#2 of A New Life

A quiet escape and a new home

Sabrina walked with the dragon arm in arm as they made their way towards the lobby to await his trainer. She tightly pressed herself against her new companion as she felt his warm embrace. Guilt still tore at her even though he seemed to pretty much just forgive her for what she did. He squeezed her against him reassuringly. "By the way you never told me your name. Mine is...was Sabrina but I am not so sure I wish to keep that name after all I did under it," she said looking down as guilt threatened to overtake her once more. Before her thoughts could take over he interrupted her. "I like that name I think it fits your bewitching nature," he said a stupid grin plastered across his orange muzzle. She couldn't help but giggle. "Oh my god that was so cheesy....but thank you its good to know at least one of us still likes the name," she said quieting down before burying her face into his chest. "Sabelian or Sabel for short," he said nuzzling Sabrina. Eventually the two of them made their way to the waiting room. "How's the horde doing?" she asked Sabel. "They're still in a lot of pain and walking hurts them," he said gingerly sitting down wincing as his swollen orbs bounced off his thighs. "I can rub some more cream into them if that'll help," she said placing her hand on his thigh. "Heheh....no that would leave me with another issue to deal with," he said grinning. "That hardly sounds like a problem to me," she said before kissing him on the cheek softly. The pair settled down and relaxed with Sabrina drifting off listening to the dragon's powerful heart beating away in his chest. She was awoken some time later by a new voice talking to Sabel. "Who's your new friend?" said the voice as Sabrina groggily untangled herself from the dragon. "Wh..wha?" she asked sleepily. "OH MY GOD WHAT HAPPENED TO YOUR BALLS," suddenly exclaimed the voice snapping Sabrina completely into the waking world. She sat up and stretched eyeing Sabel's trainer who was currently busy checking in on her mon worriedly. "I'm fine just bashed up that's all," he said softly trying to reassure his trainer. "No, we need to get you checked out to make sure that you haven't been permanently damaged," said the trainer jabbing her finger into the charizard's chest. "And while you're getting checked over by the nurse we're going to find out who did this to you," she said turning to Sabrina with an accusatory stare. She found herself unable to entirely meet the trainers gaze. "What happened to him," she asked her worried voice hardening. "And why shouldn't I just have turned over to the authorities," she continued surprising Sabrina. Without the dragon nearby Sabrina couldn't hold back the guilt anymore and began sobbing and shaking. "I...I'm sorry I didn't know his plans," she choked out quietly as she buried her face into her hands tears forming in her eyes. "Stop that, she's the only reason I'm still intact at all," interrupted Sabel. Gingerly he made his way back over to the crying mon and wrapped his leathery wing around her. "I'll let her tell the story but please don't hate her. She was forced into it," he said pulling Sabrina close to his body. "Why shouldn't I?" asked the trainer. "Bec," started Sabel before the trainer interjected, "On my way to pick you up I find out there's been a trainer attacked and one of his mon castrated while another was badly burned. And he himself was rendered sterile and she's the one who did it," said the trainer holding up a news story with Sabrina's face plastered across the front. "Good the bastard deserved to lose his balls. For what little he had," said Sabel a smirk forming on his face. "How can you..." started the trainer. "I'll tell you what happened but please I don't want to stay here I fear they will either force me into the wild or worse," said Sabrina finding her voice once more. "....I don't like this but ok," said the trainer. "Ok I'm going to need you to get in this pokeball," she said setting a red and white ball on the table. "I'm not going to turn you in...not yet at least I need to know what happened and why you're connected to both my charizard and the attacked trainer," she said as Sabrina quietly nodded. The trainer opened the ball and Sabrina went inside hoping greatly that she wasn't about to be forced into the wilds. For the time it was all she could do.

Eventually she found herself let out as she landed on cool grass. Looking around she saw they were in a yard. "Wh...where are we?" she asked blinking in open air. "Ok we wont be bothered here now lets find out your story," said the trainer. "Ye..yea ok. Where should I begin," asked Sabrina looking for Sabel. "Yea he's not gonna be out here he's getting looked over to make sure his baby makers are still functional," said the trainer. "He'll be around later for now its just you and me. Now please what happened," she continued. "Why did you attack my dragon like you did. Why did your trainer....i guess ex trainer now...do what he did," said the trainer. "I wasn't present for the first interaction, but from what that jackass told me Sabel had managed to take out his capture team," she started. "Ok, though I'm wondering why he thought taking a captured mon was alright," interjected the trainer. "That's how he was he would do anything to win. He was driven to push to the top but he would often stoop to dirty means to achieve it. Sabel wouldn't have been the first time he's done such an ambush," said Sabrina as she gripped her arm tightly. "Did he take you in such a way?" asked the trainer her voice softening a bit. "Nno I was bought from a breeder farm," she said softly. "They were set to kick me into the wild after I refused to cooperate he came in and bought me instead. He wanted me for my body to use in shows," she said shivering softly. "After one such show I wound up having to chase off some mon who wanted to get a little too friendly. He decided to start trying me out for combat at first I was part of his capture team, but he eventually started moving me into his main team," she said continuing to tell her story. "Eventually he realized he could use my body in order to distract mon and ambush them. That became my role I was to lead targets to him for capture. So when I was ordered to bring Sabel to him I figured it was just another capture I had only heard the damage that he could do, but when I lead him back I didn't find the capture team instead it was his other team. I didn't know what to do I froze. I...almost let someone as beautiful as him get badly hurt because of my actions. I...I couldn't let him lose everything I fought back committing the ultimate transgression I attacked both my fellow team and trainer. I can't blame you for not trusting me but I couldn't let him hurt someone like that," she said clutching her feathered arm tightly. "Please can I ask your name before I continue it feels wrong right now," she said interrupting her story. "Yea, sure its Ariel," said the trainer. "That's a pretty name," said Sabrina relaxing slightly. She continued telling the story of how Sable got attacked and her fighting back. Sabrina found herself with tears welling up once more in her eyes as she described what had happened to the dragon. "So is it that it?" asked Ariel after Sabrina told her about using the healing items. "Erm...mostly that's the important bits," said the embarrassed fire type. "What are you hid....oh I see," said Ariel realizing what she had not been told. "But it's too quick for you to have formed an egg," she said as horror washed over Sabrina's face. "Nnoononoo not like that we just had a little fun. We didn't go that far," she said very embarrassed. Ariel started giggling uncontrollably. "I'm sure that dragon would have loved to knowing him. Ok now that I know your story I've decided your fate," said Ariel smiling softly. "Oh?" replied Sabrina her heart pounding in her chest. While she waited each beat of her heart seemed to threaten to shatter her rib cage. Ariel simply smiled as if she could see the blaziken's fear. Quickly she embraced the quivering mon. "Shh shh hey don't worry Sabel seems to really like you and trust you and that's enough for me. I just wanted to make sure you weren't trying to pull one over on him," she said tightly hugging Sabrina. "You're welcome on my team I'm not the most powerful trainer but I won't force you to attack or ambush mon like that," she said. "Tha...thank you, I really hope I can contribute plenty to your team," said Sabrina returning the hug tightly as she began to cry freely. Ariel slowly untangled herself from Sabrina. "Ok now stop crying already you're home with me," she said wiping the mon's tears off. "Sabrina was it?" asked Ariel. "Yyes but I'll take any name you give me," she replied smiling broadly. "Hmm I like that name besides Sabel might be sad if I changed it," she said smiling. "Now come on lets get you relaxed and we'll do a mock battle later to see what you're capable of," she said standing up and holding the door open for Sabrina. She followed the trainer inside. "Ok stay here have some snacks or something I'll go pick up Sabel from the Pokecenter," said Ariel gathering her things. "I'll come with...." she started before Ariel pressed her down into a couch. "No stay here. Relax you'll need your energy to spar," said Ariel. Sabrina nodded and settled down to take a nap after all that had happened she was suddenly very tired. "Welcome home Sabrina," said Ariel as the blaziken drifted off.
