was. Hot.

"It is currently 91 degrees outside and sunny, zero percent chance of precipitation. The high will be 105," Jacob said. "Would you like me to prepare your coffee and toast?"

"Please," Aidan said as he shuffled towards his house shoes and slipped them on. As he walked down into the kitchen, his coffee rose up out of the counter-top, the delightful aroma filling his nose as he smiled, rubbing his tired eyes. As he walked towards the coffee cup, a plate of toast slid up near him. Grabbing both, Aidan flopped down in his seat with a grunt and took a big swig of his coffee as his mother walked in.

"Good morning!" Fey said in a chipper voice as she set her briefcase by the door.

"Mmm," Aidan said as he looked up from his coffee, his mother walking towards him.

"I'm the adult, I thought I was supposed to be the coffee junkie."

"Yeah, well, unlike someone else I know, I'm not a morning person."

"Well, I'm one lucky vixen. I do enjoy mornings, and I'm lucky enough to have a son like you," Fey said as she gave Aidan a peck on the cheek. As she walked away, she looked back over her shoulder and took a huge bite out of a piece of toast, winking at Aidan as she munched away.

"Hey!" Aidan said as he looked down at his plate. "No fair!"

"All is fair in the game of breakfast wars," Fey said as she went to the counter and ordered some orange juice. "You looking forward to flying today?" Fey asked as her glass rose from the counter.

"You bet I am. I'm going to shower first, then go get Beau."

"Okay, but you be careful out there, and I mean it. No funny business, no speeding, and no, I mean absolutely NO, barrel rolls. Okay?" Fey asked as she grabbed her briefcase and made her way to the door.

"Yes mom," Aidan answered back with a nod. With a smile, his mother was out the door and on her way, leaving Aidan with what was left of his toast, coffee, and thoughts of last night. Aidan lost himself in the memory of that scandalous little show that Beau unwittingly gave him last night. The husky's huge cock, his even bigger knot, and going down on himself! Oh god, that was a real treat to watch. Aidan was smitten with the sexy, violet eyed husky and he couldn't wait to spend the day with him. He felt a connection to the guy and just the mere thought of spending more time with the husky made him smile. It was with those thoughts that Aidan scarfed his toast, chugged his coffee, shortened his shower, and dashed out the door ready and excited to see Beau.

~~~~~~
Beau was panting as he thrust into Aidan, jack-hammering his cock faster and faster into the hybrid's tight little ass. His knot was pounding against Aidan's already rosy pucker, demanding entrance as both Aidan and Beau began to moan louder. Beau slowed his thrusts but increased their ferocity, gradually forcing his knot past Aidan's sphincter with each thrust.
"Beau..." Aidan yelped as the knot slipped into him. Beau's hips began to move even faster in his limited space.
"Beau!" Aidan moaned, seizing Beau's shoulder as he came on himself. Seeing this, Beau came too, grinding his cock as deep within Aidan as he possible could as it fired rope after sticky, musky rope into his rear.
"Beau... wake up!" Aidan panted beneath Beau.
"What?" Beau mumbled as he tried to catch his breath.
"Wake up," Aidan said, shaking the husky.
"Oh, you've got to be kidding me," Beau moaned as his dream faded away.
~~~~~~

"Beau, wake up!" Aidan called as he shook the sleeping husky again. Beau started, then slowly pushed his body up off of the bed before he fell back to his mattress. "Aidan, what are you doing in my room?" Beau mumbled sleepily.

"You need to get up, we have school today," Aidan said, trying to get the husky to get out of the bed. The husky sighed as he sat up, the covers slipping down his back and pooling over his groin as he turned and placed his feet on the floor. Beau then raised his arms above his head, his muscles becoming more pronounced as his entire upper body flexed in a stretch, joints popping and his muzzle falling open as his tongue curled in a yawn.

"Ugh, I'm so sore," Beau said as he rubbed his shoulder and glanced at his alarm clock. He did a double take and his muzzle fell open again. "Aidan, it's only 7:30! School's not for another hour and a half!" Beau groaned as he threw a pillow at the hybrid.

"Wrong!" Aidan retorted as he threw the pillow back. "School is in 30 minutes!"

"What!?"

"Yeah, school starts earlier here."

"Shit!" Beau mumbled as he pulled back the covers and stood up. Aidan gawked, staring straight at Beau's furry package. Beau scratched himself and stood there, eyes sweeping the room in his sleepy stupor. He was looking for his clothes and seemed to be totally ignorant to the fact that he was butt naked in front of his neighbor. Finally, he took notice of Aidan's open mouth.

"What?" the husky asked, his eyes dulled with sleep.

"You're, umm... you're naked," Aidan mumbled as he tried not to look interested. The boner he had proved otherwise.

Beau yelped as he grabbed a pillow, placing it over his groin as he frantically searched the floor for his shorts. He quickly slipped them on and apologized to Aidan as he left for the bathroom. Aidan remained where he stood for a few moments, utterly stunned at what he saw. It was like the husky had no concept of decency or was used to walking around stark naked. After Aidan tried to clear the image of the first-rate view of Beau, he followed the husky to the door and waited just outside, shouting when he heard the water start.

"What are you doing?"

"Taking a shower!"

"There's no time, you're gonna make us late and we need to get you there early!"

"Damn! Can I at least take a sonic shower, I'll only be a second."

"I guess, just hurry."

Beau switched off the water and turned to a long unused control panel. Programming it, he dropped his shorts and stepped into the shower stall, closing the door and his eyes. There was a quiet hum as warm air started to blow on Beau, a ring in the shower moving down slowly, casting a blue light as it slowly stripped him of all excess oil and dirt in his fur, leaving it fluffy, soft, and clean. Beau quickly wrapped himself in a towel and grabbed his sonic brush as he walked out of the bathroom and back to his room, closing the door and leaving Aidan in the hallway again.

"Hurry up!" Aidan shouted as he beat on Beau's door. Aidan heard Beau fall in his room and shuffled around before he came running out. Aidan didn't even bother to avert his eyes again. Beau was clothed in only a shirt, no pants or underwear, and the dog's prodigious sheath and balls were Aidan's to view yet again.

"Pants!" Aidan shouted, trying to stare for as long as possible without being too obvious.

"Pants!" Beau yelled, disappearing back into his room with a slam of his door before quickly returning and trying to run down the hallway again.

"And jacket," Aidan said, throwing a leather jacket at Beau's face.

"Jacket! Jacket? What do I need a jacket for?"

"We'll be flying at 230 miles an hour, it's gonna get a bit chilly."

"Right, thanks. Wait, is this real leather?"

"Yeah."

"This must have cost a fortune!" Beau said as he pinched and rubbed the leather between his fingers.

"Probably. My dad bought it for me, but it's too big. He thought I would grow into it, be more like him, but it would appear I take more after my mom. I got her eyes and size, just not the fur or tail. Did I tell you my parents edited the genes of my brother and I before we were born?"

"No."

"Well, they did. Somehow, I still got her eyes." Aidan said before looking at the wall as if he was staring into the distance, speaking wistfully. "Sometimes I wish I got the full deal, or at least the tail, not just the eyes. Now I have to wait a year to get the gene therapy like my brother, he's a full fox now."

"Really? Isn't that amazingly expensive?"

"Yeah. You know, I'd kill to have a tail, something to be a bit proud of. I'm tired of being called a halfbreed just because of my eyes."

Beau looked up from the jacket and stared for a moment at Aidan. "What's wrong with your eyes? I like your eyes."

Aidan shook his head, breaking his trance to look at Beau with a quirked brow. "Excuse me?"

"I said, I like your eyes," Beau said before tensing up and trying to cover up what he said as he rubbed the back of his head and looked down. "Uh, I mean, they're nice. Wait! That still didn't come out right. Your eyes, they look good... on you..."

"Relax Beau, I know what you mean, and for the record, thanks. I needed to hear that," Aidan said, smiling warmly at the dog.

"Your welcome," Beau replied, sliding on the leather jacket. "Hey, it fits."

"Then keep it, I'll never wear it."

"Wow, really?"

"No. Give it back... of course you can keep it."

"Thanks," Beau chuckled.

"Your welcome. Now, we really need to go!" Aidan said as he walked down the stairs and out of Beau's house.

"Wait, I forgot my backpack!"

"What do you need that for?"

"My books."

"Books? You mean real physical books, made out of paper and stuff? My books are digitized to my wrist comp. Don't you have one?"

"No," Beau said, his ears folding back on his head as he flushed red. "We can't afford one."

"Well that's silly. Hold on, I'll be right back," Aidan said as he ran back inside his house. He came out less than a minute later and handed Beau an old wrist comp. "Take this, it's three years old, but--"

"I couldn't--" Beau started, trying to hand it back.

"You can and will. Come on, we're going to be late," Aidan said, stuffing a helmet in Beau's hands. "You're gonna need one of these too," Aidan said as he wrapped a pack on himself.

"What's that, a flight pack?"

"No, it's a jump jet."

"A what?"

"Jump jet, a glorified parachute... with rockets."

"Para what?"

"Uh, never mind. They're from back when this thing was made... a bit primitive, but we had them checked and certified, they're safe. Now, come on Beau, we need to go!" Aidan said as he mounted the bike, pulling back on the controls a bit and getting the motors to roar as he set the bike into a hover. Beau quickly climbed on and Aidan pulled back hard on the controls, sending the bike soaring high into the air. Aidan turned the thrust to max and quickly accelerated the bike on his way to school. Beau grabbed onto Aidan, wrapping his arms around him in an attempt to keep from falling off, the stick-pad seats keeping them in place.

Aidan tore past fliers on his bike, trying to get to school in the shortest amount of time. Aidan's concentration slipped for a moment as he focused on the warmth of Beau radiating onto his back. He turned his head, just for a moment, to look back at Beau. Time seemed to slow as Aidan stared into the deep, violet pools that were Beau's eyes, but they were open wide in panic and the husky was yelling. Aidan turned around quickly, an alarm sounding as a warning flashed red across the screen. He was nearing the back of another flier quite fast. Aidan quickly pushed on the controls and sent his jet-bike into a barrel roll around a car that was heading the same way, but quite a lot slower. Aidan hit the air brake hard and pulled over, turning to check on Beau as he shook on the back of the bike.

"Are you okay?" Aidan asked, holding Beau's helmet. He flipped the visor up as he felt the dog's head nod, but he was still shaking severely.

"Thank god. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare you. I'll take it slower from here," Aidan said, letting go of Beau.

"Good!" Beau squeaked, flipping his visor down.

As Aidan turned back to his controls and readied his bike, the car he rolled around flew by at a very slow pace. To Aidan's horror, it was Brad Cooper, the last person he ever wanted to see. The grey wolf was staring menacingly at Aidan as he cruised by, and Aidan's breath caught in his chest.

'That's not good,' Aidan thought as he merged back into traffic, moving at a much slower pace.

When they got to the school lot, Aidan pulled in, ready to land in an empty spot when Brad pulled up next to him.

"Hey, Shepherd, who's that? Your new little fag bitch? I always knew you were a fag!" Brad said with sneer on his face.

Aidan growled in his throat, revealing that his hybrid heritage ran deeper than he thought before. Why was he so protective of Beau? He didn't know, but he knew he wasn't going to allow Brad to get away with that. Aidan's stopped growling as he suddenly had an idea. Aidan drifted his bike near Brad, flipping his visor up so he could talk.

"Hey Brad, do you know what happens when ion wash hits composite flight panels?"

"What? What the hell kind of question is that?" Brad asked, looking at Aidan like he was a moron.

"The answer, Brad, is that they melt," Aidan said as he turned his jet bike sharply next to Brads flier and goosed the throttle, shooting hot jet wash across the front of Brad's car as he sped off to find a landing spot. Brad ducked down but his fur still got singed. Sitting back up as the heat receded, Brad spun his controls, following Aidan and landing not to far from him and storming up quickly behind Aidan as he dismounted the bike. Brad whipped Aidan around and pulled back his arm to punch Aidan and let his fist fly, but his hand was caught by a metal blur, his fist now encased by a prosthetic hand. With a whine, the servos in that hand started to bare down on Brad's fist. First he fell to his knees, growling until he yelped in pain and pulled his hand away.

"Fuck!" Brad shouted, doubling over and cradling his hand as he stared up at the owner of that prosthetic hand. Aidan looked and instantly recognized the owner as Jude, his best friend, a tan shepherd mix with floppy ears.

"You're not hurting one of my friends, Brad!" Jude yelled as he stepped in front of Aidan.

"This isn't your fight, mutt!" Brad said as he stood up straight, walking towards Aidan. Jude blocked him, grabbing Brad by his shoulder and pushing him back.

"I'm making it mine. Now back off," Jude said, slowly increasing the pressure on his hold, the servos whining again as Brad winced and then snarled, dropping to his knees and clawing at Jude's metal arm.

"Fine!" Brad yelled, pulling away quickly when Jude released him. "You're tough with your friends around, but lets see how tough you are when they're nowhere to be found. This is far from over Shepherd," Brad yelled from where he stood, rubbing his shoulder.

"Oh? It is definitely over Brad--" Jude interrupted and took a step towards the threatening wolf. Brad stepped back. "--because if you even think about hurting either one of them, I'll crack your skull. If you lay a hand on either one of them, I'll break it. If you even say one WORD to them, I'll break your fucking jaw." Jude's temper grew as he spoke and by the time he had finished that last sentence, he was baring his teeth and nearly snarling at Brad.

"You wouldn't..." Brad said, taking a step back.

"Oh, I soooo would. I'm sick and tired of bullies like you, so lets make things crystal clear. If you hurt them, or anyone for that matter, and I hear about it... well, this--!" Jude shouted as he brought his prosthetic arm up to Brad's face, "--is going to bury itself so far into your stomach that I'll be able to grab your spine, and you'll be holding your intestines in your arms the whole way to the hospital. That is, assuming you even make it there alive."

"You can't do that!" Brad said as he took another step back.

"Maybe not, but do you want to find out?" Jude said, stepping closer to Brad again.

Brad's ears fell back in submission, his tail tucking between his legs as he walked quickly to his car. Jude laughed as Brad ran, his tail wagging as he shouted after Brad, "You big pussy!" Turning around, he smiled at Aidan and the shocked Beau.

"Thanks!" Aidan sighed as he opened a compartment on his bike and started to store his helmet away.

"You're welcome!" Jude said after laughing. "God knows how long I've wanted to do that to him. So, who's this?" Jude asked, pointing at Beau as the big husky dismounted the bike.

"This is Beaumont, my new neighbor."

"Beaumont, like the city?" Jude asked.

"Yes," Beau answered as he pulled of his helmet and handed it to Aidan.

"I'm Jude, nice to meet you," Jude said as he stuck out his prosthetic hand. Beau stared at it for a moment before shaking it firmly, smiling at the mix breed.

"Wow," Jude said as the handshake ended. "You actually shook my hand. I have to switch to my left hand a lot because most people won't."

"Well, I'm not like most people."

"Yeah, I can tell," Jude said with a smile. "So, is this the jet-bike you've been bragging about Aidan?"

"Yeah, mom let me fly it finally. Nice, huh?"

"I'll say, I like it. How fast?"

".3, maxed out. So, not very."

".3, really? My grav-car can do .5! That can't be right, with a drive like that, it should be much faster. Do you have a screwdriver?"

"Uh, yeah," Aidan answered, digging through his pack as Jude crouched by his bike, running the mechanical fingers of his prosthetic over the fairing on the left side of the bike.

"Got it!" Aidan said, handing his screwdriver to Jude.

Jude paused as he looked at the screwdriver. "Is this sonic? I though everyone went laser a long time ago?"

"They did, but you can do so much more with the sonic versions."

"Right, whatever," Jude said, clicking the device on and pointing it at the cracks of the panel in the fairings.

"What are you doing, anyway?"

"Well, this is a Takima Patrol bike. The Japanese made them back during the oil wars. It had ducted fans, hydrogen fuel cells, the lot. It was totally ahead of it's time, and pretty quick too, but this one here looks modified to work in a vacuum. Where'd you get it?"

"Well, my dad found it in the refuse hold of a derelict. He thought that it might have been used by some speed freak, but it was really slow. Anyway, he planned to use it as a tug, with the drive being so big and all, but it just never had power."

"Ah-ha!" Jude shouted as the panel came off in his hands, revealing a control interface hidden beneath and covered in dust. He cleaned the screen and it lit up a dark green, bright green text scrolling across.

"Whoa! I didn't even know that thing was there!" Aidan said as he stepped in closer.

"Most people don't, but old war tech is a research hobby of mine. I'm going to run a diagnostic and see what it says."

The diagnostic scan took about 30 seconds to run and afterwards, it threw up several yellow lights over different systems.

"Ah, here's the thing. You have a power circuit that's not active, so you've been running only on back-up power. You were hitting .3 on just the thrusters! Want me to connect the main power back?"

"What do you think! Hell yeah!" Aidan said, buzzing with excitement at the thought of his bike being faster. Jude tapped a few screens, and gave the sonic screwdriver a twist before pointing it towards the bike. There was a resounding click as the extra circuits and power cells were engaged. The main drive came online with a deep thrum of power and the screen lit up green across the board.

"Inertial dampening, high velocity thrusters, an ion drive out of a shuttle, and a portable fusion reactor. Wow, this thing never had ANY of that when it came out, whoever had this wanted a lot of speed and had a lot of money. Aidan, with this set up, you could pull a 10g turn and come out the other side feeling like it was only 3 and still have enough power to break Mach while doing it. Whoever modified this wanted some power, these could only hit .43 back in their heyday."

"Wow," someone whistled from behind the three as they gawked at the bike. Turning around, it was another one of Aidan's friends, a border collie named Max.

"Hey Max," Aidan said as he stared at the bike.

"Hi to you too," Max replied, just as in awe of the bike as everyone else. "Is this your bike? The one you've been bragging about?"

"Yeah," Aidan mumbled as he watched Jude tap at more icons, bringing up more menus, activating more systems.

"Hey Aidan, you still have the old rail guns on this thing. I wonder if they still work?" Jude mumbled as two hatches opened in the front of the bike, two square barrels popping out and a high pitch whine building as they cycled up.

"Don't!" Aidan shouted, looking down at where the guns were aimed. Down range of Aidan's bike, Brad was looking over the damage on his car and shooting dangerous glares in Aidan's direction before he paused in horror as he saw the guns swivel to his car. Brad dived inside for cover as Jude hit fire, but the whining just stopped, nothing happening as a red light started to flash on the panel.

"Relax, I knew it wouldn't work. I just wanted to see him run," Jude said as he brought the guns back in.

"I'm going to kill you!" Aidan yelled, punching Jude on the shoulder, his fist glancing off the steel with a thud.

"Can I make you laugh first? Watch this!" Jude said as he typed something on the screen. "Now you see him, now you don't," Jude said, snapping the panel back in place and giving Aidan his sonic screwdriver back. As Jude stood, Brads car took to the air, the wolf screaming as it accelerated away and straight to a distant -but well known and popular- gay bar that Jude had programmed as its destination.

"What did you do?"

"Oh, I hacked Brads car with an old police system. He might make it back sometime before the end of school, but I'd like to see if he comes back with a limp!" Jude said before he explained where he sent Brad. As they all sat around, laughing at Brads misfortune, the school bell rang, signaling that there was ten minutes before class started.

"Crap, we have to go get your schedule and check you in!" Aidan said, grabbing Beau and running off towards the office. "I'll see you two later!" Aidan shouted back at Jude and Max as he ran, pulling Beau along.

"Bye!" Max and Jude called after the two as they watched them run off.

Aidan and Beau rushed into the office and hurried to print Beau's schedule, but the computer froze and flickered for a moment, pulling the schedule back in and reprinting it. Grabbing the schedule and skimming though it, Aidan paused as he realized that Beau had all the same classes as him.

"Beau, this is really weird," Aidan mumbled as he handed the husky his schedule, looking him in his violet eyes. "You've got all the same classes as me."

"What! Wow, that's so cool," Beau said as he looked over the schedule. As Beau poured over his schedule, Aidan called up a display of the books Beau needed before grabbing the holograms and matking a tossing motoion towards Beau's wrist. The wrist comp beeped as the books downloaded themselves right before the warning bell rang, announcing 1 minute before the start of class.

"Crap, come on!" Aidan shouted, dragging Beau along as they rushed to their class. They ran though the empty hallways and rounded the corner to see their teacher standing outside his door, slowly closing it as he walked in. Aidan pulled Beau along as he took off in an all out sprint, rushing to make it before the door closed. The husky and hybrid slid in just as the final bell went off, panting and out of breath.

"Close call Mr. Shepherd, glad you could make it today. Is this our new student?"

"Yes, Mr. Adams," Aidan panted as he handed him Beau's schedule.

"Alright, take your seats," Mr. Adams said calmly as he stepped up to his board, his hologram flickering as he walked through his desk. "Today's lesson is over the oil wars."

~~~~~~~
With the shrill ring of the bell, students flooded the hallway in droves, Geni and Humans meandering the hallways on their way to their last class of the day. Amongst the crowd were Aidan and Beau, on their way to the gym. Pushing open the large door to the locker room, it revealed the nightmare of banging lockers and the musky stench of sweat.
Both boys wrinkled their nose at the smell before Aidan led Beau to a free locker near his. Aidan slowly stripped down, trying to avoid watching Beau, but failing. His eyes kept flicking over to take in the sight of the strong husky, his built upper body revealed yet again. It was then that Aidan felt himself starting to grow erect and stopped, staring straight ahead to fight it, trying to think it down. He only partially succeeded.
"Hey, you okay?" Beau asked, breaking Aidan's string of concentration.
"Yeah, fine," Aidan squeaked, yanking his gym shorts up and quickly pulling his shirt on.
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah," Aidan said, looking over before he snapped his head back. "I'm fine. I'm fine." Leaving the locker room, Aidan looked around until he found Max and Jude. The border collie and shepherd were deep in conversation when Aidan and Beau sat down next to them.
"No, you are absolutely wrong! Aidan, tell the stubborn mutt that he's wrong!" Max asked with pleading eyes.
"Jude, you're wrong," Aidan said with a stern look.
"Ha! See!" Max shouted in victory, waiving his hand in front of Jude's face.
"Okay, now do you want to tell me what he's wrong about?" Aidan asked, poking a hole in Max's victory balloon.
"Oi," Max mumbled, slapping his palm to his forehead. "Jude, you win."
"I know," Jude answered back with a smug grin. "So, Beaumont, enjoying your first day at Fox High?"
"It's been interesting, to say the least."
"Good or bad interesting?"
"Good. Most definitely good."
Their conversation was interrupted by the shrill whistle of the coach, calling all students to snap to attention in a rough grid. The stretches they were led through were rather easy for Aidan, he had always been extremely flexible. The push ups were ridiculously easy too, especially for Jude, as he so aptly demonstrated by doing one arm push ups with his prosthetic limb. However, looking over he noticed Beau was wincing and cringing the whole way though his stretches. After the exercises were over, the coach led everyone up four flights of stairs and out onto the schools open track and field, also known as the roof. Jude and Max became enveloped in another petty argument as they mounted the stairs and Aidan used that time to see if he could get some information from Beau.
"Hey, you alright?"
"Yeah, I'm fine. Why?"
"Well, you looked like the stretches were killing you."
"They were, I haven't stretched like that in a week and I'm still recovering from my surgery."
"Huh?"
"I was on the swim team at my last school, pretty damn good too, if I do say so myself. I set 3 new state records, but I kind of hurt myself in the process."
"Oh."
"Yeah, I dislocated my shoulder and tore a bunch of ligaments. The doctor said I would be lucky to ever get back in the pool, let alone swim competitively again. That's why I have the pool, I spent my savings on it so that I could try to get back into the swing of things. Didn't I tell you that?"
"No."
"Oh, well... Now you know."
"That I do," Aidan acknowledged, nodding to himself.
"Alright, we're playing football today. Line up." The coach said, forcing students into a long line as he tossed a football up and down. He sped down the line, numbering everyone "one" and "two." By the time Aidan and Beau realized that he was dividing the team, it was too late, Beau didn't have time to switch with the person next to him and he was assigned to the opposite team. Jude and Max, however, did and landed themselves with Aidan, as always. "Okay, play ball. Cannon, ball's yours," the coach said as he tossed the ball to Jude. The shepherd mutts whole team shouted with joy, all except for Aidan that was, he had to play against his new friend.
~~~~~~

"Okay guys, we're up by two and class is almost over. We just need to keep them from scoring a touch down and we win. New guy, what's you're name?" The doberman quarterback asked.

"Beau. Call me Beau."

"Yeah, you. I want you on the far side of the defensive line. Take out Aidan, he's the fastest on their team and between him and Cannon, they could pull back the lead. Got that?"

"Yeah!" Beau answered back.

"Alright, break!"

Beau lined up as he was instructed, his ears perked for the sound of the other team's quarterback. With the simple utterance of a word, he was off like a rocket, streaking past the others and straight for Aidan. Right as Beau neared Aidan, ready to keep the ball out of his hands, his footpaw caught on the uneven surface of the worn field and he tripped. Aidan met Beau's wide eyes with equal fright as the husky tried to recover before ultimately failing as he collided with the hybrid and brought him sliding to the ground.

Aidan and Beau tumbled end over end before the husky landed haphazardly on top of the smaller hybrid, knocking the breath out of the both of them. With a groan, Beau pushed himself up just a bit, shaking his head as he tried to right himself. As his did, his lips brushed past Aidan's and they both tensed. Beau pushed himself back a bit further as he met Aidan's eyes with panic on his features. Aidan looked just as surprised, but not at all upset. Locking eyes with each other, Beau knew what he wanted to do. Slowly, he brought his muzzle lower to Aidan's face, closing his eyes as he moved to kiss him. Closer and closer his muzzle dipped until he was a hairsbreadth away from making contact with Aidan, but the shrill sound of the coach's whistle assaulted their ears before the kiss could be made, and Beau became very conscious of where he was. Opening his eyes, Beau rolled over and off of Aidan, quickly standing.

'This close!' Beau screamed in his mind as he helped Aidan up. 'This fucking close to kissing him and ruining everything!'

No one else seemed to notice what had happened out there, they were too busy either celebrating or mopping over the game, and that gave Beau and Aidan time to walk quietly back to the locker rooms. Beau received a few pats on the back as he changed quietly next to Aidan, but he didn't utter a word, he just gave a half hearted smile.

"Hey Beau?" Aidan said, finally speaking up. He watched as the husky seemed to visibly flinch.

"Yeah?"

"What do you say that we skip the showers today and head straight home? I'd like to use my own shower for a change, considering I can get us home without spending an hour on that bus."

"Okay," Beau answered, he looked visibly relieved.

Toweling off as much sweat as possible, Beau and Aidan both redressed and walked back to their school lockers to grab their flight gear. The flight back was much more calm and serene then Aidan's panicked one earlier that morning, but it was just as tense and much more silent. This time, Beau held the grab handles of the bike rather than holding onto Aidan. It was like he was distancing himself from the hybrid and Aidan was somewhat disappointed. Thoughts of Beau's lips brushing against his kept coming to the forefront of his mind and it was all Aidan could do to push those thoughts to the side and fly. Push away thoughts of those silky soft lips, how warm they were, and the look in Beau's beautiful violet eyes. Aidan tried pushing them away, but he failed every time.

Aidan landed his bike in his drive with a whoosh of hot air, turning it off with a sigh before flipping up his visor. Beau was the first one off the bike and he was already removing his helmet and rubbing his ears. Aidan too reluctantly removed his helmet and jacket before dismounting the bike. He wished they were still in the air, at least there he could push this awkwardness out of his head. Beau had accidentally kissed him and then nearly kissed him again. It wasn't that Aidan didn't enjoy it, but he didn't know if Beau meant to do it. The husky had gone silent since he tackled Aidan, barely acknowledging a word the hybrid said. Aidan knew he had to do something to break the ice somehow.

"Hey Beau?"

"Hmm?" The husky answered, his tail and ears falling back in worry.

"Why don't you come over in a little while, we can hang out again," Aidan said with a smile as he laid his helmet on his bike. He watched as Beau's ears and tail suddenly perk up a bit, that curly fluff ball swaying slowly behind his rear.

"Sure, that sounds awesome. I'll be over in a little while, I think I want to shower first. I kind of reek." Beau said with a smile, laying his helmet down next to Aidan's.

"Me too," Aidan chuckled. "See you in a bit."

"Alright," the husky said with a nod and a smile. "See ya."

Beau departed, walking away to his house and leaving Aidan to stand in his driveway, staring at the curled tail of the violet eyed dog as it wagged itself away and disappeared into its owner's house. Even after that tail had long gone, Aidan stared blankly at the spot Beau had been for a moment before he shook it off and pushed his bike in the garage. With a sigh, he walked in and gave his mother a kiss.

"Well, that was unexpected. Good day?"

"The best!"

"I'm glad to hear that. Whoa, you stink!" Fey shouted, covering her vulpine muzzle with her hand and backing away from Aidan.

"Yeah, I skipped the showers. I'm going to go take one now, is that alright?" Aidan asked.

"Alright? I was about to drag you there by your ear and throw you in," Fey said, pushing Aidan towards the stairs. Aidan's stomach growled as he marched up the stairs and Fey laughed at him.

"Someone's hungry."

"Yeah, I am. What's for dinner?"

"Smoked salmon, but I'll make you a snack."

"Thanks, that sounds good. Is there enough for Beau if he comes over?"

"Sure, you want me to make him some?"

"Please, he's coming over in a bit," Aidan said before he rounded the corner of the stairs.

Once upstairs in his room, Aidan set his privacy screen on and sighed as he unstrapped and removed his wrist comp. Then, taking off his shirt and grabbing some new clothes, he went across the hall to his bathroom and mindlessly started the shower, warming the water before stepping in and relaxing, trying to clear his mind. What happened in gym class kept playing through his mind. The feeling of being so close to Beau, the twinkle in those violet eyes as the husky smiled down at him, the way that curly tail wagged, the smile whenever they made eye contact. Aidan sighed as he stepped out of the shower, dried and dressed himself before crossing the hall and tossing himself on his bed. Putting his hands behind his head, Aidan closed his eyes and saw violet eyes.
