Galaxy and her adoptive father take a little family trip to visit her grandpap.

The sun shone bright that morning. The rays of the brilliant light spilled into the room, illuminating it with a warm, yellow aura. A young wolf slept under covers that matched her own coat, breathing softly. A notification lit up her phone, but it made no sound as the ringer was off. The time displayed on the phone was 9:55. She normally would have woken up by now, but she had stayed up later than usual finishing a writing piece she was determined to finish.

Suddenly, the door creaked open. Hooves quietly stepped along the floor, bringing a large yellow-furred Minotaur into the room. He smiled down at the sleeping wolf as he slowly approached the bed.

"Galaxy, pup, time to wake up," he said softly, putting a hand on her shoulder.

The lupine just groaned as she turned around, opening her eyes a bit.

"Whyyy? It's a Saturday..." she sleepily protested, rolling back to sleep.

The Minotaur chuckled. "Kid, we're going to see your grandad today,"

At that, Galaxy shot herself up. "Really? Woo!" She hollered as if she were a small child. The Minotaur patted her head as he turned around.

"I'll be making breakfast. You get dressed and brushed your teeth, ok?"

"Will do dad," Galaxy affirmed, quickly hopping out of bed. She hurried over to her dresser and pulled open the middle drawer. After digging around for a few moments, she took out a tank top with a spatial pattern on it, and a pair of light-blue shorts. She quickly changed out of her pajamas and into her chosen clothing. After checking her fur in her hand mirror, she raced out of the door and happily skipped down the steps, practically bouncing into the kitchen.

"Someone's in a good mood," her father laughed, flipping a pancake.

"Well yeah, I hardly get to see grandad," Galaxy said.

"I'm sure he'll be happy to see you too, but in the meantime, you should focus on getting food in your stomach."

"I know, I know," she flopped her head as he put down a plate of pancakes in front of her.

They were a fluffy brown color, and were drizzled with tawny maple syrup. Grabbing a fork, she began to wolf it down (a bad habit among her species). In no less than five minutes, the pancakes were totally devoured.

"Woah, you made quick work of that, kid" the minotaur said, taking the plate.

Galaxy smiled at him, and he took the plate to the sink.

"You get your things together, I'll be ready in a minute."

The wolf nodded, and hurried upstairs. She returned to her room, and looked back at the mirror. A few moments later, she heard her phone buzz, and walked to it.

'Hey sis!' A text read. She smiled; it was her older brother, a leopard named Bogu. They hadn't talked for awhile, not like they had much time as he was in another country at the moment. However, she always loved her brother, and she knew he loved her.

'Hiya bro!' she replied back.

'How ya been?'

'Great! I'm going to see Grandad today'

'Awesome! Tell him I said hi, alright? Gtg'

With that, she slipped her phone into her pocket and rebounded downstairs. As she skidded into the mudroom, there her father was waiting.

"Ready to go?" He asked.

"Indeed I am!"

The minotaur gave her a smile and opened the door. Full of excitement, the wolf leapt off the step and raced through the garage, and into the clear, summer air.

"Are we going by train this time?"

He gave her a chuckle. "Indeed we are."

The two began down the little street of their neighborhood. It was pretty quiet, so no one was out at the moment. Galaxy skipped along the sidewalk as her father walked behind. It was a warm late-spring day, so the weather was perfect. After about five minutes of walking, the two made their way into the town. It was a fairly small town, yet people were bustling about everywhere. Shops, vendors, performers, on-goers, and all sorts were rushing around the streets. The two were used to the busy streets, so they cleverly maneuvered around the civilians. Awhile later, they reached the train station, and sat down on a bench.

"The train should come in 15 minutes," the minotaur informed her, texting something on his phone.

"Alrighty," she replied, and took out her own phone. She opened a random Wikipedia article, reading about some novelist who wrote a book she read once. She wondered if she could write a book of her own; she had plenty of ideas for it. While fantasizing about what it may be about, she lost track of time, and the 15 minutes her father mentioned came to a quick close with the roar of the train. She shook herself out of her dazed state, and hopped up with the minotaur. As the train came to a screeching halt, the two went aboard as the doors slid open. They sat down where they often did, two little seats in the front near the window. After a few minutes, the train's engine fired up again, and it slowly crept until it began going at its usual speed. The young wolf enjoyed looking out the window, as she found it rather therapeutic.

The trees whizzed by, and the line of the ocean was beginning to come into view. Galaxy's ears perked up, as this meant they were getting close. A smaller town began emerging from the trees. After about five more minutes, the train came to a halt at a small station. The two got up from their seats. They exited the train, and made their way into the fairly rustic town. It was smaller than their own, and far more laid-back. Galaxy excitedly ran about the streets, knowing the place by heart. She came across a gravel street, and darted along it. She approached a house embedded in trees, and the familiar sight brought warmth to her heart. Leaping up the stairs, she knocked happily on the door as the minotaur caught up behind her.

After a few moments, the door opened. There stood a very tall Sergal. He was a bright purple neon color with orange on the tips of his body. When he noticed the wolf in front of him, his face lit up.

"Galaxy!" He exclaimed, as the young wolf hugging him tightly. "How have you been?"

"I've been great!" Se replied happily.

"She's been writing like a living typewriter," the minotaur chuckled, catching up to her.

"So I've heard," the sergal smiled at him. "Come in."

Galaxy happily skipped past him into his home. It was quite a humble place, and a comforting aura hung about it.

"How's life been, son?" She heard her grandfather say to the minotaur, sitting down in the living room.

"It's been going very well! I've got engaged, actually! A lovely dragon named Ovi," he happily replied.

"Oh really? I'll have to meet him."

"He's really nice! And he's PINK!" Galaxy shouted excitedly.

The sergal laughed. "Is he now? Must be an interesting fellow."

"Yeah, he's been telling me about the stuff he gets up to," her father said.

He began to trail off about his fiance. The young wolf slipped away and bounded up the stairs. She reached the top and sped to the room nearest to the end of the hall. She opened the door to a somewhat small room. The atmosphere was similar to the rest of the house, but more... Quiet. Maybe it was the sun beaming along the cream-colored walls, or maybe the wind blowing softly into the room, making the curtains flutter ever so slightly. She walked over to her neatly-made bed, and flopped onto it. She turned onto her back and sighed contently. The warmth of the room caused her eyelids to become heavy, and she soon drifted off, comforted by the tranquil room.
